My partner and I had a rare day off together and with the kids all at school we thought why not have a road trip and get lunch in the Republic of Whangamomona. Over some yummy wedges and nachos the conversation turned to how i hadn't been geocaching in ages. Before i knew it i had loaded the app, found a pen in my handbag and we headed off down the road for his first find. Safe to say he is now hooked and we ended up with 8 finds and 1 DNF for the day. We really enjoyed learning the history and taking in the views. Thank you for placing these caches and showing us our country. This was find 9/9 today. Unfortunately ran out of time to find anymore caches today. This was an easy find although a bit scary so close to such a busy road.
Saw the COs note earlier so added a replacement to help out.Took Friday off for travel as Im heading up into Taranaki for a couple of days out New Plymouth way. The last few times Ive visited Ive been time poor and have done Bulls- NP-Bulls in an extended driving day and been dead beat when I got back. This time I gave somewhere to stay so can enjoy my journey there, my time there, and the trip back. Also less pressure when searching and the Autumn weather is being kind too. Redeemed a couple of DNFs created a few more and had a nice time. Good to complete some Ad Lab series too and the Taranaki region COs are thanked for their hides and maintenance.
Trying to get someone to go and replace this cache sometime soon as it appears to have gone missing. Will update when that has been done.
Think we found the container it was a painted blue container with no lid. Found on the grass.
Tftc. Fun navigating to it easily on this fine day. We did hv a view of the Comet from here a few years ago. Yes and not much view of the mountain to see here : Trees getting tall now .nice spot though..
We pulled over to let the real canine Sherlock the Puppy (dog) out of the car for some exercise. Checked the geo app and that's how I located this one. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this geocache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC
Well I got a fantastic view of the mountain coming into Stratford from the forgotten highway. Tftc
Spent the weekend in New Plymouth and now heading back to Palmy. Had some spare time to collect a few caches. Quick stop and grab even in the dark. Cache and log all fine. Thanks for the smiley.
On a weekend trip to Taranaki with some of Team BOP. Always lots of fun on these trips targeting cache trails, solved puzzles and high favourites. Thanks to all the cache owners TFTC
A plan was hatched recently to hit the Naki area this long weekend. Nice to get away and grab a lot of our solved puzzles and ALs plus others along the way. Signed logs Team BoP to save room on log sheets.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

Team BOP is back on the road this time heading to Taranaki with our sights set on some Labs, some geo-art & everything else in between
Our current incarnation includes Davidson Clan, NZFlossy, McJandals and myself and we’ve signed the cache logs as ‘Team BOP’ to save time and log space. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey as most caches have been found quickly & without fuss thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placements.
I appreciate there’s a stigma attached to cut’n’paste logs like these so I’ll try to provide cache specific notes retrospectively when I get home. We do genuinely respect the work put into these caches, particularly some of the puzzles, but with a numbers mission like this - the hides start to blur together unfortunately. So Cheers COs, TFTC and most importantly - thanks for bringing us here

TeamBOP are together again for the long weekend. Philip.Perry, McJandals,NZFlossy and myself are heading to New Plymouth and surrounding areas caching.
Thanks Shellnz for the cache. It’s #1388 for us. We found your cache on 15 February 2021. Quick find.
Definitely worth a photo stop. She teased me and came out about half way from the cloud. Nice cache, one is definitely needed here. TFTC.
Just parked here searched to see if any caches nearby and I was 25 metres away.
On our way to New Plymouth, views are amazing.
Thank you from Howard and Kath

We are on a ten day road trip to Taranaki, The Forgotten Highway, Taumaranui, Ohakune and back home to Palmy. Along the way will be sightseeing, short mountain walks, museum visits, a rail cart journey and, of course, geocaching. Day 2 was making our way to Stratford.
Hmmm - the mountain view is certainly a bit obstructed here, but we’re pleased to get this cache as it helps us complete a S 39 degrees latitude challenge. We appreciated the very accurate coordinates provided and plenty of space to pull off the road too. TFTC

I tried to find this cache seven and a half hears ago when it was missing. No such problems today - a quick find.
Thanks for the cache. Signed just before a muggle stopped to take a photo of the mountain (which was only part visible under the cloud).
Turning a two hour drive into a whole day affair from Wanganui to New Plymouth! Great name/hint lol! TFTC!!
.If its not the trees its the blanket of cloud either creating a hat or a towel around its bottom or just white washed for cleaning. Quick snag and tag here with the hint. Cheers
Day 8 - Saturday 21 December. A long day from New Plymouth to Egmont, then Stratford and back to New Plymouth for a few well earned ZZZZs.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Obstructed View?? Is there ever an unobstructed view? This is day eight of our trip, and we have only had an unobstructed view twice - half an hour each. For the first few days the mountain had been removed in its entirety, presumably for cleaning, and now that it is back it must be cold as it's head it wrapped in a blanket. Or is it a towel? It's a bit far away, hard to see. In a few days we did get to see the head, but, as Taybeedragon said then, it was wearing a crop top.
Cache was unobstructed though
Day eight of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is up the mountain and Inglewood and Stratford.
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

The main focus of todays trip was the Geo Tour caches, but I did stop to look for the odd other one or two along the way. TFTC
Glad to see one can normally have a nice view. Not today with the clouds out. Oh well, we did see it a bit earlier so that's good!
Up here for an awesome weekend jaunt with Team Gators, TheWanglers and Karma Reprint to do a loop of the mountain in 48 hours grabbing as many caches as we could while having a good laugh. Logs signed as some derivative of (KT)^2
Cheers Shellnz for the cache

A planned geocaching trip to the USA was shelved (but is all go for this time next year!) so we came up with a weekends Plan B. Taranaki with TheWanglers, KarmaReprint and KiwiMoose - logs signed (TK)^2 or a variation of. A really fun trip with the forecast rain and thunder seemingly always in the distance but never hindering us. A really fun weekend.
Arrived in New Plymouth; grabbed the rental and hit the road running - aiming for Hawera....
Whilst the forecast storms stayed away from us they did hang around the mount so we never got a full view; just bits and pieces throughout the day.....a cool spot. Thanks for the cache.

A plan was hatched for a few of us to head to America for a Mad Mission. With life getting a bit crazy a downsized trip was organised as I had sorted childcare for the cachelets. The big America trip is now set for next year. We asked a member of our crew if we could go to Nelson, Dunedin, Auckland, Wellington, Hastings the answer all came back "I don't have many to find there". We left it to that member to suggest an area. He came up with New Plymouth and a loop around the mountain. That's a go from the rest of us. We sorted puzzles, gpxs, motels and a car and hit the ground running. The forecast was doom, gloom, rain, hail and lightning. Oh well, sounds exciting. We had very little of any of the weather that affected our caching and found we had all overpacked (thank God!).
Day 1: We grabbed the car and started caching at 2pm and made it to Hawera after 8pm settled into our accommodation and had a bit to eat and hit the town before calling it quits for the day.
We were lucky today to get a glimpse of the the mountain.
Thanks for the cache Shellnz.

I wonder whether those trees were that high when they bought the house opposite?
No views even without trees today because of cloud cover.

Today we had our second day in Ngaere and made a big roundtrip around Mt. Taranaki, with special emphasis on the city of Opunake, New Plymouth and the Mt. Egmont Visitor Center. On this trip we searched, found and logged many caches, too. The weather was not too good, not sunny, not so warm, very cloudy, and only sometimes there was some sun to be seen.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had better things to do than observing two geocachers.
Thanks to Shellnz for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Obstructed Mountain view (Taranaki). The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Looking for a park and grab to fill a rainy dot day. This did the job nicely. Mountain view very much obstructed by atmospheric conditions. TFTC.
Found while driving around the North Island while touring around from Australia.....TFTC
Up in the Taranaki area for work. Much like home really, but the weather rather on the hot side today. TFTC
Found while on PatandJohn's HVTC cycle and tramping Xmas trip while group cycled from Hawera to Stratford.

Found on a round trip in NZ. A short stop at the place and signed the log book. TFTC.
NQF before the rain storm. Not a hope of a view today lol! TFTC and greetings from the UK
TFTC Holidaying in N Z with Peerages from Australia. So good to collect a few caches while we travel this beautiful country
From Aus travelling NZ with pegasus46 enjoying your country. This hide was not far up the road from our accommodation so was a good one to find TFTC. SL
Not much to see here anyway today, mountain covered in cloud, and it may start raining... Unlike the beautiful day that was yesterday! I totally have my caching days mixed up. Working on the pretty day. Then doing this today... On my way from New Plymouth to Taumaranui, the long way via Wanganui picking up caches on the way! A group of us are meeting up in Taumaranui tomorrow to take a jetboat down the Wanganui river! Yippee! should be cool (in both senses of the word). But first to make it to Hawera for a couple of hours work...
Heading up to the 'Naki with MacGyverson for a few days to catch up with friends and geocache as we go.
Stopped here for a quick find - view was obscured by cloud today.
