This was not an easy climb from the trail. The only tree I was able to identify is gorse.
Day 3 of my TA section from pelorus road end to Arthur's pass..browning hut to slaty hut ..another big day 9hrs and soaked by the end of it..
Took the pack off for this one and still couldn't find it..not the best start to the morning..

Nice easy find with help from paddle chick while we were staying at The Hacket Up too browning hut TFTC
A great way to spend a friday off work...I was heading to my cousin's place in Stoke to help her for the weekend and thought I'd stop off on the way for a wee tramp. I'd been eying up the Pelorus track from the other side and wondered what it was like from the Nelson side. The track had a couple of steepish bits but otherwise a pretty sedate track. Did this Chromite loop track and then up to Hacket hut and another loop track that headed up to the Browning Hut - but turned back to the carpark. All up I was wandering for around 5 hrs including caching.
Well this one needs a bit of work..... there was a slight trail at the track but that only lasted about 1/4 of the way to the cache - needs serious bush bashing... unless I just took the wrong approach. But once I located cache - I made it even harder for myself trying to cut down the bank to the cache.... got a little scratched up. TFTC B&W

As the previous finder mentioned - there is no easy way to this cache anymore! Was lucky to find this with relative ease and soon had the log signed. Log book still in great condition. Cleared the vegetation from down the back of my neck and bush bashed down the short ridge to the track.

Found on our TA thru-hike. There is no good way to get to this anymore. Cache is still there though, far off trail in the middle of the woods!
Over from Lower Hutt with a group of tramping club friends to ride and walk some of the local trails and tracks. A delightful and interesting track if a bit scratchy getting to this one.. TFTC
Lid is now taped...will be fine as long as it is NOT done up too tight. Thanks.
Wow, this one was not easy. The lid is broken and needs to be repaired before the rain gets to it.
That was a bit of a grunt up from the Hacket Hut. Nice to have a quick breather while finding and signing the cache. Thank you

I wasn't planning to go for a ride today, but an old friend suggested an easy ride up the Hackett. Well we ended up heading for Browning, but I gave up when the carrying was greater than the riding. While deciding which way home, I checked my phone to see if I had anything saved for this area. So a ride and another day ticked off on the streak.
Had a chuckle when I saw KE had visited today as well, no doubt keeping the streak going as well.

Out for a family walk to Hackett Hut so decided to continue the loop to here before heading down to the car. A beautiful day out. This was a bit more off track than I was expecting but easily found. Cache container lid is broken due to having been tightened too much by a previous finder but all is dry inside.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.

Returning from Mt Meares. One last hill which wasn't too bad and enjoyed the loop back to the bikes. The final bash was a struggle but found the right Manuka in the end. Track disappeared on the way up and never reappeared on the way down. Enjoyed Jane's log in the log book Most impressed we are that she walked in from Pelorus Bridge to make the find.

A planned trip with Marchwood and Max up the Hacket with a final destination of Mt Meares and the opportunity to collect a number of other caches along the way. The day dawned fine and our adventure began at 8.30 am from the Hacket Bridge on our bikes. Find number 10 on our way back from Mt Meares. Dear bum, I really appreciate all the caches you place but if only you knew how sore my body was when we got to the knob you wouldn't have put this one where you did, 40 metes off track. I may forgive you when my body recovers. TFTC
Bumped into SoBad & Isis58 at Hackett Hut and again near this cache, so we ended up finding this one together. Good to have SoBad's expert eyes searching as she soon had the cache in hand. The next task was finding the best route back to the track. TFTC
SoBad was busy with cars and cricket so Mrs sent out a 'do you want a walk' email. Another of the stunning summer days we have had this year and a great day to walk and talk. It is not about the numbers so the fact only one cache left unfound in the area was minor. But the numbers did appear. Met Tepedekoy - hope you found a few more blackberries. Met a walking group near here - doing the loop in reverese and including people we knew. And finally met 2 Chch cachers later in the trip.
This cache was found when we read the cache page - and backtracked a bit!! Then on and up and over and down and there it was.
Thanks for the cache and especially for the extra excuse to get out and about.

I was the knob on this trip! Totally misinterpreted the very clear invitation for a walk in the Hackett so didn't have any of the caches loaded into the GPS. Then had 2DNFs, then we walked past the entry point but all good in the end. Really nice to have the company of Tepedekoy on this one as well and at last can log a find. TFTC #4538
Came in from Pelorus with a week of food - there's a quicker way?!? All this way, and I get a gorse-bash as a reward
FTF Well three times out on this track in a week - hope I don't wear it out . Probably a record number of km walked in a week for me too [xx(]. Anyway, although I'd visited the Hacket Hut before I'd never been on this section of track, so nice to explore somewhere new. About 200m shy of the cache there a couple of little streams a a grassy area. On the way in a came face to face with a tiny brown goat - only came up to my knees - and on the way back I surprised two more of the same. Last few metres bush bash to the cache were fun too. No problems with the find as coordinates pretty good. Now I can maybe get some rest... [|)] TFTC, Biggles.
