GPS showed 0m at one stage but despite using the hint we didn’t spot the cache. No doubt it’s there somewhere!
We are planning a trip to complete the Tongariro Crossing maybe in Feb so are doing regular walking trips to prepare ourselves - this is one of those days.
Nice walk with a great group of friends, weather was perfect, track all good.
Unfortunately although we looked this way and that, up and down we had no luck here today.

We know where this one is supposed to be thanks to a previous finder and unfortunately it has gone. We didn't have any spare containers on us otherwise we would have replaced it.
Always nice to have a reason to come back though.

This one took us quite some time, we were searching way too far away from the track and we were almost ready to give up when we all of a sudden spotted the nicely sized cache. Everything is relative and depends on from where you are looking at it and in this cache it is definitely the hint! Cache is in good condition, all nice and dry. Tftc
Out and about to find some caches for the Mystery in the Museum challenge. We did a nice hike to the dam and this one kept us stumped for quite some time. So obvious after you've discovered it. Sneaky-cool. Found together with Piratenschatzsucher and Greenkiwikids and signed as team Piraten. Tftc
There was three obvious places near the gz it could be hidden and we searched them all and thoroughly. 20 minutes later we searched most of the places it could be with us landing on one place where we can guess it should be by previous logs and fear it's missing. It seemed to be in the open and easily spotted by everyone.

A very beautiful Country with lovely places. We were able to find nice Caches and See Lots of beautiful places.
Thank you for showing us this place.

A nice straight forward find that gave us another quick breather as we continued our ascent. Tftc
Great redemption after DNF the falls reserve one. Great find. Hint makes it a quick find
Trail was a busier than expected with this being one of the only trails still open. Great day for a hike. tftc.
What better way to spend easter Monday than a bit of walking and Geocaching. Nice easy find with the help of some friends. Great weather and out early to miss the crowds.
A visit to New Zealand for a friends 25th wedding anniversary and a chance to get some Geocaching done. When we were here for their wedding the hobby had not been thought of yet.
Today we set off from Buckland to see the waterfall at Hunua, Had a walk part way round and found some of the caches near by but alas not enough time to go all the way round as I had an event to attend in Pukekohe.
All logs where possible were signed as Steve 73306 or just 73306 to save space, one was too wet but I cannot remember which one so I do apologise.
Thanks to funkymunkyzone for setting and maintaining this cache and to all other owners for setting and maintaining theirs.
My find number 6371 to date Happy caching everyone

Got my mojo back and was able to find this one
Had to wait for a group to pass by who where on their way to Camp Adair, looked like a school trip with teachers and parent helpers! Thanks for the hide FMZ.

Dear Cache Owners,
I am a German guy who stays in New Zealand for eight months.
My English is not perfect, so please don't wonder or be angry if my log entries sound a bit strange. Thanks!

Today I made a huge hike together with my host Family to Hanua Falls. While we were hiking we could find a few Caches.
We could find this one quickly.
Thanks for hiding!

Was a bit concerned about going to far off-piste with this one as the low thrum of wasps could be heard with a few flitting about. However, had this one in hand easily so all was okay. TFTC.
Didn't really need to worry about the GPS for this one - when we approached GZ the hiding spot was obvious to a caching eye. All good with the cache here
Out doing the circular walk today to the dams and trying to collect some caches along the way but not much luck with the signal. Managed to make an easy find of this cache though
Arrive at gz and had a fair idea where to look. Me and my daughter high5zoe picked a spot and she came up trumps. She doesn't usually find to many so always good when she gets one over mum. Lol tftc
This one is quite exposed but still okay in its position. Just as we were putting it back it 2 girls came around the corner and asked a few questions about the track. Wondered if they were curious about what we were up to? Added a little light cover to make it less obvious. TFTC.
Achievement Unlocked!!
I have always wanted to find a Geocache that I had never researched online prior, or indeed knew was there.... Walking the track with friends and enjoying the views I couldn't help but notice a suspicious looking plastic container, nestled in the fork of a tree! Closer inspection showed me I had found my first "Zen Cache".
Yes I am coining this action a "Zen Cache", I didn't try to find the cache, I just found it. But I am sure someone else has beaten me to the punch and this process is already known as something else.

I ran past this one before realising my mistake and having to turn around and run back past the people I had just overtaken. Never mind. Reached cache area, and after looking on the wrong side of the path looked to the other side and spotted the very obvious cache - while still in its home it had nothing covering it. It's amazing how you can suffer from blindness. log was signed and I was back to jogging down the hill
Another nice straight forward find using the hint. I bet it gets busy here in the weekends. It was nice and muggle-free on this early week day morning. And no rain!! No mud yet at this point either, thanks to the gravel. Tftc
It was a relief to find a straightforward cache, having spent a lot of time fruitlessly searching leaf litter today. There was awesome dappled sunlight through the trees at GZ. Log nice and dry. TFTC.
Found the cache on the way up the hill to meet the party of muggles coming through from the Wairoa Dam. TFTC
Coming down the track it was easy to see, after signing the log a bit more leaf litter was applied.
A group of us decided to attempt some caches further into the ranges. This one was on the way in so we decided to stop and find it. A short search resulted in the find. The clue made sense once found. Signed as Team SEAC to save space on the log.

Continuing along the trail to the large cache in the ranges and having left the previous cache for the return leg of our trip due to time restraints, we had a quick look around for this one and muggle whom was travelling with us made the find here and is very excited about this thing called geocaching, but not sure the family will keep it up.
The cache is in good shape, dry and well hidden.
Signed as SEAC to save logbook space.

GPS was pointing me to the opposite side of the track from the cache however the hint ended up leading us to the correct spot.
Not many chest height places to search so it was a pretty quick find, although it was more like head height for me as I'm vertically challenged
Tftc. Out caching with my Daughter, Son & Grandson today. So nice to be doing it as a family. Enjoyed the walk to find this well hidden cache.
On our first full day in NZL we visited Hunua Falls and hiked the Cossey Trail loop through a wonderful wood with ferns and kauri trees. Together with Sporty-Ron and Knobelboy we searched for all caches on the loop and found all but 2 of them.
This nice hide was spotted by Mrs. Cache-Knobi's sharp eye from the trail!
The Cache-Knobis from Muenster in Germany say TFTC (#3140 @ 12:35).

An later than usual start for today's caching mission, but as the wife was coming along and not the usual crew a pre-dawn start was never going to be on the cards. The days plan was a hike in the Hunua Ranges plus a few other finds in the area which suit a challenge I'm working on. We managed to located everything we hunted for, and got some stunning weather to boot, so a great day all round.
Onto the last few finds of the hike. Had just caught up to a family of muggles so had to wait for them to move one before I could make the find. Though I used that time to spot the cache nestled away from the track. A quick sign before replacing a little better. Thanks for the placement.

Heading north with a mission... Find caches that are listed as 'large' and 'not chosen' size-wise... With Gap (of Fap and Gap).
This was the furthest cache along the track for us today. The retrieval and cache business were completed fairly quickly... And not a moment later, a group of walkers appeared from behind us. They asked if we'd done the whole track... I must have looked like a full days' worth of hiking... TFTC.

Todays goal was to collect remaining caches we needed to complete our GLCS07 Licence Challenge.
2.45pm - Soon found but thought hint was a bit misleading, either the tree has grown a lot or the owner is tall. Now back to pick up we missed on the way up. SLTFTC

Obviously I need to get fitter. By the time I got to this cache I knew I wanted the shortest way home. I had started alone but found friends on the way which had kept me going. Fortunately I spotted a likely spot almost immediately. Hurray for a quick find.
Nice easy find and by the time we got there i was very exhausted. Thanks for the cache.
Fourth find of the day at the falls, great little hike and the best part is it's all down hill on the way back! TFTC. Happy Easter!
Found together with Doandhopers.
Easily spotted the stickoflage.

Nice find with Godfreyh this afternoon. How tall is tall? Started conquerin g those around the Hunua area, but the time it took to get this from the carpark and back..... its going to be a long progress if they all take that time. SL TNLN
On the Massey/Cossey track loop for a nice walk and to gather a few caches. Nice to have a couple of caches along the way, found this straight away, tftc
Found it on a walk around to the dam. Very tall chest height but good cache
Chest height for the larger cachers is eye height for the smaller crew members. Camo was missing, so we restored it.
Still walking on this one was spotted without the help of the GPS, TB drop and hid a little better, TFTC.
Mitsimadman and I continued our walk in the Hunuas this afternoon. This was a super quick find as the cache was exposed and clearly visible from the track. We rehid with an application of natural camo. Thanks for hiding these caches so they were here to find on our walk today. I know and appreciate the effort that goes into all cache placements, particularly ones along trails. Cheers for the cache placement!
Chest height for my companion maybe! . Found it easy enough though. Great little spot. TFTC
Saw this from the track- hopefully hid it a bit better. Not that anyone but a geocacher would notice it!
Second find for the day, we had to backtrack a bit to get this one, but found it with out too much difficulty. Tftc.
The GPS beeped so we looked around for two seconds and bingo! You could see it from a path. It's amazing what others don't see! I hid it better and we carried on. TFTC!
Somehow I walked right past GZ and had to double back to get this one. Left: Refrigerator magnet. TNSL. TFTC.
Mrs McMike2012 & I decided that it would be good to go for a walk in the Hunua Ranges & check out a few caches in the process. Decided on the Massey/Cossey Loop Track - 3 hours. Weather conditions were great for a bush walk. This was the 3rd of 5 for the day. TN:LN:SL. TFTC. #521 for us.
Went straight to this one - which was weird considering the trouble we'd had trying to find the previous one. Left a gold ring (plastic of course). TFTC.
Found this one where we guessed it should be. Covered cache again as found. TFTC
Returning the long way from the new cache at the dam to find a few more before returning to the car. Quick find and managed to reposition myself on the track just as a family approached - this pretending to have a drink is starting to work against me, still a long way back! TFTC!!

Went for a quick walk in the Hunua's today.
Must be at least 5 years ago that I was up here.
Easy find.

These caches can be challenging because the GPS jumps around a bit, but we learned something on the previous cache. TFTC.
Found with Mporokosa on our fun trek along the tracks of Hunua. Nice Hide. TFTC.
