Out on the back roads to find some of the caches in the area. A good day, with only a few showers, followed by a rainbow. Hardly any traffic. There was a good downpour just as I pulled up, but it soon stopped and then it was a quick find. TFTC!!
It's December, and to help me achieve one of my Geocaching goals I need to log 300+ caches this month, which means an average of ten a day. As I meander my way home from Wanganui to Wellington, via the outskirts of Feilding and Palmy, I found a bunch of Geocaches, and this was one of them.Cache was found as expected, although I had to dig a little deeper than usual to uncover it.---Thanks to skindo for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge
Will I as out caching and the weather has decided to pack it in. This was a quick park and grab which was a good thing considering the lovely weather. Tftc

Last cache for 2021, it hasn't been a bad year really, for the Geckoh's - we welcomed another grandson into the fold and our oldest granddaughter gained an award for excellence at school, we lost two of our dogs but gained a puppy, we lost a cow but gained a freezer chocker with meat - Happy to wait and see how 2022 pans out, just got to learn to roll with the punches! TFTC

this was a quick find, once all the cyclists had moved on, replaced the logsheet, tftc
Headed out for an evening of caching. Completed the Bowie series so now for some Planets and Cars and anything else that gets in the way. Lovely change to stop at a hall rather then a power pole! Cache all fine although pretty well buried. Thanks Skindo for the smileys.
#8260. I was heading up this way to attend the community celebration event in Whanganui on Saturday. So decided to take a day of annual leave and come up a day early to the Manawatu to pick up geocaches near Sanson and north of Feilding before staying overnight in Palmerston North. Got an early start (for me) from Wellington and was up at the first cache soon after 9 am.
Well I parked right next to GZ and read the cache name and immediately thought skindo. But surely there can't be any more skindo halls out there that remain unarchived. But after pulling out the cache from its hiding spot I knew from the container type it was a skindo cache. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks skindo for hiding it here. Great to sign off another of your caches as I close in on 1000 skindo cache finds in total.

Having just come from a frustrating time at twittering bleedy birds I have my find for today towards my Streak of consecutive daily geocache finds - but oh look - a Country Hall. I do like these. I've attended a few dances, shindigs, receptions and the like in quite a few of these around Taranaki and beyond in my time. Memories!
Dating from 1914, I note that's an unusal date for a Hall's construction. Too late for commemoration of the Boer War, and too early to house the Roll of Remembrance for the Great War as many were later dedicated, this one was obviously built just as the centre for the local community.
Easy find. Thanks for another of your Community Hall caches.

Out and about today to celebrate my birthday. A bit of a weird vibe this year, what with all the issues around Covid-19, but with Level 3 in place we had a bit of latitude so long as the Rules were strictly observed. Stay within our regions, and within 75km. Stay within our bubbles. Practice social distancing. Those last two were easy as I didn't see another person all day.
I picked out a few caches to do today that I knew would be reasonably remote, and not likely to have been handled in a while. Most of what I found today hadn't been found in at least 6 weeks, and some of them not since last year. And I had my trusty bottle of hand sanitizer with me.
This was a straightforward find and there were no issues with the cache or the log, which was signed before returning everything back as I found it and moving onto the next.
Thank you for placing this cache.

Have not been doing many caches over the last few weeks and it looked like we might not get the current souvenir as we had missed all the recent events, including the one today. Needed to be over in Feilding to drop the Jr. Cachers off at swimming and decided that there might just be enough time to grab a few caches on the country roads to the north.
The cache wasn't quite where expected so walked back to GZ from the hall and waited until some cyclists had passed on by before making the find in the expected location. TFTC skindo.

On a road trip with Team BOP to Feilding. Set off Friday night and back home Sunday. Lots of caches and lots of laughs with great weather and great scenery. Thanks to all the COs for giving us a awesome trip
Signed Teambop. Came down to Fielding for the weekend with Philip.Perry, Tnxpro, Nzflossy, McJandals, Squirrel Nutcase and FapandGap . Staying at a farmhouse down the road from here.

Road trip time! This weekend Team BOP consisted of Davidson Clan, TNXPro, Squirrelnutcase, FapAndGap, McJandals, NZFlossy & myself. We'd had this trip on the cards for a while but only recently had we locked in all the details. We were off to central Manawatu and we had a very narrow list of ‘must gets’ so this trip was essentially a numbers mission. We had a great time and managed just over 200 finds. Most of the caches were found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and straight forward placements although we replaced a lot of logs and a few containers as well. A huge thank you to the CO’s as this was a beautiful area to visit and there was certainly an abundance of geocaches!!
Team BOP decided that with the MEGA rapidly approaching, we need to boost our numbers so we could try for a milestone number at the Mega. I am approaching my 3000th cache but was still about 325 caches away from that. Reaching the milestone may or may not happen, but this weekend certainly was about the numbers. I had an initial target I was trying to beat and that was my highest number of caches found in one day and we comfortably beat that, achieving 158 caches (subject to confirmation, once I log them all).
The best way to do the high numbers is with power trails and out here, there is a smorgasborg of powertrails.
We loaded up the van, gathered up all seven of us and headed to our accomodation somewhere in the middle of nowhere, getting there well after dark. The location was convenient, as it was right in the thick of a power trail territory.
There was no splitting us up, as we only had one vehicle, so we all experienced the cache locations, some beautiful and some not so.
As with powertails we have done in the past, there was a high proportion of waterlogged caches, but unlike powertails we have done previously, we managed to find every cache and were glad to be able to clear out an area. Also, with powertails, comes cut and paste logs, to which I apologise for.
Thanks to all those CO's who have placed the caches out there. Without you, our fun road trips wouldnt exist. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend and got home completely shattered. It was so worth it.

Team BOP on tour in the Manawatu-Whanganui Region... With Gap (of Fap and Gap), (Mr) Davidson clan, McJandals, NZFlossy, Philip.Perry, and TNXPro.
This weekend had been in the pipeline for ages. It was always going to be a mission for various team members to get coordinated leave passes... We secured accommodation in the rural heart of the Manawatu. This placed us well within reach of a massive trail of caches... We travelled in one vehicle, so our journey was filled with lots of laughs, and good times... Fortunately, the majority of caches were in place and were fairly quick to locate - thanks to straightforward hints and great coordinates. Many of the caches had not been found in a while, so containers were waterlogged, and logbooks were wet... Thank goodness for waterproof paper. A huge thank you also, to the various COs who made our weekend worthwhile... TFTC.

On our way back to Auckland from Feilding, but we have a few caches to find first.
A quick find at Skindo Hall... oops we mean Stanway Hall. TFTC.

I had some spare time while in town visiting some of the rellies, so I thought Id do a few of the easy drivebys in the area. I had a great day and grabbed a heap of caches. Lots of damp and wet caches, but not surprising given the weather. I did find some that had been replaced, but found the original nearby. Signed one or the other depending on which I found first. Thanks to all the CO's for a great day and apologies for the generic log.
Left the phone in the car so I went to the wrong brace but once that was discovered I quickly found the cache at the right spot. TFTC
On a weekend mission with Cats&Dragons, for a bit of a numbers run along the new trails around the Northern Manawatu area, and anything else along the way. As usual these types of trips mean maximizing caching time and minimizing sleep time. So with a 2am start time Saturday morning we left home and headed South, and not getting back home til 8.30pm Sunday night. Some numbers for the trip as I know we all like caching stats are:
* 1450km traveled.
* 286 caches found (192 on Saturday, 94 on Sunday) with only 3 DNF's
* 4 hours sleep
* With a 3 hour each way drive to the Caching area, so about 32 hours of caching in the 42 hours we were away at an average of nearly 9 caches per hour, this isn't including stopping for fuel and coffee!!!
So a huge thanks to all the CO's for the placements, and for the reason to see some more of our wonderful country, we saw some pretty amazing places. Sorry for the copy and paste logs. We signed the log books HKCD, or HKCBC&D.
Took a bit of a search to locate, cache is still there though a bit more wedged in with the new seal that has happened.

I'm a bit dubious about this one. It looks like new stone chip was spread all along here and I suspect cache is now underneath. Will keep an eye on this one
Took the wrong turning after the Mega so taking the long way home. Finding new caches in area not been for a long time TFTC
I have visited so many country halls up and down the country to find a cache - they are all special in their own way and either were in the past or still a vital part of the community. TFTC #9519
Another little country hall. It would be interesting to know how many there are up and down the country. TFTC .
Sanson to Fielding
How do you take 4 hours to get to a place that a local has told us should only take about 10minutes.
Thats easy, when your out searching for flashy motor cars, along farming country roads while completing not a power trail, but as I would have called it a TributeTrail to David Bowie.
This was great way to see the area.
Thanks for placing this cache skindo

Last full day in NZ so obviously I went and did geocaching in the morning! 9th of the day and another comunity hall find. Be interesting to count how many I have found of these. TFTC.
I had parked the caravan up in Marton and travelled over to North Fielding to pick up as many caches as I could.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Had a lovely drive over the hilltops in sunshine on a brilliant winter's day... was about to go for the cache when a muggle stopped to ask if I was lost! Luckily she seemed happy with my explanation and drove away so I could go ahead to retrieve and sign the log. TBs visited to enjoy the views.
Thanks for the cache

A great summers' day driving in the country...stopped off to pick this one up...TFTC!
Quick find do at the end of a Halcombe run.
Sheep seemed very interested in what we were doing, nice change from the traditional scardey variety.

Found during a pleasant Sunday drive on a cool, but sunny and calm afternoon. Thanks skindo, another of your country halls ticked off.
A quick find on an afterboon's caching in the area after the morning event cache near Sanson. Signed log, TFTC
Now. Left or right. Ill head left for a nosey then come back for rest of the power trail. Tftc
Out and about the Manawatu for a day's caching. A great day for it and a most enjoyable tiki tour around the back blocks.

I was off the mark tonight and missed this so out the car hubby got to have it instantly. Dah! Must be because it was getting late and we had not had dinner ... any excuse lol!
Got there to find an FH guy having lunch in his truck, so I went off and found another one. Went I got back he'd moved on so was able to secure the smiley. TFTC
Headed over to Halcombe for a Sunday drive and pick up some caches. Finished up the top of the Gravel Run so over for this and St Michaels. A quick find near this nicely maintained rural hall. TFTH and the placement.
Noticed my un-found caches in the area had finally reached 'criitcal mass' with the new Gravel Run series so it was time for a road trip. Great weather, and a quick find here.

As I had to get to palmy for work and with the impending weather decided to leave mid afternoon rather than at 4am Monday I thought to grab a few caches on the way to the motel. This was the eleventh of quite a number that I managed to collect in the dark, following Manawatu Back Roads.
Thanks for the placement

A caching day alone while Mrs Firewoof is at work. Could have been closer to the Hall Mr Skindo. TFTC
Driving home after a family weekend in good ole palmy with insanitynz and thought we would do a bit of caching on our way home. witht he kiddies asleep and a few hours to kill we thought wed knock a couple of caches off our list this was a quick find and grab in such a pituresque location. TFTC
Just what we need after looking for a nano in a haystack nearby......A nice skindo hide along a country road we haven't been on before. Just squeezing in a couple of cache finds on a quick trip but we'll be back again soon. TFTC.
Easy find. Old hall.

At surprise party at this hall tonight, quick find with torch behind parked cars. TFTC.
TFTC. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you a classic of it's type - almost the industry standard of a Skindo cache....we have a classic example of the cache description, the feature building and the location and container are perfect examples of a 'Skindo rural cache'. Log this one, and many others will (I hope) follow...

Had to travel to Halcombe today so done a small diversion to log a couple of caches. Easy find. Signed log then replaced. TFTC
Easy find. TFTC. Finding new places out in the 'wilderness' off the main highways.
Having earlier found the hall that skindo apparently missed, it seemed only right to follow up with one that was not missed.
