TFTC so great to find a cache big enough for swaps. Left a car charger. On the way home after looking at the Tulips
Today is the day for me to find Stegans Wyndham caches: I have completed most of his Dunedin ones. Hopefully I can find them all, fingers crossed. Its a tad warmer here than in Gore this morning thankfully but still rather chilly.
Caching by phone and we now had reception so wanted a cache as memory of the drive back. This reminded us of a series in Canterbury so we made a short detour to look for it. Quick find but slow retrieve because Mrs S has shorter arms than would have been ideal Thanks.
The locals certainly travel fast along this road. Hiw wonderful to find a classic stegan cache.
Cache 1375 Todays mission to work on the Solstice souvenir so it was a road trip around Southland to try and track down enough caches before the 24th of June. After a few DNFs further down the road I was hopeful for an easy find and I was rewarded with one here even though there was a bit of a duck and a crawl, cache is in good shape and nice and dry T4TC
A nice day to practice my driving skills to get this cache.
Quick find at gz.

Day one caching and seeing the sights of Otago and a bit of Southland with raylnz (big Sis from CH-Ch.) Brilliant day on the coast. Good to be out and about before our next self-imposed home detention. tftc
A couple of days with big Sis (Raylnz) out in the country before having to hibernate again. TFTC

I'm heading sou'east from Gore in my cachemobile trying to locate and sign off caches in that direction.
I came in from the back to get to the cache.
Cheers for the cache.

I don't think I would take any of those examples too eat....found and signed many thanks
Lots of rotting produce under here and had to crunch or squish through them. Thanks for bringing us here
Two days ago I was trying to remember what my Aunty calls roadside fruit picking SRUMPING how funny that we then come across this catch. TFTC!
Not scrumping when there is no fruit. Scrumped a couple of empty beer bottle trash.
Nearly too busy making baby knitted ugg boots to get out of the car for this one but this autumn light at nearly 5pm is awesome. Great cache too. Thanks
A quick and easy find. Cheers
Easter holidays, and a road trip to Milford Sound. Today we drove around Southland: Winton, Gore and Invercargill, with lovely weather for the day, and lovely Southland countryside.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. In some cases we are revisiting placed that we have been before but liked so much we are going there again.
I did not know what scrumping was and as a kid I used to live on an apple orchard so no point in stealing them, however the neighbours big black juicy delicious grapes, that is a whole different scenario. Got caught a few too many times so gave it away in the end. But in reality they could not have possibly eaten all of them so I was doing them a favour.
Anyway a nice quick find here.
Thanks for the cache and thank you for the smiley

On the road before 8 this morning to see how close I can get to my goal of 2000 by the end of the year.
Fruit has a few months to go before they can be a crumpled, but looks like it'll be a good crop.
Traffic fairly steady, but managed to get to GZ between vehicles.
Quick find.
Thanks for the smilie.

With the Wyndham trads done and dusted, we spotted this one, and went for it. A quick find.
Not much traffic but few bypassers, probably wondering what's going on there. TFTC.
The answer to which side of the tree is the cache on should always be "not the side Ardom chooses"... But eventually I found it. TFTC!
Was meant to be an easy cache to find and ended up almost skewered on a branch. Found the big box and SL. Returned to the hide under some of the cover that had slipped away. The apples are ready to pick, a golden delicious I think or some heritage variety. They will be cooked anyway. TFTC
Approached from the wrong side and couldn't see it. Tried the other side and wondered how I'd missed it. TFTC
My mission is my first 3 day tramp on Stewart Island. The Seagnoid has Xmas off so we are off on an epic adventure with Zara around the South Island. The Seagnoid is navigator and scribe, Zara and I have teamed up and Im cache logger. Its The Catlins to Bluff today, so lets get going!
Another quick snag and tag on our way past. No apples today. Boo Hoo. Cheers

TaybeeDragon and I are off for a three day walk on Stewart Island. But we have a camper, so once you add in getting there and back, it's a three week trip. Day 9: Catlins to Bluff.
Ahh... nicking fruit from the roadside! One of my favourite hobbies! And to further the subject - cider is my favourite alcohol.

Magnificent blossoms but only the promise of small fruit? We fished near here, successfully, a season way back. Cito'd some tins and bottles waiting for buses to pass. Was a little damp inside so refreshed swaps and rebagged log. Placed back in hide with stones re-applied. TFTC
Heading back to Dunedin after a weekend in Bluff. Decided to take a detour and mark off a few more off the main highway. No scrumping occurred here but K did get a branch to the head while looking in the dark and having to turn off torch and wait for a car to go past before signing the log. TFTC
A revisit to this luvly tree. Picked some small apples after trying one. Will bring them home for pop. The log wasn't as damp as before but changed the bag and folded a tissue betwix the pages to draw some moisture out. Cache returned to hide with a bit more cover.
This cache reminded me a lot of Hello Mrs' apple series in Canterbury. This is a good specimen.TFTC #7570
Probably the last one for our day out. Considering the atrocious winter weather, we didn't do too badly. Sad to find this one open and exposed as well as damp. Cleaned, dried and hidden. Beautiful old tree.
Out on a caching date with HM for a day. The weather did not look that good, but it worked out to be perfect for caching since all the 'normal' people stayed inside, leaving us to our enjoyment.

Driving from Invercargill to Gore, the cluster of caches in Wyndham called to me.
Amazingly productive tree; log had recently been signed by a muggle who had been scrumping! TFTC, stegan.

A bit too early, have to wait for autumn - but we love these caches close to good trees like this. TFTC
On a caching trip today with some fellow cachers. Called into cache on a round circuit from wyndham, mataura and hedgehope. tftc
Sadly, our last day in Southland, but what a day it was. Bright sunny clear skies and sun, sun and more sun.
Making a few finds in and around before we have to hit the big tin budgie for the screaming ride back to the capital.
Taking the back roads.
This was a straightforward find, cache in order, and log signed; then safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

The apple tree is just starting to turn green with new leaves. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
I'd not heard the term scrumping before so thanks for teaching us a new word. Found with debsnz
First find for PC Sniff and I on a lovely clear day. Leaving Wyndham to cycle to Balclutha with a bit of caching on the way. Thanks for placing the cache. We're planning on coming back to get a few more around Wyndham!
Was hoping to cache out Wyndham but after arriving quite late yesterday was a bit weary, so a fresh start today grabbed this one on our 95km cycle to Balclutha, TFTC
