Decided to stop and see if this one might still be present after all these years. Checked all around the base of the three nearest trees under the grasses and in the wooden hollows. Nothing felt. Seems it has indeed blown away in the wind.
RIP Blowin' In The Wind.
RIP Blowin' In The Wind.
If gone fishing couldn't find it I was dubious whether I could and it proved the case today.
Hmmm, checked all the nooks and crannies but couldn't locate this apparently easy find.
Which Tree....Which Tree...That old wind sure did blow but we bowed our heads and soldiered on. easy cache to find on a trip to Pallister Bay. tftc
Well the phrase was extremely apt today. Barely managed to stay on my feet and certainly didn't want to let go of the log sheet or it may have ended up in Castlepoint. Thanks for the quick stop and cache.
A plan was hatched for another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend. funkymunkyzone, alpenmilch80 and myself flew down to Wellington on the first flight Saturday morning. We met up with vista at Petone in the Toyota Yaris rental car, as he'd flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of town and made a beeline for the start of our route at Featherston. We zig zagged our way through Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki on our way back home to Auckland. To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team AMFV".
Our 1500km / 40 hour drive consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure. TFTC!

Another fly-down-drive-back-caching weekend, this time in the company of mike-miss, alpenmilch80 and vistra. Three of us flew down very early on Saturday morning and met up with the other who had flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of Wellington, stopping just once to rendezvous with the other member of the team. We cached our way through the Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki under the moniker "Team AMFV" (google it if you're interested, but it seemed appropriate for our mission).
We headed over the Rimutakas and started off with a loop of Lake Ferry before heading north and out into the back blocks.By the evening we were up around Masterton and heading back out into the sticks, criss-crossing Route 52 picking up cache finds along crazy little roads, the craziest of which were around Pongaroa, from where we headed back down and across to SH2 just north of Eketahuna, coming over the insane hills at Pori just after dawn. Spectacular.
We all piled into our little Toyota Yaris rental car, which had probably never seen such terrain before in its life, judging by the amount of clanginjg of metal on stones, and scraping of underbody on metal road centre. All part of the fun though, and nothing like taking 40.5 hours (with basically no sleep), over 1500km, to get from Wellington to Auckland, stopping at 288 caches along the way - 173 on Saturday and 115 on Sunday. I enjoy driving long distances, so I drove for about the first 25 hours plus a few more hours later on Sunday - also because I had designed the route so I knew fairly well the way we were going, and this time we made no mistakes!
Sorry for the largely copy/paste logs, but it's hard work remembering all the different caches. Some stood out from the others but we enjoyed every single one of them and were thankful for every single placement along the way. This trip, and the company, was fantastic and a fun but shatteringly tiring weekend.

This cache was found as part of a marathon weekend of geocaching with alpenmilch80, mike-miss and funkymunkyzone - aka "Team AMFV" It was a full on weekend of non-stop caching, mostly on windy gravel Wairarapa roads!
I had flown down to Wellington on Friday, then met up with the others first thing Saturday morning. We loaded up a Toyota Yaris rental car, then slowly made our way back up to Auckland, arriving late on Sunday night! The poor little car certainly got put through a lot!
It was an incredibly long and tiring weekend, but great fun at the same time, with a great group of cachers! All up I found 250 new caches over the weekend and revisited a few that I had found before. Sorry for the copy and paste logs, but the weekend is already a blur! TFTC!!

mike-miss, funkymunkyzone, vistra and I met early Saturday morning for a two-day-geocaching-trip and once we collected the smallest relocation car available (a green camouflaged Yaris) we were on our way. funkymunkyzone already descripted the route we took in detail and I am still very impressed how he managed mostly the driving without getting lost a single time. Clearly he has his own Topo map in his head . This was a great team effort and I enjoyed the groups spirits and its laughs along the way till the sleep finally got me after the last cache in Taranaki.
In total I collected with the "Team AMFV" 278 smiles along the way and the word "brace" is no longer foreign to me. I would like to give a big thanks to Skindo and all the other cache owners for all the placements along our tour and hope I don’t annoy too much with the copy and paste logs. TFTC

When we pulled over to find this cache, some lovely people slowed to see if we were OK.

Blowin in the wind is right, out on my bike after a few today and it was that windy here the wind blew the plastic bag the log was in away and I thought it had gone to usa but I found it again many thanks
Took the long way round to attend the Event Cache in Carterton. True to its name today, nearly got blown away. NINO TFTC
Checked a few trees out before we located the one guarding the cache, good views if the lake from here TFTC.
Found with renelm and Difool, logged as RAD to save log space, time and trees.
I am not much of a logwriter, so see renelms, and possibly Difools, log for details.

Cache # 1,328 - Another quick find on a blustery day. Almost got blown over at this one! TNLNSL. TFTC.
Quick find while in the area today. enjoying the drive around the lake with the music going tftc skindo
#5655. I was amazed how windy it was here; no wonder the trees are on a lean! TFTC.
Was blowin' very hard while we drove north along Western Lake Rd. Very pleased there was little on-coming traffic as the wind was doing its darnedest to blow the car onto the wrong side of the road.
I was volunteered to seek out the cache while StreetWalker stayed in the car but I made a very poor job of it (it was difficult to stand upright). So with the aid of the hint, he had to venture out and help me.
We wondered what the journey would be like over the Rimutakas in the high winds, but it was fine.

Out in the Wairarapa with Etherlord on day two of an Attack on Skindo's Translation Puzzles weekend. Found no wind and now trees blowing, althoughtey were all leaning over. Cache was an easy find, though.
On a caching raid in the Wairarapa, Martinborough-based.
It sure was a blowin'. The windiest place on earth today!
Straightforward find, cache in order, log signed; safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

The wind was blowin' hard today. There must be a hole in the hills that allows so much wind through! TFTC
Out with Belmont Scouts for our annual bike ride around the Big Coast ...
Another quick "stop, sign and replace" before having to catch up with the other bike riders.
Loved the trees!

Find #21 on a days caching from Tawa to Lake Ferry and around Lake Wairarapa with I5BADASS.
Quite a bit of extra effort was required to open the car door when I arrived at this location. I can understand why the trees look the way they do.
A quick find today on a Wairarapa caching trip as I headed down towards Ocean Beach. Yes those trees definitely tell you what the prevailing wind direction is here! Signed log, TFTC!
Yay! our 100th find! This spot lived up to its name - very windy today (and not just this spot!).
Find #1222. Second find as we continued to head further south with the intention of heading back up north on Kahutara Road. Very windy this morning, and it was even from the predominant wind direction as mentioned in the listings' description. A (thankfully) quick find which ruffled us from the comfort of the car - nice views as well. SL TFTC.
Like a few other caches down this way this morning we only managed a 3TF, beaten by those that should get a real job Not too breezy here today but the trees sure do show the effects of the wind.

WOW another joint FTF with boxhill , this was the second cache that I did with boxhill today in the Wairarapa as we were over here to pick up a couple of the new caches that were published here in yesterday.
Arriving near GZ boxhill found a carpark across the road fro GZ and then it was a short walk over to GZ, after checking the hint it really didn't take too long to find the cache, actually where else would you hide a cache titled with a name like this. Was a bit surprise how busy this road was as a couple of locals rode pass on thier quads as we were near GZ but really didn't take any notice to what we were doing. Thanks for placing cache here and for bringing us to this interesting location, another well little themed cache, TFTC TNLNSL (4403) Yeetrees FTF Craze also came for a visit as well.

Happy Days FTF ! A joint FTF with Yeetrees this morning. After finding the cache at the top of the Rimutaka's we decided to pop over to see if the FTF's on the caches down here were still up for grabs. Luckily for us they were. A quick find here. TNLN SL TFTC
