Nice area up this road. Didn't take long to find. Unfortunately log is saturated and cache needs drying out. Tftc
My 10th cache for today and that's a wrap for my St Arnud Geocaching stint but plenty here for next time
After a second trip up the valley delivering water, from a drought region to another almost drought region, I detoured past here to turn that blue into yellow. That was so easy this time, why couldn't I find it there last time. Oh well.
Super good hide, took a few minutes to find but once found it logged it! Definitely recommend if around the area!
Thank you for getting us out for an evening stroll. You have a beautiful area here.
Found with Piwaka54 as we sadly leave St Arnaud. A wonderful few days exploring! TFTC
Another successful find after a previous historic DNF and probably my last one this trip to St A. TFTC . Apologies for the delay in logging this one.
On our bikes this morning exploring St Arnaud. The studio was closed like nearly everything else. Thanks for the placement cache huntr
Found after checking numerous rocks and bushes..the cache is in good condition..sad the the studio was closed..thanks
Had a walk out after it had stopped raining.. lovely little part of the town to walk through, cheers for the smiley
It was like Grand Central Station with cars coming and going, and going and coming. I waited for a break, but a muggle just drove down the right-hand drive, so I told him what I was doing. He got the attention of the property owner who came down the drive. She thought the cx was missing, but eventually pointed to where it should have been, and there it was. TFTC.
Searched about, around many of the hint items with no luck. The sandflies had more luck.
Out and about on a beautiful, sunny, frosty morning with much birdsong and trickling water for company. Location not obvious from a prelim search and didnt want to spend any more time stomping through someone's beautiful berm!
Second and last find today. This is just up the road from where we are staying, so it was a quick stroll here. No joy in the first few minutes so RG went to check out the gallery. I soon joined in and ended up buying a small bowl. We asked about the cache and were told it was still there, so had another look on the way out and eventually snagged and tagged it. TFTC.

Lovely gallery, a definite must to check out! The gallery owner is a lovely lady & very talented!

Phone was zeroing out at one spot which didn't look likely so we grabbed the GPS and powered it up. It too showed the same spot, but a check at another likelier looking spot came up trumps. this is definitely a case of the hint helping narrow down the area. TB left behind. tftc
No luck finding this but on revisiting the clue we may have been looking in the wrong place although the GPS was telling us we were there.
Visited in the early evening, had a quick look but the sandflies were swarming around us so we retreated. Will try again at a different time of day.
I'm staying in Nelson for a few days and decided to drive through to Lake Rotoiti for a change. This was an interesting spot to come to - I haven't really spent any time around here, certainly not anything off the "main drag".
Thanks for placing & maintaining this cache, Cache Huntr.

Quick find this afternoon with eltee291 and crman1. Nice area, neat to see! Signed the log and replaced as found. Visiting from Victoria, BC, Canada. Thanks for the cache, Cache Huntr
Found today with hingis20 and crman1. Sitting around wondering where to caching today and both hingis20 and I both came up with the idea of heading to Saint Arnaud seeing as how it was was going to be a nice day. Thing is, I was in the house and he was in the caravan when we thought of it. On vacation here from Victoria, BC, Canada and visiting with my daughter and her family. TFTC
Eltee291, Hingis20 and I are finished lunch and we are on the prowl for more caches. Tftc
As Edvern notes, this one was easier than anticipated. All quiet, so the find and replace was quickly achieved. TFTC
Enjoying an afternoon of geocaching with Tramper Ted. Reading previous logs we thought this one might be difficult but we found it fairly quickly. The hint should be corrected to just rock (a significant one). No tussock here now. As a previous searcher has noted, there is no need to go over the low fence. TFTC.
Found with NZDi. This weekend is Marlborough Anniversary weekend and after a couple of hectic months stuck around the house, we decided to treat ourselves to an extra long weekend at St Arnaud, so with a successful draw in the RNZAF holiday home ballot we headed to the Nelson Lakes for four nights in another part of the country we call paradise.
Thursday we cycle-cached some of the Teetotal Flat mountain bike park on our MTBs.
Friday we 'Looped the Lake' going clockwise and taking 11 hours to complete (including going up to the Travis Swing Bridge).
Saturday's aim was to clear up as many of the 18 caches we had remaining in and around St Arnaud. We managed to get 14, leaving us four to get over the next two days. then decided to work our way from the furthest cache out back towards our accommodation.
Today we were going to try to get the final four caches we needed to clear St Arnaud and this was the third. We had been here previously and were uncomfortable caching in the residential area. This time we looked high and low for the cache at the hinted items. After we still couldn't find it we approached the property owner who showed us where it should be and we found it. The reason we couldn't find it is because we were looking for the cache 'orgirra n ebpx naq n fznyy ghffbpx'. Where we found the cache it was nowhere near a 'fznyy ghffbpx'. One to go.

Hardly felt conspicuous at all.
I found this one of those 'uncomfortable' urban hides; never quite sure who might be watching.
Happily though, it seemed this street seemed to be 'out' today and my search went uninterrupted.
Just as well, as it took me long enough, as there were a good number of possible hiding places. Got there in the end though.

Zara & I are off for a great expedition at St Arnaud. Leaving Zara on entering St Arnaud, Nigel navigator & I start exploring for those elusive treasure boxes.
A lovely walk up here and a hunt before bagging it. Cheers

This was the 37th find on out South Island trip of 2016. We were heading out of St Arnaud and were taking the scenic route out in order to get a few caches along the way. We stopped off for this one, but didn't have time to check out the paintings unfortunately. We did have look a the properties for sale in the area, one of those would be really nice one day. In any case the cache is in good condition and we retrieved it without any trouble. Thanks for the cache!
27 March 2016 16:00. TFTC, just found out of sight of the gardener. 634 meters towards the DGSC challenge.
After some planning Shannonp1 and I got sorted for a mission into areas we hadn't been. Up to Hanmer through the Molesworth to Blenheim, down the Wairau valley to St Arnaud down the Shannandoa to Murchison and then home via the Lewis. 209 caches for the weekend and a pretty high success rate. Thanks to all the cache owners especially Bum and Worker and sorry for the cut and paste.
So a few weeks in the planning phase, me and Surveybase finally got out and about for a mission. Through Hanmer, up the Molesworth to Blenheim, across through St Arnaud, Murchison and then home. 209 caches for the weekend and a pretty high success rate. Thanks to all the cache owners and sorry for the cut and paste. Cheers.
Stopped by Jan Thomson's studio to have a look at her paintings and collect some eggs for our homestay host. Talked to Jan as we had seen her a few days ago painting up at the Blue Lake. As we were leaving we realised a cache was nearby, so stopped to retrieve it.
Quick find. Our last day of long weekend in St Arnaud. Cakemonster, dazzlebeast are super helpers. TFTC
Last night in this town before heading north, so went for a drive around the town to find some of the many caches placed here, and with the light drizzle about all the muggles seemed to be indoors, making for unobserved finds. Felt quite uncomfortably conspicuous here as I searched - in wrong spot first before ignoring gps and looking in more obvious spot. Took the TB that had been hibernating here for months.
Thanks for the cache Cache Huntr.
Thanks for the cache Cache Huntr.
We looked at getting this, but I'm a little uncomfortable looking for urban caches on private property even with the owners knowledge, so we gave this a pass.
A quick find and as subtle as we could be we were in and out like the wind before anyone noticed - except for the two 10-year-olds yelling, "We've found it, we've found it!" at the top of their lungs! TFTC
Found during our trip from oz to do the Travers Sabine trail.
Thanks for the cache.

A weekend trip up to the Nelson Lakes with G H 6 7 1 0 and the Seagnoid was planned with a couple of days of the weekend in one of the work baches not far off the lake side in Rotoiti/ St Arnaud. Targets were set; get the Seagnoid past 4000 caches, get more than 50 a day for G H 7 6 1 0, and get me past 3200 cache finds. Also in target was some tramping, some boat caching (grabbing whilst moored as close as safely possible to G Z) some 4 W Driving and some basic park and grabs. We also wanted to get all of the puzzle/unknown caches in St Arnaud as well as 100% of the multi caches in St Arnaud (cache Tectonics!). There was driving, boating, walking, rain, mist, sun, ducklings, eels and trout, sandflies (of course), beech trees and great views. Fun and sweat (no tears), a wasp sting and over 100 caches found for me. We all surpassed our targets and at the end of 2 full on days we returned to a cooler Blenheim than when we left tired out.
6th and final cache of the evening for me, my partners in caching have fared better but that's what happens when you've visited somewhere before. No problems with the find and this is at the location near a friend of G H 6 7 1 0's so we popped in for a welcome cup of tea and a nice chat afterwards

[green] Capperz decided that this was the weekend for a marathon run on St Arnaud. Not sure why, except that base lodge there had a cancelled weekend and was free to grab. So he, I and GH6710 had an interesting time caching the surrounds. Rained on and off. The wet long grass meant that I had wet feet for the entire trip. Saw the insides and tops of clouds, some great views, lotsw of rabbits (or maybe just the one, many times over - it always did the same thing: safe on the side of the road, it decides to runs across just in front of the car). Also got to see robins, sandflies, no keas, sandflies and more sandflies. We managed to get GH to break his 50/day record, and over 120 for the whole trip. Saturday we climbed half way up Mt Robert in the morning then boated around Lake Rotoiti in a little yellow plastic dingy for the afternoon. Sunday was lonely cache day - some over 10 months since their last find. Many of these found with GH's 4x4, bumping over some very rough roads, my first real experience of four wheel driving. What an awesome weekend!
Arrived in St Arnaud at last. GH knows the painters here, so we stopped in for a cuppa tea and a biscuit after signing the cache. Dropped in a TB.

Day 1 of our stay in St Arnaud. Didn't get cracking until we'd enjoyed a coffee from the General Store cafe, not bad either.
A beaut day, sunny, warm and lots of very relaxed looking people out and about.
We adopted cycle power for the day's caching. First we took the wrong route, backtracked and got ourselves to GZ eventually.
Cache find was a bit tricky for us. Found in the end. Wondering about the eyes that are watching the strange folk searching for what?
Log signed, then safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

A few options in the garden but soon had my hands on it. Nice artwork. Found on a big day with Team Gators down to St Arnaud and up the Wairau, this was one of 139 smilies for me for the day signed as KMTG. Cheers.
In Richmond on a wee family holiday. Headed out for the day with KiwiMoose on a caching mission through St Arnaud and up the Waiau Valley- to save on the possibility of RSI we signed logs as KMTG.
A long fun day. 150 caches total. A few options but we split up and soon had it corneredand signed. Cheers.

Took a wrong turn in the road, stayed to the west and ended up in a farmers front paddock which we had to hightail out of and retrace steps...another 300 metres on a very hot Boxing Day but our team was keen enough.
Weekend away with MuzzaL53, heading to Lake Rotoiti, phones in hand, personalised manual for the weekend, and collecting caches as we go.
This cache was found as part of our afternoon mission at the lake.
A quick find - thank god given GZ!

#8598. Interesting to compare the newer suburbs of St Arnaud like this one, with the older ones where houses are hard to spot amongst the bush. TFTC.
With the weather looking a bit dodgy, we decided to drive to a few easily accessible caches. Glad to see that the cache was placed with permission as we felt we were on private property. A quick find. TFTC.

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.
This was it - one of the caches on our big day
Consec caching day # 702

For the sake of sanity we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!
Today was to be our biggest day. S planned the route to cover the most possible easy to get P&G’s but we ended up not limiting ourselves to only those. D2.5? Why not? Let the brain have a bit of fun! D3? I am sure we can get there quickly!
We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!

Thanks for the cache, we haven't been here for many years, really enjoying our time here. Playing camp host at Kerr Bay
Had to come back for a second search of this one, it seems the hide is a little different to that suggested in the hint. Also quite open to being watched by muggles, but got it in the end. TFTC, #5955
When we arrived, we met the artist doing some gardening very close to the cache. She wasn’t giving any hints, but the cache was a quick easy find. TFTC
A weekend trip to Lake Rotoiti and time for a few caches along the way. The sun was shining and the caching gods were happy. Find number 18. Never quite sure when looking for these type of caches on what the neighbors might think but made the find. TFTC
Looked for a while in the spot where I thought most likely, but after a read of the cache page I widened the search a little for a quick find. TNLN SL TFTC
