The combination of a king-tide and a big northerly swell by Storm Fehi on 1 Feb 2018 caused large parts of Rough Island to be flooded with sea water. The effects are still getting clearer. Anything from mature trees to flaxes and shrubbery are dying. The cache has had two incarnations over time but the area where it was placed is ravaged. There's no other option but to archive.
Found a potential thing but falling apart???? No log with it so we might be wrong. Nylon...?
The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara and I are exploring the Tasman region again. Its a cycle around Rabbit/ Rough Islands today with the assistance of Jack and Jill. So lets get peddling!
The outer container was disintergrating here. Tagged and then our our way. Cheers

Out enjoying the afternoon sun and giving the dog a walk at the same time. Nice to explore this end of rough island. Thanks for the clever cache.
Nice hide, a lovely walk around the island and took in a few caches on a lazy Sunday afternoon TFTC
Found with TregearP on a Sunday outing. Nice hide and all in good order.
Thanks for the cache.

Well hidden cache at a place u used to spend a lot of time with my dog in my previous Geocaching years. Nice to come back. Tftc
A clever hide, a favourite because of that. A beautiful spot, and a lovely autumn day to be out enjoying it. TFTC
Today was Day 2 of the Garin College Geocaching Grad Challenge. Its was a brilliant day. Teachers and students both had luck geocaching on Rough Island, which is a geocache gold mine!

Went on a big adventure with Wafflekitties and geo pups, had a blast thanks for the memories! TFTC.
Found while on a winter holiday with LCBuilder and our two geodogs. We spent 3 weeks travelling down the east coast and then up the west coast, setting our tent up at a different campsite each night. We didn't have any real plan, just went where the caches took us we saw a lot of awesome sights and will definitely have to come back one day as 3 weeks isn't really that long!
Finally made it to Sunny Nelson, definitely one of my favourite places.
Quick find with no problems getting log, TFTC

Mrs ToT found this one quite quickly. Unfortunately we have lost the pen so just a small part of our stamp is our log. TFTC!!!
Very hot for the canines today. No fetch for them but they enjoyed the wall to enable mine. Love the container. Log is full
We have been t this place before and struggled to find the cache. So such problems today. We were straight on it. Thanks for a nice hide and woof to the dog.
We made a nice bike ride. This is our second time and loved the ride again.
hahaha we liked this hide. Thank you hope to visit this park more often as the doggies love it

Out for an afternoon walk. Thought a good time to catch up on some local caches. Had to doge a muggle or two walking their dogs. Even ran into a cacher from Chch. Thanks for all the caches
This was a quick find today - can't believe we spent so long looking for this on another occasion and DNF. Nice to collect a smiley face today.
After a visiting the area before the Valentines Day event last Sunday, we were back today with the purpose of getting my finds count to 8999 before tackling Cross Words for my 9,000th find this evening. And there were a couple of recently published caches as an added incentive.
Cache didn't take long to find as I had a pretty good idea of what I should be looking for. A nicely engineered hide.
But when I looked in my caching kit for my tweezers to remove the log book, I couldn't find them - I had 2 pairs to choose from. Looks like I'm going to have to invest in another pair . StreetWalker went back to the car (which was fortunately parked nearby) for a small screwdriver which did the trick. Phew. TFTC.

#9161. Troodles quickly spotted this well camo'ed cache. We were lacking some of our usual equipment, so I had to go back to the car to get something capable of hooking the log out. TFTC.
A caching trip to Nelson for the Seagnoid and I, G H 6 7 1 0 has a splitting........wood job to do for a friend so had to call off late yesterday. tS and I decided that caching Rabbit Island by bicycle, culminating in the event later in the day would be just the job. Due to a few big days this week I didn't get round to sorting out 2 M T Bs for us so I had to borrow one from work and t S had to use his road bike, skinny tyres and all.
A nice day weather wise with the sun shining proudly and nary a wisp of wind, almost perfect caching weather and after 6 hours cycling we'd found quite a few of Rabbit Island's caches, yay
Nice execution of the hide here, used natures tool to extract the log, replaced as found

[green] There is an event on at Rabbit Island, so Capperz and I thought this is a good opportunity to cache out the island. Couldn't quite do it, but got pretty close. Our start time got delayed as there was a hiccup with bicycles. I ended up having to use my road bike, skinny tyres and all. Wasn't a problem most of the way, but it sure was for some parts!
A few people and dogs here, but the they were way over there. no problems with the cache.

Enjoying our holiday from the UK and having a great walk around the area picking up caches. TFTC
On a geocaching outing with Wellwishers and HiHopes. Find #10 for the day. A great tribute to the dogs of this world. tftc.

What a fantastic cache. Our young friend Sebbie loved this and enjoyed climbing the naturally occurring object at GZ. Thanks for the originality. J&G and Sebbie and dog.
Our last find for the day with mot_hunter. Some good camo but with keen eyes we soon had the prize!

Nice and easy once I had the right place! Good one, thanks, Topgear01 and dog.

I join the list of DNFs. A lot of chain sawing done around GZ which may have had an effect. http://www.geocaching.com/images/icons/icon_smile_sad.gif
Wow! Was humiliated a bit because of somewhat inability to find but no more. It seems I am not alone...
Will return to bring this one down!

Neither Ducksarse Dave nor I could find this one despite a fairly extensive search.
We looked around the tree & other trees for a while & no luck finding it. Will be back to try again with specsavers on next time.
