Day 8 of my interstate trip. Today I left Donald heading south towards Ballarat but only made it as far as Maryborogh where I set camp up for the night. I managed to find 54 caches today and 2 DNF's today.A quick find. I even spotted a few people from home in the log as well.TFTC nibby8
A short walk past the birdcage and I was soon at GZ where the cache was quickly found. The log was quite damp but still signable. There is a slight tinge of green on the golf course now which is good.Thanks.
Spending a bit of extra time in and around St Arnaud with ilook4geo and started on the caching list for the day with overcast weather. Found a good selection and each found log was signed to note our visit. This was a nice quick and easy find and nibby8 gets our thanks for placing this cache.
Out for some more caching fun around St Arnaud today with goingplaces2 and happy to add this cache as a smiley on the map. No problem with this cache. TFTC.
*Found on the 5 Nov 2023 @ 3:05pm.**Cache find # 15334.* Out and about with biggles1024 for the weekend in St Arnaud. After completing the Eucy drive earlier on and a couple of other small series, it was time to clean up the odds and bods in the area that we hadn't been to on previous visits, this cache was one of them.**Thanks to nibby8 for keeping the game going by placing this cache.**
**05/11/2023, 15:06:00****Find #5600****Traditional Find #3345**Day number two of our third trip to St. Arnaud. This morning's task was to finish the Eucy drive series but first a few other local caches. The weather was fine but the wind was perishingly cold early on.**Thank-you to nibby8 for placing this geocache**
Cache found and log signed with dalerious on a what turned out to be a quick trip to St Arnaud. We were meant to stay overnight, but all accommodation was booked out because of the gallops.Never mind. We got everything done that we had plan to do for this weekend, so all was well. All was well with this cache also, so thank you nibby8 for providing it for us to find .
FORE! Well..... actually...... ONE! Having spent all day chauffeuring catnap777 around a series that I had signed before the Mega, visited at 4:30pm, this trad at the golf course was the first ONE that I got to write my name in too. TFTC nibby8.
We spent a about 10 days on the road with aqau caching around St Arnaud, Ballarat and Daylesford areas. Stayed in the nearby caravan park. Sorry for the late log.
Thanks for your cache.

Easy find, log book soaked so I added a few sheets in a new zip lock bag,,, TNLN TFTC
I found GC3TTXP St Arnaud Golf Course on 20 Sept 2022 at 8:00 am and it is find number 1,889 for me. I enjoyed finding this nice traditional cache as part of my tour of the St Arnaud area.
I apologise for this generic log today but i have set myself a twenty four hour challenge to see how many caches I can log and time is of the essence. This is the first time i have challenged myself this way and it will be interesting to see how I go and how far I get. My first targets are the St Arnaud star geoart mystery series which i have had solved and waiting for some time. it will be nice to see a bunch of smiley stars on my map. Once I have completed logging those I intend to find traditional caches along the numerous trails in and around St Arnaud itself. Depending on how far I get I may then need to find caches slightly further afield. There's are certainly plenty to choose from in the area.
Alternatively I may decide its all too much and have a snooze in my tent instead. Wish me luck and thanks to all the owners for the lovely caches I am finding today.
Thanks for St Arnaud Golf Course and for the fun nibby8.

Quick grab but will need to think about getting back up the new bitumen ridge

Today we are back in St Arnaud for what before COVID took hold was meant to be a weekend of dancing. Many of us decided to come anyhow. As geocachers it was a no brainer. So this weekend is a chance to find a few more around town. This was our first for the day a quick easy find. TFTC
Found while visiting the area after Melbourne's lock down was lifted. No issues here. Tftc
Lovely day for a drive, and a picnic, we headed to this beautiful area to see if we could add a few more smiles, TFTC and all the fun
Our last for the day after a long day of travelling from NE Victoria to St Arnaud. We have found a total of 30 caches for the day including some of the StARS series which we didn’t get time for last November at the Mega. Here for the AFL long weekend, from one regional area to another. SL at 5.47pm Left: gold eagle pathtag. The cache container was a little damp, so could use some TLC from the owner. #7196 TFTC nibby8
A quick find on my way to complete the Stars series. This cache is very wet and needs attention.
Hi there nibby8.
We found your cache **"St Arnaud Golf Course"** today. (This makes our find count 24401).
Today we headed out from St Arnaud so we could attempt the last of the "StARS" series- but we also had to find this one. As it's not part of the series it deserves a finely crafted log, not one of the crappy cut-n-paste ones that usually are associated with power trails.
We found 31 caches today & DNF'd 0. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Picked this one up on our way to meet 2beez. Quick rest stop to let geopups stretch their legs.
LL made the quick find without any GPS. Log book damp.

Out caching with rusty0316 so we logged as "hr".
A lovely day for caching except for the bothersome flies.
An easy park and grab. Fortunately there were no long drives to interrupt our activity.

The St. Arnaud Event 2019... Postscript.
The Challenge caches yesterday made a good practice run for today's objective: the StARS.
So, good-byes to a few friends still staying at the Mega site, and the fun began.
This was the first find for the day on the way out of town.
Thanks, nibby8

19,588. Found with minniek during our epic visit to the St. Arnaud region for the 2019 Victorian Mega Event. Today we teamed up with ZimbaW, Miz Wacket (ZMMF or FMMZ) and the Geohounds for the Challenges and the Stars series.
Day 3 - After breakfast and relocating our campsite we hit the trail with Zimba and Miz Wacket. After finishing off the challenges we continued on with the Stars series plus any bonus caches along the way. This was a neat cache to find. Quick find at GZ. Log was signed, cache replaced and it was off to the next one.
Thanks nibby8 !!

After an exhausting weekend at the Mega we had a day off today before taking the shop back to Geostuff HQ in the lovely Barossa tomorrow! We ventured out to do some caching with hevwalker. A nice quick find on a beautiful caching day. TFTC
Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the Mega event.
FeatherWaite, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday, taking a circuitous, but scenic route to St Arnaud to pick up a few caches in some other Victorian LGAs. We met up with Freddo and Davidwazza at the event that evening and teamed up to complete a couple more caches that night together before camping out of town.
Over the next three days we cached very solidly in and around St Arnaud, finding a diverse range of Traditional, Multi, Unknown, Virtual, Letterbox, Wherigo and Earthcaches as well as attending all the events associated with the Mega. We also managed to complete all the Lab caches over the weekend. Logbooks were signed D.E.F.F.98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo and gridge98).
On the Sunday afternoon, after the final GIFF event, FeatherWaite and I began making our way back to Adelaide, picking up a couple of caches before camping in the Little Desert NP. The following day we continued towards home with a side visit to Mount Rescue to pick up a few caches along the tracks there.
Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches. They included a huge variety of containers, hides and puzzles, many of which were very clever and/or amusing and had obviously taken considerable time and effort to construct. Thanks also to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. I’ll be looking forward to the Mega at Millicent in South Australia next Easter!

Found on the trails.
Twelve months ago as we finished the Parkville Mega we were advised by someone that the next Victorian Mega event would be held in Saint Arnold. Somebody else told us that the Mega event would be held in Saint Arnood. And then another said that Saint Arned was the Mega event venue. Who should I believe? Struggling to understand the English language at the best of time. Freddo speaks two languages, Australian and Bad English.
Move forward a year. There is a cluster of events, including a MEGA event, at this town called St Arnaud burning a hole in my GPSr. The big white Pay Hero is loaded with GPSr, TOTT and camping gear and we headed east with a collaboration of like minded South Australian colleagues. DavidWazza, e.gregory1, Featherwaite, freddo and Gridge98 make team DEFF98.
Thursday: 5am event at a bakery in North Adelaide. The bed wetter team meets and says that this is way too early. Travel 500km east for the Thursday evening event. Freddo gets a prize. I am no mug. Camping in the bush under the stars.
Friday: Up early and headed out on the trails. And then back to our campground for a CITO! I am sure we did not make that much mess last night. More trails and 200 caches find for the day including a cluster of caches where freddo left DNA. More bush camping after a great meal in the Sporting Club.
Saturday: Up early for an event. Who puts an event on at 8am. Damn South Australians that’s who. After the event it was back on the trails and the Pay Hero is getting dustier and dustier. Found some awesome caches. Freddo the metallurgist was very impressed with the welding. Quality fabrication. And then another CITO. This time at the dump. Plenty of rubbish here. Some of it good stuff. Can I take some home? And finally a giant queue for a free meal. Nothing attracts a crowd like a free meal. The moment of the evening was receiving a Hall of Fame nomination. That prize is going straight to the pool room.
Sunday: Another night camping in the bush. Some fabulous night caches walks were undertaken. Night caching is a special form of entertainment. We spent the day cruising around picking up the left over unfound caches and meeting heaps of new friends. Boycotted the GIFF event since it did not show the freddo film “Cache Confusion” https://vimeo.com/372568752. One minute and forty four seconds of your life you won’t get back. A quick speech and it was back on the road for home. Well Horsham. More camping. This time by a river.
Monday: Caches around Horsham and following the Duke’s Highway back to Adelaide. Time for a shower for this smelly geocacher. An exhausted chocolate frog slept well.
We came, we cached, we ate, we slept; repeat for five days of fun and dust.
Easter 2020 sees South Australia hosting the next Easter big MEGA event, GeoVenture 2020 at Millicent. GC82DAN. Check it out. We would love to see you there.

We teamed up with Rapidlywild and headed down from Canberra for another Geocaching Victoria Mega. We arrived at our accommodation in Bendigo on Friday afternoon / evening and checked out a few caches in the area before retiring for the evening. On Saturday morning, we had a pleasant drive across to St Arnaud, arriving at the event as the opening ceremony was wrapping up, and the lab caches were released, so we joined the frenzy with the masses solving the cleverly constructed lab caches.
Sunday, day two of our mega weekend we headed over to St Arnaud to tackle some of the fire trails, and what ever else we came across along the way. After tackling the FT trail and the Loop Trail and surrounds, we collected the few extras around town, this was on the list.

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the 2019 Victorian Mega event. The weekend was spent primarily with e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98 as we geocached around the vicinity of St Arnaud. All of the events and CITOs were attended, we completed the available adventure labs and lab caches available at the showgrounds, many of the creative trails were gasped at their construction, and interesting puzzles were solved and collected during the weekend.
We all left on Thursday in two separate cars, and met up at the evening event, before finding a camp spot for the night in a very CITO location. On Friday, we targeted the StARS (St Arnaud Ramble Series) and the higher quality, well-constructed geocaches that were famous here in St Arnaud, and got lucky with the 2019 published series that we managed to snag FTFs on. Sunday had us continuing to find the other sets of high-quality caches around the neighbouring town parks, the challenge series, before spending a few hours at geocaching HQ participating in the labs that had been published. The event was also great to see some of the South Australians honoured with geocaching life awards (in amongst everyone on the list). Our final day, Sunday, had us do a big loop finishing off our geocache collection, driving all the way out to Kooreh and around via Stuart Mill, walking the conservation park at Mount Gowar, and finishing off at the GIFF event. A massive weekend that turned out to be a great mega! Thanks to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. The variety between the local high-quality caches, the new series placed by the mega team, and those who needed to be around for the labs and main centre fielding questions was appreciated immensely.
Today with our final day in St Arnaud, we went east and south focusing on some of the *Original Road* series, and the various geocaches that were placed along these routes. Once we did a loop through Stuart Mill, we did a final drive around the town vicinity finding caches, including this one. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache. The logbook was signed as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98).

Found as part of our trip to the St Arnaud Mega event. On Day 1, e.gregory1, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday morning, straight after the Earlybirds event in North Adelaide. We travelled a long and circuitous route via Bordertown, Nhil and Warracknabeal to find caches in 5 additional Victorian LGAs that I had yet to visit (namely Buloke, Loddon, [Greater Bendigo - I’d previously visited], Mt Alexander, Hepburn and Central Goldfields). On Days 2-4 we met up with Freddo and Davidwazza. As a group we systematically completed each of the many series around St Arnaud and found all other caches along the way, signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, Featherwaite and gridge98), as well as attending the events and completing the Lab caches. After the Mega, e.gregory1 and I headed back to Adelaide camping out in Little Desert NP overnight. On Day 5 we had intended picking up caches around Mundulla and Mount Monster but a last minute change of plans saw us head into Ngarkat CP instead, for a solid drive and a few extra rewarding cache finds. Many thanks to all the cache owners for placing the huge variety of caches around St Arnaud and to all those who organised the Mega and the fantastic weekend away. Thanks for the cache nibby8!
It's that time of the year again, Victorian Mega time, so its off to St Arnaud for myself and the ladies of FurfacesLL. A long road trip ahead, heading off Friday morning and getting home late Monday night and a fun filled weekend. We found many caches of all kinds of variety.. Trads, Multis, Puzzles, EC's, Virtuals, Letterboxes, Wherigos, Events, Cito's and of course, the Mega itself. We enjoyed the weekend and there sure are some unique caches here in St Arnaud, we still have plenty left to collect, so may need to coordinate another trip this way some time.
Sunday is here, after a massive day yesterday doing the StARS trails, the Challenge trails, the CITO, Events and Lab caches. Today we decided to head out to try some of the Fire Trail trails and we were not disappointed.
After finishing the FBT trail, we moved over to the Loop Track trail. Must admit, was pretty impressed with some of the containers along this one, dropping a few FP's [^] Apologies for generic logs, with over 300 to log, it all becomes a blurr after a while
Thanks for the hide nibby8 And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another amazing trip away

This morning woke up and set off to find some more caches and clean up the last few in the town, stopped by this cache for a quick find
What a big trip this was! I headed over to St Arnaud for the 2019 Victorian mega with e.gregory1, Davidwazza, Featherwaite and Freddo for the long weekend.
The weekend was filled with a lot of finds ranging in puzzles, a few events and some very well constructed hides around the area.
Day 1: I headed over with e.gregory1 and featherwaite, with the aim to collect some unfound LGAs for the guys, with only a 500km drive to the mega from home we added an extra 450km to the trip by going over to Bendigo and further south exploring some regional towns, overall we added an extra 6 LGAs with only 18 finds for the day. Was great to see some of the interesting little towns and what they had to offer for future visits.
Day 2: As a group we hit the trails in St Arnaud as a group signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, featherwaite and gridge98) to save a lot of room in the logbook. We started off with the geoart Stars and thought it would take most of the day, as we finished it in 2.5 hours we were a bit surprised so hit the well constructed caches in the south of the town in the bush throwing a CITO in the mix. All the caches were amazing and something you don’t see anywhere else. Adding in 15 FTFs along the way with: everlasting, crank1 and Pwola. The evening settled in and we headed into town for a buffet dinner and a catch up with some familiar faces.
Day 3:
After attending the GV2020 event for the morning we set off to hit the last of the trails left in town of the metal containers, followed by the challenges for the mega as well as quite a few trads around the back roads. We ended the day by having a go at the lab caches at the mega then off to the CITO. I don't think I have ever seen so mant people at a tip before. Topped off the day with an evening event.
Day 4: By today the town was almost cleaned out and only a few caches to find, so we did the last few caches within a rough 15km radius driving around finding the odd cache here and there. The GIFF was finished off the mega so we decided to head to Horsham for the evening.
Day 5: After leaving our camp site for the morning, we cached for the morning around Horsham collecting a few grads and a well earned swim. Then made the long drive back home to Adelaide.
Thanks to all the COs for their cache placements and the Geocaching Victoria crew for organising a fantastic weekend away.

Day 6 of our epic trek to the St Arnaud Mega via Geelong. As you do.
The constant was my travel companion for the entire trip, - Anymules. but we were joined by almost local cacher Bushfire for a lot of the escapades
Today it was the last day of caching our way back over to St. Arnaud from Bendigo. We took a very slow and circuitous route finding numerous caches along the way. In fact it took unstill just after lunch until we caught up with Bushfire to head out to find the StARS series. A very quick find along the way.
**Thanks nibby8 for this cache. **

Found while in the area for Mega Event with Darby&Joan. We came from New Zealand to see a bit of Australian dusty gravel roads. It was great fun to find this cache and we enjoyed! Log signed as TMTGNZ2019 Thanks for nice and handy placements and we appreciate your efforts to keep it alive! TFTC!
We are over from Auckland, NZ to attend the St Arnaud Event 2019. Today is a chance to explore the area and attend event. We now had a fellow Auckland cacher "Tramyard" with us. We chose to sign the logs TMGTNZ for our new geotour and help save space on the logbooks. This is our last one today with our buddy Tramyard. We have had an awesome afternoon. SL. TFTC.

#3672 Mr BGF used to play golf (he will return to it one day). Circa 2005 or 06, Mr BGF played in the St Arnaud 36 hole tournament. The first 18 holes in the morning was the best round he ever had, finishing with +1 off the stick after a double bogey on the last after placing his second shot on the Bowls Green!! and having to take a penalty, GRRRR! The afternoon round was solid but unfortunately not quite enough to take the win. Still a great memory to have of St Arnaud. A nice quick find of the cache here. TFTC nibby8
Stopped by for a quick find on the way to the StARS.

Logged as GAKS to represent our little team for the day. Found whilst at my first Mega Event in St Arnaud. Loved trecking around this beautiful area. Thank you for all your effort, it was so much fun!
We were out and about during the St Arnaud Mega Event and had the fun of finding this cache, thanks for placing it here for us to find. TFTC
One of the many we found while attending the Mega with my family. Thanks to the cache owners and the organisers of the well organised event. Orange ribbons and flags everywhere made it a very colourful area. The roads we travelled and caches we found were well maintained and I am already planning another trip to come back for the rest. Huh? There was a Golf Course? Obviously I'm getting tired by this time!
Joined up with caching friends for the afternoon to deal to some of these Star series. Signed logbook as JARK.
Today we were out to complete the Stars geoart and any traditionals along the same roads. We caches as Team JARC- joojoo57, Aussie Liahona, Richmond Lad and KCN.
Had a wonderful day along these country roads - inspiring rural scenery!
Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches for us to enjoy finding.

In and around St. Arnaud today and met up with JooJoo57 and RichmondLad for the beginning of our quest to find caches around St. Arnaud while here for the very successful MEGA Event. We were impressed with the high level of maintenance on all the geocaches in the area and the great facilities at the headquarters for the event. Obviously such great preparation by all concerned.
This cache is one we found today and very thankfully signed the log. Many thanks to nibby8 for placing it and maintaining it. Caches found today signed as Team JAR.
Cheers and happy caching!
