Time to let this go owing to lack of good hiding spots

27-Jan-22
Probably missing..

26-Jan-22
Just over 12 months sind the last find.
Track maintenance crew has been through on the upper and lower levels, although after reading the hint this shouldn't matter.
I enjoyed scrambling around checking all the likely places where the hint suggested I would find this one... to no avail.
Continued down on the north face and checked out the tunnel.
Low battery meant no chance of taking any photos.
I shall return.
Most likely on my bicycle next time.
A lovely walk in regardless.

08-May-21
A pity! Just couldnt spot this one and it was the most adventurous of the series

05-May-21
Too slippery to risk climbing around this embankment

24-Jan-21
Container full of water. Log is damp but useable ( just )

Lovely day to go for a walk along the trail with 2 babies one strapped to the chest and the other being battled through the slop of the mud. This was our first find for the day and the first in a very long time so it took a while to get our eyes back in the game, however we got there! Cache found and log signed TFTC

Yah! Last time we attempted this one it was missing so today we returned. This time it was with my two kids and 3 nephews in tow. We walked in from Lyonville which was lovely as I hadn’t walked this section before. Took a bit of searching before the oldest nephew yelled out the magical words. Thanks for the cache. Such a lovely trail here.

16-May-20
Took a while. Bit difficult for kids but we still enjoyed.

14-May-20
Restrictions lifted

29-Mar-20
Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis. Advice is to stay home and geocaching is just a game. Geocaching encourages non essential travel and contact transmission is an issue so it is the responsible thing to avoid caching at the moment.
Thanks.

20-Mar-20
This was a nice surprise finding the intact tunnel nearby. Photos were taken before scrambling back up the hill to make a quick find.
Thanks feathertop for the Domino series , we enjoyed following the historic rail trail.

19-Jan-20
On a camping trip with the boys in the area, thought we'd enjoy a walk while finding some caches. While we did have a look at "the tunnel" we couldn't find the cache, (though we also looked for that I suppose) Thanks anyway

19-Jan-20
A cool tunnel under the hill, but couldn't find the cache above.

06-Nov-19
My GPS was way out on this one. It had me looking under trees a good 30 meters away. It finally settled but was still a good 15 meters off.. Thanks for the cache. All the contents look to be in good order.

11/12 caches along the Domino Trail today — all successfully found despite occasional challenges and downpours. TFTC!

Out on a EOFY cache run. A good of a reason as any i suppose. The GPS was suffering from the trees and weather so it added an extra star rating to the search, but the find was made and the interesting area was enjoyed. TFTC.

This was the last of the day for us as it was starting to get late. This one proved to be very elusive as our coords seemed to be about 15 metres away. We ventured down to the tunnel and took some pics. Gave it one last shot and this time we were lucky. Log signed and back safe again. Great location.
Thanks feather top for all your efforts.

I read the sign, then checked my GPS to see I was really close! A quick find, cheers!

I needed a bit of a perk up, so very unexpectedly Sal and I went on a cache run and found around 13 (yes 13 - lucky for some, unlucky for others Wink !) of her caches - it is always nice going on a caching run with the CO. So despite the weather being quite cool, and we could see our breath in the cold drizzle that fell, our navigation skills were exceptional - ok, ok, being in the company of the CO meant we were never looking for long and we even replaced 3 caches so win win for everyone!

Loads of other walkers and joggers enjoying the cooler weather today on the Domino Trail too, but no other cachers as far as we could tell.

Thanks feathertop for the company and for the great little series.

Replaced container at base of tree under a rock at posted coords. Just a small container

First find in our Domino trail trek today, starting at Lyonville and ending at Trentham station. 4 adults and 8 kids. This one was first spotted by 9 year old Albert. Thanks for the cache.

10-Jul-18
great spot on lovely walk. we decided to do the trail from lyonville to trentham, leaving cars at both end.

29-Jun-18
Suscoe decided to have a day out around Trentham today.
Cold as could be up here today, oh well it is around 700 metres after all.
It was mostly overcast with a steady northerly blowing all day.
However it is always nice to wander around the countryside far away from the busy traffic elsewhere in the world.
The reason for today's expedition was the completion of the Domino trail. We are please to say we were able to sort out the hides and we enjoyed the wander along the tracks of this area.

Thanks to feathertop for this hide, nice to be able to turn around and head back now. Oh good, down hill all the way to the car.
Except for the Loop detour.

This was the seventh of eight caches found whilst on a Cubs' Grey Wolf hike along the Domino Trail today, in the company of SirJ-Oz, j-bean and the Grey Wolf Hike Crew.

Having arrived at the titular location, we passed up checking out the tunnel itself for the moment as some muggle dirt bike aficionados were occupying the lower part of the area, and decided to have a group cache hunt instead before moving on.

For the previous six caches SirJ-Oz and I had wound up alternating finds; on this one technically one of the Cubs found it, though SirJ may have given some subtle assistance on where to potentially look... Wink

Signed the log, took nothing, left nothing. Thanks for the cache, feathertop.

Find #3343. Found @ 13:37 with Civil Madman, j-bean and the Grey Wolf Hiking Crew.

We're on a Grey Wolf hike along the Domino trail, and I decided that some caches needed to be found while along the way.

We wanted to check out the tunnel when we got here, but there were some youthful muggles creating havoc with dirt bikes where we wanted to go. We settled for a cache find. One of the cubs proudly exclaimed that he'd found the cache after I suggested to him to look under the object under his hiking stick.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache feathertop

Was a bit worried at first when I saw the size of the bank... It was a bit of a scramble but it didn’t take too long to find. Last find of the day. TFTC.

Fairly easy find thanks

Since I first heard about it I'd always wanted to walk this rail trail. The kids are old enough now and the weather was great so why not today!?
We had a heap of fun on this very scenic walk and the kids loved it just as long as there were plenty of snack stops along the way. Falling asleep in the back seat on the way back home helps as well.

A great spot to sit and view the marshy area from up on high. From here we proceeded all the way to the end of the trail at Lyonville where we had lunch and made ready for the stroll back.

10-Apr-17
Have been looking at this series for a while and penciled it in to do whilst having a couple of nights away in Hepburn. Little did we know it was going to be the day after over 50mm of rain fell!

That was very tricky on the slippery terrain. TFTC

26-Mar-17
We stopped for lunch on a "hairy bench" (mossy bench) and I realised how close we were to this so I dashed off to get it. I actually brought it back to the bench, so I could put a TB in and then went back to replace it. After lunch we went down the track and found the "turnaround point" but everyone in the group except me was so keen to just go back the way we came (the quicker route) and not go for the circuit route which would be a bit longer, that that was what we did. Miss seven, remembering her ant bite, insisting we should, at the very least, *consider* flying back. I told her to go ahead, but faced with the inevitability of failure on that enterprise, she settled for walking.

Thanks for putting the caches along the trail- I enjoyed them Smile

Adieu Feathertop

Found by Team Ninja 02/01/17, find number 948.
I was in the area with the family today and we decided to walk from Lyonville to Trentham along the Domino Trail. We had previously walked parts of the trail before it was extended from the Loop to Lyonville, but hadn't done the full trail in one go. We enjoyed the walk and being a railfan I particularly enjoyed the old bridges.
This was the first cache for the day after walking in from Lyonville. The tunnel at the bottom of the embankment is fantastic!

The final of the day and a lovely place. The trek back to the car (about 2.5km if I calculate correctly) will be a little rough, but the day is nice and cool and the track is a lovely one to walk along. Thanks for this series here today.

27/11/2016 4:58:00 PM - The weather forecast for today was good and suggested ideal conditions to go exploring. Today I teamed up with Square_Pegs and along the way I stopped here to find this cache Smile and take a walk along The Domino Trail.

Thanks feathertop Smile for the adventure.

This was the final find for us today, and a quick one too. We were up above and could see the water passing through below but didn't actually get to see the tunnel. With the series completed, we set off for the pleasant walk back to the start.

Thanks feathertop for this cache and for all in the series, getting out for a walk in locations like these are what I really enjoy.

We started at the Lyonville end of the trail and so we were pleased when the phone started to have reception this hide was not far away. Thanks feathertop for this cache on such a lovely and easy walk for a family with a pram.

31-May-16
Cache spotted from above and quickly dealt with. Then we took a break on the nearby seat before heading back. Not that we really needed a break as our new electric bikes are so easy to ride. But the sun was shining and it just seemed like such a nice peaceful spot to enjoy for a few moments. Thanks.

Out for the day with a lovely group of fellow cachers. Enjoyed the walk of the Trentham rail trail and thought we'd pick up a few more on the way home.

Out with a great group today enjoying a fantastic Autumn day. Yogster, Jaggedwings, Cherad and Fergzter made up our group. We had a great time following the trail and accumulating smilies. It's a great trail with beautiful scenery. TFTC. TNLN.

Out geocaching today with GeoYogster, Jaggedwings, Cherad and Mi5sie. It was decided via facebook that the Domino trail was on the "to do" list. So at 10am we all met at the Trentham Train Station and started walking. We enjoyed doing the walk and managed to get every cache in the series. Despite a few geokids dragging their heels we managed the whole thing in about 3 hours. We saw tractors, dirt bikes, bicycles and horse riders on our wander along the trail. A lovely day had by all. Thanks for placing this series for us to find Feathertop.

25-Apr-16
Found with Yogster, Jaggedwings, Mi5sie and Fergzter as we set out to enjoy the day, and this amazing trail, the youngest member of our team along with all the other geokids loved investigating everything. We didn't know this area was here, and it is such a beautiful area. Thanks Feathertop.

With and RDO today, I wasn't going to waste it. Even though the forecast was only for 12 degrees, it wasn't going to deter me. Should I walk, or should I ride ?? The bike won out, so It was time to don the helmet and set off. The first part of the track was very bumpy, with sleepers galore !! The rest of the track was fine. I had a blast today, between the showers and the sunshine. Luckily I had no DNF's, but a couple were very close !! There was a good variety in the hides and the scenery was ever changing. Thanks for showing me a part of the world I hadn't visited before. TFTC feathertop Big Grin

Travelling around Australia and we are currently staying in Woodend.

Today Mr Felix decided he would like to walk the Domino series out of Trentham so Mrs Felix dropped him out of town and he ambled along collecting smilies and enjoying the forest on a 'dry' cool Winters day. Just perfect.

Mrs Felix headed into town and collected the local caches before we joined up to head home. Cool

I had some spare time today so I thought I would get the treadly out and do this series. Well it turned into a bit of a disaster for me, partly through lack of planning for what I thought would be a straightforward rail trail ride and partly due to the lack of trail markers here when veering off the main rail trail. I was lost and heading towards Lyonville at one stage and pushing the bike through the bush at others. [B)]

There were muggles at GZ the first time I went past so I left it until the return trip and it didn't take too long to find the cache in its little hidey hole.

Thanks for the series feathertop.

The Mainebird clan finally got around to doing this series after wanting to do so since we starting geocaching. The last in the series! Thank goodness as we all had tired legs and we knew we had a 3.8km walk back to the car! DaddaMainebird was given bank scrambling duty and soon had the cache in hand. We have thoroughly enjoyed this trail, feathertop. Thankyou for bringing us out here. A favourite point from the Mainebird clan!

Last one for me in this series. Second time visit after getting bogged one month back on the Trentham approach. This time came via Domino Road from Lyonville side. Much more passable in 2WD. Walked up to sign to read about the track and had good look around before heading down to GZ. Easy find with help from clue. GPs was a bit jumpy with trees either side and happy to get final smiley in this epic quest. Favourite point well deserved. TNLN TFTC feathertop.

Find No. 674. Found with FUF009 at 3.53pm

Footy in Trentham for the day and while Mr Tyred n Cranky was at the footy, after lunch Mrs Tyred n Cranky caught up with FUF009 and spent the afternoon caching.
First up The Domino Trail - FUF009 had his pushbike but I was walking it. If only I had put my bike in we would have been a lot quicker but we had all afternoon to do this.

The walk between caches was really enjoyable, wow, only one more to go before turning around - nearly made it to the end.

Well this certainly wasn't where we expected - seeing the seat in the distance we thought it to be there but we were wrong. Had no problems finding it though

Took bigger beetle - Left rainbow heart eraser.

Find # 1635 @ 1553 H

Mr Tyred n Cranky had football duties today down this way, so I decided to load up my push bike to hit the Domino trail and a few others around the area.
First on the hit list was to head south and to attempt to climb the mountain and boy what a mountain. I ended up walking some of the way to the top and in the end it was all worth it.
Both the view and the sight of the tower were well worth the effort.

Now with Mrs Tyred n Cranky on the rest of the trail. while I road the bike she walked. I think, with all the water and mud around on the trail she had the better deal.

Along the trail we had 2 GSPr's and even with these the tree cover was playing silly buggers and putting us in 2 location for some caches while others we were both spot on.

The trail was a pleasure to ride along (a lot better than my earlier ride up the "hill" today)

#505 Following a run of 40+ degree days and another forecast top in the high 30s in NE Victoria, we took the opportunity to head south of the divide looking for a cool spot. We ended up deciding on Trentham to do the Domino Trail with the Geohounds. We have never been here before and without geocaching may never of known about it. We all thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful trail and generally didn't have too much trouble locating all the caches along the way. Started from Trentham Station and took a couple of wrong turns and ended up completing exactly 10kms of exercise.

Thanks feathertop for the well constructed series and bringing us here. This was our 9th find for the day, a very beautiful spot along the trail.

Approaching GZ, we thought oh oh, we should have been down there, so went back to where the embankment finished and went down to the the tunnel and admired that. Then after looking around a bit, read up a bit more and realised we had to head back up. Scrambled up and soon made the find.

Have heard so much about this trail and seeing it was a great day for caching decided to give it a go by foot. Took a couple of wrong turns and had to do some backtracking as the trail was not clearly marked in places. We also did the last 3 out of order but still managed to find our way. Was certainly glad to get back to the car for a sit down as a few seats along the trail certainly wouldn't go astray.

A bit wet and muddy along the track and thru the tunnel. Cache took us a bit to find but was eventually signed and on our way

Thanks for the series feathertop

Yeah, the turning point of this series! It took us a little while to find this hide but the vulture got there. All that was left now was the walk back to the car. Again, it would have been nice to find the odd seat on the way (apart from the mossy one at the tunnel).
We got through the whole trail, one of us sore but both very happy. Thank you for this great tour which at the moment stretched our ability just right beyond the comfort zone. This is the proof that caching is a healthy pastime as well as the perfect excuse to get out and about.
