A late afternoon stop and stretch of the legs whilst heading north before finding a spot to camp for the night. The views around here are just spectacular! TFTC!Cheers,The Hancock Clan
Today a relapse of my diverticulitis, fish and chips last night was a very bad idea even if delicious at the time.Managed to get organized and eventually for move to Queeny and then once installed at the footie oval we headed out for a drive. Id love to say it was a quick find here but took me ages to hunt down the container. TFTC we love all the lakes and dams in Tassie
Had to look around a bit as I had no service, but got there fairly easily. Nice spot for a cache, lovely breeze up the top of the hill. TFTC
Made my to GZ. Could see where others had stopped about. Description of location rang true. But alas ! No cache ........ only an empty tinnie, which may have been exchanged for the cache. left disappointed on this one. This is our day 4 on a west coaster sojourn, including a Fanny Lumsden gig at the Paragon Theatre in Queenie tomorrow. TFTC and other on this route, which we would not have visited on this trip if the FatMan Barge at Corinna was operating.
All the flowers have been delivered and we are now heading home. Had to stop here and take in the amazing views
Today I am joining my friend for a loop drive delivering wreaths, for ANZAC Day tomorrow. We will be travelling from Queenstown to Strahan, Zeehan, Rosebery, Tullah and back to Queenie.
I felt privileged to be a part of delivering these beautiful flowers to the RSL clubs on the West Coast.

Nalezeno společně s Radoshordos během měsíčního výletu do Malajsie, Singapuru, Bruneje a Austrálie, kde byla hlavním cílem celého výletu Tasmánie. Singapore se zároveň stává mojí 39. navštívenou zemí a Austrálie mojí 40. navštívenou zemí.
Keš jsem našel během chvilky společně s Radoshordos. Děkuji za přivedení na další zajímavé místo a za další bod do sbírky.
Zdravím z České republiky.
Found it during a one-month trip together with Radoshordos to Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Australia, where Tasmania's was main destination of the whole vacation. Singapore is also becoming my 39th visited country and Australia my 40th visited country.
I found the cash in a moment with Radoshordos. Thank you for bringing me to another interesting place and for the next point to the collection. Greetings from the Czech Republic.

Good grief, BlueBM has a knack for this! He had to use the GPS unit off the sidecar as our phones were useless and our etrex back home in Melbourne! TFTC
Out n about with m4yb grabbing a few caches.
On our way to Queenstown and she spotted this one, she made hard work of a it and I went straight to it! But my poor knees don’t like it or the cold! Yeah I’m from Perth and love the heat.
Thanks for the hide & thomarter

Megawat60 and I are now headed to Strahan. Stopped here, magnificent views! He found a better way up and the cache, I just followed and did SL duty. TFTC!
Found this one after a little hunting. Should have listened to my gps with was within 1m of cache and not get drawn to the more suggestive location.

TFTC,
After finishing GCG2NR, it was time to explore via a trip to Tullah and Rosebery. Must recommend a vist to the history photos at the cafe near the Post Office in Tullah. Learnt so much by talking to locals.
Now to the cache, well hidden cache that took some sniffing around to locate.

On our way to Tullah, stopped to find this one, worked out which way to go, got near GZ and then a short search to find the container, Wazza9 located it signed log and replaced. Thanks to thomarter.
Found it when staying in Tullah, on a trip to Strahan, during my motorcycle holiday on this marvelous island.
Tasmania Day 5: Devonport - Cradle Mountain - Queenstown
On this leg of the Tassie Tour, we leave Devonport and head towards Cradle Country for a short sojourn before entering the Western Wilderness. We drove from Devonport, up the Forth River Valley into the National Park for a short walk around Dove Lake and the Enchanted Walk before having lunch nearby. After lunch, we drove into the remote but spectacular Western part of Tasmania where the road wound through spectacular valleys and lakes. Another beautiful and great day in Tassie and of course, there was caching is some of these brilliant places. Thanks for all the caches along the way!
This is the specific log for this cache:
We needed to find a place to stop to take in the view. But with the 12 degrees temperature and the high winds, this would be a challenging find for tropical creatures like us. I dragged myself up the hill, and pranced about looking for the cache, and found it to some relief. Enjoyed a short glimpse of the view from above, signed in, and headed back to the warmth of the car. TFTC!

While in Tasmania with PlagueRider, we stopped at a few geocaches as we wandered around from place to place exploring this little gem down under. This was one of the ones that we found. Thanks to all cache owners for putting these out here for us to hunt!
I left Adelaide ten days ago and slowly made my way across to Melbourne, then across on the ferry, and now I’m headed to Hobart, primarily to catch up with family and friends. But I have also been chasing down some selected caches, as well as a few opportunistic finds along the way.
Today I travelled from near Stanley, down to Queenstown via Tullah, then on to Bronte Lagoon where I camped.
A quick scurry up the hill and I soon had the cache in hand.
Thanks thomarter for the cache.

Tassie Trip Day 40 - Today was a fill in the holes day as we missed so many on our way from Waratah so off we went just the mobile half of the team and went back to Tullah and Roseburry to collect what was left behind. Along the way we went first to Lake Plimsoll for a look and ended up with 2 DNFs today.
Arrived at the GZ and carried out a search for some 20min however even give the limited places and the descriptive hint I was unable to find the cache so a DNF today
Thanks thomarter for showing us this place and the view was worth the effort.

Driving from Moina to Strahan today, enjoying the views and caching, including a few detours as they take us to interesting places. Stopped off here for our picnic lunch, so I took the climb up the hill to find the cache whilst Chris made the sandwiches. Good view and a quick and easy find at the coordinates. SL. TFTC.
My husband found this one for me, as I was so not wearing the right shoes for caching!! He did a good job, considering he usually sits and waits for me to find them. Thanks for the cache .
Accurate coordinates made for a quick find after a short walk up the hill.

After attending an event at Waratah we then made our way to Queenstown visiting as many caches as we could! We knew treasuretrakas would be at this cache as we had met earlier and we were hoping they hadn’t found it yet!!! Saw a figure on a little rocky hill top so lady membsec thought it was only appropriate for male membsec to join mr treasuretrakas at GZ while the females talked all about geocaching. This was to be our last Cache for the day.

Struck wet and rainy weather as we headed north through here so again we missed out on some of the sights at least. Still got this cache though.
A stroll up the hill at dusk left us with an awe inspiring panorama of the surrounding mountains.

Trekked up the hill through button grass an Owen Conglomerate boulders. Rewarded with special views out over the lake. Cache took a while to find but got there. A little parched following the climb so took a sip of the tannin stained waters.. thanks..!!
After a sporty walk we found it after a short search.
Unfortunately it was raining and windy.

Two Norwegian travellers on vacation/geocaching in Australia. Travelling by car from Brisbane to Adelaide with stops in interesting and not so interesting places. We have been travelling almost 5000 kilometers before we returned the car in Adelaide last week. Then we flew over to Tassie, hired a new car and will do a rouindtrip the next 2 weeks. After spending 2 days in Hobart in sunshine we started towards Cradle mountain. Had a night in Queenstown before we continued.
Lake plimsoll was the first one today.
All old sailors (like Pedro) know the story about the Plimsoll's mark.

We really enjoyed the drive to Lake Plimsoll from Tullah. The scenery was just spectacular. The team tried their hand at fishing again but no luck today. Whilst I was making lunch Team M decided to tackle the cache. He agreed with previous finders it was very slippery but the views were worth it from GZ. SL TFTC thomarter.
We think we are Jonahs with the weather. Everywhere we go it rains. We found walking (clambering or climbing?0 down from the cache was harder than locating the cache. Everything is so wet it is slippery. Initially the Boss was happy for me to make the find by myself, but then she decided that, with my two artificial knees, I was going to have trouble getting back down once I had found it, so she made her way cautiously up and we managed to help each other back to the car without any mishaps.
The cache is in good condition. The logbook and pencil are nice and snug in their red container. TFTC

On my way heading south I pulled over to have a look for this one, I have stopped in the past but only had a look in the pouring rain with no luck, but today with clear sky's I soon had the cache in hand. Yet another great view from a cache thanks for that.
Thanks for the cache.

On our travels we decided to look for this cache. Very slippery when wet.TFTC
Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! Our journey started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island, before heading to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. We are now here in Tasmania on the second leg of our journey. We then head back to Melbourne before setting off to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
A nice quick find at Ground Zero once our GPS had settled. Thanks so much for the cache and for its location at this lovely viewpoint.

We pulled up just on dusk and found there was already a campervan set up for the night. So we parked on the boat ramp and set off upwards and cross country to find the prize. It did t take long to locate the cache, sign the log and off back to Cradle Mountain. This gets a fav because chasing this one as our last cache for the day, Caching had kept us out late which meant we saw so much wildlife in the drive back, including three Tasmanian Devils. TFTC
Love stopping here for a breather to admire the view, and much prefer driving the Anthony Link rather than going through Rosebery. Sections through here remind me a lot of Scandinavia, makes me want to climb mountains
Today it was a bit windy but the views from GZ were fantastic. A lovely area for a cache. Tftc.
I went today to find this cache, and realised that I found this cache tree years ago and forgot to lodge that finding. I am lodging it today. TFTC.
Last cache for the day and not an easy feat in the rain!!!!! I was saturated in the attempt but after what I went through to get to GZ I was not leaving emptyhanded!

DNF but probably better Did Not Look. Did not feel right to climb up the rocks. Nice drive though!
Co-ordinates spot on. Great place, but annoying flies. Love the conglomerate boulders. TFTC.
Pelting rain was not going to stop us from getting what we stopped for. Whilst the top half remained dry and my feet were nice and cosy in my waterproof hikers my legs ended up drenched to the knees. Joys of being height challenged lol. Have travelled this road many many times when I was younger so although there was no view today I can assure on a decent day the scenery is quiet good.
After a short stay at Trial Harbour, couldn't resist a look in at Lake Plimsoll, just in case some Brookies were about (sadly not on the bite today )
Slipped and slid through the mush all the way up to GZ, made the find, then slipped and stumbled back down again - just glad that no-one was watching !
Thanks for the cache, thomater !

Last find for the weekend as we leave the Strahan area and return home. Stopped to look for this one on our last trip to the West Coast but didn't get to search due to the pelting rain so it was good to finally get the chance to grab it. Mr Beetle had it before Mrs Beetle even got up there to help search. Thanks.
No joy for us today, GPS being wayward and aggressive snow to contend with. Will be back one day!

We were heading to Queenstown today to take a trip on the West Coast Wilderness Railway before it closes for winter and maintenance (and hopefully, not for good). It turned out to be a perfect weather day - a cloudless blue sky, no wind and temperatures in the low twenties. The trip on the railway was magnificent and to cap off the day, some caches along the way.
Although it was a little slippery underfoot (not wet but the soles of our shows were not compatible with the reed grasses), we got to GZ with little difficulty. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. the cache and contents were in good condition. GZ was another location to enjoy the superb views of this area. TFTC thomarter.

Needed to have a break on our way to Queenstown and what better way then to do a cache. Great spot and great view from GZ. Thanks Thomarter for your cache.

Umm...so this one was a bit interesting. My GPSr wasn't settling down very well, so after picking my way across a very soggy alpine hill, I had to do a bit of searching before finding the cache. Meanwhile, some muggles were setting up their boat and camper down in the parking lot. My wife talked to them for a bit to distract them while I was searching, but I think they were wondering what on earth I was doing trampling the vegetation when there were perfectly good hiking trails around.
I eventually found the cache, and made my soggy way back down the hill, but it would've been nice if there were a more established path so I didn't feel like I was destroying alpine vegetation...
