The time has come to say goodbye. Thank you for the fun and information for the past 15 years. geopopsNZ signing out
Easy find with clue. Little bit hard to get at for me. Book a bit damp. Not bad. Beautiful winters day. Great views. Tftc
Taking a little detour off of the TA to snag a bonus peak and hunt out a geocache. The turquoise waters of kenepuru Sound are truly a sight to behold!
Thanks for dragging me up the hill to this beautiful vantage point.

Doing the queen Charlotte track and decided to checkout the lookout point with a friend from Argentina.
Decided to download the app again and find some caches after a year off!
Defiantly worth coming up to find the cache and check out the amazing views.
I recommend caching your pack at the bottom and walking up

This is my last section of the South Island TA (NOBO from Bluff). I started on Jan11th and its almost finished. I am very spoilt too - that I'm finishing on this lovely track (feels like a footpath compared to what Ive experienced).
I dumped my pack down at the track junction and climbed the 900m up here... for the views and the cache. All tucked away out of sight.

Sent Mr beconaze off at a clip to find this one and he reported back that it was a nice straight forward find. Beautiful blue sky day and the views were spectacular
With a few days on a school camp at Mistletoe Bay, our morning walk brought us a wee bit up from the bay towards this one but not enough to make a detour. So, later in the afternoon I did a solo run/walk from the bay up to here (about 40 minutes). Well and truely worth it too. The cloud had mostly cleared and there were 360 degrees of everywhere. A favourite for this I think. Then, 19 minutes back down and a loop of the peninsula for good measure.
My last day on the track, unfortunately I'm only going to get as far as Mistletoe Bay so will have to come back and do the last section another time. I've been carrying a full pack and the last day or so I've had a couple of bruised toenails so have been struggling. I left my pack at the turnoff and shot up to get the cache and check out the view. It was worth the detour.

TFTC! Fantastic look out. A mini hike for myself and two teens after our train trip from Rangiora to Picton. . The kids highlight was the bird that stole my croissant and bacon!
Amazing view after a quite difficult walk with small children. Hopefully the cache was easy to find and a good reward, TFTC!
This is a wonderful place with breathtaking views. The two Weka birds up there helped me to find the cache.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Nice little hike to a fabulous viewing spot. Great track, steady but not too steep, great to walk. And the view up there is more than stunning. The cache was quickly found, in quite well condition even the container starts to crack. TFTC
What a climb! But what a view when you get here It was a perfect day to get the full effect of such a wonderful place in the world. I will be returning. TFTC (left a TB go encourage you to do the climb!)
I didn't think I had the time for this walk yesterday when I passed so left it for today. I'm pleased I did because it was a much nicer day for the views today. Track was surprisingly busy but it turned out to be mostly one group strung out - a choir from Australia with some Wellingtonians walking the track before a concert in Wellington. Admired the views and headed back down again. TFTC # 13,692

We stopped at the i-Site in Havelock and they recommended the walk to this lookout - of course after having some mussels
Both recommendations were highly appreciated by us, good lunch, a nice walk and even a cache!
Glad that there was a pen inside as I didn't had one with me. Someone must have found it just before me today, as there was already a find signed for today.
A bit foggy the view, but still very impressive!!

On our 20th day in New Zealand we stayed at Lochmara Bay, a truly beautiful spot. We went for a hike to Hilltop view point. The view from up there is just awesome and really worth the effort. At the top we could find the cache well but it’s condition is not so good. The box has a scar and we first had to turn it to get rid of all that water in the box. The dry-keeping bag is completely soaked. Funny enough the log was quite dry even though that it’s bag is also ripped. Unfortunately we didn’t have any replacement material on us, just a black plastic bag in which we put the log. We leave a FP to find a cache with such a view!!! TFTC and greetings from Switzerland
Even though we didn't make it for sunrise (we didn't intend to), we still enjoyed a spectacular view down to the bay area. Found the cache easily and it was in perfect shape with a super-dry logbook which had been placed back in May. TFTC geopopnz!

Found the spot and a plastic box but no log in it. I have attached a photo of what I found.
Well, going this track was a combination of a broschure recommending the kenepuru sounds and c:geo showing this cache. So after seeing lots of fog in Picton this morning i started direction west and immediately the views became better. Then i started the onahau track and soon it became clear that the view would be good The time is really generous, it was at the cache after 25 minutes...Then a little Photo break, some apples and some minutes just enjoying the views. Buch could somebody cut those bushes Definitely worth a favourite, thanks a lot
This was the one cache I was really hoping to get hold of whilst I was at HorsegirlNZ's school camp at Mistletoe Bay this week.
I had expected to need to make a sneaky trip out to indulge myself, so was rather pleased when we all decided that we should detour here on our day tramp to Lochmara.
Once there, the kids were more interested in morning tea than the views and looking for a plastic box, but there you are.
Log signed by myself and a couple of others in our group.
Some moody clouds around this morning, but the views were worth it all the same.
Thanks

Quelle galere de monter sous ce soleil de plomb. La vue mérite quand meme tous ces efforts merci pour la cache de la part des Francais.
Logged this cache on a beautiful day with unlimited view. Thanks for the cache!
What a slog to get here and what a view!! Sadly this was full of water as the lid has a largish hole. It has now been returned to GZ upside down and with a makeshift coat. Dried off the log as best I could and wiped down the treasures. Left a special TB to enjoy this place. Thanks geopopnz.
Right now, beautiful weather, ferries going to Wellington and a weka half meter next to me
A straightforward find while tramping the Queen Charlotte Track. Sadly the shrubbery is growing and obscuring the view.
Thank you geopopnz for this cache.

NZDi and I booked a holiday home in Broughton Bay for six days for a family holiday to get over the madness that is Christmas. Our daughter and her partner and our son and his wife and our granddaughter were all present for some of the time and as such the focus was on family rather than caching.
However we still managed to find time to get 25 caches along with three DNFs (Grrr) in the time we were away without impacting too much on the family focus of the break.
On day two of our holiday our son and his family decided to walk over to Te Mahia for a coffee. We decided to accompany them as far as the turn-off down to Te Mahia, and carried on to find this cache. Unfortunately due to the low overcast skies, there was to be no 360 degree views today, but we have been up here before and know what the view is like. We heard and saw plenty of bird life on the walk up the hill.
Thanks to the hint, this was a QEF for our only cache today.

Container was found out in the open with lid removed & no log. Have put in replacement log & pencil but container lid has a hole in it. As we sat nearby for a snack we were visited by a juvenile weka who may have been the culprit.
Excellent spot, though & well worth the effort to get to. TFTC

Climbed up from Lochmara Lodge. A quite dispiriting walk as one got seemingly further away from the cache and the GPS placed us half a kilometre from the track. That said it was all worthwhile with a splendiferous view. Incidentally, the logbook is soggy despite the heat. Happy New Year from Scotland. TFTC
No 7 on our Queen Charlotte Track holiday.
An easy find here looking for the view, very similar in all directions - see pic.

On our tour through New Zealand we visited many inspiring places, enjoyed delicious meals, met friendly locals and tourist AND found some Caches.
So this Cache was one on our trip. Thanks a lot for hiding and maintaining.

Found it! Day 5 of our Queen Charlotte walk and we arrived at the trail junction to our accommodation earlier than expected so I took the opportunity to climb the hill and find the cache. It was a quick dash down the hill to avoid the storm and getting too wet. TFTC Great views! And we got completely saturated!! SL
Found during our holiday at Lochmara Lodge. Cache was quite visible if you looked from a certain direction. There was no TB in the cache but i dropped one that I had. TFTC
TFTC! Great spot, though not too easy to get to. However, it was very much worth it.
We found this cache during our wonderful journey through New Zealand. Thank you for the cache and the great time in your country! Greetings from Germany.
A detour that is worth every step up and down the hill.
We managed this within 30 return, including finding this cache and taking many pictures along the way.

This was a great geocache. We set off from Lochmara Lodge in the late afternoon eventually arriving about half an hour before sunset. The view from here is astounding.
Took me a little time to find the cache. Then, went back to Lochmara Lodge in the dark (head torch a must). Very satisfying.
Anyone else thinking of tramping from Lochmara- it'll take around 3 hours round trip. You'll also need a Queen Charlotte Track Pass. And a camera!

On a tramping trip with work and left the GPS at home. Upon reaching the top of the path at the Trig I thought I wonder if there's a cache here. A quick recce and there it was in a good logical place
Nice hide though the views were rapidly disappearing in the drizzle today

As promised, here comes my „more detailed“ log. (At least I try to remember the details ^^). Sorry it has taken me so long to write the log.
Caching on the Queen Charlotte Walk Way:
So far we have found the Cook's Quadrant, the Endevour Inlet , the big bay Cache and Q.C.W.W. Today we came past this one. As my group had a picnic and enjoyed the view I went for the cache. It was a quick and easy find. Thank you very much for showing us this location (astonishing view) and of course: thank you for the cache.

Didnt even have a GPS for this one, but I expected there would be a cache in such a beatiful place! However I someone took a poop right next to the cache which I stepped in right before I saw the cache. So watch out!
I've been wanting to get to this cache for a while now. Today was the day! Whew, quite a trudge up from the parking spot on the turnoff to Mistletoe Bay but well worth it. No problems finding the cache for me today. Looks like its been found by someone without a GPS recently too... TFTC, Biggles.
Fantastic views from up here well worth the slog up here. No trouble finding this one once I caught my breath.
Small detour off the track, was a great excuses to take our packs off, bit too cloudy for views unfortunately. Tftc
Day 4 of walking the QC Track and for some bizarre reason decided to take a detour up a big hill to get a geocache! Lovely views today. Had just popped the cache down on the picnic bench when suddenly it was muggle central up there! Ended up staying longer than I intended, waiting for everyone to leave. One of only 3 that I managed to find on the track and well worth a favourite. TFTC!
Took a day-walk on the QCT today and climbed up to the lookout as well - what a fantastic view! Great weather today so we could see everything promised in the listing. It was very hot on the track today so my shirt was drenched in sweat when we arrived up there, but it definitely was worth every drop!
Thanks for the cache - Blue Ribbon for this one!

Well well. After a nice steak and chips feed, better walk it off. Stunning, no wind. I have biked the track quite a few times, but admit that I have never diverted up to here. Walking, well under an hour car to car. Joggers wil break 40min. Another fabulous cache from the master. Thank you.
