On my way to Melbourne via Mansfield and stopping off at every drive-by on the way!

Another stop on the wrong side of the road for me, but the stopping area was very handy.

A quick stroll to GZ and the neat hide was located.

For some school holiday fun, I took new geocacher, Elliekay, and our five boys out for a few hours of caching in the Yarra Valley. It was a glorious sunny, hazy autumn day, perfect for geocaching and a picnic. The boys all took it in turns with our phones (love the Geocaching app!), and each of them found different caches. I had not taken any swaps, but the new kids loved the idea of swapping things, so we were raiding both cars to find things worth leaving behind. Thanks to everyone who has hidden caches out here - it was the perfect excuse to get five pre- and teenage boys out from behind their computers.

As the youngest geokid has a Ned Kelly assignment for school we decided on a geocaching trip to Ned Kelly country so she could get as sense of where it all took place. We took off for the day with Earthbounds for some caching fun. Parked right at GZ, love having 4x4's. TFTC.

06-Apr-13
Found in the company of the Walenators on our Ned Kelly Discovery day heading up into the hills. We have tried for this one before but were thwarted by a massive spider which prompted us to give up! Today the Chief had his hands on the prize very quickly and without upsetting any of the residents. TFTC, liked e container!

This one took a bit longer than it should have because its a great cache in a great spot, but once the light went on in my head I had it quickly in my hand.THanks Wal-len SL

Found this one today. Thanks a lot Wal-len for making it a bit easier to get this one. I hadn't been in the area for a while but decided that coming here on Good Friday would make it possible to get this one and it did. Signed log but didn't swap anything. I have seen the light literally both in terms of caching and in knowing Jesus as the Light of the World.

Thanks for the cache Wal-len.

Search was a bit longer that i was hoping until Whyt Knight who had been here before narrowed the search for me and using the iphone camera was able to locate the well concealed hide. TFTC

I was going to place one like this in my area too, may still do so as it makes a great weatherproof container.

16-Feb-13
Out caching just past Lilydale while Dianne was getting her hair done.
I parked near the school under the trees as it was a hot day and walked back to the cache.
I was wondering where this cache would be based on the name, at one point I thought it must be on the school speed limit sign as there is a light, but GZ was a long way from that sign.
I found the light easily as I saw the ring it was hanging on.

Find #9 for the day... Big Grin

Out & about with my sister-in-law, Happy Pants (Mrs) whilst collecting some caches around the area prior to attending Spladem's 1000 Event @ Balwyn... This was one of them...

Stopped by and made the find in this aptly named cache hide...

Took: Nothing Left: Nothing Signed Log

Thanks Wal-len for bringing me here... Cool

Travelling pass I pulled across and from ample shade to park in before looking for cache. The first place I searched revielled the cache hanging on tool and so removed signed and replaced. It was harder to get back across the road with the cars travelling fast over the crest of the hill.

found with Anne Therese, took a while was in the right spot ,bit short retreving item was pushed too far in , good one but TY Wal-len

27-Jan-13
Found it with Niftynevau. This one took us awhile as the GPS took us to the spot but be could not actually see anything or feel anything. Not to be daunted, Nifty scrambled up to take a peek and there it was pushed a fair way in. Wtih a great effort the cache was finally in our hands and we certainly saw the light. Replaced cache but not so far down. TFTC

Located the cache today but was not physically able to retrieve the cache. I will be back with some cache retrieval tools at a later stage - cache was pushed in too far for even my long fingers to retrieve.

Ah, birthday leave... is there anything better? Smile

As such alpha male and female were on their way up to the Yarra Valley for a lovely quiet lunch at one of the wineries - But there was just enough time to grab a quick drive-by cache on the way. This one fitted the bill nicely, and was a quick park and grab (with alpha female remaining in the car, citing her high heels as an excuse), with a nice little surprise when I spotted what looked like a standard bison but turned out not to be!

TFTC Wal-len.

Found this one today with Landau351 on our unplanned caching loop around the Yarra Valley and Yarra Ranges. Landau351 insisted on jumping our of the Landrover about 80m away. I know not why. But I drove it on the grass right to GZ. Container was poking out. Was not heavy - very light actually. TFTC

20 October 2012 19:21 Carl and I are off on a nice day caching with wonderful this weather. I nice east run through the Lilydale-Wandin area. I hopped out a bit early and once my GPS settled I followed Carl to GZ. I arrived as he had gotten out and after a few moments had the cache in hand. A very appropriate cache and it should even be waterproof. TFTC Wal-len TNLN SL

#1278 3rd of 9 for an afternoon's caching on a beautiful Spring day. Another short walk appreciated by our geodog (he's a bit old now for long walks). Interesting container! Back in the car and about to leave when another 'suspicious' looking car pulled up and we watched as the occupant headed to the area we had just vacated! Had a quick catch-up with Geodes who had just come from nearby caches we were now headed to. Thanks Wal-len.

22-Sep-12
Found at 1:20 PM GAFF1 in the company of Rebel Acts & geoge. It is turning into a lovely spring day and the hills around here are just wonderful. Haven't seen this type of container for a very long time.
Thanks Wal-len

Heading off to Alexandra yet again so went the "other way" to grab some caches around Yarra Glen and this one was first. Parked just opposite GZ and then spent a few minutes looking before the cleverly recycled cache container was found. Thanks to Wal-len for this one.

Another week, another TDC run. Not so much about the numbers here, but about cleaning out some inner city caches and a few more than that in the outer areas. CCT0 was looked at, and we did everything but the final on that. A number of new caches came out in the evening, but as TR said in his logs, not all of us got a FTF. Still another great night with plenty of adventure and the awesome company of the TDC crew (myself, Quasar3671 and TrailRunning).

Once again, I stand by the "night caching" as a great option. Able to park real close, and quick find was made. TFTC.

04-Sep-12
TDC (The Demolition Crew which includes myself, Blacklegend and Trailrunning) headed out for another of our regular get together night caching runs. Once again luck was with us and the weather held off with only a light sprinkle of rain towards the end of the night.
We started just north of the city to collect a couple of new caches as well as one we had attempted previously but found out later was MIA, but was now back up and running. From the city we headed east for a route which took us on through Ringwood and Lilydale and then along winding roads up through the Yarra Glen region. Overall we had a great night with us visiting new areas for the first time and with all finds made.
A this time of night we could stop alongside GZ and made a quick search to find the hide. Cache name reminds me of 'The Blues Brothers'.
Thanks Wal-len.

04-Sep-12
After a few big weeks of TDC action, the crew decided to concentrate on cleaning out some caches in the inner city and in the northeast of Melbourne. On the agenda was the 20+ waypoints of CCT-0 – Capital City Trail, while the final was not gathered as it mean backtracking across Melbourne, the crew (Quasar 3671, Blacklegend & TrailRunning) had a fun time collecting all the clues. In the late evening a number of publications came out, and due to a bit of a mix up only one TDC member got to put their name in the log in first place.

This cache was found in the wee hours of the morning, when the shadows start to mow on their own. TFTC!

Found @ 11:15pm, find # 1630
After finding a couple of closeby night caches it was now time to try and find a few more in is area and this was one of them.
I was able to park close to GZ and the walked the rest of the way, once there I had a bit of a look around the area but wasn't seeing anything, I continued my seach and while standing on my toes I spotted something and on closer inspection it was indeed what I was looking for.
Thanks to Wal-len for this cache.

I got the notification of this one just after I arrived at work (thanks Ali). Couldn't leave to get it then, but an after school cache find - yes. It was a nice drive out to Yering, and I found a school I didn't know was there, a historical sign, some pretty blossom and another cacher! When I read this cache description it sounded sort of familiar!! The co-ords were spot on, and I saw the cache from a few steps away. NIce idea, nice hide. It did take some work with an extraction tool to get the cache out of the container, so I took it back to the car for some work. I looked up and there was another car nearby that wasn't there before. I figured it was probably another cacher, and sure enough I met up with Paul the Hippy. We had a but of a chat and then returned the cache to its hide. TFTC Wal-len

Looks like it was a busy day for this cache. Thanks.

22-Aug-12
Quick find after lunch with geowife in tow, some might say a lightning fast find. TFTC

22-Aug-12
I think I might call this the laziest cache that I have done. Pulled into the carpark. Another car trying to look busy. So I sat and waited until they walked past using secret code. I asked the obvious question and jacimarble handed me the cache. I did go and put it back though and it's always nice to meet another cacher person.

Really nice cache design and obviously note related to those annoying lights on the gatehouse sign.

Tftc.

Of course it may also refer to the light from
My fire tower a bit to the right on top of mt st Leonard. The light in the fire tower needs to be on at night so planes can find their way back to Melbourne.

FTF. Found at 0840. Got notification as I was heading to work! As I didnt have to do the school drop off this was an easy detour to this! Quick easy find in the 2nd spot I look! and Yes I have seen the light or where is used to be

Searched for a good half hour with no luck. A tree had just lost a branch so maybe that had something to do my DNF, but being a novice cacher I fear this may not be the case. Will be a while before I can attempt this one again.
