In some of my forays up into the high desert, I've encountered some Pickles4 caches. They been fairly enjoyable to find. I have yet to meet them, but I figure eventually, I'll bump into them somewhere, probably at a high desert event. I think I just need to get on someone's mailing for events up there. I have been to a couple up there, but probably not enough to meet all the fine cachers up there.
Thanks for the hide.
Thanks for the hide.
The Desert Rats Caching Crew has hit some more of the Southern California desert today for another caching adventure. Today we had plans to find enough caches to bring two of the members to the 20.000 cache finds level. We managed to find two of the piece of art in the desert and after that we only needed another 50 caches or so to get to that level. As it turned out we made the number around 4:00 or so and then got caught up in some of the L.A. traffic. I would like to thank all of the cachers that took the time and effort to place all of the caches we found while in the area. Thanks.
The DRCC (Desert Rats Cache Crew - myself, Marbleguy, and Wawindaji) Have come west from CT. Another day in the deserts of Barstow. Today we concentrated on the planes, trains and automobile geo art along with the R.V. geo art and a few short trails. The weather was good for walking the art with temps nto the low 80 and enough cloud cover to keep us from working up a sweat or get sun burned. Thanks to the cache owners for placing the caches for us to find.
So today was Day 7 of the “Desert Rats Caching Crew” (DRCC) caching Expedition to California and Nevada.
The crew consists or MarbleGuy, Firefighter Skippy and I (wawindaji).
Today we started out late with a very specific numbers target to achieve. So for the second day we cached in the Barstow CA, area. There we concentrated on the Peace sign and RV geo-art, as well as the Wandering Hero’s series. Once we had got the number we needed it was back to San Bernardino, CA to pick up one specific cache, GCGJ53 “Original McDonalds – McToy Museum”. This cache is significant to The Desert Rats as it will be logged as; my 15,000th cache, Marbleguy’s 20,000th cache and Firefighter Skippy’s 20,000th cache. So the Expedition goal has been achieved.
Tomorrow the Desert Rats will return on the red eye back to CT, however no doubt we will use the time we still have left in CA to grab some more caches. What else would we do???
Yet another awesome day of caching.
As usual I will not discuss the specifics of any cache so as to ensure those that follow may enjoy the experience.
Logs were signed either, DRCC or Desert Rats Caching Crew, depending on space available.
Many thanks to all cache owners for placing and maintaining these caches.

Great idea for a series, there were a couple real surprises along the way....don't want to give anything away (or embarrass myself!!!) The variety added to the fun. Thanks for placing these.
How can a geocacher in this area not go into the desert to hunt caches. Well, there is a need for urban cachers and it is great that there are opportunities for everybody in geocaching. Thanks for sharing ThePickles4 with us. J & K
