Found the spot but think the cache had a run in with a mower...

Ow my...what a beautiful view up there! Especially the autum look the trees had after those terrible bushfires. We looked around for a long time...we even jumped over the fence...but no luck. Then i cheated a bit looking at one of the images of how the cache should look like. We discovered that the cache most likely got run over by a lawn mower and found several pieces close to the place it should be Sad weve tried to find the mint tin....but sadly we didnt. We so wanted to leave something behind in this cache because we saw how much effort has been put into it. So yeah...we didnt leave a token...did take a token...a piece of the shredded cache Smile last but not least...we feel sorry for the beautiful (we think it was a blue tongue lizzard) that was run over by a car Sad hope this cache will get replaced soon...cant wait to come back Smile

I'll replace this one as soon as I can.

This is one of the caches we were able to find on what turned out to be a somewhat frustrating Saturday morning quest to wrap up a few caches before Christmas. What a canny little hide! Bonny views to boot!

TNLN .. . . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt Dog-gone.

found on the way home from a great weekend event, heroes or villains by pprass.
we continued our long weekend into tuesday and took the slow caching road home.
Hmmm, not sure about the sharp edges of the cache being "child friendly", interesting idea though.
Take care when opening .took nothing, left nothing.
thanks for the cache- highrod (from Ballarat)

Looked at the cache and ignored it for a bit, before running out of options and looking more closely. Great camo, and what's more magnificent views from GZ. Put together definitely worth a fave point.

Sad Looked along the fence. Turned over the rubbish. Read over other geocachers' logs. Startled by yapping dogs. Attracted some suspicious stares from dogs' owner. Didn't find it, but will go back again!

Yet another great Dog-gone cache. Discounted this one when I saw it but eventually it was all it could be. Thank you.

Found it on second attempt, ha ha, very sneaky hide. Nice view of Macedon ranges today. Smile

I'd decided to head north this morning to grab the handful of caches along this route. I've never driven this part of Old Sydney Road before, and it certainly made me appreciate how easy the freeway makes travel these days.

The view from up here is brilliant - but could you imagine dragging your horse and cart up here, nevermind your truck?

The camo is very good - the first time I've seen it used to this effect Smile

#1450 Great view from here and an innovative hide. Interesting story in the cache description too. I remember the old days very well when most times in Summer there was always a number of cars parked on the upside of Pretty Sally with their bonnets up due to boiling radiators. Thanks Dog-gone.

OMG my first find. I am so excited. Kylie

Very good hide! Walked past it commenting on the rubbish when........

Sorry Dog-gone for the generic log but I'm trying to catch up on my logging, I currently have over 1000 to log before hitting some powertrails in the US after the block party next week. As always I enjoy the hunt whether I'm solo or with some of my caching or muggle friends. Thanks to those who have accompanied me to make the day more pleasurable and many thanks Dog-gone for placing this cache.

Found it with chrissyg84 and her tribe of little cachers!

Left a little alien, took nothing!

Only a short detour and a clever hide. Went past it the first time but then mr sharnie's tribe doubled back and discovered it. This was the last find on our wonderful three week caching trip to the big island. TFTC

23-Mar-13
This is the first find of the day enroute to Bendigo via Wallan and Lake Eppalock with Square_pegs. A clever hide that fooled me for a few seconds Smile I like the view, the back story and the history here. Its a nice cool morning with the car external temperature gauge reading 10degrees...I'm not sure thats entirely accurate. Thanks Dog-gone.

23-Mar-13
The cache afforded a great view on a crisp morning. A clever hide that I was pleased turned out to be the cache! Thanks to Dog-gone.

What an amazing view from up here on Pretty Sally. Found cache after a short search, good camo ... TFTC

Having been up Pretty Sally in the old days a few times we were looking forward to the drive and in true geocaching fashion you took us to another part that we had not seen before. This can be a busy road as well when you don't want it to be, Good camo we took no notice for quite a while. TFTC Dog gone.

#3385 We decided to make the most of our last free weekend before Christmas & were heading to the metropolis. We decided to detour via Kilmore to grab a couple of caches & glad that we did. Some great views to be had at GZ. Dad initially overlooked the cache but soon enough realised his error - nice job on the camo! Thanks for the cache Dog-gone [^]

16-Nov-12
Like others before me, I almost discarded the camouflage, but luckily didn't. What a simple piece of camouflage, and yet so very effective. Well done Dog-gone, and thanks for the cache.

On my way back from Heathcote to Melbourne. Just finished the Mad Max cache and this being around the corner had to get it. Great view. Clever hide.

19-Oct-12
Glorious spot on a sunny afternoon. Road is busier than I thought it might be, found a clever hide between the traffic. Thanks.

The first cache of a short trip to Northern Victoria. A good hide - you have to keep your thoughts open - and some nice views.

The Demolition Crew (TDC) joined up for one of our regular evening / night cache runs. We had originally planned a run down to Warragul but as it happens on occasions a last minute change of plans had us starting north of the city and working our way south through the city. A nice number of caches collected along the way, and some challenging ones included, and a few more TDC kilometers travelled but we ended up a lot closer to home ground which suited us all. We even ended up chatting to some police at one of the late night caches, this tends to happen when caching at night. Overall another great night with BL and TR.
I've passed by here on many occasions when making my way to Cobram up north. First cache for the run and a nice location. Thanks Dog-gone.

24-Sep-12
Another Monday night and another Demolition Crew (TDC) caching run. Another legendary run of course.... We picked up a small bag of caches, about 25 in all for me, but the caches we did were rewarding. Our caching run took us in a loop around the city, up north, and then down south before retiring for the night. Heaps of fun as usual, and great company would be an understatement....

Always love visiting caches in these parts. Pretty Sally is a great spot, and there are some interesting facts about the Great Dividing Range. Foremost, is that it is the longest mountain range in the world, if not the highest.... Look it up, I did, and was very surprised and proud of that fact. Nice cache here with some great camo. Keep em coming Dog-gone.... TFTC.

The Demolition Crew once again headed out for another fun night of caching.  Knowing that one of the crew was going to need to go into work for a few hours in the middle of the run meant our planned caching in the Warragul area was put aside for another time.  So this evening we travelled many kilometres just picking up a few new caches to the north and south of Melbourne that had recently been published.  The highlight of the night was speaking to a couple of police at a cache late in the evening.  As with every other encounter of this type, they were quite interested in what we were up to, but as soon as we mentioned geocaching the your female policewoman in the passenger seat laughed in recognition of the game, and asked heaps of questions.  I’m sure she’ll be caching soon!

This cache was was the first for the day and and easy find on the way into Melbourne. TFTC.

"A quick drive-by", he said... "Nothing special", he said. Half right.

This was our first detour on the way up north with the car chockers with camping equipment and baggage. Up the dirt road to enjoy the view... the other half pulled out her new DSLR while I jumped out with my toy that points to places and started casting about for the prize, inspecting the features for evil hides, when... Could it be? Not that... wait... Ah. Gotcha.

Another clever hide. Just watch your fingers.

So, after signing the log, I stood for a bit and admired the view, with early childhood memories of chugging up the old road in the Vauxhall, headed for Christmas dinner.

Cheers, mate.

Found at 10:42 AM GAFF1. A lovely scene to the west and we were totally ambivalent of the hardships that the pioneers had to endure to get up what now seems like a simple hill.
We liked the hide - until the next clean up Australia hits the area Wink
Thanks Dog-gone

This log marks the 1445th smiley to be recorded in the stats of WazzaAndWenches.

A quick trip to Tulla to drop off the Wenchette gave us a chance to search for just one cache in each direction.

The view from GZ was quite impressive although the air was a bit smoky from a couple of distant bonfires. Cache located quickly even with its unusual camo job.

Thanks Dog-gone

Loved the hiding spot.. Almost overlooked it. Very creative Smile

well 3rd is better then not finding it at all as that was nearly the case. I grabed it and tossed it to the side not knowing what it was, at first i thought just rubbish and nearly took it to put in the bin. I looked around for about 10mins more and went back. I grabed it again and relised some thing wasnt right. what a cool hide. threw me off.well done Dog-gone

Enjoy......

Well, 2TF on a cache that has so much history in the development of Vic, and it's been published for over a month. Thanks again Dog-gone for another of your clever hides, and a re-visit to a place that I've heard about so often from my dad, who grew up in KilmorE.
Certainly worth the short drive off the highway to see this great view.

Well, that was unexpected!
Was feeling a bit crook this morning and went back to bed.
Took the day off and woke at around 10 am.
Hmm. What to do?
Go for a drive! A bit of caching will make me feel better.
Also an excuse to see if I could navigate with a laptop attached to a GPS receiver.

Just as a point of interest, my grandfather drove his bullock team over Pretty Sally.
It was a steep climb and a sharp decent!

Pretty Sally Hill: named after 'Pretty Sally' who ran a sly grog shanty the in the 1840s.

Gordon Howitt recorded a drag at Pretty Sally Hill on his way to Bendigo in 1853. He wrote 'At this moment appeared two bullock drays loftily laden with wool, in the very act of descending. They were coming on, dragging huge trees behind them by their drag chains, to prevent the ponderous loads rushing precipitously down the declivity, carrying bullock and all before them'
