Walked up from the Kenton track on the first sunny day in a while, but with what a piercing icy wind! Found a happy dry cache, signed with frozen fingers, stopped in the lee of the boulder for a nut bar and to enjoy the view, and then back down again. Tftc!

#3,643: Broken Smiley!
What a nice day out! I came out to this area on an FTF hunt (success!). How could I pass up the chance to do some more. Last one of the day for me. Saw some sheep on the way up, and one dead one, which didn't smell so good... Liked the walk through the field to get here. Tried to find the original, but wasn't sure where it was.
SL/TFTC!!

07-Oct-18
It wasn't as big as I was expecting. It must have only been very shallowly rooted for them to worry about. TFTC.

21-Sep-18
A quick wander down and across from the Summit Rd and the cache hiding place was spotted. As you say, no hint needed. Many thanks! #3194

08-Sep-18
#16115. We parked on the summit road and walked down to this one. We made a quick find, and after admiring the views headed back up to the car. TFTC.

08-Sep-18
StreetWalker and I headed to the hills this morning to find some caches to bring our find count for the 8th Sept to at least 20 finds. A successful outing with all caches looked for found.
After finding a few caches further down the hill, we drove to the Summit Rd to have a non strenuous walk to GZ. It's been a while since we have been to this part of the hills, pre earthquakes I think.
It didn't take long to get to GZ, where the cache was a quick find. The grass was long and wet, so we by the time we got back to the car, our feet were a bit wet. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

18-Aug-18
After attending the International Geocaching Day event we decided on a short Geocaching walk today, after a 4 hour one yesterday! Beautiful up here. Tftc

14-Jul-18
Was riding along the summit road. Stopped and diverted on foot to grab this cache. Quick find at GZ. Lovely day. Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. Team Broadbent aka TB (prev known as BJ25). Find # 1742

We went up to the peak of Mount Pleasant to see the fireworks in Lyttelton tonight. Alas we were a tad too late and missed them by like 5 minutes.
Well, still a real nice night-view to all directions. Had only been up to the peak at daytime before.
On the way down we ventured after this cache and had a wee nightly dog walk.
Rescued a TB that's been sitting there for almost a year and dropped another one (hopefully will not have the same fate).

I was keen on exploring another part of the city while we are here for only 2 nights (1 full day). So far I have wandered around Hagley park and have been to the local market in Lyttelton. Now we have taken another scenic route before heading back to the city. We parked up prior to the end of the road after seeing a couple of road closed signs. Jumped out to enjoy the views and wandered along the track. Had to do a wee bush bash thru the long weeds but found GZ pretty quickly.
Love the views and helps on such a nice day. TFTC KiwiHarvs

It was a beautiful day, and I wanted to make the most of my last week of maternity leave. So I decided that I should really tick off these caches off my unfound list. My main aim was carabiner city, as it filled a gap in my DT grid to filling it twice over! But with 4 other caches in the area, planned a bit of a loop about.
My mother in law was around too, having just flown in from overseas so asked if she wanted to come join, great, so a nice wee walk was planned!

What lovely views up here!! Quite windy, but a wonderful spot!

TFTC!! Smile

We flew over 20500 kilometers to get to New Zealand. [^] There in Queenstown we started our magnificent and unforgettable journey along the whole NZ. First we drove through south island and then the north island to Auckland. Altogether over 3000 kilometers by car and so many glorious and beautiful views, animals and plants we saw. [^] Cool We fell in love with the country for life. Unfortunately we had only three weeks to spend for our holidays, but we really hope, we’ll be back. Big Grin

Another cache found at the John Britten Reserve's beautiful scenery. The sun was shining all the time warmer and warmer, so we had a very great time here up. Thanks for the cache and very many greetings from Finland. Big Grin

One of five caches I located on the hills on a pleasant Monday morning. Good little walk to the hide. Passed a few other boulders that looked like they might take a tumble in the next big shake. Reasonably quick find once at GZ. #793. TFTC.

Thought I would spend time in the hills today before the cricket keeps me on the couch. Nice quick find amongst the sheep poo!

Slogged up the hill in the heat, knowing it wasn't too far and we would get the joy of heading back down hill. Fantastic view of what is left of our city, and stunning views over looking new brighton, on a lovely day. So they drilled holes in all the boulders to split them open so they couldn't roll down the hill, must have been a huge job. Great that we can keep these tracks open (although some round are not). i Love Christchurch and all it's glory. Three years ago today we changed. We will be stronger than ever, we are survivors Kia Kaha (stay strong)

Interesting to note the tiny fossilised shellfish in the bubble exposed by breaking the rock. Up here on an ideal caching day, cold wet and foggy.
Cheers and thanks,

A bonus to get this one - my wife chose the track to walk up today and look: a cache to do! A quick detour and Rincewind jr found the cache. A very blustery day today but we continued around to to gondola and back. A nice wee stretch of the legs.

Great late afternoon for a wander. Just collected Carabiner City.....moved car round to this corner & quickly wandered down for the find and sign. Of all the rocks and boulders up here on this ridge, why blow this one? weird. Great views across the city. Even watched the fire on the tip of South Shore for a while....CHeers.
