If anyone wants to find it please do so quickly.
The area where it is hidden is getting a bit ratty due to wind damaging the bush, wouldn't want anyone to think it was geocachers that caused the damage!

Third time lucky for this one, finally picked a day when there was no footy. Found with kizalee. TFTC.
Found when the only occupants of the velodrome were kids at the distant playground, too far to see what I was up to.
A caching expedition in Ballarat. Number 2 a bit of a wander but soon found signed and returned. TFTC

Found by Mary & David at 1550. A case of deja vu for us here, as we remember the previous cache. Had to wait a couple of minutes for some school kids to move away, then it was a quick find. Our thanks to McAdies.
Couldn't find it

Really enjoyed this cache.
Good location and nice hide - I assumed where it would be on arrival but was wrong.
I had just signed log when the cache owner, who was walking in the area came over and asked if I found it. It was very nice to meet you and I don't often see other geocachers.
Certainly worth a favourite point then off to the next cache
SL Thanks McAdies.

Challenging as it is hard to see, didn't open it as there were too many Muggles!

A quick find on the way home from dinner. I haven't been to the velodrome since playing there as a kid and I don't think I've ever read the plaques so thanks for giving me reason to go back!

I knew that Ballarat had a velodrome but didn't know where it was until today. TFTC
Found with misschief18, TilleyTB and a muggle friend Tabitha...maybe soon to be geocacher!
After finding the previous cache in pieces, it was nice to come back here with others to find this new one. TFTC McAdies

Didn't expect to find this type of venue here, shame about the previous versions being muggled but enjoyed the cache nevertheless.
Thanks McAdies, for another great cache!

Light reflected off it as I approached it on a night cache with LumpyJMB, could see this would be hard to see during the day. TFTC!
This was one of over 110 caches I found during a huge day and night of caching with my fellow cachers Trailrunning, Rebel Acts and Blacklegend (The Demolition Crew). As we all had the day free we carefully planned in advance the run and decided to call it Ballarat Smackdown II. The plan was ambitious and resulted in almost 22 hours of continual caching.
The day started in the early hours of the morning in the far eastern suburbs of Melbourne, then moving through the northern suburbs then onto and along the Western Freeway to Enfield State Forest then north up to Ballarat itself. We cached through Melton, Pykes Reservoir and Bacchus Marsh and many of the country roads north and south of the Western Freeway as we made our way west.
We had a fantastic day finding all the different types of caches and there were some quite inventive, very tricky and well constructed hides that we found. I thank all the cache owners for the time and effort they have spent in placing all the caches we found today.

Another legendary cache run by The Demolition Crew (myself, TrailRunning, Quasar3671 and Rebel Acts). We have dubbed it Ballarat Smackdown II. This was a huge run taking us all the way from near Cardinia, via the northern suburbs of Melbourne, to Bacchus Marsh and Melton and finally Ballarat. A massive loop, and over 100 caches for the run. The company was as always fantastic, a lot of laughs, good dinner, and great caches. Many thanks to all the CO's for the hides, without them we wouldn't have been able to find anything.
Nice quick find as Rebel spotted this one walking into it. TFTC.

This was, cache # 61 of 117 finds for the day in the company of The Demolition Crew. Spotted this one walking to it. My thanks to McAdies for the cache.
This cache was found by me today in the company of The Demolition Crew.
While I strive to make my logs personal to every cache, I have far too many logs to do, that I apologise in this instance for using a generic log. I thank you for the placement of this cache as it was one of many that made up a great day for me and the crew..
The Day's Blurb...
The annual holidays is always a great time to relax and take it easy, but not today. The Demolition Crew had decided that after such a long break from caching together that we would start the year off with a bang! So the planning minds were put into operation, and Ballarat Smackdown II was conceived.
The smackdown started along way from Ballarat, in fact in the hills around Cardinia Reservoir and from there is was a push across the northern suburbs of Melbourne through Melton & Bacchus Marsh. It being such a hot day, the waters of Pykes Creek Reservoir cooled and refreshed us, and we were soon off to start on the Ballarat caches.
Since our first Smackdown in the area, many new caches have popped up, so it was a fruitful run which ended well into the early morning. A couple of caches were replaced as a way of saying thanks to those who took the time to place them, and I think in the end my tally was well over 100 for the run.
It was a completely awesome day, and I thank you for placing the cache. We will return to the Ballarat area soon as there are still a number of caches we left undiscovered.

Great clues, this was my niece's first find. Never know a velodrome was here. RIP smitty
A cricket match on the nearby oval meant everyone was watching that and not looking my way.
An interesting area and nice to read the history of some of the locals.
Found as part of my 2 day caching run around and through the area. Thanks for showing me the area....and for the cache.

Heading back to the motel for a snooze prior to going to nightshift tonight. Dropped in to make a couple of finds which were both completed quickly. Thanks McAdies for the cache.
Surprised this one hasn't been spotted, it's quite visible at the moment. But I like the idea. Thanks
Suscoe and Sister were out for a day's caching in Ballarat.
It was a delightful day, a little bit cloudy and a gentle breeze.
This was find number nine for us today.
Read the plaques and then had a klook and found the container nice and quickly.
Could see the next GZ and there were people there.
Not sure how we would go, didn't really have to worry in the end.
Thanks to the McAdies for this cache, nice to catch up with local stories.

A quick find while out caching with dad. Awesome velodrome, will have to come back and try it out. TFTC.
I've done the previous cache from the middle of the velodrome, had to use the hint to figure this one out.
With the start of spring and the weather improving the ageing Bushfire who has the worst cold for years decided to go back to Ballarat and put a few more smilies in his quest of finding all caches within 30km of central Ballarat
.
Starting at Lal Lal then a wander up Mt Buninyong and then onto Ballarat to tackle the blackberries, gorse and ivy and some unfriendly terrain.
I had a good day finding thirteen caches placed by nine different hiders hidden by different methods.
Not being a local and thinking that I knew better than the GPS I parked at the crossing of the Yarrowee River and wandered along the trail and soon the compass was telling me that I should be up that steep bank.
OK that's where I went and a wander across the sporting grounds to a location that I have been before.
Thank goodness the cache was soon in hand and it was off to the other side of this reserve to one my less favorite type cache hides and that is a play ground but there were muggles every where so back to the White Beast and continue on my way.
Thanks again McAdies for placing this cache. Gee I could have made this a drive by.

Took me a little while to work out how to get in, as the drive through gates were all locked up. Once in, it was rather wet underfoot. Spent a little whil hunting in the likely spots before ctacking the hint. Then the cache was soon in hand.
Thanks for bringing me here.
Thanks for bringing me here.
It was pouring with rain today, but that didnt dampen the mood, we had lots of fun in the mud
Found with stooy on another cold, wet and windy caching day around Ballarat tftc
The ovals around here were teeming with sporting muggles on this sunny Sunday. Fortunately the velodrome was empty and once the plaque found the cache was soon obvious. Took it back to the car to log and moved on
Thanks
Thanks
We were lucky with this one as the nearby playgound cache was inaccessible today. Parked nearby and feathertop grabbed it

A quick find while geokids enjoyed kicking the soccer ball nearby. Thanks for the hide.
Looked for a little while thinking where is it, stopped to scratch our heads and Bam there it was.

Found with bogonghazy on a cold, wet and windy Ballarat day. This run was totally unplanned, but a welcome relief away from my desk and work for a short break. It was raining when we arrived here, and I used the GeoPrado to drive right up to the cache to shelter us from anyone who may be looking, but they were all down at the oval, intent on the game in progress. Thanks for highlighting this McAdies, and for the cache.
Quick find with Sully1 while 2 games of footy and one game of netball were being played.
Gee I miss playing footy on the cold Wintry days.......Not!!!
We needed the clue here, and it was Sully who found this one, looking after the geriatric with the crook back today.
Thanks McAdies for this one.

A nice quick find which is good as it was getting dark quickly. GeoIndyDog enjoyed a walk around here for change. Her predecesor Flint loved walking off lead along the creek near here. Couldn't do that with Indy- wouldn't see her for a month & there would be a big Pound bill involved! TFTH!
A quick find as it was getting dark.
How high up those banked curves do the riders get??
Wouldn't want to fall off either..
Thanks McAdies

Found on attempt number two - too many people around for footy training last night. Found and thankful I didn't have to hunt long. TFTC McAdies.
