Found with buckoraider today after our adventures at Casuarina sands. We got this cache after casuarina cascades, which really elevated my appreciation for a park and grab. This location was lovely and it was nice to walk only few metres out of the car for a change thanks TE for the cache
Last one for the day while out this way with Baristayan. Had a look at the chimney but retreated pretty quickly when all the bees emerged Then Baristayan made the quick find at ground zero. Thanks!
Found with Moonb1, McLookers, Maccamob, Muzza, Pprass, Team Crackers, Rabbitto et al on a day caching in the Canberra Area.
We hit Canberra on a cache assault with Alansee, maccamob, McLookers, Micaparamedic, Moonb1, Muzza , Rabbitoh and Pprass Drive
We were picking up caches around the Cotter Dam area. We did enjoy this drive and the hides and enough room for two cars at most locations.
The sun had broken through the fog by now and the scenery was great
With this many eyes looking the most of the caches were found quite quickly and the log book signed.
To save room in the Logs signed as "Vic1"
Many thanks for the cache

We found this cache on Day 2 of our Vic1 Canberra Run in company of Muzza, McLookers, Micaparamedic, Alansee, Moonb1, Maccamob, Team Crackers and Pprass. Today was our Uriarra and Cotter Loop. Thanks from D B-A
Second day of group caching in Canberra. All caches signed as Vic1. Found in a large group consisting of McLookers, Micaparamedic, Alansee, Moonb1, Rabbitto, Team Crackers and Pprass.
My thanks to Tankengine for the cache.

Alansee worked out a route for us to do today which included some very challenging AL's and we ended up at an event where the locals were to meet us! A big day that showed the beauty of the ACT and surrounds after the fog finally lifted! Most of the caches were way under rated though - nearly all of them were just a D/T of 1.5/1.5 no matter how hard they were to get to or find them - not very imaginitive in that sense.
Thanks to Tankengine

#652 A big day caching with Turtle284 out this way today, with minimal service and only our downloaded lists, we were prepared to pick up as many as we could and still get home in time to keep the family happy! We picked up a few dnfs too but that didn’t dampen our spirits, thank you to all the COs today!
It was another quick park and grab here whilst happily picking up a few more unloved months. Cache was found quickly at GZ, however the container had taken on some water. Signed the log as best as possible and replaced. Cheers Tankengine

Back out for a couple more after getting some yesterday. An easy find in an interesting location. Cheers.
A nice easy find with good parking and access. Love the history. Thanks tankengine.
Found during a quick roadside stop after a nearby event. I didn’t download it first and there was no mobile signal so there was a bit of extra challenge. Luckily it was in the first place I looked. TFTH
A good hide Tankengine and thank you for drawing our attention to the chimney. Very interesting. The inside of the cache was wet so geo hubby dried it out. Log slightly damp.
A very cool spot to visit,I took a good look around the building before coming over to search for the hide,at least theres still a fire place here to keep em warm!
Thanks Tankengine for the cache

We had some time to kill before dinner, and since the mountain road that we had intended to drive up to was closed, Kittiekatch and Graham, took me around and showed me some local caches.
We pulled up close to this one and Kittie and I got out to take a look. I'm sure she knew right where it was, but she gave me a chance to look for it on my own. Once around the old fireplace, and then I spotted the hide.
We rejoined Graham back at the car, and drove on to the next.
Thanks for the find.

It's Australia Day long weekend... so of course, Finalf29 is at Cancon and that must mean I am caching... today I'm out with ALL7.
Found while I helped ALL7 do a maintenance run on her Uriarra Road caches. We checked over 50 caches in 41 degree heat... ALL7 would have just keep going... she is a caching machine... but I had to still do the big drive home. Thanks ALL7 for the wonderful conversation, laughs (I know you are still laughing about that spider!) and putting out a great series. I will definitely be back to help you with more... if only to make you laugh! An interesting family connection to ALL7. Thanks

Took a bit of a hunt not helped by lack of reception. But found on a hot windy day at the end of the year. Tftc
It was so hot this afternoon that I was stopping only for an occasional cache.
This one looked interesting so a quick stroll up to the old chimney.
Thanks Tankengine

Spied the cache quickly and avoided all the bees swarming in the chimney .
Nice historical location .
Many thanks to Tankengine.

There was bricks. There were cobbles. There was a kind lawn mowing man. There was bees. And then I cached the cache while all this was happening in the background.
Found on a nice loop with Tank Engine. The things you learn caching! Many thanks
Thanks to Tankengine and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

I've tried the walk up from Kambah Pool, but it is simply too long to do the whole thing in a day and go look for caches... it would be 24 kilometers there and back! At best I got about halfway before and turned back. Now, I've gone and done the same from the other end, driving to Casuarina sands and heading down from there.
I managed to find nearly every cache on the route, with only one DNF and one abandoned since I thought it too dangerous to try alone.
A good walk and satisfying to finally have the rest of this trail done!
Cotter Chimney: I did this one on the way back to the car, in the last light of evening. A quick find thanks to the hint. TFTC!

I've had walking up Mt Gingera on my todo list for a while now today was the day.
On the way back to town, this was a good park & grab which was exactly what I needed. TFTC.

A very quick find while driving through the area and checking out the nearby campground and the dam. It would have been interesting living here in the 1920s and 30s.
Thanks for the hide Tankengine.
Thanks for the hide Tankengine.
This was a little bit of luck that made us stop here, we stopped in the pullover lane so we could grab the GCA engineering marker and only then did we notice this GC cache nearby.
It was a quick find when we were at GZ, thanks for the cache.

Some of the tassie contingent were out together today during the Mega. We stopped here for the engineering marker (GCA) and then realized there was a traditional cache here too We made a quick find and moved on. We did admire the huge dam as we came down the hill!
Thanks Tankengine

We are very much enloying the Mega event with a choice of so many caches to look for each day. Each log found had another name noted and all logs and containers were put back just as they had been found. This was a nice quick and easy find and we were quickly on the move again. Our thanks go to Tankengine for placing and maintaining this cache for us to find.
While attending the Mega at Queanbeyan we decided to go a bit further out a pick up some caches to add some smilies to our caching map. The cache was easy enough to find, log was signed, all OK. TFTC.
Another great day out with woolwood9 hunting containers.
SL - Stamped logs as TM/WW NZ or printed tm421/ ww9

Found with a brand new Muggle who had two GPS's neither of which had the provided co-ords entered and didn't work when they did! Said Muggle was impressed with my find (nice and easy, Tankengine, thank you) in spite of quite heavy rain but the log is petty wet and needs a bit of maintenance.
fitzy_1965 and I were out and about today with a push for me to get 2000 caches for the year. At the start of the day I had 50 to collect.....and ended up with 59.
Targeted the easy drive by caches for the most part of the day with all caches found quickly and easily. Thanks to the CO's for placing.
fitzy had already found this one so I ventured off myself to claim the smiley. There was water inside the cache and the log a bit wet.

The geoson and I are out here today for a Christmas party at the Cotter. We dropped past here on the way. We enjoyed reading about the history of the cottage and the pumping station. The geoson was impressed with the equipment we spied inside the station.
The chimney was infested with bees today so we were glad the cache was not located in the fireplace. This was our third cache find today.

Last night I had decided to set out early and try for big numbers again today. That plan was thwarted 3 times - breakfast out with the girls after gym; sidetracked looking at possible caches for the weekend and meeting up with fellow cachers - just had to stop and chat.
By the time I left them, smilie #5, it was well after a late lunch and I had revised my aim to 12 caches so that I only had 200 till my 6000 at Parkville. All caches attempted now carry my name though often as SG as it is quicker. TNLN

With limited phone coverage I had no idea what I was looking for here but coordinates spot on and hide obvious so quickly found. Will need to read the cache notes later - TFTC
What a lovely ruin to visit. Shame for the previous occupants, knowing what went on here in 2003 but hope they have resettled well elsewhere. TFTC
We came across your cache, Tankengine, on our geocaching holiday in Canberra.
Mrs RoddyC did not have this one offline on her phone but was able to walk straight up to it before I had time to tell her about it.
Log signed and replaced at 12:56 pm on 8 March 2018. TFTC.

Hah!! Caught up on my logging. I'm out earlyish today, before it gets too hot, with 39 deg predicted. I've got the GeoSchnauzers and GeoCavoodles along for the ride, in my nice cool car. I'm into the 40s for my current streak, on my way to 365 for Professor RapidlyWild. This was a nice easy park and grab, with no-one around. Left DNA traces in the form of sweat after the 20m walk to GZ. It's hot. And humid. The dogs wanted to come, but it wasn't worth getting them out of the car. I don't think it is hot enough for them to refuse to get out. The GeoSchnauzers did once, on one of my Queensland trips.
Thanks, Tankengine.
Thanks, Tankengine.
Headed out for a BBQ at the cotter so thought we would stop and pick this one up. A nice quick find before we entered the no reception zone. Tftc
After a weekend of sitting sewing/etc, and stuffing my face with way too much food, at a quilt retreat nearby at Greenhills, I decided I needed some excercise, and what better than a bit of Geocaching therapy on top of the quilting therapy? lol
This was find # 3 for the day (2nd after the quilt retreat - I went and found one down the river before breakfast, causing some entertainment when I walked in to the dining room half way through breakfast with a smile on my face and scratches and blood on my arms - lol)
TFTC - I am sure my family think Geocaching will be the ruin of me... thanks for making me finally stop and have a look at this

3rd find, approached differently on 2nd attempt, love finding out history about Canberra! Beautiful spot to sit and admire the views on such a beautiful day....
Found while on a cotter run with Froggycache
This was, surprisingly easy for a TE cache.. Beelined to likely spot and it was quickly retrieved. TFTC TE!

An interesting spot that we probably would have driven straight past had it not been for this cache. It was interesting to see a photo of the chimney later on in the day when the 2003 fires were going through. TFTC!

I found it and as I was putting it back another person looking for it was walking up
Out with BonEm on a caching run with good coffee thrown in.
Another easy quick drive by, especially when to walk up behind another cacher signing the log.. nice to meet you Ghost!!
BonEm and myself then proceeded to grab a look through the buildings windows to check out the old pumping equipment. Quite a fascinating piece of history.

Found by Mary & David at 1314. At least this area is familiar from the days when we lived in Canberra and used to picnic here around 1978. A cool day, but time for a few caches before we have to collect the grandchildren after school. Oh the responsibility, while both parents are on duty in Melbourne at the Air Show all week. Our thanks to Tankengine.
Have never stopped here to look at this site, so thanks for the opportunity. Dty73 & aquilis1 did not know about this place either. Enjoying a night out. Kutgw
Out with Aquilus1 and Youban on a warm evening collecting some caches. Always drove pass this chimney, the is the first time I've stopped and what a cute little structure. Tftc!!!
After a hot day nothing better than heading out in the cool of the night for a bit of caching. With Youban and dty73 we made the find here at this chimney. Usually I'm looking ahead at the bridge and don't look up so was suprised to see this here and after finding the cache made sure to explore all including the stove! Thanks for the cache Tankengine!
Found on my way to do nearby caches. Nice spot here. Was only thinking earlier that I haven't done many tankengine caches. Time to work on that.
Important tip - read the cache description, check the hint, and look at the spoiler picture. Alternatively, just get Fitzy_1965 to suggest that you shouldn't be looking on the chimney itself... Great excuse to stop off and take a closer look at the old pumping station.
TNLN - Thanks Tankengine!

We've had a great day caching, from Gundaroo across to Pierces Creek Forest (Cotter). The weather has been absolutely perfect today and wandering through the forest was so peaceful with only the sounds of birds singing. After coming across a brown snake at our first cache of the day (at Gundaroo) we kept a good look out but thankfully we didn't see any more today. We didn't see one car whilst in the forest, it was great! We had a beaut picnic lunch in the forest after finding one of the caches in a nice spot and didn't head home to the caravan until after 4pm. This was early for us as we wanted to get to the Sutton Baker before closing time. Can really recommend the coffee and pies there! All the caches in the forest were in good condition and fairly easy to find, but some we didn't attempt as the terrain rating was beyond us seniors (we did check them out before deciding this).
Thanks to all the cache owners for the fun we've had today, it's much appreciated. TFTC:)

Out with the twin terrors today - first real adventure after our northern hemisphere excursion - great to be back! TFTC Tankengine.
Just a quick park and grab really, but stopped long enough to ponder the ruins and what the old folks must have felt like here, begging for some decent accommodation! Noticed some wood in the fireplace ready for a nice little fire and warmth! TFTC
Found quite a while back but forgot to log this one. Found fn a day out to the Cotter with Kittykatch and Grimraider. First time I have stopped and looked inside the pumping station. Very impressive. TFTC
We were in a hurry and did not have phone service so we missed all the hints and descriptions.
Finished off a job in Pierces Creek this afternoon and picked up this cache on my way back to the Canberra. Nice spot - I'll have to venture back out this way one weekend and pick up a few more caches. Thanks for this one, Tankengine.
Granville86a and dghoffy decided to hit the local area to bag a few more caches after attending the cotter meet and greet. this was the last for our day, feeling very satisfied tftc
Found with dghoffy on our way back to campsite at Cotter Dam. My last find of the Easter break before heading off to the bus station in the morning to catch the bus to Sydney and the home to New Zealand.
Found with AngelG27 and SharkieFan on the way to the event at the Cotter. Quick find and nice chimney. Thanks TE
