We both decided to take a small break from work and do some caching. Weather was not that great throughout the day, still it was fun. TFTC

There were some caches between Mandeville and Cust calling to me wanting to be signed off.
It was interesting reading about the old railway lines.
Cheers for the cache.

more of the eyreton line found today with kiscardi I enjoy seeing where train lines went.this is our 196 find today
Thanks for the cache Sallies. Out with NZ Bozzy today trying for 200+ caches. This is number 196. It is dark but there are plenty of green dots showing so should be able to make it .
Quick easy find since maintenance. The roads around here can be busy so be careful
Had some time to myself today so drove out Oxford way to do some cache maintenance.
3hr43min. 180km. 7.74litres of petrol. 4.3 litres per 100km. $15.79. 22 caches checked. 3 caches found. A very useful day! Rodney. This one was indeed missing so replaced it.

Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...
There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!
1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...
We have another one of those punishing plans to cache until we drop - An early morning start with the hope that we'll finish at a reasonable time... From South Christchurch, we took Highway 1 and crossed the Waimakariri River into Northern Christchurch... Someone or something has discovered this hide - Even in its isolated location. Found a few metres away and in the open. Surprisingly, host camouflage found intact. This may need checking. Thanks Sallies and TFTC.

After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with EyeSpyBen we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

A quick find on a crisp and cold but brilliantly sunny winter's afternoon. TFTC!
Out caching Canterbury for day 2 of my March madness road trip.
I enjoy the railway line series. Now that I have grandchildren I'm beginning to learn or be taught about Thomas and his friends.

Found by young Z - tftc. Cursed on the way back as I was driving a nana car and had to keep the speed down on the gravel road. Still at least the river was dry and the ford was passable.
A beautiful sunny winter day in Canterbury so off I went to check some of our caches around Oxford/Rangiora. 175km driven, 15litres of petrol used, 21 caches checked/serviced, 1 cache found - in about 4 hours. This one was actually missing so it was replaced by a new set of gear. Rodney.
Located 21 caches in the Swannanoa – West Eyreton area this afternoon, but this wasn’t one of them. I expected it to be a quick find but there was nothing under the ‘pile’ mentioned in the hint. Didn’t see any other similar pile nearby so I would question whether the cache is still there.
We decided to travel out to Oxford and back, checking out our railway caches. We took our grandson Zach to actually find the containers. This one was in a mess so we replaced everything before putting it back in its hiding spot. Rodney and Iris.
A quick find in the wet, this one is exposed and the lid is broken, as mentioned by a previous finder. Needs maintenance. Added a strip of RITR paper. TFTC sallies.

Drove out to the Waimak Gorge and back today to check out some of our own caches. Took brother-in-law Donald for a ride (Nufc). Checked out fourteen caches, and this was number eleven. Cache was fine! Lid looked very fragile - next time I will bring a new container. Rodney.
Found this one today in company with the cache owner, my brother-in-law! Thanks. Don.
Easy find but the exterior cache container needed a empty out, of water. Happily the log book was in a bag, I think the original log container has long gone, I was ready and armed with tweezers! TFTC
Jess.daphne and I decided to go on another caching mission in order to get 50 caches to get the final Hidden Creature souvenir. I also wanted to take my new car on her maiden caching mission. We all had a fantastic day in the sunshine and howling wind, getting dusty and windswept; team Jeje riding in Gigi. Sorry for the generic logs but TFTC.
Found today with injeanious, we got around 50 caches today in order to find all of the hidden creatures. We signed the logs as JeJe to save time and space. Tftc!
thanks for the placement, we have been loved travelling and visiting the roads of Christchurch and the many caches each CO has taken the time to place, thank you for taking the time to place and maintain them.
Checked up on this one today. Everything satisfactory. The road was slightly damp today but no flooding. Still waiting to obtain some bison tubes to replace the ones stolen from this series, along with some of the trains! Rodney and Iris.
Out for a few hours caching, ready to turn around in case of excessive water. It was fine getting to the previous cache, but then there was quite a bit of water on the road coming here. i may have turned around, but a driver going the opposite direction confirmed that it was all good to cross. I had to pull out the gumboots to get to the cache, but I can report that it is perfectly safe, above the water line, and dry inside! TFTC!!
Wouldnt b a road trip without some gravel roads!! Bit muddy round here but a quick find of cache. dropped tb. On a 11 day caching trip around the south island. Log signed as b&p.Tftc Sallies. Find # 3351
A quick find while hunting out a few caches in the area this afternoon. Signed log, TFTC
We decided to take our new cachemobile out for a ride to Oxford and back, checking up on our two railway series caches. We found five caches on the way as well. This cache was still in good condition except for the fact that someone has stolen the railway engine log container - at least they left the logsheet!!! Replaced the container. Rodney and Iris.
Another detour on my way home from work to collect this cache only one left then the taunting of the final will be no longer! Thanks for the effort put in to this series.
Found today with BDP82. Long straight gravel roads. Nice country. Left a diamond. Thanks for the cache.
With a few more days of holidays left we decided to head south again and find some caches we didn't have time to look for last week, plus some more off the beaten track. This was one of 52 found today.
Thank you to all CO's who made this possible.

Our recent multi day Canterbury cache raid was so successful we decided to have another one before the holidays finished. Again we got stabbed, prodded, pricked and scraped by the variety of hedges the region is so famous for. And of course we can now hold our breath a lot longer. A skill well worth developing to avoid breathing in part of the road surface every time a vehicle passes. Just over 200 finds were logged this time and a great time was had finding the caches with a variety of shapes, sizes and placements. A big thank you to all COs who made this possible.
cruising around north of the Wimak. did some 30+ boxes. nice series here.
easy find. Thanks
easy find. Thanks
Easy find while on morning bike ride. Cache covered a bit more, was too visible. Thank you.
Out and about with Pagenz prior to the event nearby and thought we would pick up a few roadside caches. It was lovely to catch up with the CO's later on in the day. TFTC
After solving an unfound puzzle caches I headed out today to try for the FTF and of course stopped for a few more caches on the way and back. This was the last one for the day. TNLN SL TFTC!
THis is one I had left off the originally logging in of our 200+ caches we visited as a team called HHSS. We had a long day but achieved our goal and headed home as it got dark pleased with our great achievement and thanks to the seagnoid's great planning.. The logging in is also a great task but apart from one more to find that I didn't log originally they are logged. Thanks for the cache and another smiley face.
[green] Out with Hanknstone, Haydn.seek and thestepahine on an awesome 200+ day. We managed to get 210 caches in 11 hours, an average of 3 minutes each. There were a few awesome caches out there, but mostly it was a blur. Thanks to all the cache owners, and my apologies about the cut and paste!
Signed log as HHSS.

Hanknstone, Haydn.seek, the Seagnoid and I had a challenge of doing 200 caches in a day. We started at 7:30am and finished around 8:00pm with a total of 200+. Apologies for the copy and pasting of the logs but there were so many we found that it would take so long to write them all up individually! Thank you for the find.
Found with Skaga while attending the Mega.
We are enjoying exploring out this way.

Found during the Mega weekend on bit of a tiki-tour around the Canterbury back blocks. Great weather, great caches, great fun! Thanks to all the cache owners for putting out and maintaining caches for us to find. All in all, a fun road trip with Boxhill and Yeetrees, we signed many of the logsheets as YGB to save both time and logsheet spaces.

In town for a “Mega” weekend of caching. I joined up with Yeetrees and gonefishing to form Team YGB. I really enjoyed exploring the country roads of Canterbury. We travelled a fair few Kilometres in the 4 days we were here, and had a great time, with a lot of laughs along the way. Good weather, and good company. It doesn’t get much better than that does it.
Thanks to all the CO’s for all the caches we found.
