Out in the rain and the damp - have wanted to do this track for ages. First cache ticked off. Winning.
It was a wet and chilly day in Trentham today, but a planned outing with a friend was not to be missed. She was very keen to learn a bit more about geocaching, so we layered up and packed the umbrellas and ventured out.The GPS kept us busy bouncing around but eventually found the well hidden cache with the help of the hint. TFTC
Find number 12848 at 12:30:14pm on Friday the 26 January 2024Heading up to Ballarat for the weekend for two friends 60th birthdays, combined on the one night. Decided to take a circuitous route and grab some different and unique geocaches along the way. We travelled via Trentham, Daylesford, Creswick and then finally Ballarat. The oddest thing happened in Creswick, we were visiting a TDOC cache in the RACV Country Club area and we couldn't drive all the way to the GZ because these people had blocked the road, wasn't far so I decided to walk and as I passed these people (obviously moving in to the townhouse), we looked at each other, Vickie?, Bernie?, old friends from Melbourne were helping move there daughter in. You never know whats around the corner of life...This one was one of my primary targets for the day, needed to satisfy a size "Not Chosen" hole in my monthly calendar days for various challenges. Managed to drive (4x4) all the way into the GZ from the south. Cache was in good condition.**Thanks for placing this cache feathertop**---Don't miss finishing the Ballarat GeoTour before it ends on 4th March 2024. A list of the geocaches can be found [here](https://coord.info/BM9GWJ5). The final GeoTour Event is the [Farewell Ballarat GeoTour](https://coord.info/GCAFQ8B) on the 18th February 2024!You can also get prepared for the 2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards by checking out our preliminary lists [here](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists/).
Doing the trail today with some muggles and stopped to grab this one while we were waiting for one to catch up. Log is a bit wet but still ok.
It was a toss up today between walking or mtbing. Reluctant Geoteen declined my invitation to come along & I felt guilty leaving Geolabradog at home, so Shanks' pony it was.
I didn't intend coming here on a weekend but here I am........ on a cold, overcast Saturday.
There were people everywhere. I had to keep walking here 1st time round - there were 2 big groups of people either side of me. Stopped on my return & couldn't believe it, when again, a big group of people passed & a family of 6 going the opposite way! I used the loitering time to grab some scooby snacks before finally reaching for the cache. My notoriously bad GPS averaged 8 - 12m out all day. Many thanks ?? ?????????????? ????

Oh happy days - this is great cycle track for young and old to explore with many side tracks leading off the main trail
Found at 12.30pm. A nice detour off the main track. Quite a few walkers using the rail trail.
M found this one.

Rough day this is the first we have found from trentham end , hopefully get a couple on the way back got muggled by cyclists a few spots
Happy Australia Day feathertop.
This cache was the primary goal for today.
That being said, I had a great day out with +Wife and our GeoMutts.
Lots of finds. A DNF back in town. New locations visited.
A few litres of spring water collected.
A pizza dinner by the shore of Daylesford Lake and a lightning show to behold on our way back to the city.
Cache in good order.
Thanks Sally.
A bonus of 264 #unloved days .
Added to the list of favourites!

Went out with merkin of loki for our catchup walkies session, we both needed somewhere easy but lengthy and with a stunning landscape to boot. Trentham didnt disappoint and this trail was the perfect friend catchup walk!! We scored a stunning day and we had fun just blowing off the cobwebs of our cache finding skills.
Skipped the last one due to too many muggles around! Will come back for it. Doing the loop first . With nyochi.
First find on the domino track today after a DNF at the closest one to Lyonville.
Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis. Advice is to stay home and geocaching is just a game. Geocaching encourages non essential travel and contact transmission is an issue so it is the responsible thing to avoid caching at the moment.
Thanks.
Thanks.
This cache was a nice quick find after the previous DNF. One more to go.
Thanks feathertop for the series placement.

On a camping trip with the boys in the area, thought we'd enjoy a walk while finding some caches. This one was quite sneaky, but eventually something not quite right was spotted while searching a few metres away. TFTC
Another cache find cleaning up missing sections of this trail. Log is okay with this one. Though the containers wet inside. Logs being protected by the zippy lock bag for now.
10/12 caches along the Domino Trail today — all successfully found despite occasional challenges and downpours. TFTC!
Pretty location.. Love Trentham. Nice day out for the boys on their bikes.. picnic in the park and GeoNanna showing the grandkids how to cache... Note to self - Don't let them bring the scooters next time... TFTC
Tftc quick find. Trying to close the container sand flicked in my eyes. No one else walking the track so far today. Peacefull
Out on a EOFY cache run. A good of a reason as any i suppose. It took some navigating to find a dry path to GZ but thankfully it was worth the effort. TFTC.
Find 2151
Busy at the junction with horse riders, walkers and cyclists. Paused until clear and off for a quick find . Log signed and back safe again.
Thanks

Sadly couldn't locate this one today it was getting dark quick so had to have a quick look. Will have to come back another day for a look
Despite seeing wombat scat, we couldn't locate the wombat. Maybe the geo boys were a little loud? Great smilie collecting with dehands today. TFTC
I needed a bit of a perk up, so very unexpectedly Sal and I went on a cache run and found around 13 (yes 13 - lucky for some, unlucky for others !) of her caches - it is always nice going on a caching run with the CO. So despite the weather being quite cool, and we could see our breath in the cold drizzle that fell, our navigation skills were exceptional - ok, ok, being in the company of the CO meant we were never looking for long and we even replaced 3 caches so win win for everyone!
Loads of other walkers and joggers enjoying the cooler weather today on the Domino Trail too, but no other cachers as far as we could tell.
Thanks feathertop for the company and for the great little series.

We were looking for a place to enjoy a walk today so decided to explore this track. We were just about ready to pack up and head to the local pub for a refreshing ale. Thanks for the cache.
A morning walk/bike ride with the Sistema crew had us returning here to try and get the last 5 caches on the trail. I'd done the first half over 3 years ago and was back to turn two DNFs into smilies! I did manage that but also collected another DNF on my travels! It was a lovely morning to head out. I can't believe how busy the trail was - people everywhere (although not on the loop). We had lots of fun then headed into town for lunch at the bakery when we had finished. Thanks so much for these caches along a great little part of history.
Second find in our Domino trail trek today, starting at Lyonville and ending at Trentham station. 4 adults and 8 kids. This one was found by Little Miss 4. Thanks for the cache.
Suscoe decided to have a day out around Trentham today.
Cold as could be up here today, oh well it is around 700 metres after all.
It was mostly overcast with a steady northerly blowing all day.
However it is always nice to wander around the countryside far away from the busy traffic elsewhere in the world.
The reason for today's expedition was the completion of the Domino trail. We are please to say we were able to sort out the hides and we enjoyed the wander along the tracks of this area.
Thanks to feathertop for another nice hide on this trail.
A quick find thank goodness, the up hill on the bike was starting to become a pain in the legs.

This was the sixth of eight caches found whilst on a Cubs' Grey Wolf hike along the Domino Trail today, in the company of SirJ-Oz, j-bean and the Grey Wolf Hike Crew.
Once more it was SirJ-Oz who unerringly homed in to quickly make the find here, whilst myself and several Cubs were still searching other options at GZ.
Signed the log, thanks for the cache, feathertop.

Find #3342. Found @ 13:30 with Civil Madman, j-bean and the Grey Wolf Hiking Crew.
We're on a Grey Wolf hike along the Domino trail, and I decided that some caches needed to be found while along the way.
I went off trail too early and once I found the cache, realised that there was a much simpler approach to GZ.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache feathertop

Enjoying this series of caches! Thanks for providing an additional reason to enjoy this pleasant stroll. TNLNSL, TFTC.
Since I first heard about it I'd always wanted to walk this rail trail. The kids are old enough now and the weather was great so why not today!?
We had a heap of fun on this very scenic walk and the kids loved it just as long as there were plenty of snack stops along the way. Falling asleep in the back seat on the way back home helps as well.
Standing near the path logging the cache while bike riders pass might have been looked a bit suss if it wasn't for my kids keeping the attention off me by asking questions REALLY LOUDLY while they did so.

Have been looking at this series for a while and penciled it in to do whilst having a couple of nights away in Hepburn. Little did we know it was going to be the day after over 50mm of rain fell!
Very wet underfoot today. TFTC

The penultimate cache for us on the trail today - well sort of, as we picked up the bridge one, on the way back. A quick dash off the track and a sprint to the right area, then a quick hop over to what looked hopeful... and it was. Hoorah!! The children were apparently ravenous by now and asked for lunch with renewed urgency.
Found by Team Ninja 02/01/17, find number 949.
I was in the area with the family today and we decided to walk from Lyonville to Trentham along the Domino Trail. We had previously walked parts of the trail before it was extended from the Loop to Lyonville, but hadn't done the full trail in one go. We enjoyed the walk and being a railfan I particularly enjoyed the old bridges.
This was a short walk off the trail. Cache is in good nick. TFTC!

27/11/2016 4:57:00 PM - The weather forecast for today was good and suggested ideal conditions to go exploring. Today I teamed up with Square_Pegs and along the way I stopped here to find this cache and take a walk along The Domino Trail.
Thanks feathertop for the adventure.

As we approached the junction there were some other walkers behind us along the track. With the log signed and the container tucked safely back in position, they passed by on the main trail and we headed off down the smaller track.
Thanks feathertop for the cache.
Thanks feathertop for the cache.
Been meaning to get these last 4 for ages.... today was a perfect day for caching
Our 2nd find along this beautiful trail way today. Thanks feathertop for the cache.
Unfortunately we are 'dinosaur' cachers. We don't have any apps on our phone and when planning a caching trip we select the caches we want to do and write the information down. We nearly came unstuck here though as I forgot to actually write the cache co-ordinates down. We found the track junction and checked out the nearest places that fitted the clue but came up empty handed. We checked the phone but had no reception so we were annoyed that it looked like we were going to have to DNF this one.
But everything turned out okay as at the next cache we managed one bar of reception which was just enough to get us onto the website and get the missing information.
Then it was a quick stop and grab on the way back. Thanks.

Out geocaching today with GeoYogster, Jaggedwings, Cherad and Mi5sie. It was decided via facebook that the Domino trail was on the "to do" list. So at 10am we all met at the Trentham Train Station and started walking. We enjoyed doing the walk and managed to get every cache in the series. Despite a few geokids dragging their heels we managed the whole thing in about 3 hours. We saw tractors, dirt bikes, bicycles and horse riders on our wander along the trail. A lovely day had by all. Thanks for placing this series for us to find Feathertop.
Out for the day with a lovely group of fellow cachers. Enjoyed the walk of the Trentham rail trail and thought we'd pick up a few more on the way home.
Marshall's Geelong found this cache today,
East find. Although there was a bit of muggle activity. Tftc

Out with a great group today enjoying a fantastic Autumn day. Yogster, Jaggedwings, Cherad and Fergzter made up our group. We had a great time following the trail and accumulating smilies. It's a great trail with beautiful scenery. TFTC. TNLN.
Found with Yogster, Jaggedwings, Mi5sie and Fergzter as we set out to enjoy the day, and this amazing trail, the youngest member of our team along with all the other geokids loved investigating everything. We didn't know this area was here, and it is such a beautiful area. Thanks Feathertop.
TFTC. Out to do the Domino Trail today with McStormy. Find the junction, check! Find the cache, check! Read the description after replacing the signed book, DUH. Calling this one nine down two to go, now not in order.
Out for a bush walk today with GeoYogster and decided to nock of your series. TFTC Feathertop. Just a foot note, the log was a little damp.
Out and about today in Trentham with Ausfox and Bentley in the scenic Trentham Blakcwood area. A beautiful sunny Saturday to be out bush.
Managed to pretty much drive this whole series, with roads running alongside the trail. Thanks for putting this together, found them all and really enjoyed this old rail trail.

In the area today with ST37E and Wozzle 68 with the aim to complete the whole of the Domino Trail. This one was a quick find and now the decision......which way to loop.
This was a quick find by the glanvillegirls and a decision to go clockwise was made and off to the next.
Tftc! Each time we walk along here we get a bit further down, lovely walk!!
With and RDO today, I wasn't going to waste it. Even though the forecast was only for 12 degrees, it wasn't going to deter me. Should I walk, or should I ride ?? The bike won out, so It was time to don the helmet and set off. The first part of the track was very bumpy, with sleepers galore !! The rest of the track was fine. I had a blast today, between the showers and the sunshine. Luckily I had no DNF's, but a couple were very close !! There was a good variety in the hides and the scenery was ever changing. Thanks for showing me a part of the world I hadn't visited before. TFTC feathertop
Travelling around Australia and we are currently staying in Woodend.
Today Mr Felix decided he would like to walk the Domino series out of Trentham so Mrs Felix dropped him out of town and he ambled along collecting smilies and enjoying the forest on a 'dry' cool Winters day. Just perfect.
Mrs Felix headed into town and collected the local caches before we joined up to head home.

I had some spare time today so I thought I would get the treadly out and do this series. Well it turned into a bit of a disaster for me, partly through lack of planning for what I thought would be a straightforward rail trail ride and partly due to the lack of trail markers here when veering off the main rail trail. I was lost and heading towards Lyonville at one stage and pushing the bike through the bush at others. [B)]
No problems with this one. It was the easiest find of the series. Thanks for the series feathertop.

What a beautiful walk, didn't even know that this area existed given that we live in the Dandenongs so thanks for this cache and the others in the series
