Hi everyone!
We want to archive this event soon so could everyone please make sure they have "retrieved" GC's and TB's - there's still 3 listed (which is pretty good really!)
Also there's about 20 teams that haven't logged the event yet, could they do so soon. We will archive in about a week's time
Thanks everyone, it was a fun (if wet) arvo!!

Thanks for organizing a great day. The weather wasn't the best but myself and team coxy jnr had a great time. It's always nice to catch up with fellow cachers, both new and old.
Thanks once again for the event.

Wow, so many well-known names... and some faces I recognised. As with any well-attended event, of the many we'd love to meet, we only managed to chat with a few of the wonderful cachers that turned out to celebrate this milestone.
It was great to be able to share the celebration, lovely cake... even the interesting weather that was thrown at us. Ah, Spring in Melbourne. Thanks to the weather gods for the sound and light show.
Happy birthday, Gary, and special thanks to GJMMelb for the event, and everyone that made this such a fun afternoon for the whole family. The girls still think I'm mad, but they enjoyed meeting other lunatics and their families.

Trying to catch up finds from months ago, apologies for the belated log.
Arrived and attended in the company of coley_babee
When we arrived, the event was already in full swing.
The cachers in attendance held onto their umbrellas tightly as the weeather could turn any. moment. now.
We participated in some of the caching games, but was not able to finish them all as we started a little late due to TOO much chatting!
Coley_babee and I went off to find some of the event caches, and some of the real other ones in which we got cought out in the MASSIVE downpour on our return!
Cake was A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!! Happy birthday to Gary!
That large trackable map was pretty amazing too!
Thanks GJMMelb for this event!

My thanks to GJMMelb for all the effort in making it such a great day. The weather didn't turn out so well, but in the end it wasn't much more than a minor inconvenience. It was certainly good to also put a few more faces to names.
Can't wait for the next one.
Can't wait for the next one.
Finally logging this one. Thanks to GJMMelb (and happy birthday to the 'G' of the team) for organising a really good event. It was great to see so many folks turn up despite the weather. I had a great time finding the temporary caches and also another Hooked on Books while there (thanks for the hint...). Was also lucky enough to walk away with *FTF* I believe and a very nice ammo can / lunch box to hide somewhere soon. Once again, thanks to all involved in organising this. Lets do it again!
Went along as it was just near our old house - had a great time. Thanks for organising
The Coffee's hitched a ride in the Team Crackers mobil to this event. We arrived to find the event in full swing despite the looming clouds. Even a few downpours didnt deter the numbers and it was a great day had by all.
Our thanks to GJMMelb for the event, and some great cake (OK i did have 2 pieces), looking forward to the next.

What a great turnout! Happy Birthday G! A very excellent Cup Day to be had indeed! TFTEC & Lovely Cake!

Walked in through the drizzle slightly later than anticipated and thus met a lot of cachers heading the other way out on the temporary hunt.
Wished the birthday boy happy birthday and duly filled in the chorus along with the rest.
Great to see so many faces and meet up with more names I only know from their caches.
Spectacular thunderstorm had me edging for the trees along with Team Crackers, The Coffees and Rabbitto so we missed the main photo montage.
Thanks for another welcoming event

Was a great little event and celebration of GJMMelb's 50th birthday. We did a couple of event caches (the multi and traditional cache) which were enjoyed by all. Met some new caches and put faces to cacher's names and had identified the cachers of those sinister caching hides that they put out around Melbourne (you all know who you are). Apart from the down pour, the stroll around the park and lake was enjoyable. Thanks to GJMMelb team for the event. Thanks to Team Coxy, Snap Happy1 and GJMMelb for some caching tips. SLTN TFTC.
Happy Birthday G!!!
Very much enjoyed your event, unfortunately spent a bit too much time socialising to get all of the competition caches done!!!
Was a great event even with the rain!! Still had a ball!!!
Hope you had an awesome Geo Party!!!

What a great get together. Thanks GJMMelb for the huge effort in putting together some additional caches for the day. The weather turned a little, but hard core cachers keep persisting. TFTC.
I almost didn't make it to this event today. We arrived home from a long weekend down the beach at 2:30 and I wasn't really in the mood to head out again but I wasn't looking forward to breakfast without any bread in the house so I had to head out anyway.
Arriving late I caught up with a few familiar faces and met a few familiar names before dropping of a huge "frog" (http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga4018) and headed off as the weather was turning. As I drove home through the thunderstorm, I could only hope that it missed the park.
Thanks GJMMelb for the well organized event. Hopefully next time I'll have time to participate in the games. And happy birthday GMelb.

This was a joyful gathering framed by a majestic storm, thank you for your hard work putting this event together.
Thanks for putting on the event, thankfully the weather held off for most of it. It was good to catch up with old friends and put faces to new team names that are poping up all over the place. This was Crazy! Nat Girls first event, she has suggested we hold an event in the new year, keep your eyes open for it.
Great location, terrific turn out and the weather was reasonably cooperative, so it was a success by all measures.
Thanks so much for hosting the event, GJMMelb, and Happy Big Birthday to GMelb!!

Terrific gathering and great to meet many familiar names in person. Should have worn a bigger hat to keep my shoulders dry. Apparently there was a race somewhere?
Thanks for today.
Sorry about the weather. But as you know cachers always come prepared.
Yummy cake.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY. [:X]

Another fun event, even the rain, thunder and lightning couldn't put a dampener on proceedings. Nice to catch up with cachers new and old faces both. Happy Birthday Gary.
Thanks to GJMMelb for putting on an excellent cup day birthday party. I think everyone had a great time, despite the rain. The temporary caches put on for the day were great, I particularly liked the puzzle cache. In the end quiet1_au and ahomburg and I got together for the final few words. When we strolled over to the cache there were so many people there, no hunting was required. Picking up the traditional on the way back to the party was much the same.
As usual at an event with such a good turnout it was good to catch up with people and put names to some faces. Sounds like there are a few more puzzle caches out there I have to work on. I'm looking forward to the next event, which for me will be in Bendigo on the 12/12/12.
Thanks again GJMMelb, see you next time and happy birthday to G!!!!!

(Jen you are a great cook)
Loved the day and hope we can go another one like it soon. Thankyou to GJMMelb for a great day, despite the soggy ending.
Thanks also to Nufrat who kept us company on the cache hunts and enabled us to see just how off the co-ordinates can be on a phone GPS (not as bad as I thought but enough to potentially have us going in circles for ages). Her identification of the bird was spot on!
Lovely area, especially liked those nice tranquil spots looking right over the water, could have sat there for ages just watching the ducks.
It is so nice to meet fellow cachers and put faces to names. We have come home somewhat soaked but thoroughly happy.

My first event in 3 years, and it was well organised. Pity about the rain at exactly at the wrong time but the kids had fun. Thanks for the prizes for the kids cache, which we were FTF (I know it wasn't a race, but they were happy to put their names at 1 and 2 on the sheet!). Also a well thought out multicache and some other caches around the lake too. Good to catch up with a few people I haven't seen for ages, including Maccamob, Geodes, Rabbito and gmj3191. Also got a few captures on our team Munzee. Thanks for organising this, and I'll have to go to a few more in future.
Attended @ the appointed hour with 3 members. I was accompanied by my geocachelettes (Charlotte & JJ). We had fun finding words, traipsing around in a group to gather clues (although 'fun' and 'carrying a 5 year old on my shoulders for the lion's share of the walk' are not often synonymous) and huddling under the shelter while the rain did what rain does.
Scored a trackable as a prize (somewhat embarrassingly, I have no idea what it was for as I was outside hearing range), left trackable, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the event, activities, fun and cake GJMMelb and happy birthday to Gary.
And whilst l'm thanking... thanks to Mr Geo-Stuff, iamapom, for providing the prizes.

The rain didn't dampen the spirits much and the walk around the lake was very nice. I've never been here before and it's a great little spot. Thanks for the event and Iamapom for all the swag (is that Gangnam?)

The weather wasn't kind, but it was nice to catch up with a few friends, and to match a few faces to names. When is the next significant year event?
Very nice. Thank you very much excerpt that the temp caches where grabbed while teams where doing them where headbutting raindrops just after 4. Thank you to the organisers and the many attendees.
Took some trackables.

Found by Mary & David at 1500. A great and well-attended Event. We began meeting old caching friends in the car park, and continued for most of the afternoon. Met a lot of cachers we had only read about before too. The weather didn't want to cooperate, but there were plenty of trees umbrellas, and a roof for shelter. We enjoyed talking to people and hearing tall tales from those who attended the NZ Mega that we missed the temporary caches. We did take time out to look for "Hooked on Books 2", though, and found ourselves in a large group of Eventers at GZ. Great fun all round. Our thanks to GJMMelb, and Happy Birthday to GMelb!

After finding a couple of caches on the way I arrived on time just after 2pm.
Good seeing everybody again, and adding to my collection of alias / name / face matches.
The rain was a pity but everyone coped well.
Thanks very much to GJMMelb for the organisation and again, Happy Birthday to Gary.
I can confirm the baking worked well.
Also thanks to Carl for the prizes, none of which went my way .....
Missed The Cup but had recorded it all so spent an hour watching the horses and the girls when I got home.
Where there's a will there's a way.

We arrived just after the appointed time and just as the rain drops started. Luckily they went away for a while and we were able to walk around the lake, find the temp caches, and catch up with friends. What a good way to celebrate your 50th Gary, hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Loved the cake too..thanks for a good day.

I haven't been to many events lately but, when I saw this one scheduled quite close to home, I put it in the back of my mind to try to attend. Luckily, the stars aligned and I was free for the day so, looking forward to seeing many old friends again, I headed off. The drive was a bit ominous, with a lot of lightning flashing to the north, but the rain (mostly) stayed away for the early part of the afternoon and it was really nice to see some of those old faces again and to meet a few new ones too - although, as usual, when checking over the 'attended' logs its a surprise to see that there were so many others there that I didn't get to meet. I regret not getting around to the caches that were placed for the event, but there was a lot of talk to catch up on and the time just flew. Later in the afternoon, Listmaker, Alansee and myself did head out to get a cache on the other side of the lake - and managed to get totally soaked in the downpour that picked that time to start - great fun
I had a great time, thanks for organising the event GJMMelb and many happy returns to Gary on attaining his half-century.
Thanks also to Carl for his prize contributions - one of which I was lucky enough to win!

Attended today with Mrs Iamapom. Geostuff was the sponsor of the prizes for the event, so had to be here of course ! Happy Birthday Mr GJMMelb !! Nice location we hadn't visited before, and met some new friends including visitors from Scotland and Canada. And of course many many old faces. The weather was terrible, but it didn't spoil the fun. Thanks for organising GJMMelb.
Happy Birthday to Gary.
Thanks to the rest of the team for the event.
We have been here a few times before (one kiwideb cache springs to mind here) and it is an enjoyable area to cache. Great to catch up old friends that we haven't seen for some time and we also enjoyed hearing some tales from NZ. Met up with a newish cacher from Germany "stray cougar" who was coming here to study. The rain was not a problem because it was not cold, very pleasant.
Thanks GJMMelb for the event.

It was you wasn't it?
Seriously, a fun day had by all.
It was a great way to meet new friends and get close to one another, squeezed in under the only covered in area.
Thanks for the event.
That was a mighty fine blowtorch you had to light the candles!

First of all, happy birthday to Gary. What a fantastic event, despite the slightly inclement weather, especially during the prize draw, had a lot of fun doing the provided puzzle as well as the other temporary caches that were placed around the lake. With 70+ teams in attendance there were lots of people to catch up with and new people to meet.
A massive thanks go to the GJMMelb team for organising the event.
Oh and thanks to iamapom for the geostuff prize sponsorship.

Thank you to GJMMelb for all the planning and hard work that went into your event. We hope you had a great 50th birthday celebration, Gary. Am sure everyone had a good time even though the weather was not kind.
We were pleased to attend the event today in the company of the birthday boy Gary and the rest of the MELB crew - J & M. The world doesn't necessarily end at 50 but the thunder and lightning today sort of indicated otherwise. Always nice to catch up with all the old crew and put names to faces of some of the newer cachers as well. we were originally intending to head out for a few caches later in the day but the inclement weather made home seem the better option. Thanks for our 57th event cache from D & HA B-A.
Many thanks to GJMMelb for putting so much work into the day, with the temp caches, prizes and cake (the kids said it was delicious). This is the first event that all 5 of the team have attended and we had a great day. We enjoyed meeting many people whose names we have seen in logs and sharing some interesting stories. We will certainly be looking for more events in the future. Happy birthday Gary. TFTC.
Thanks a lot GJMMelb for this great event. I had a lot of fun with trying to work out the puzzle cache (I might borrow this idea/puzzle for a class I am teaching - I will contact the owner if this is the case) and then talked to multiple people - so much so that I missed out on actually getting to any of the temporary caches and unfortunately the weather is often beyond our control! Ah well them the breaks sometimes!
Thanks a lot Jen for the cake, Gary for having a birthday to celebrate, iamapom for the prize (even though the weather meant that I had no idea what I won it for!) and for the opportunity to catch up with some old friends and meet some new friends. I also got some hints on some other puzzle caches which is useful and will help me with my Multis and Puzzles challenge (that I am currently doing).
Thanks for the hints for Hooked on Books which I will be back another day to collect - I tried collecting the cache and was getting it all wrong so will leave that one for another day. I also managed to complete Family Orchard and also Lake Crystals ao those two caches meet my Multis and Puzzles challenge for the day.
Thanks for the event GJMMelb and for all the preparation that went into it. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for the next event if there is one more. Great day out!

The weather wasn't quite right.. but the cake was great and it was awesome to be part of such a big turn out.. a central location and Some fun caches to hunt out.. I only grabbed the one find for the day but it was great to talk about other hides and get some ideas for some new ones.. Thanks for the event.. Find # 3120

A great day (maybe except for the rain) was had meeting people and exploring a place I hadn't actually been to before.
The temporary caches were fun. Only got to find one plus half of the multi, before we became rained out.
All in all a fun afternoon.
Thanks for the great organisation! and look forward to the next one.
Last but not least, Happy Birthday Gary!

First off we wish GJMMelb a very happy birthday and thanks for the invite to help you celebrate your half century topped off by the best birthday cake we have had for a long while.
As always, even though the weather was not the kindest, we had a fantastic time catching up with old friends and meeting quite a few new teams as well as putting faces to a few names we had only read on logs. There was a lot of laughs and stories of the NZ Mega.
The extra caches seemed to be a success, although we did not participate as we were too busy talking.
Congratulations to all the prizewinners and thanks to GJMMelb for putting on the event.

Thank you very much to GJMMelb for all the planning and hard work (the delicious cake, the riddles and everything) you put into the event. I hope you had a good time.
For me it was a great thing. Actually this was my first real Event, and my second Cache in Australia. I met lots of new people and had much fun over there even if the weather wanted to annoy us.
Thanks GJMMelb and Happy Birthday Gary

Thanks for a great event GJMmelb, and an excuse for one Gmelb.
I had a great time, so apparently did all the others and we all hope you had the best. As now it is truely, all down hill.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Had a great time and luckily the rain held off for most it. Will admit it was refreshing during the prize draw. Was great to finally meet some familiar and new faces as well as put some faces to some familiar names.
Many thanks to the entire GJMMelb team for hosting this event and Gary happy birthday too, a great day.
The cake was awesome.

Catching up on logs!!! Thanks GJM for an awesome event. It was great to catch up with so many familiar faces and names at such a happy event. The temporary caches were fun, the birthday cake was yummy, the company was super and a good time was had by all. Who cares about the rain!!
Thanks to all involved. Happy Birthday Gary!

Thanks Melb's for offering a great way to spend the day. Doing what you like with others that share the same passion, at a great location. Hope enjoy your birthday Gary and looking forward to you next 50th. We had a great time meeting up with those we knew and putting faces to names we only get to view. Excellent little puzzles to keep us on our toes and to get us to see a local lake that so many of us had never been before.
Great one all round, thanks for the event

Only managed a brief early appearance before being called away suddenly, but great to meet the GJM organisation. I wanted to catch up with Mr Riddell, and the SedgewickDave / Ahomburg caching machine but sadly missed out. Did get a quick chat with LouiseAnn which was great, (and will follow up on the Zeven cache). Good to meet Nufrat too, after a long drive down from Alex - seen your name in lots of logs up there! Thanks for your effort to organise this event, am looking forward to another one soon. Happy birthday! TFTE and all the hits on my Munzee, Quasar - sorry I didn't get to scan yours too (next time!) Good to see a new Munzee scanner smrff78 !!
Another very enjoyable caching event, and a birthday bash to boost! Managed to catch up with a few older cachers as well as meeting some newer ones which is always a good thing.
Many thanks to GJMMelb for all the effort involved and of course many happy returns.

Great catching up with friends, made a few new ones, swapped a few path tags. Happy birthday G. Hope this becomes an annual event
Happy birthday Gary.
Thanks GJMMelb, great event and a lot of effort went into it. The rain did not affect the outcome. Great to put faces to names of cachers who are logging finds around my home location.
Happy hunting

What a fun afternoon, in spite of the rain. It was great to meet more Aussie cachers while here on my trip and to get to know you a bit better. Thanks for the event and happy birthday to Gary, again.
Thanks to GJMMelb for all their effort in hosting this event. It was my first event that wasn't a Flashmob so I was pleased to have time to meet many more fellow cachers. It was a spur of the moment decision to attend, but I am now so happy that I did. Thanks once again.

Oh what a fabulous day.
Arrived at 2:00 PM and the weather, whilst threatening was dry.
Chatted to so many lovely people and was made to feel very welcome -- even as a 'tourist'.
OntarioGrandma invited me to join her on the cache hunt for all the caches that had been placed for the event which I was more than happy to oblige, as my i-phone had no internet connection and was effectively useless (Judith had our GPS unit - back in Scotland).
We managed to find all of the caches and had a great time searching for them, often joined by others from the attendees.
Many thanks to the family (don't know your names) who allowed me to shelter from the torrential rain at the end of the day. That was very kind, and loved the chat wre had whilst the prizes were being drawn.
Sadly, JudithandCharlene did not win anything, but it didn't matter as a great day was had.
Thank you for a terrific event. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Happy Birthday to Gary too. The birthday cake was FAB.
Judith you would have loved the day, pity you weren't there - even though your name came up in conversation often.

Weather Forecast for tomorrow (which has actually improved heaps from what they were saying earlier!)
Melbourne area - Cloudy. Patchy rain and isolated thunderstorms clearing during the afternoon. Winds northerly 20 to 30 km/h tending northwest to southwesterly 15 to 25 km/h in the morning then becoming light in the middle of the day.
Soooooooo..... bring raincoats and umbrellas in case it's still rainy as we are planting 4 caches around the lake grounds. All closeby (with one taking you on a circuit of the lake first )
A special kids only one included with (Random Generator Chosen of Kids to complete so no need to race!) kiddie appropriate prizes!!
One slab cake baked this morning and 2 more to go
Looking forward to it!!

I look forward to finally meeting you all.

There will be three of us there tomorow. Looking forward to it. (We originally thought that we may be interstate).
Cake and I forgot to post a will attend, although we were in NZ is no excuse. Yes we will be there..lol
Sorry for the extremely late log, but Adept88 and I will be attending, we aren't expecting to get any cake though, ;D see you soon guys.
Hoped to make it but have something else on this afternoon and can't fit both in. Many happy returns to the birthday boy and hope you all have a great afternoon.
Our first event cache - it was great to meet other cachers in person, although the weather could have been nicer! MadBoy42 and I really enjoyed the temporary multicache, and the temporary Traditional was a great opportunity for me to make a fool of myself in front of other caches by completely missing the cache and replacing it.
A well organised and delicious event - I was very pleased with my prize and with the cake!

This was our first event cache. Hopefully the first of many. Misselaneius & I both enjoyed the temporary cashes & meeting other geocachers. Big thanks to the organisers.
First Mega event. WOW it was great to put faces to those name you read about all the time. Had fun with Atraversiamo and geo dog hunting the caches and completing all 3 just in the nick of time. Great to see so many turn up despite the weather ...nothing holds us geocachers down ...Thanks for the day GJMMelb and Happy birthday Garry .
