Our family moved to Christchurch a few months back, and since then we have had the privilege of hosting some of my Wellington Puzzlers group members for caching weekends. This weekend was TwigNZ's turn, and a visit to Lincoln to try to cache the place out seemed like an excellent idea.It appears that someone has literally taken the seat... If the cache was on the seat it has now gone.
I very much love getting to visit the South Island. Until recently it wasn't something I got to do very often, but in the last year I've managed a series of mini-trips for geocaching, and here we are at the start of 2024 with another one. Just like my first SI trip in 2023, I've come to Christchurch to target a few specific caches to help with my Jasmer Grid, and qualification for a few challenges I'm currently working on.This is Day 3, and after spending the morning clearing out the Glossary of Geocaching series on my own, I had now teamed up with my friend ThatDarnBear, who has recently relocated to Chch and has been hosting me during my visit to the garden city. We had looked at the map and spotted a good looking cluster of caches in and around Lincoln, so went for a drive...Two rudimentary options here. The co-ords took us to a location with space for a seat, but no seat. About 12m away is a seat, but no cache. So either someone has literally taken a seat, or else the co-ords are wrong and the cache is MIA anyway. There is perhaps a third option, and that we simply failed to find the cache, but I do think one of the first 2 options is most likely.
Found a hole where I think the cache was supposed to be? Not sure..but the bench under the trellis is no longer there
Bit hard to take a seat as it seems to have gone AWOL. I felt all around the trellis but couldn't find anything. Maybe another time.
First find of the day! Quick easy find all nice and dry inside. Flew down from palmy for Christmas and swapped houses with a friend. Don’t have many caches left to find at home base so We’ll try to clean up some of the caches here and hopefully pass 400 finds!
I wrote in the log and concealed the cache carefully back as found, TFTCSL, Thanks drawp for this Traditional cache!

Great cache we got it just in time before it started peeing it down with rain.

We took the seat. And we carried it away.
Haha, no the seat is still there.
We were wondering about that rectangular gravel pitch in the park - what is that for!?
Kia ora! Paldies!

It took us a while but after reaching into a place that we could not see into, we felt the cache on its little hook. Phew! Glad to turn the frown into a smilie. TFTC!
Up from down south caching around Rolleston. Eyes on the Smurf and Eclipse Series plus any extras around the vicinity.

Woohoo! After last time's DNF the cache was found quickly this morning.
Thank you to the cache owner

Not sure where we went wrong with this. We inspected every inch of the structure very carefully; we sat on the seat and reached into the foliage, and got up close and personal with the foliage. We stood on the seat and looked at the top of the structure. Huummpf. Foiled.
This is a hidden away wee park with a great looking petanque court. There seemed to be quite a few possibilities of where this could be hidden. My first feel round didn't come up with anything so I went back to the path and looked from that direction - signed off quickly after that, TFTC # 17,444
Went back today to find the cache. I can seen where it's supposed to be and looked in the vicinity to locate but no luck.
Had a long look this evening but sadly wasn't able to find it. I could see many potential hiding places but ... no luck! Will try again another time.
Another one that took a while. I spent most of my time at the wrong seat. But finally zeroed in and got this one snagged and tagged. Lovely little park. Cheers
Its a long weekend in Christchurch, with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby, and Star Gazing on the radar. Unfortunately clouds put paid to seeing stars but great event meeting up with the locals. Enjoyed visiting Halswell Quarry, Lincoln, Port Hills and running around after the Smurf family. Cool, fine days and NO rain made for an awesome weekend. Will be back again soon.

Two obvious locations. I took the more obvious one, the dragon tackled the other. She was soon finished but I was still hunting, so we swapped. Yep, I agree, her location was not where the cache was. Back here we kept going. Eventually found the cache in a much easier place than I would have hidden it (which is why it took us so long to find it!
Came down on Thursday night with Taybeedragon for a three day geocaching trip and to collect a rare cache type - so rare that this will be the first ever for me - a 10-Year Celebration Event cache (now rejigged as Community Celebration Events). But that, with some adventure labs and Halswell Quarry, was a couple of days ago. Yesterday we smurfed a bunch of caches, and today we are off to check out Lincoln (and another adventure lab) then head home at about lunch time.

After extensively reading the logs of previous finds and searching in what seemed like the obvious places, then the not so obvious places, before finally resorting to shoving my hands in the trees and feeling behind all the posts, I'm stumped. Maybe next time.
Very nicely hidden. The boy made the find while we are killing time waiting for lunch takeaways. TFTC
We had been to GIFF Event and did a few cache on the way home. Well and truely raining now but still wanted to pop in and look haha. This is an interesting seat and we guess a Petanque court. Thanks for this cache drawp.
Had a site visit to make in Lincoln so combined it with lunch to make a few finds out that way. This was a previous DNF and it took some time then the penny dropped and the clever cache was to hand! A favourite from me. Thanks to all the CO's for the effort of placing and maintaining the caches.
Stunning Lincoln morning with Blue skies. This had me stumped for a while then had that duh moment. Cache soon in hand & log signed. Beautiful small park. TFTC
Continuing my Lincoln walkabout, this was a short detour. Nice spot for a well-hidden cache; thanks for bringing me out this way.
I have been told be rustynz that its time to log my Christchurch finds
Came into town for a 3 day weekend of fun with a group of Westies (rustynz, gorby & jag50)
Sorry for the generic log - but thanks to the CO for creating and maintaining their caches.

Down in Christchurch for a few days with Gorby, Rebel98 and RustyNZ. After completing the glossary geocaching series and then lunch, we had some spare time before heading to the Lincoln GIFF. Didn't take tool long to find the cache and we signed in as Team West as the log is almost full.
Caching with Team West (rustynz, rebel98, gorby & jag50) day 2, of our wild weekend of fun in Christchurch
Was ready for a seat, as we have been walking and exploring the walkways, and next stop is the car
Found by jag50, I was focusing my efforts over there, which was the wrong spot [:0]
Thanks for the hide and bringing us here.

A group of us West Aucklanders came down to Christchurch for 3 days of caching fun and adventures. Today we happen to be rustynz, Rebel98 and Jag50 x2 and myself Gorby. We do this on a frequent basis… go away for 3 days here there and everywhere, hire a car and go for it caching!
Today, Mr Jag5o drove us around, I did most of the navigating, occasionally Mrs Jag50 checked up with me, and we all got out of the vehicle at some point to make the finds, but mostly it was rustynz and Mrs Jag who did the finds.
I was ready for a seat too. Have been walking for awhile around these streets, nice way to see things though.
