As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

After a large number of DNF and a couple of maintenance requests that have been ignored, I regretfully wonder if this should be archived so a replacement could be placed. It hasn't been found since 20/11/2013 (the more recent found log is untrue). Of course I would rather it be replaced.....
I noticed that this cache has been in need of owner attention for a period of time well in excess of the period of "a few weeks" as contemplated by the cache guidelines published on Geocaching.com. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other caches from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it (using the archive listing link in the upper right) so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location.
If you plan on repairing this cache, please log a note to the cache (not email) within the next 30 days so I don't archive the listing for non-communication.

In view of the DNFs this cache may have gone. Looked in what seemed to be likely spots but nothing!
Looked and looked, but couldn't find it. It's been a while since it's been found, could be time for a maintenance check?
Came for a look today whilst in the area but no joy at GZ. May be time for a check!!
Had a really good hunt around while on lunch break from working for the Sobourn. Tried with several different GPS machines and couldn't find it. Given that there are only limited locations for this I was really disappointed. It is a fantastic location for a cache too!
Looked all around while out with CachingInNZ. Think this one's gone AWOL.

While on a family cruise around the pacific, had to make the most of a few port stops.
We walked right past this twice while visiting your fair city, and couldn't find it either time.

Looked for this one twice today on our way into Wellington to and from the ms Oosterdam. No sign of it.
Looked for it while visiting on Voyager of the Seas. Saw several likely spots, but we were unable to locate the cache.
Too many Muggle about to get it on the way off the Voyager of the Seas so I got on the way back. TFTC
Found while on a visit from Oamaru for the All Whites Vs Mexico. Beautiful day in Wellington. Stealth required as hundreds of cruise ship travelers headed back to their ship. TFTC.
Tftc sl visiting from the Solstice cruise ship. Thank for placing one for the cruisers
Thank you for the warm welcome to Wellington. I just arrived today ... Does it matter that I did not arrive by cruise ship? TFTC!
Find #1648. A nice sunny day for a spot of cycle caching in the city. Tried to start early but as the day progressed was thwarted at some caches by the crowds. This one was a good way to start and a good excuse to explore this end of the Quay. Plenty of traffic but an easy find once I'd determined the correct object. SL TFTC
Fairly straight forward find on a quick lunchtime jaunt. Had more problems with the technology than the cache (GPS on my phone would not switch on). A bit of wind required a careful strategy to ensure the contents of the cache did not blow away while doing the formalities. TFTC.
Spotted the likely hiding place from the distance so was just a matter of waiting for gaps in the traffic for the grab and replace.
Humm, helps to read ALL the cache description notes on the GPS as that would have narrowed down the search area . In the end figured it out as about the only place it could have been and then made a quick find with heaps of passing traffic. TFTC
Found it thank you in a sheltered place. Log is damp, it is difficult to write on log with a ball point, but fine with a pencil. Roll on Spring! SL TFTC
Third time looking for this cache. How come other's can find it when it is definately not there? Was about to give up again when I discovered a whole other structure I hadn't seen before. And found the cache immediately.
This was just embarrassing... [xx(]
Found on the way home form the International Geocaching Day Event in Khandallah. At least I found that on my first try!

Quick find with bkj97. Passing motorists were disinterested. Make believe phone call while log details completed didn't arouse suspicion. T4TCSL
Had a little time on my hands, so no worries wandering down from a safe parking spot for this one. Incredibly exposed to Saturday-afternoon traffic, but that's part of the challenge of these types of caches isn't it ... being as un-interesting to the traffic whizzing by as you can be ... and using utmost stealth at the appropriate time.
TFTC!
TFTC!
Problem with parking so did the country bumpkin thing with hazard lights on ( no impediment for traffic) and "pacing " around with some object that looked like a phone. Located cache, returned to car for signing, paced around, returned cache then car fixed!
After being delayed by weather I got up early to grab a few caches for my dot day. The weather is still sh1t andd cold but this was the first that I collected before heading north by bus

Find # 77 of 100 day challenge. Even though it might look a bit like it, this is definitely not an easy park and grab. It took some pretty tricky driving and finding turning spots and then parks to get anywhere close to this one. Good that I was doing it after dark when traffic was quieter. Approaching the GZ the distance never went below 20M to go on both smart phone and Garmin, but I was at a likely spot from reading the clue- so delve in I did and a satisfying object was found! as dozens of muggles hurtled by, unaware of what I was up to. Lots of fun. Thanks.
Lovely day for a walk in the sunshine. Took me longer than it should have as i kept being directed another 16m away. TFTC
Dealing with a dot day.
Nice find.
Log signed. Cache safely re-hidden.

Took a walk to find this one early this morning. Quite surprising how many people walk along this side of the road then jump the barrier and cross over to the other side, probably on their way to the ferry by the looks of it. Good spot for a cache, nicely placed for tourists. Brownie the traveling Kiwi came along for the ride as well. TNLN SL TFTC
Goodbye to Wellington
I was given an hour, or less, whilst the other member waited in the warm and dry at the station before our bus left for the north. Noticed a couple of likely candidates, this being the first. Interesting walk along the road past the train tracks, dock area and of course the cruise liner bit.
Cache soon located- noticed, that when you go to a new area the caches are hidden in a particular way, this is a 'signature' method. The 'eclipse' mint tin is also a 'signature' container which I never seen before, in the UK.

Really nice to be back in Wellington. I miss it after working in and out of here for the last nine years. TFTC #4752
Found this cache on my journey home just after finding the re-cycle series. During a quick break in traffic, I was able to find this cache. Signed log and placed back. TFTC.
Find # 3058 @ 11:10 on our cruise around NZ
Nice easy find. Thanks for placing the cache and for bringing me here.

Nice easy cache for my lunchtime walk today. Passed lots of cruise muggles heading back to the latest ship, but well strung out, so was able to retrieve and return the cache without needing undue stealth. TFTC
Found on a summery Wellington evening in front of a skeptical KK33NZ and a super-vigilant port security guard. TFTC Jack.
After a fantastic day wandering about the city, we grabbed this one before heading back to our ship, the Amsterdam. TFTC!
Slight diversion on my cycle trip home tonight to swing by and grab this one. Huge cheer went up just as I got the cache but I think it related to something happening across the road!
Great cache page, thanks for the placement of this cache.

TFTC. Not big enough for Dex's 2006 Canadian Benchmark Geocoin, so I'll have to find another cache.
great spot for a cache. thanks for setting up such a cruise friendly cache. tnln tftc
I was down in Wellington for a church meeting and arrived early with an hour to kill. A quick and easy cache find. Thanks!
Quick and easy find once we realised the co-ords were out by 10m. Did with Mycro Man, wandering Dragons and Violet Butterfly
Did today with Wandering Dragons, Crystal Fairy and MycroMan. TFTC!
Cache #280
Cache #280
Cache #874 - the only hard thing about this one (once we found the coords were out by 10 metres) was the constant stream of muggles, both on foot and in vehicles. Nice placement. TFTC! Did with Crystal Fairy, Violet Butterfly and MycroMan.
Figured we would wander down and grab this one, since we were nearby.
Had to wait for a break in traffic, but that didn't take long.

Had problems matching coords on this one but looked in the hint compatible places. TFTC
Had a quick look here around Christmas and couldn't get the GPS to settle down. Interesting how at GZ the GPS was spot on and yet five metres away it shows ten plus metres further away! Cruise ship in today. Wellies is getting a lot of them this season. Great spot for a traditional.

We disembarked from our cruise ship with the intention of doing some geocaching and this was our first find in Wellington. Really neat fund, Coords spot on. SL. TFTC
Alas this is on the other side of some very locked gates - eventhe foot path was locked off at the end of the bus stop structure. Either that or the coords are a very long way off. None the less I checked out the pohotukawa (just in case the coords were off). Will have to come back for this one - hopefully there will not be any logging operations on then.
Out and about caching on a beautiful night - took a little while to work out where this was, and then had to time the retrieval/replacement between muggles. TFTC.
The hardest part about this cache was finding somewhere to park. As there was a Phoenix game on at the stadium, the suggested parking coordinates had an event parking fee of $15.00 which seemed a little steep for what looked like it would only require a quick visit. Eventually found a 30 min spot at the railway station which gave us just enough time to get there, find the cache after a quick search and return to the car. TFTC
A nice quick find on a handy cache. Sorry for the late log on this one.

Quick find by geohubby as we were heading back to our cruise ship Voyager of the Seas.
We say goodbye to NZ now as we head back to Australia.
TFTC and thanks for the welcome.

We parked in Hinemoa St, close to the suggested parking co-ords and walked briskly to GZ (where the cache was an instant find for StreetWalker while my GPSr was bouncing all over the place), then a brisk walk back to the car. Probably took us 10 mins all up, so we were astonished to find a $50 parking ticket tucked under the windscreen wipers.
The surprise was that we had to pay for street parking on a Saturday (especially in a commercial area where there was hardly anyone around) and that the parking warden was nowhere to be seen - must have been lurking somewhere close and pounced as soon as we left the car. There is a board nearby which say that parking is metered Monday to Sunday, but we hadn't seen it, or even thought to look. So motorist, be warned.
Despite all that, a good spot for a cache! TFTC.

#4406. Good idea to have a welcome cache for cruise ship passengers. Be warned that the kerb side parking at the parking coords is NOT council parking. I didn't even know that kerb-side parking could be operated by private companies, and had thought all CBD kerb-side metered parking was council parking, and as such is limited to 2 hours on weekends but not charged for. The time on the parking ticket was 1622. Looking at the GPSr track log, we parked at 1617, and by 1622 were about 50m from reaching GZ. Grrr. TFTC.
Thought I'd make a quick find on the way home, but unfortunately got fixated on where I thought the cache should be rather than where it was. Needless to say I didn't catch the train I intended to catch - but I got the cache - finally! TFTC
Well, this is embarrasing. A new unfound geocache so close to work and I've only just noticed it A nice little walk in the sunshine this morning, and a quick find, and that matter is now resolved. A very busy spot but you are pratically invisible to passing traffic anyway, it flies by so quick they only see you as a stationary snapshot in time.
A very good spot for a cache, there is certainly a lot of cruise ships visiting these days. I'm sure the placement will be well appreciated by the geocachers amongst the passengers, and it will be a fun one to watch and see how many finders are such visitors.
Many thanks, great fun.

Came for a walk from home to her today, picking up a few caches that had appeared in the last couple of weeks while I was in the South Island.. A really nicely done cache page, that first photo is a beauty! The GPSr originally had me going into private property but after checking various structures around and using a bit of "cacher's instinct" it was soon turned up right where I should probably have started looking. Signed log, TFTC!
Docked in Wellington for the day off the ms Oosterdam. Took a tour of the city and after reboarding the ship, I noticed this cache only feet away. So I scampered out and made a quick find. Thanks for placing this cache so handy to the quay. Goshhawk St Charles MO USA
2nd attempt - initially deterred by Coordinates showing as 29m out at GZ (but that could just have been the mobile and app I was using)....... Then tried google earth (road layout changed since image taken) and finally "OK, where else could it be hidden nearby that people could (safely) reach?" TFTC - neat idea though!
#3491. Good to do at night, when the traffic was a lot lighter. People were still at work inside the log yard with their flashing lights, but they were far enough away and soon left anyway. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Nice quick find on the way to work at 0530.
No cruise ships in at the moment, but they can't be far away.
