A nice day geocaching and hiking south of Adelaide. @jesswrigley and I began the day visiting a targeted D/T 5.0/3.5 cache that I needed for my fourth D/T loop, and then we attended the Morphett Vale CITO cleaning up the rail trail bike path park with a fair amount of litter and rubbish around the place. From there, we then headed south to Onkaparinga River National Park and walked down to the gorge / Punchbowl area. A spectacular area, yet some leg burn with the downhill/uphill treks. We then enjoyed a nice Port Noarlunga bakery lunch stop, before making a few last stops returning home.

An interesting little dam that was all dry during our visit today. A quick-ish find, with the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Lava12 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Today I headed out after getting my chores done to find a multi. I had one in mind at Onkaparinga NP, so with that in mind I headed out.
I managed to find 11 caches in total on a really random drive and pick up of caches.
Really enjoyed my few hours out, enjoyed there sunshine, walking today was a good day to be alive .
Many of the caches seemed to have been placed in the last month or so and all were found in super condition.
Nice walk to find this one TFTC Lava

Such a lovely area to explore despite the hot weather.

I decided to head to Adelaide to catch up with GoodLook. She'd kindly put together a list of 'must do' caches for us to find so we set about driving several hundred kilometres seeking them and others of interest. This cache was on the list and I'm pleased it was.

Thank you Lava12 for placing this cache for our enjoyment.

Yuck it was such a hot day - I did ask myself why we decided on going for a walk here! Fortunately we had loads of water with us and an airconditioned car to escape into.

Found with the lovely micaparamedic who came to Adelaide to visit me for the weekend..... loads of kms travelled - filled with fun, laughter, caching and yummy meals - what more could one want?!

Thanks for placing the cache Smile

Had been planning to do this cache but abandoned half way there due to LIGHTNING!!!!!!! A little earlier a lightning bolt had come to earth about 100m. from me while doing the nearby "Mine Too" cache. By the time we had got near this cache we thought things were clearing …. they weren't!!!!!! While I have a great love for finding little plastic boxes in the bush, and aren't bothered by spiders or snakes , hearing a clap of thunder and simultaneously seeing the lightning does tend to put one off.

Woo hoo it's Friday again. For a third time I met up with Froghopping for another great trek into the Onkaparinga River National Park on the search for those elusive smileys. Cool Continuing our clockwise navigation around the park we finished all the precursor ORNP series which we needed to confirm the locations of the two puzzles we need to find to obtain the coordinates of the final in series. Surprised Today we added about 15 kms of hiking and went up 88 floors of elevation. [B)] We got about a half dozen others in the park as well. Still gonna take yet a few more trips. [:o)]
One of the other quick finds whilst searching the park for smileys. Smile

Amidst all of Adelaide's terrible weather of late, I made the most of today's sunshine and went for a walk with geowife and geotoddler in Onkaparinga River National Park. The spring flowers were out, with orange and purple everywhere so it was a gorgeous time to explore this section of the National Park. The track was still a bit muddy in parts, but was mostly in good condition. Plenty of birds about enjoying the sunshine with us.

Cache was a quick find in the obvious spot. Couldn't remove it from it's hiding place, so had to remove the lid and extract the log from where it was located. No problem though. Log and contents were clean and dry. TNLNSL TFTC

Thanks, you had me wondering how you got the cache where it is, thought you might be a tree bender, if such a person exists?

What a cute little dam, this was the spot to sit down and make some hot chocolate. Found this cache pretty quickly though retrieval was a pain. I thought I was disturbing a wasps nest. Logs can be deceiving. Despite that there was a beehive around the dam too.Gorgeous spot... check, moon reflecting in gorgeous way... check. Frothy hot chocolate to boost the spirits and to celebrate the cache... check. Thank you Lava12 for bringing me here.

The sun was shining and inviting us out to explore, so off to the Onka Gorge we went with our favourite caching partners, the Parko's.
We decided to pick up a few of the 'top' caches as well as exploring what was down below. After a quick search we had the cache in hand and log signed.

Came up here after work for a nice little stroll to grab a couple of the close caches. Big Grin Made my way to this one and was disappointed that I didn't see any wildlife on my walk, it was only when I was nearly back to the gate that I saw 4 kangaroos just standing watching me walk by...and I was happy with that. Cool The dam was bone dry but I'm sure it would be different in winter. Cool
Thanks for the cache lava. Smile

Nice easy find on a lovely day to be out and about.

Found at 1:56:00 PM

Mr Tardis went for a lovely day of hiking, bush bashing and moaning up and down steep terrain with some lovely views of Onkaparinga River and Gorge. Accompanied by a keen mob of intrepid explorers; *Cache_or_Check*, e.gregory1, Gordon Patrick Samuel, Malco, MtnLioness, Mr Scoobster and Tiger_Muffin. I managed 16 caches for the day, mostly in or around the Onkaparinga National Park.

On the way back home I went for a nice walk to grab this one. A nice little area that I didn't know existed before.

Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Lava12.

The aptly named 'Onka Octet' that consisted of e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, Malco!, MtnLioness, Mr Scoobster, TigerMuffin and *Cache_or_Check* were out for the day caching in the beautiful Onkaparinga Gorge area.
It was wet, chilly and very slippery due to the abundance of stupid Soursobs that resist most every effort expensive shoes try to grip their surroundings and stop you from falling amidst their bright sunny faces. I never fell, not once, but I heard the frog fall a number of times much to the amusement of all.

Little Dam, there were little white flowers nearby, how pretty!!

WOW.. WHAT A DAY!!..
I was invited out to join the group on a 'casual stroll around the tracks'... so I was happy to say yes.. then the notificaitons came through "bring wet weather gear, good hiking boots, arrive at 7am and bring about 4 days worth of food and water' :O WHAT THE??
But Mr Scoobster being the intrepid adventurer complied.

Spent a wonderful day doing some great caches in the Onk Hills.. Great multis'.. with some great views and some very interesting cache stories.
Have never cached in this area and it was nice to tick some of these more difficult ones off the list.

Thanks for brigning us to this wonderful location.

Found on a very eventful and entertaining day of hiking in Onkaparinga River NP with *Cache_or_Check*, e.gregory1, Freddo, Malco!, MtnLioness, a Scoobster and Tiger Muffin. Cool and showery meant the ground was slippery and the grass continually wet; there were steep descents, river crossings, slippery rocks, and strenuous ascents; an awesome day out with plenty of banter, fantastic views of the Onkaparinga Gorge and great caches. Thanks for the cache lava12!
