I climbed to about 4 metres up and searched all around..but no luck the tree has many unsafe branches and is a safety factor to consider when attempting..needs maintenance as per other logs
Plenty of ivy and iris growing, no sign of the cache, my GPS took me to zero meters, must be gone
I couldn’t spot it in the most obvious location. Tried a few other nearby spots but no luck either it’s no longer as the picture shows or it’s further than I was prepared to go today.
On my way home and still after a couple of the more untraditional cache types. Having lots of fun collecting them up. This has a relatively high DT .
Thanks for placing and maintaining N!mrod. Log book was dry today but probably needs replaced. I left a TB.

After the awesome drive South with all the huge snow covered mountains it was an easy pull off onto the side of the road. A little wander around the trees and no doubting the location as its easily spotted. Signed the scrap of paper inside and an other not chosen size here!
Trip log: When cheap flights presented the opportunity to go to NZ with GreyHams, who was keen to get the 5 2000 caches and the web cam I was of course very keen to tag along. I didn't want to miss out on that... Equally as keen for those caches myself and the first chance to get the passport out in a long time and head overseas while we could. Covid Happenings of course did put the trip in doubt and a last minute effort from GreyHams to get the flights changed and it was looking like this might actually happen... until I arrived I truly didn't think it would!
The cache list was quite simple, the 5 2000 caches and the webcams. Of course we did look at others as we travelled, types, DT, not chosen which were in abundunce and caches of quality, if your cache made our list it had a quality we needed. Many thanks for your cache that helped guide us along our way.
Certainly it was a memorable time, barefoot 500 plus metres across a mud estuary of shells and crabs was more fun than it should be. As was pushing through wet thick high flax or tall wet grass across to the caches. But the most memorable would be the fog, the thickest, most relentless fog but it provided some stunning scenery at times and was just crazy.
I loved seeing all the chinese takeaways that did fish and chips, the perfect hedges and a deserved shout out to Indian Zaika for its great food! Certainly with the fog and rain it was an interesting trip and we got quite drenched at times, it hid a lot that NZ has to offer but 'it's a caching trip' after all so it ticked all the right boxes and was very enjoyable regardless. Huge thanks to GreyHams for letting me tag along while he did all the planning, booking, driving and sending in the answers for the caches... as always!

A nice driveby on our way south

Trip log:
International travel!!...OMG it feels good. Grabbed some cheap flights and anxiously waited for some outbreak to derail the plan, but that amazingly didn't happen. Sure, I had to scramble and reroute our trip via Brisbane & Sydney as we were originally going through the plague pit...aka Melbourne, but we still made it.
Having done most of the North Island, it was good to finally have a crack at the South. 5 year 2000 caches and a webcam, thats a nice little haul. Sure, some of the year 2000 caches involved bush bashing....in the rain/fog/mist...but we got them all. We had lots of other little targets like getting all our types/sizes/DT, NZ in particular has so many 'Not Chosen' size caches, super rare back in Oz, so we made sure to get as many as possible. If you are reading this, its because this cache had a quality we were chasing.
As always, the Earthcaches and the Virtuals took us to some really cool places, the Steampunk HQ and the boulders being birthed at the beach being the highlights. My favourite cache though would have to be the one where we had to walk 500m over a mud flat, dodging shells and crabs with our bare feet.
This trip will be remembered as the 'fog trip' as we saw a lot of it, which meant we saw little else. Oh, that and how every Chinese takeaway also doubles as the fish & chip shop....its a thing!

Heading south this evening to get a bit closer to the start of the PWGT caches that we hope to find in the next few days. We wanted to find three caches today and this is the first quick road side park and grab type cache that we hope to find.
A great area to pull off and park which is something we look for when travelling in the campervan.
We wandered around for a couple of minutes with the phones gps bouncing all over the place then as gk turned around he spotted exactly what we were looking for. When on the right angle we could not miss this one. The log book is pretty damp but there was a scrap of paper that we put our name on.
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

State of logbook is reflective of the current state of US politics. The log book is turning to mush and needs replacement. TFTC
Found. Cache looking pretty ruined. In need of repairs. Log book unusable.

Having a long weekend and decided to head up to Christchurch to meet friends. The rest of the weekend was spent geocaching, grabbing many of the puzzles solved during lockdown.
This was my last day up and so decided to drive around some back roads to grab caches before heading south and home.
bit damp but can still write on log.

* All the 20s and now 21 as well!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](http://nzmega.com) - you won't want to miss it!
On a road trip down south Mainly getting TMGTs and high favourites. Having lots of fun and seeing lots of places. Thanks to all the COs for some great caches TFTC cache needs bit TLC
On a road trip down south with the mates , primarily targeting TMGTs and high faves.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

Found the cache with no climbing required and replaced as found. Pretty spot off the main road. Log book is very mouldy and could do with a replacement. Glad that we had hand sanitiser back in the car! Tftc
Time to finally grab this cache as we have driven past multiple times. A quick grab and glad to have this smiley. TFTC
Found at Labour weekend with Searchwisely and Granville86a. Was expecting a tree climb, but reached it from bottom branch. Apologies for late log.
A group of us travelled up from Invercargill to raid a largely untapped area for the long weekend, today we are trekking south again and stopped here to break up the travel. This was a lot easier than I anticipated it would be, log book has seen better days and is mouldy. TFTC
I had to take a road trip around the lower South Island for work related purposes. Of course I took the opportunity to not only travel for work related purposes but also make it about geocaching related purposes as I had never collected any caches from this part of the country before. So I set out on Saturday and then left flying back north on Monday night from Dunedin airport. I am also trying to maintain a daily geo-streak and so today is day #960 in a row. When it came to finding this particular cache it didn't take long. I did however initially get confused with another cache look-alike nearby. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next finder. Thanks heaps N!mrod for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. A favourite point from me. TFTC.
Today my geocaching mission was to plug the last remaining 'minute' gaps in order to complete the S43 challenge. So I set off early in the morning, heading South from Christchurch to places where I obviously hadn't cached before. As others have noted this cache is not quite as it might have once been. I found the cover of the log book lying on the ground in the open. Then I spotted the cache container on the ground. Signed the log and replaced out of harms way but not sure if how the CO intended or not. TFTC, Biggles.
I'm from Switzerland and spend 4 months in New Zealand on vacation. Found this cache after a few minutes search, thanks.
Did NOT LOOK LIKE USA..lid open ..wet and dirty the Log book..Cache needs more atention.fromSwiss guy
Cache on ground, log book on ground. Put back together and left near tree. Found with Kittykatch and Smittengranny on a caching holiday to NZ. Been an amazing trip . Today we are traveling from Ashburton to Hokitika. Lots of fun happening and fabulous views. TFTC
Cache was found with Joolay and Kittykatchin the open and log etc scattered. All collected and log signed before being placed at base of tree. TFTC
Quick lunch stop in Ashburton, hitting the road again now! Mum on the wheel!

Found the cache on the ground in bits. We signed the log, put the lid back on and hung it back in the tree. The CO may need to take a look and return it to the correct elevation. TFTC.
Not right on the location and we found more by good luck than good management. I guess it was supposed to be up high but with the strong wind it was laying on the floor. Returned about 3m high.
Second day in NZ, crossing from east to west cost.
Second stop, the container is big enough but quite low for the cotation, misplaced?
We didn't dare parking on the sideway, is it ok here?

Good nice hide on a night of caching with an eight year old out with the Salvation Army.
Great hide after a bit of a search great to have a fit eight year old to have a climb . great cache
A great finish to my New Zealand holiday visiting our daughter in Asburton and seeing our two little grandsons. This is an excellent geocache. At my age it was a slightly difficult recovery of the cache, but well worth the effort. In company with Mrs GreenColonel who is always well tuned to finding actual caches. Took the TB and will travel it to England and to continue its journey round the world. SL TFTC
I remember a previous visit here in the rain and not finding it, now I know why... An easy little cache once spotted from the right angle. Cheers
A road trip to ashburton for the day to make the most of no work today! A few cones along the road so parked at the end and jogged back. Cool hide. Swapped TBs. a fav from me being a massive Springsteen fan.
well what an adventure this was ... having to park the car almost at GZ, then i had to get out of it..... good cache here and found after a brief search and it is deffo visible from a short way out. Cheers
A great name for this cache considering its location. It was a fun retrieval though I was a bit worried about the strength of the branches as I'm not the lightest fairy in the forest. Caught my pants leg on a broken branch and was refreshed the rest of the trip by the cool breeze, lol. All's good. It was worth it for the fun. Cheers N!mrod and happy caching!
Making our way south to Oamaru for the Geofest and just had to stop and see what a cache with a name like this was all about. As soon as we were fairly close we realised where the name came from.
Thanks N!mrod.
Thanks N!mrod.
There's a challenge cache in Auckland, where we live, that requires you to have found 100 or more terrain 3 or 3.5 geocaches, so while we are not wildly keen on mountainous treks we do try to do one every now and again to slowly get there.
We got to GZ and noted the attributes and that it should not be too difficult to spot the cache so knew what angle to tilt our heads to spot the cache. There's climbing and climbing and no tree looks forward to my weight on its limbs so tree and man were both rather relieved to see that the climb was reasonably modest. Not much agility required and the cache was in hand. Signed the log and replaced - thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, and for helping me get another T3 cache! All good here.

On my way south to watch the Highlanders take on the Lions and a day of caching on the way there and back. Quick easy find then on my way south again.
That was fun a cache to collect with a broken hand and being short! Was huffing a puffing as I carefully opened and signed.
2 more and I'm going for a coffee in town! And maybe a pie...
I'm on a 5 day caching trip in the south island. Have a few aims - Complete the Eclipse series out near Kirwee, and pick up a few specific caches that I need to complete my grid for a challenge - of finding at least one cache that was placed every month since geocaching was invented. 1800km later I can say I've accomplished my aim!

Got some cheap flights a few weeks ago so the plan was to come down for a big run in Ashburton to achieve the 120 in one day and get the gemstone. OMG! We started at the crack of dawn and finished in the dark. Foggy and cool but cleared by lunchtime. It should have been achieved much quicker. We had not really planned a route and detoured a bit. Some of this backfired as we ended up on some long gravel roads that had missing caches and was most disappointing. We got stuck for about an hour on a multi I specially wanted for qualifying for another cache which was frustrating. However, we made it - with a few to spare I believe - but are totally shattered. Too many to log individually so are doing the copy and paste. Many thanks to all who placed caches. What beautiful countryside and we love the fact we could pull over and park safely. Not keen on the many prickly pine trees so many were hidden under. The breeze only got up in the afternoon and it was a lovely warm breeze - not like Manawatu freezing winds even at this time of the year. More traffic on the roads than we expected and they fair motor along. Many thanks for the caches. It has made the whole trip worthwhile.
Loved this one and thankfully hubby was good for the retrieve as I was too tired after the long day we had. Giving it a favourite.

Was all well and good until I got back in the car and on the road and there was a massive spider on me. I didn't mind but cab165 nearly jumped out the window. TFTC
Found with odgersaj when he was doing 100 in a month! Signed the log back then but didn't do the online bit so logging now. Thank you!!
At World’s End – New Zealand – One of our dream become true.
Our plan was to stay 4 weeks in New Zealand. But this wasn’t this easy to manage at work. So we moved spontanic the plan from march to november. We informed us before about point of interessts. The list was this long so we decided to go by campervan from the north to the south to have the most mobility. We arrived after way to much hours in Auckland and started there our round trip. At first we enjoyed the area in auckland and the north. In Waitomo we were able to see and enjoy glohworms in one of the famous caves. But this area had a lot of nice hiking trails were we could discovered the Piripiri Caves, Natural Bridge and the Marokopa Falls. This was already impressive to see and still the beginning of our adventure for life. The trip went on over Okere Falls Scenic Reserve direction Rotorua. In this area we enjoyed each hour, because each corner was different. We visited the Haumurana Springs – what amazing water -, Blue Lake and Green Lake and relaxed in Kerosene Creek. We liked all the water and in our travel guide we found a hike cloth to the Huka Falls, which ofcourse we did as well. All this flowers were bloom. One oft the Highlights was Wai-O-Tapu. The weather was perfect and all this colors awesome and the geysir a nice shower. By Campercan the to tour went on direction Tongariro Alpine with a short stop at Orakei Korako and the Tongariro River Loop Track. Lu like nice hiking tours and what could be the best for her birthday? Of course the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We started early in the morning and walked approximately 9 hours over gras, stones, snow and colorful water. Now we had to leave the Heart of North New Zealand and went over Taranaki Falls to the East Coast with the goal Napier. The weather was cloudy and often raining but a small sightseeing was a must have. The last stop on the North Irland was Wellington. But it was only raining and some streets were already flooded. That’s why we change spontanic our plan and only did the First Cache of New Zealand and went by ship over the Marlboro Sound to Picton. We went over Farewell Spit to the lonely Wharariki Beach with sea lions. On the way back to the big streets we stopped at Waikoropupu Spring and Janie Sesson Shipwreck and drove untypical to Karamea. In Germany we do not have this much and public caves and that’s way we enjoyed this area! Cloth to the West Coast we took a look at the Pancake Rocks. The weather was just raining and so we could not see the Franz Josef and Fox Glacier, but we still visited them. We leaved the bad weather in the hills and enjoyed the Sun at Ship Creek, Thunder Creek, Fantail Falls and the Blue Pools. Wow they were relly blue and this clean and deep. I never saw something similar before. About Wanaka we read a lot in our travel guide and looked forward to it. There arrived we visited the Puzzling World and walked around the sea. Queenstown the next town we drove just through because at this time there was a marathon and it was really campervan unfriendly. So we used the time and drove to Milford Sound and enjoyed the hills surround us on the water. I never felt this small. After we are landed again on land the trip goes on to the Chasm and Clifden Caves and the Clifden Suspension Bridge. Wow what an adventure. At the end we visited a few cities like Bluff, Duneding, Moeraki Boulders and Christchurch were our Trip sadly ends.
At all this places we looked for nice and unique caches which shows us places which we never would had seen without. We enjoyed the nature and wildlife each day and it was really an adventure for life. At the end we drove approximately 5000 kilometeres and felt this relaxed.
Thanks to all owners for placing this caches and this much informations which we got about the particular areas. This was an adventure for life for us. Thanks for this beauty time.

#13246. We have bad memories of this line of trees (from an unsuccessful search for a multi that had something to do with spiders, which happened many years ago). Today's visit was a happier one, and the cache was located after a short search. TFTC.
StreetWalker and I decided to spend Labour Weekend in Geraldine, our first visit there since passing through four years ago on our way back from the Dunedin Mega, and there were heaps of caches placed in the area since then that needed our attention .
By the time we neared Ashburton, we found ourselves in a long convoy, so we were more than happy to pull over and find a few caches and let the traffic get on ahead. After a bit of circling around, all I found was rubbish, but SW spotted the cache and soon had the paperwork done. TFTC.

Beaut arvo for a bit of caching. Was after a cache to leave a trackable in, was told this one had plenty of room. Bit of a struggle to retrieve in skinny jeans and jandals, but success never the less and a bit of child hood nostalgia. TFTC.
Meant to log this a while ago and forgot to get round to it! Quick find with Caiktin & Geomum
TFTC! (Sorry about the generic logging)
TFTC! (Sorry about the generic logging)
Sighted the cache (well, you can't miss it really!) Geomum completed the deed and we have 2 smiley faces YAY! TFTC
Thanks for the challenge It is many years since i have climbed a tree at 70 I won't be doing that to often.thanks again
A quick find and a fun tree climb to nab the smiley with my Mum Busy Paws. TFTC.
Day 2 of my impromptu trip south to Dunedin. Planned entirely at the last minute on Tuesday, for travel on Wednesday and Thursday. I flew down from Christchurch and picked up a free rental car, then started the fairly indirect route back north, via Oamaru to stay the night. Knowing I wouldn’t have time to get every single cache (who would), I decided on a fairly all over the place list of caches I thought I would be doing well to get to. Thanks to all the CO’s along the way. Finally found, 2nd or 3rd attempt. Other times have been in the dark and I felt unsafe in what felt like a dodgy wooded area. Lucky I hadn't seen it because retrieving in the dark would have been risky. But no trouble today. TFTC (2766)
Being a grandmother I am proud to have claimed this one by myself, with the help Mr E watching and directing. Another favourite added, thanks N!mrod
I liked the hide. I would have liked it even more if it hadn't rained as i retrieved the cache. TFTC
A quick stop on our way south. An interesting cache to stop and find. A wee little climb to retrieve the cache. Thank you
Tftc youngest cacher found and second cacher obtained it a great team effort
Traveling South with Injeanious from Chch to Dunedin for a weekend visit. We found the most caches in one day ever, for us going down, then did even better on the return trip heading back up State Highway 1. Had a great time grabbing this one, TFTC!!
We were continuing our road trip to Christchurch when we decided to pull over and pick up this cache. Not much hope for the GPS under those trees but we figured we had a shot. Saw a likely suspect and then spotted the cache. It's a good thing the Jess.daphne likes to do these sort of adventurous activities. She had it in no time! TFTC.
This one turned out easier than we feared. Almost a park and grab, with a bit extra of course. Cool cache.
After checking out the list of attributes I figured out where the cache would be within the GZ.
Cheers for the cache.
