Great place for a cache. All good today. spot on co-ords. Thanks for bringing me here.
It was a wet and chilly day in Trentham today, but a planned outing with a friend was not to be missed. She was very keen to learn a bit more about geocaching, so we layered up and packed the umbrellas and ventured out.Easily spotted as we walked up to the area. Covered up a little more after completing the log. TFTC
Find number 12847 at 12:22:58pm on Friday the 26 January 2024Heading up to Ballarat for the weekend for two friends 60th birthdays, combined on the one night. Decided to take a circuitous route and grab some different and unique geocaches along the way. We travelled via Trentham, Daylesford, Creswick and then finally Ballarat. The oddest thing happened in Creswick, we were visiting a TDOC cache in the RACV Country Club area and we couldn't drive all the way to the GZ because these people had blocked the road, wasn't far so I decided to walk and as I passed these people (obviously moving in to the townhouse), we looked at each other, Vickie?, Bernie?, old friends from Melbourne were helping move there daughter in. You never know whats around the corner of life...A quick grab on the way through to the old rail trail.**Thanks for placing this cache feathertop**---Don't miss finishing the Ballarat GeoTour before it ends on 4th March 2024. A list of the geocaches can be found [here](https://coord.info/BM9GWJ5). The final GeoTour Event is the [Farewell Ballarat GeoTour](https://coord.info/GCAFQ8B) on the 18th February 2024!You can also get prepared for the 2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards by checking out our preliminary lists [here](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists/).
It was a toss up today between walking or mtbing. Reluctant Geoteen declined my invitation to come along & I felt guilty leaving Geolabradog at home, so Shanks' pony it was.
I didn't intend coming here on a weekend but here I am........ on a cold, overcast Saturday.
We loved this section. No people & Geolabradog offlead. I was no longer looking for GZ. I started my searching at 10m. My notoriously bad GPS averaged 8 - 12m out all day. Many thanks ?? ?????????????? ????

Decided to turn this spot into our picnic lunch spot - but alas the flies descended and we were quickly on our way.
A nice easy cache here to complete the domino series, thanks for all the fun along the way. Cache is in perfect knick.
It has been a while since i hit the road and found some caches so i was wrapped to have found myself with time today and quite a number of days free over the next three weeks. I spent the afternoon caching in the Macedon and Trentham areas today and ended up with 25 finds, 2 DNFs, 1 did not attempt and a lot of fun. The geopooch has missed exploring and walking and most particularly swimming, she managed to get plenty of all three. I tested my legs by wearing shorts and unsurprisingly, found that blackberry, thistle and scrub were far more uncomfortable than usual. I also found some pretty sketchy four wheel drive tracks including steep hills, puddles, deep ruts and washouts. One of the hills was too much for my poor old banger and i had to do a thirty point turn on a steep section to return and find another way, i thought only fairly minor damage was inflicted. Unfortunately the geomobile was making some horrible noises on the way home so i think i will have to check it out tomorrow and see what i can do to keep her on the road for a little longer.

Found at 12.40pm. This one was lying on the ground in the open. The stump appears to have been damaged since the last find. We rehid the cache next to the stump and concealed it.

This cache was found without the aid of any devices.
Although I did take a peek at the map as I wandered away from the previous DNF.
It stood out like the icing on a cake!
Thanks feathertop.
Now it's time for more tree walking and limbo dancing to get back to the car.

Went out with merkin of loki for our catchup walkies session, we both needed somewhere easy but lengthy and with a stunning landscape to boot. Trentham didnt disappoint and this trail was the perfect friend catchup walk!! We scored a stunning day and we had fun just blowing off the cobwebs of our cache finding skills.
Seen this little guy hasn't had a visit for a while decided to come out to say hello, found the cache very easy cords was great, cache is in good condition.. thankyou for this find
We love Trentham as a holiday spot and were so glad that restrictions had been lifted so we could head out here to enjoy the second week of the school holidays exploring Trentham and it's neighbouring little towns. We arrived at our holiday rental yesterday and along with the many amazing things the house had to offer in the garage were a couple of bikes. So today joined with only 2 others from the Clan we took on the fantastic Domino Rail Trail just down the road from us on the bikes. Took the turn off here and this little loop had struggled with the recent rain the worse, had to jump off the bike every now and then to avoid getting stuck in the mud. Lucky around the cache was on higher ground so I managed to avoid getting wet feet for now. Easy jump off the bike again and signed the log quickly. TFTC Feathertop
Finally picked this one up. We did the full trail a while back and missed this one as it was off the path. This time we headed in from Domino road, through a few muddy puddles. Thanks for the cache.
Fantastic to be finally able to fill in our one remaining cache from the Domino Trail. Lay time we were on the trail which was almost two years ago we stood on the main trail and looked at where the phone was pointing and and thought about dropping down off the embankment and bushwhacking across but all decided it was not goin to happen. So today after reading the instructions and realizing there is a loop track to follow we set off from Lyonville to claim it.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis. Advice is to stay home and geocaching is just a game. Geocaching encourages non essential travel and contact transmission is an issue so it is the responsible thing to avoid caching at the moment.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Yippee, it’s finally our weekend!! After a mammoth week working retail we are heading north to cache in the bush to get away from the woes of the coronavirus.
As the previous finder said, the cache is satched , so we have replaced sistema and new logbook for future finders.
Thanks feathertop for the series placement.

Soggy logs. I used the container to refill my drink bottle there was so much water in here. Unable to sign log as its soaked. It's gonna need a replacement that's for sure. Thanks feathertop!
Pretty location.. Love Trentham. Nice day out for the boys on their bikes.. picnic in the park and GeoNanna showing the grandkids how to cache... Note to self - Don't let them bring the scooters next time... TFTC
Just about found them all along the trail with dehands and the geo boys. Great row of smilies today! TFTC
I needed a bit of a perk up, so very unexpectedly Sal and I went on a cache run and found around 13 (yes 13 - lucky for some, unlucky for others !) of her caches - it is always nice going on a caching run with the CO. So despite the weather being quite cool, and we could see our breath in the cold drizzle that fell, our navigation skills were exceptional - ok, ok, being in the company of the CO meant we were never looking for long and we even replaced 3 caches so win win for everyone!
Loads of other walkers and joggers enjoying the cooler weather today on the Domino Trail too, but no other cachers as far as we could tell.
Thanks feathertop for the company and for the great little series.

A morning walk/bike ride with the Sistema crew had us returning here to try and get the last 5 caches on the trail. I'd done the first half over 3 years ago and was back to turn two DNFs into smilies! I did manage that but also collected another DNF on my travels! It was a lovely morning to head out. I can't believe how busy the trail was - people everywhere (although not on the loop). We had lots of fun then headed into town for lunch at the bakery when we had finished. Thanks so much for these caches along a great little part of history.
Suscoe decided to have a day out around Trentham today.
Cold as could be up here today, oh well it is around 700 metres after all.
It was mostly overcast with a steady northerly blowing all day.
However it is always nice to wander around the countryside far away from the busy traffic elsewhere in the world.
The reason for today's expedition was the completion of the Domino trail. We are please to say we were able to sort out the hides and we enjoyed the wander along the tracks of this area.
Thanks to feathertop for this hide and trail, we did enjoy this part of the day, nice to have this trail ticked off the list at last.
It has been a while since we started the first two some time ago.
A favourite for the work done out here. Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A year later and we were back again to pick up the last cache of the series left undone. It was interesting to get off the main path a little and make the easy find with the kids.
Cheers feathertop, thanks for giving us an excuse to make it back to this beautiful walk.

Have been looking at this series for a while and penciled it in to do whilst having a couple of nights away in Hepburn. Little did we know it was going to be the day after over 50mm of rain fell!
Had to log this once we got back to civilization as internet coverage was pretty bad in the bush. TFTC

I was in the area with the family today and we decided to walk from Lyonville to Trentham along the Domino Trail. We had previously walked parts of the trail before it was extended from the Loop to Lyonville, but hadn't done the full trail in one go. We enjoyed the walk and being a railfan I particularly enjoyed the old bridges.
Having previously completed the section from Doctor's Creek to Trentham, GeoDad and I returned to Lyonville to drive our two cars to Trentham while the rest of the family continued along the trail. It also provided the opportunity to walk via the Loop and turn the final cache in the series into a smiley. I located this one shortly after two muggled walked past enjoying the beautiful afternoon sunshine.
My thanks to feathertop for placing and maintaining this great series!

27/11/2016 4:58:00 PM - The weather forecast for today was good and suggested ideal conditions to go exploring. Today I teamed up with Square_Pegs and along the way I stopped here to find this cache and take a walk along The Domino Trail.

Well this did in fact end up being the loop back for us. There were several impressively coloured parrots that flew across the trail in front of us here.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Found this section of the track from the junction to GZ quite slippery and muddy. We had to negotiate our way past many ruts full of water and as Mrs Beetle is quite an inexperience bike rider I thought we might have ended up in a predicament here. But we survived without getting wet and at GZ the cache was quickly found in the obvious spot. Thanks.
Out geocaching today with GeoYogster, Jaggedwings, Cherad and Mi5sie. It was decided via facebook that the Domino trail was on the "to do" list. So at 10am we all met at the Trentham Train Station and started walking. We enjoyed doing the walk and managed to get every cache in the series. Despite a few geokids dragging their heels we managed the whole thing in about 3 hours. We saw tractors, dirt bikes, bicycles and horse riders on our wander along the trail. A lovely day had by all. Thanks for placing this series for us to find Feathertop.
Out for the day with a lovely group of fellow cachers. Enjoyed the walk of the Trentham rail trail and thought we'd pick up a few more on the way home.
Marshall's Geelong found this cache today,
Easy find. It'd definitely on the loop. Tftc.

Out with a great group today enjoying a fantastic Autumn day. Yogster, Jaggedwings, Cherad and Fergzter made up our group. We had a great time following the trail and accumulating smilies. It's a great trail with beautiful scenery. TFTC. TNLN.
Found with Yogster, Jaggedwings, Mi5sie and Fergzter as we set out to enjoy the day, and this amazing trail, the youngest member of our team along with all the other geokids loved investigating everything. We didn't know this area was here, and it is such a beautiful area. Thanks Feathertop.
TFTC. Out to do the Domino Trail today with McStormy. So we get to the junction after the last one and the trail appears to head straight back down into the gully. "Let's try this access road", I said as we plodded along before getting a better reading with the GPS. Well the GPS must have been having a bit of fun with us as it suddenly swung around and points back towards where the trail was heading. So we veer off along another parallel road that seems to be going in the right direction. Sure enough, we stumble across a trail marker that lets us know we are going in the right direction. Quickly found the cache at the GZ and prepared for the walk back out, this time though once we hit the rails we followed them all the way back to the station.
Thank you for a very good series there Feathertop, enjoyed the walk, the history and the area. Very keen to come back now and follow the rest of the trail as far as it now goes.

Out for a bush walk today with GeoYogster and decided to nock of your series. TFTC Feathertop.
Out and about today in Trentham with Ausfox and Bentley in the scenic Trentham Blakcwood area. A beautiful sunny Saturday to be out bush.
Managed to pretty much drive this whole series, with roads running alongside the trail. Thanks for putting this together, found them all and really enjoyed this old rail trail.

In the area today with ST37E and Wozzle 68 with the aim to complete the whole of the Domino Trail. This was another nice quick find today. Such a pretty spot here.
With and RDO today, I wasn't going to waste it. Even though the forecast was only for 12 degrees, it wasn't going to deter me. Should I walk, or should I ride ?? The bike won out, so It was time to don the helmet and set off. The first part of the track was very bumpy, with sleepers galore !! The rest of the track was fine. I had a blast today, between the showers and the sunshine. Luckily I had no DNF's, but a couple were very close !! There was a good variety in the hides and the scenery was ever changing. Thanks for showing me a part of the world I hadn't visited before. TFTC feathertop
Travelling around Australia and we are currently staying in Woodend.
Today Mr Felix decided he would like to walk the Domino series out of Trentham so Mrs Felix dropped him out of town and he ambled along collecting smilies and enjoying the forest on a 'dry' cool Winters day. Just perfect.
Mrs Felix headed into town and collected the local caches before we joined up to head home.

I had some spare time today so I thought I would get the treadly out and do this series. Well it turned into a bit of a disaster for me, partly through lack of planning for what I thought would be a straightforward rail trail ride and partly due to the lack of trail markers here when veering off the main rail trail. I was lost and heading towards Lyonville at one stage and pushing the bike through the bush at others. [B)]
This one is where I somehow ended up south of the cache on Domino road and I had to go cross-country after the track I was on ended suddenly. Luckily the cache wasn't too far away and the bush was kind.
Thanks feathertop for the series.

The Mainebird clan finally got around to doing this series after wanting to do so since we starting geocaching. This one was found by HannaMainebird and was quite empty so we put in a few choice swaps. The geokids were tiring now so it was lucky we were near the end. TFTC. On to the next!

Find No. 675. Found with FUF009
Footy in Trentham for the day and while Mr Tyred n Cranky was at the footy, after lunch Mrs Tyred n Cranky caught up with FUF009 and spent the afternoon caching.
First up The Domino Trail - FUF009 had his pushbike but I was walking it. If only I had put my bike in we would have been a lot quicker but we had all afternoon to do this.
The walk between caches was really enjoyable. Yes this is the last one on this part of the trail, now it's time to turn around and enjoy a pleasant walk back to the main road to do those on the other side. Now I wish I had my bike.

Find # 1636
Mr Tyred n Cranky had football duties today down this way, so I decided to load up my push bike to hit the Domino trail and a few others around the area.
First on the hit list was to head south and to attempt to climb the mountain and boy what a mountain. I ended up walking some of the way to the top and in the end it was all worth it.
Both the view and the sight of the tower were well worth the effort.
Now with Mrs Tyred n Cranky on the rest of the trail. while I road the bike she walked. I think, with all the water and mud around on the trail she had the better deal.
Along the trail we had 2 GSPr's and even with these the tree cover was playing silly buggers and putting us in 2 location for some caches while others we were both spot on.
The trail was a pleasure to ride along (a lot better than my earlier ride up the "hill" today)

This was the last one on our ride along the Domino Trail today. We really had to do the 'mountain bike' thing to get to GZ but once there, it was a quick find at 13:10 and we were soon on our way back to the station - or coffee and cake.
What a wonderful group of caches in a great area so I'm allocating a fave point on this one to cover the series.

Another find in a beautiful part if the Victorian bush. Slight change with the trees on this detour from the main trail. TFTC.
#506 Following a run of 40+ degree days and another forecast top in the high 30s in NE Victoria, we took the opportunity to head south of the divide looking for a cool spot. We ended up deciding on Trentham to do the Domino Trail with the Geohounds. We have never been here before and without geocaching may never of known about it. We all thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful trail and generally didn't have too much trouble locating all the caches along the way. Started from Trentham Station and took a couple of wrong turns and ended up completing exactly 10kms of exercise.
Thanks feathertop for the well constructed series and bringing us here. This was our 10th find for the day, took a break here as we figured about half way through our journey, we all rehydrated before continuing back to Trentham.

Have heard so much about this trail and seeing it was a great day for caching decided to give it a go by foot. Took a couple of wrong turns and had to do some backtracking as the trail was not clearly marked in places. We also did the last 3 out of order but still managed to find our way. Was certainly glad to get back to the car for a sit down as a few seats along the trail certainly wouldn't go astray.
Obviously a lot of rain in the area as the track was quite muddy in places. A bit of a search for this one but eventually found and signed.

With so much rain lately the path here was under water in many places. Alpha male tells the junior clan member to go around on the high side. Junior clan member knows better???? wet feet.
The cache was hidden where we expected to find it. Quick grab and sign, then turning right to find the tunnel.

We approached this one from Domino Road and did a bit of a bush bash over to the cache. We looked and looked and almost gave up as our GPS was jumping a lot. Some bush walking muggles came along and we had a chat. Then, what do you know, Motndarg made the find. Yippee!!
Did quite a bit of bush bashing to get to this cache - short cut! After some time without any luck we were about to call it quits and suddenly it just appeared. Had a nice chat to some friendly muggles, who pointed us in the correct direction, otherwise we may be still be walking!!!!!!!THTC
Found it! Today the Walkabouter's walked The Domino Trail. It's tricky to find caches whilst bushwalking with friends. I can't spend too long looking or I get left behind. So this is one of the caches I found today on this trail. TFTC SL
Doc and 2nd Knight almost came to blows and they raced through the bush leaping logs in single bounds to be first there. Doc pipped the Knight this time even though Knight got there first Doc came up with the treasured cache in hand. We were amused.
Another race between geoscout and Doc Dodgers - leaping through the bush, GPSs in hand. Very amusing! Doc Dodgers got the find though!
After a delightful lunch in Trentham, we set off with LinearZZ and the geo-greyhound to complete Domino Trail series. This was the first one on our walk and Mrs LinearZZ soon had it in hand after a bit of digging around. TFTC
We parked the drop off vehicle on the Domino Rd and set off up the loop access track. Arriving at the parting of the ways, we sought this cache. It had not been found since March and initial foraging was unsuccessful. However, Mrs LZZ was persistent and uncovered the cache at 13:45 where it was all the time. TFTC.
We came we saw we cached. Down this way with my caching buddy Slink1 for a planned caching trip.

This was the last in the series for me, which in a way was as well as the day was getting on. At GZ I saw the only ground-based wildlife during the series - a wallaby which quickly made itself scarce.
Many thanks Feathertop for a well put-together and enjoyable series, made better with an excellent day's weather. All caches were well hidden but eminently findable with good coords and hints. A great trail to put them on too.
