No, the works are still continuing and they are being carried out right over my back fence so it's pretty easy to keep an eye on. As mentioned previously, I will re-instate the cache as soon as the works are completed. Earthquake works take a considerable amount of time and I have no access to the cache at all until they are completed.
Hi Status Quo,
The post-earthquake drilling works are still going on in this area and it is totally shut off to the public so even if I archive the cache, no-one else can start a new one in that location anyway.
I would like to keep this cache going once the drilling work are done, if possible.
Thanks and regards,
kammoth

Drilling works still continue in the area surrounding this cache and the whole site is fenced off. This is all part of post-earthquake recovery action in Christchurch. Works are planned to continue for another few months yet. I will definitely make the cache active again as soon as the site is accessible; I live very close to the site, so I can easily observe progress.
This cache will be re-enabled when drilling works are completed at the surrounding water wells. The area is fenced off and gated in the meantime. Thanks and cheers!
Both entrances had gates across them so couldn't get into the site. Might pay to check it out? Cheers
I'm sorry; it appears that there are now works in the area re-drilling two of the water wells and drilling a new one. I may have to archive the cache until the works are complete. Thanks to all who have found it thus far!
Just felt like I shouldnt have been here with the fences now in place, Found the cache after a bit of a hunt around. I do remember this pool I used to do some Kayak training in there years ago..TFTC. Cheers Bo
Loved the maze - walked both ways the whole length! Lovely park in the sun, not quite so savoury round the cache site, but that's life. TFTC.
Our first cache of the morning making our way to the 2 events in Kaipoi. We found this with furpurse. Thanks for the cache
Beginning to work out the first places to look when I arrive at GZ's now. This cache ended up being in a similar location as a number of other caches I've found. Thanks to a hint from sonia26642 I managed to locate this cache very quickly. Looks to be an area that may be frequented by people of a certain profession at night judging by the items that were in the area! Thanks for the cache.
Nice quiet spot. The kids enjoyed racing around the stone tracks. Our first successful find. Thanks
Was in the basic right area, but I couldn't have an indepth look as there were a couple of neighbours who were in the garden. Decided to retreat until it was quieter.
I'm a frequent visitor of Jellie or Condon pools as I enjoy covered all weather pools followed by hot pool or steam room. Maybe I'm just not built that tough for the cold outdoor pools. Was quiet here today so made the search easier.

I had been at this place looking for the cache once before, but there was a lady in the gardens, and I also now know that the coords were WAY off that day.
Went and hung out for one last evening with my friend before she flies back to Auckland. So we were at smash palace, and after that got into the car to drive home. And just as we drove off, I went oh no!! Cache for the day!! Keeping up the consec count!! It would be day # 112 if I found a cache!! So of course we detoured as soon as I found out I didn't have one for the day yet!! Decided for a quick attack here now that noone was likely to be present.
An easyish find once we were in the right spot and followed the hint well. Wow it was pretty freaky hanging out around the building there in the middle of the night! But finding the right spot was pretty tricky actually. Had a few false starts, but then spotted where it had to be a few metres over from where we were - and we were sure right!
TFTC!!

A successful hunt with Zekeasaurus Bunnz although phone had us searching in totally the wrong place to start. TFTC
Our first stop on a walk with 3/4 of esinmcw. Zekeasaurus and his mate had fun running around the labyrinth while us mums had a bit of a search. Thought we were stumped and were about to give up when esinmcw mum found the pozzie TFTC.
Lots of memories at this place. As a teenager I used to race competitively. The water was always cold here. An easy enough find while wandering around trying to visualise what had been here. TFTC
Based on other peoples comments, I searched outside the GPS co-ordinates. I was about to give up when I finally found it. Strangely though, after I found the cache, I looked at my GPS and it told me I was nearby! I wish it wound make up its mind!!! TFTC. I remember swimming here years ago when I first moved to Christchurch.
Found this one after a little search, but had no pen or pencil with me! Tried to scrawl name with dirt but was unsuccessful. I have a photo as proof of my find however. TFTC
Wow! GPS really gave us grief on this one!! Was giving up & then decided to do a perimeter search on departure & immediately located a likely spot & the cache was In hand!

I used to bike here for a swim when I was a kid. It would take about 40 minutes each way. I was tough in those days! TFTC
Whew, this one took me ages. In the end I bent down to check a tree root (which provided nothing), and that luckily put me at the right eye-level. Nice hide!
Tftc. Stumped for a while, then looked further into the matter and there you go! Great mural gardens and maze
A quick find and an enjoyable roam around the place..it is great to see the locals getting some use out of the place TFTC
Co-ords we a little off for us, but after a couple of circuits of the building we started the search and soon discovered the hiding spot

11pm at night the drunk (straight from the work party) leading the sleep deprived (3hrs sleep in the last 24 due night shift & too hot to sleep) & the out past (Godmothers) curfew stumbled into where the pool had been. The GZ was quickly located and the cache shortly after (by the sleep deprived) - yah the dot day had been done and the 105 day streak rescued! TFTC
A quick stop for one cache on my way home. No kids in tow today so had to look like a loiterer. Cool hidey spot. Many thanks
I wanted to find a cache today 12/12/12. I had to hang around a bit, then go for a walk as there were muggles having a picnic in the community garden. I was about to give up when the muggles left and I had the place to myself to have a good search. Unfortunately the search took a lot longer than I was anticipating, as my phone was convinced that the cache should be located in a completely different area. After widening the search area I quickly found the cache and realized that I had walked right past it when I arrived. I had a wee chuckle to myself, as I could have found the cache without the picnickers even seeing me.
Would have loved a dip today, but alas the pool in no more. I went towards GZ the wrong way and then read the description and found the proper entrance. Cache was cornered quickly. I used to live down the corner and my sister and I would spend most of the Summer at these pools. Oh the memories, doing bombs off the spring board. Learning to do widths under water. The bum burn on the hot concrete. The lemonade popsicles!!! Thanks for the jaunt down memory lane.

A bit of a sad area but it is good to see people having a go at using the area for good. Thanks kammoth
In Christchurch for the Launch of Joy of the Mountains A climbers life - John Harrison who died in 1966 in an avalanche. he climbed with many of the famous climbers of the era. Being my uncle is also the reason my son is named John
Randomly roaming (my usual caching modus operandi) and this cache was on my way to wherever I was going ... I've driven past here countless times but never ventured in or swum.
I do hope the pool is replaced. TFTC and for bringing me here.

Nice evening walk from my accommodation. Getting a bit cold this evening.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
My wife and I decided to take a walk after dinner tonight and look for our 1st geocache in Christchurch. No muggles around this area which made for a quick find. TNLNSL at 7:15 pm.
Quick find tonight before our early morning flight back to OZ. Thanks for the hunt kammoth
My partner and I went back again today and spent a bit of time actually clearing the area of rubbish, glass and other unmentionables. Now the site is back to as it was when I listed the cache and fine for kids/pets etc. Cheers.
I went round and round and was always 10m away... so went round again, read the logs and the hint and got it.
I had planned on getting the Earthcache in Riccarton, but failed at the research stage. Noticed this one was close, and a previous DNF (or note) when I could find a way in in the dark. Muggly daughter navigated on the way home from the library, found the way in in the light of day. Nice that the rain had stopped and the sun was out.
Loved the heart shaped garden.
Thanks

Found this but forgot to log it, found 9 GC's this day which is pretty good for me. Used to bike passed this pool, never went swimming here, If a new pool is built I'll give it a go.
This Pool used to be W T's stamping ground, with many hours spent in here Swiming,in his Youth.Do hope that it will flourish when all the new work is compleated.Found it quickly.TFTH
Oh dear, I'm sorry that the area around the cache has become a bit filthy; I'll take a broom over there in the next couple of days to clean things up a bit. The area wasn't like that when I planted the cache or when I last checked it. I also thought that some people might be keeping the area relatively maintained since they're still working on the labyrinth, community garden and new pool. My apologies.
Thanks kammoth for doing a sweep up It is pretty discusting Hope the community get motivated and have a complete cleanup It would be a lovely area
Looks like it could be a nice community garden some day. Sadly the place was full of used condoms and broken glass! Be careful with kids. #306
2nd anniversary of quake and a meeting to go to but mother nature decided that she would give us an anniversary sky show. Found this one as the lightning was bouncing around overhead ligting up the sky for ages - who needs a torch tonight! Just as I got inside at the meeting in Casebrook the heavens opened up with marble sized up, hail stones. Just as well I managed to find this one before that happened as it would be more than a dip more like a flood. Nice to see the area being used by the community to try and tidy it up in a small way.
I've never been here before. I always meant to check it out when it was operating. Would be great to be able to take a dip here in the future. Easy night cache. TFTC
TFTC. This is an area my relations grew up in and definitely swam in the pool and also joined the lifesaving club that used to occupy this site. Thanks for bringing me back here for a cache and a trip down memory lane.
A quick find, in a place I have never been to. A nice bit of brick path work where the pool used to be. Thanks.
Sneaky little spot. Looking at some of the garbage on the ground gives me a sense of what goes on in this tucked away spot. Yuck. Quickly found the cache and headed out.
4672. Despite the cold and grey day we took a dip and enjoyed success. GPS was jumping around a bit but was close enough for a quick find. Thanks for the cache, Rodney and Iris.
Out and about in the cold dark evening - a few caches before all that olympic rowing. Still some time so headed out to this cache. On pulling up in the car at ~GZ & seeing where I had to go (and all that graffiti) I had a small internal debate as to whether it was wise to head in to the park; at night, solo....curiosity won out although I was a bit on edge. An interesting spot - looks to have been developed somewhat by diligent neighbours? a bit of gardening? hard to tell. Wasn't using my torch. Cache quick to hand. Nice wee spot. Thanks.

Not the best of weather to be out caching, but needed a find to fill in a dot day. A quick find. TFTC.

Quick easy find whilst taking geoyoungling for a walk. Would have been a great asset to the community. Unfortunately was closed just as we moved into the neighbourhood . Thanks for the Cache.
Displaced from home while repairs underway so exploring a new part of town on a cooler evening stroll.
Easy find once gps settled down. TFTC

An interesting area to visit. We initially looked in the correct place, but saw nothing. After searching elsewhere without success, we rechecked the first place, and detected that the cache was there, although completely out of sight and out of reach. Fortunately we had a suitable implement in the car, and with some difficulty eventually managed to retrieve the cache. We replaced it in a more accessible position. TFTC
Believe the GPS and life is easier - Messed about for a few mins before LG spotted LGM
Found by our grand daughter. I remember taking the children there for swimming sports. Oh dear;--however someone has taken time to make an attractive activity. Well done and Thanks.
263 - FTF. I can remember the outcry when they closed this pool. I hadn't visited the site before so it was interesting to see where it had been and see what was left onsite. Something is still whirring away inside one of the buildings. I decided even if the pool had been there, today was not warm enough to "take a dip". TFTC
We were just half an hour too late to claim the FTF. Thanks for this new cache in a place that I spent time at during my teenage years - it looked a bit different then!

2TF! Missed the FTF by 4 mins!! I heard rustling as I arrived so I hid around the corner, I peeped around and no one was there. Found the cache and justmeg had put a time on her log - 11.13am and I was there at 11.17am! that was her rustling! Not fair! lol Oh well next time TFTC (772)
Joint 3TF with ayeffay. If we had been a little quicker off the mark this morning we may have gotten to first. Ah well.
I learned to swim at this pool. ah memories.

Our hats go off to those cachers who go out in the middle of a cold night. What do the neighbours think of the torchs wandering around in the dark? Took a bit of finding even in the middle of the day. TFTC
Yep - the torch beams were pretty visible, but more surprisingly the neighbours sounded like they were outside having their own quiet party - or maybe just a smoke - judging by the giggling that we could hear.
We were even more conspicuous when I had to squeeze my 'dynamo' torch a few times to get a bit more charge into it - but that still did not attract any unwanted attention.
Wishing I had gone back this morning before work now ...

I used to swim here as a teenager, had forgotten all about these pools, took a bit of a hunt bug in the end my son found it, tftc

Such is the risk of the late night FTF race and it is not the first time that the cache was not where it was supposed to be. I am glad that the cache actually wasnt there rather than than all of us looking everywhere and expanding the search area just missed it! Knowing what we were looking for (film canister) helped us to end our search sooner than if we had no idea of what the container was. I am very surprised that all of the torches (and especially the dynamo!) didnt make the neighbors wonder, but I guess they were preoccupied.
Cycled onto the site and as I approached GZ I noticed 3 people (2 of them, heads down looking at objects in their hands). Quickly surmised that they just had to be cachers - why else would people be on this desolate deconstruction site? Introduced myself and met again justanurse and theroamingreliever and their friend.
When I arrived at the listed coordinates I saw torch beams. Damn - someone already here (the usual geocachers), and only 20 mins after the notification.
And the good news - they had not found the GC. So I joined the search.
Now the bad news - none of us found it despite thorough torch-light searching.
A disappointing way to end a zero degree fossick. I will be back!

To those who braved the cold last night, my apologies, egg is on my face.
The listing only got approved just before 11pm and I see you were both out looking for the cache rather late. I live very nearby and had retrieved the cache, since it hadn't been approved yet, to put the geocaching.com note in it and put it back in position this morning!
It's in position again now and will remain so; really sorry you people were out in the cold and dark!!!
