The last weekend of daylight savings - Time to head away for the weekend to the Latrobe Valley for some exploring, camping and caching with RoamingHowie.
This was our next stop on the way up to Baw Baw. RH had already found this one on a previous visit, but was kind enough to stop to let me add the smiley here. Lots of water flowing down today.
Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, ahomburg

First stop on a caching mission to Baw Baw...after signing the cache we ventured down to explore under the bridge. A much nicer view of the river to be had at ground level.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to ahomburg for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Wow what a cracker of a spot to explore scrambled down to the river as it seemed to be in full flow so much power and a spectacular view of the river

Has been some time since my trip through here. Log is soaking wet. Probably needs a real container. But awesome spot.

While on the way home took a detour to clear the area of unfound caches.
As I arrived the heavens opened for about 5mins of heavy rain. A quick find meant that my hair did not get ruined.

After a weekend of camping and then a caching event on the great alpine trail, it was time to start heading home. Perhaps via Baw Baw or some other diversion to make a long journey home even longer .
So Baw Baw it is and I decided to take the south face rd to the top. A lovely drive so far and stopped by to grab this quick cache. Plenty of water flowing under the bridge. Very peaceful.
Thanks ahomburg for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

*Cache find # 12506.*
This is one of those caches that seems as though it is in the middle of nowhere.
I have been passed both ends of this road on occasions but not along the length of it.
Today as I was heading for home I decided to take a different route which would take me passed this cache, which I did.
I arrived at the bridge and headed over to GZ and had a look around but didn't see the cache at first as it was a little covered in spider webs, once they were brushed away I could then see and retrieve the cache, the log was signed, cache replaced and I continued on my way home.
**Thanks to Baluke for placing this cache and ahomburg for keeping it in place.**

Might have been a quick drive by type cache but had to linger over the beauty of the Falls
We stopped quickly on our way up to Baw Baw today and grabbed this cache. It’s so exciting to be out and about again in regional Vic. The log was quite wet, but thankfully waterproof paper. TFTC!
found it! first cache with my friend! left some nice butterfly stickers for the next person. took us a few takes, in good condition but a little rusty so its hard to open
Tftc BaLuke. Over 18 months since I last tried and failed, but with a few hundred fonds since, I had a better sense of what to look for. So a quick find.
A lot of summer rains recently has the river well charged and roaring under the bridge. I supervised the geotech drilling at this site, before there was a bridge. I recall a long trip around d via Christmas Ck Road to get from the South to the North Bank to drill the required investigation bores.

We returned today to finish off the tracks that we had not finished the day before. Great scenery and views from this area, along with a very warm summer’s day.
Cache and contents in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Today I was heading up to Mt Baw Baw to find some caches and stopped by for my first find for the day. TFTC
After attending an event in Walhalla, we decided` to make our way up to this area to pick up a few more caches. After pulling up to GZ we soon made the quick find. Once we placed the cache back, we then took the time to admire the views from the bridge...just amazing. TFTC BaLuke
Thank you for the cache.
We enjoyed the views from the bridge on the way to Mt Baw Baw from Erica,
However realised that there was a cache at the site about 5 kms down the road, and found it on the way back.
Beautiful spot. A favourite from us.

Day 2 on our caching mini break. A beautiful sunny day and a magic spot, our first visit to Walhalla. Great flow of water today such a spectacular scene thanks for bringing us here. Tftc
Easy as first place l looked water was flowing well today and good views... TFTC baluke
Thank you to the people who left the geocache we found this geocache on the 12th of April 2018 and we found it on our way back from mt bawbaw to Rawson. From the Forshaw family. Ella, Cooper, Kaitlyn and Felicity
Potential embarrassment here if I've missed it, given the last find was a first of. Anyway! Magnetic: mmmm. Found the plaque, known and worked for the man himself on the geotech investigation for this bridge some 10 or so years ago. Scoured the entire guard rail, traffic signs, and also dropped down under the bridge, wandered to the other end, until finally stopped by the presence some of the MTB riders who'd been up at Baw Baw today for a big event. Next time maybe
Good old Len. Though I wonder why his relatively recently installed plaque requires an extra protective layer! A controversial dedication perhaps? Not universally popular in road engineering circles? I fear I'll never know. Buhfuhguh had this one pretty much sorted before I could even get my dormant device up to speed. Yay for efficiency! And for ridiculous volumes of unloved days accumulating on drivebys on major thoroughfares! Weird. Thanks once more BaLuke!
Ah what a day, another planned trip with Bendsinister up towards Mt Baw Baw, but also this time we aim to collect some unlove (even replacing an old nutcache cache) and also to pick up some of the Rockwiz series and the odd traditional along the way. So off we went meeting at Cranbourne for our journey for the day.
And after grabbing most of the caches we aimed to find for the day, only having one or two dnf's on the day as a whole we headed back home after dark decideding to taking the way home via moe to grab a couple puzzles that we both had been working on.
Anyways sorry for the generic log. But thanks for the cache and the lovely day out today.

Sorry for late log. What a beautiful spot. Took the time to take a few shots of the falls. A nice quick find coming down the mountain. Tyftc
This was an easy cache to find and there was no passing traffic at the time we were there. All was done as is needed and the cache was then replaced to wait for the next finder. Many thanks to baluke for this cache placement.
Heading home from the Aberfeldy/Toombon area and decided to take the South Face Road and head for Noojee and the Trestle Bridge and Toorongo Falls. We'd already driven past several caches and not stopped, then decided to get a few to end off 2016 with, so we stopped here for this cache.
A quick easy find here, thanks baluke.

Thanks so much for placing and maintaining a cache here I wouldn't have stopped otherwise.

Woohoo! On our way to Mt Baw Baw for a well deserved break. First time we've taken the South Face road. Thanks for making us stop along this spot for its beauty TFTC
Yep, we found it. I initially overlooked the container but eventually geostepdaughter recognized it for what it is.
A quick stop for some fresh air before the windy climb to the baw baw summit. A quick and easy cache before a family week at the snow!
Childish, I know, but I bet he copped heaps when at school. At bit like naming the flyover near Berwick after Ernst Wanke who was a Doctor of Dentistry and lived around the area (Harkaway) in the 1850's. For those interested, it's pronounced "Wan-kee" which provides a different emphasis in the pronunciation then the more mischievous one would. What's this got to do with the cache, you may ask, other than being on a bridge bearing the subject name? Nothing!

The day was getting on but I decided to keep going along this road for this one. That is some bridge!
We were on our way from Baw Baw to Rawson, and being amazed at how different this road was the last time we drove along it about 6 years ago, back then there wasn't a single tree obstructing the view for the entire length, they were only little ankle high shrubs, but now you can't see a thing.
So we ground to halt, with all the tyres still pumped up, and jumped out for a bit of a look, the Queen put a fair bit of effort into looking for this one and Dad felt a bit sorry for her when he just walked up and plucked it from its hidey hole, then we signed the paperwork and went over to the bridge for a look at the babbling brook...very picturesque.
Thanks baluke for making us stop and smell the roses.

Stopped by here and had a look over the edge - beautiful magnificent spot.
Place like this needs a cache! Grabbed a cache out the perfectly suited the terrain - placed it under the bridge. Done, named, will publish when home.
Took off down the road...now where is the next cache...here?!!?!
Oops - must have missed that! Went back, retrieved my cache, signed the log.
Beautiful spot for a cache

One half of the tritonz had to work so the other half along with Jacko83, Jag2612 and Quasar3671 set out on a mission to do the Baw Baw series. We spotted this beautiful spot on a the way past and had to stop and chaco it out. It was a amazing view and the water was flowing very nice here today, Thanks baluke for showing us this spot and placing a cache here.
Found with geo hubby on a day out. Awesome spot that he wanted to show me, and there happened to be a cache here too. Bonus! TFTC

We're camping at Rawson is our little reborn caravan and sight seeing and caching in the area.
This was number 1 of 10 for the day.
On the way from Rawson to Baw Baw, we stopped to find this one.
It was a bit foggy but the view from the bridge was very scenic, with the mountain stream tumbling down through the large rocks and ferns.
A fav point for sure.

A brutal bridge over a very attractive river. The camo tricked me on my first inspection but I came back to it. Thanks for the cache.
I'm loving my weekend at Mt Baw Baw. This morning I did an orienteering event but the afternoon was time for geocaching. Paused here for a quick find. Mighty bridge over an attractive river.
After a bit of a last minute decision, we decided to head to Mt Baw Baw for an overnite caching trip. This was our first for the day at 12.30pm. Great view from bridge and lots of water underneath us. Cache well disguised. Thanks for the cache baluke.
A quick drive-by after having spent 2 days on the mountain completing the Wab Wab series. We didn't see these beauitiful falls on the way up. TFTC baluke
After a couple of days on Mt Baw Baw with TheGGGs picked up this nice drive by on the way home. A great view of the river was worth the stop. Thanks BaLuke FTC.
Knocked off early again from work due to the weather. So decided to head out for a drive to Mt Bawbaw and collect caches along the way.
This was our first stop and a great one it was. Had it not been for the cache we would have missed the falls all together. I love how Geocaching brings you to locations you would normally miss

Find #1179. Found @ 11:05 with LouiseAnn and -nirgal-.
We had a grand adventure planned for the day, but it started out a little rocky with wrong turn (my bad), but it did lead us to this cache.
A quick find, and then an about turn and we were back on track (but behind schedule).
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache BaLuke.

Last weekend, a couple of fellow cachers and I had planned a short caching run. Two of us managed to put a small dent in our outstanding Jasmer months, but the dreaded lurgy had kept the third from joining us. Plans for a more ambitious weekend were hatched, however, concentrating on more obscure difficulty/terrain combinations. As SirJ-Oz had spent countless hours on some curly puzzles in Gippsland, LouiseAnn and I were happy to help out with transport, company and moral support.
21 smileys between 8am and 5 the next morning might not seem much, but today was a matter of "quality over quantity", and it was actually refreshing to have to exercise the discipline necessary to pass so many other hides without stopping. Those can wait for the next adventure. And it was quite an adventure... a hike to the highest altitude I've cached so far, kayaking in the middle of a country town, and a sunset stroll along the beach. Plus no shortage of laughs.
Our first target was up Mt. Erica, but the GPSr had other ideas, sending us west from the road to the Thompson Dam a tad early.
This wasn't where we were intending to head, but at least before we turned back east to get back on track, we got a smiley. Well worth it for the fun drive, the cache and the scenery.
Thanks, baluke.

We picked this cache up, at 11:06am. -nirgal-, SirJ-Oz and I thought we were going the right way to our first challenge of the day, but it turned out we weren't. The 10km up (and back) long this road might have been a bit of a waste of time for the overall plan, but we did get this cache out of it, so alls well that ends well. Thanks for the cache baluke.
We had a massive day today, I got going from home at a bit after 8am with -nirgal-, we picked up SirJ-Oz soon after then 21 caches later, I returned home at 4:30am..... oh yes we visited Mt Baw Baw, Sale and Lakes Entrance inbetween.

Quick find on the way to Baw Baw. The bridge was cold today, but no sight of snow most of the way up the mountain. Our first attempt at signing the log was foiled by the pen refusing to write in the cold. Luckily there was another pen on hand. TFTC
quick drive by weird i dont think concrete bridges are meant to bounce but we all fel this one move quite scary when you are looking down at the time tftc baluke great view of the creek from here
nice quick find
boys were not too sure about the bridge
concrete should not move apparently
this one had a lot of flex when jumping back and forth

Well, I had been given approval for five days of annual leave, so I had to make a decision on what to do with it. I had noticed the Abandoned Railway series published late last year, so I decided to head towards Moondarra State park and then Mount Baw Baw for four or five days.
Today was day three of my adventure and ended up being my last due to some nearby fires, I didnt want to get stuck, so just a few more caches then. This was the first of the day, it took me quite a while to find, i actually touched it early on not realising it. I eventually worked it out, great hide.
Thanks to baluke for the cache.

*FTF* - The TDC (Quasar3671, Blacklegend & TrailRunning) spent the early evening gathering caches in the bayside area, before heading west to collect some caches out far west. While the night was not the high numbers the crew are generally used to, the quality of the night was excellent. The night was highlighted by an unexpected FTF out near Baw Baw.
A nice windy drive for a lonely *FTF*. TFTC.

Myself and fellow TDC crew (Blacklegend and Trailrunning) hit the road tonight for a caching road trip that had us starting in Cheltenham and at the end of the run, we were walking the tracks at Mt Baw Baw. With a goal set for the night and many kilometers to travel, we had a plenty of time to chat about caching and life in general. Once again the weather was good, even though cool, a great night to be out and about.
Numbers were small tonight but the kilometers travelled were many, and we did managed to find our main target and even a nice FTF during our adventures as well. We had a great time in an area none of us had been too before and we are sure to return to during a future run to find some more caches there.
When planning the trip for the night I noticed this cache as unfound and put it on the list as a must do. The South Face Road leading to the cache, although unsurfaced is a nice smooth drive and quite enjoyable. I'm going to have to come back one day and make the trip all the way through to Rawson. We stopped here for a break before staring the long journey back home.
Great views along the way. Thanks for the hide.

*FTF* Another night caching run by the TDC - The Demolition Crew (Quasar3671, Trailrunning and myself). Not a huge total of caches tonight, but a mission with a purpose, anyhow, with the low number of caches, came a large amount of chat, jokes and great conversation in the car. The trip was more of a road trip, taking us from Melbourne to Baw Baw and back. Nice.
Found on the way back from Baw Baw. Nice and easy, but a FTF none the less. TFTC.
