With the help of a local we were sent to dig around a bit but no luck.

Sounds like it is gone :/

What a great spot! Too bad we couldn't locate it today. Be good to know if all is still in order.

Lots of looking

Second stop here, once again walked away with a DNF. Had a great little wander around the side, and checked out the end of the line. Still no idea where the cache could be, perhaps I need to reevaluate my searching methods and locations next time I'm nearby, I'd love to have this one crossed off my DNF list.

Had the spot to ourselves for the afternoon so had a decent look around, without being able to locate cache. We did however get to watch an amazing sunset! Such a beautiful location!
Will try again another time.

**Smilie #4515**

Today's target area is between Ipswich & Toowoomba.
Let's see if we get some gold on our map in this, so far, unvisited area for us. Smile

As we pulled the Geo-Beast to a halt close to GZ we were joined by another vehicle.
Possibly a Geo-cacher?
No, a very sociable local who was a volunteer worker arriving to do a bit of regularclean up & gardening work around the area in preparation for next weekend when they run a steam train along the old lines.
They do this on the last Sunday of every month, except December (Xmas), for a small fee.
More information is available online by Googling RHS (Railway Historical Society).
A very interesting area & a great chat with 'Old Mate' who was keen to learn about caching, once we told him why we were there. Smile
Geo-Mamma quickly found & retrieved the cache while I was promoting caching! LOL ...
As we were about to depart a pair of very loud Channel-billed Cuckoos flew overhead in full vocal display.
Made our mark & replaced as found.

Out for a drive with Mugglemum. I am trying to convert her to Geomum. Very Happy After finding a nearby cache, we headed to this one. After checking a couple of spots on the wrong level, we moved and began searching another spot. This time, the cache was quickly found. The cache container no longer has a lid. Unfortunately, I didnt have a spare container with me, so was unable to replace it. I did return it to its hiding spot upside down in the hope that this might protect it from the weather a bit. No luck here today. We rocked up just as a bunch of seniors were on their way out, leaving the station completely free for us to paw over. Despite spending around 20 minutes here, we couldn't see anything resembling the cache. Oh well, gives us another reason to come back, perhaps even to take the train one day

27-Jun-15
The Muggle Partner (MP) and I were out this way from the Sunshine Coast to celebrate my Brother-in-laws Bucks Party at the local Paintball Range. It was one hell of a day... 26 guys, 1,000 bullets each and 6hrs of non-stop brutality... Did all this stop me from getting a few caches whilst out here... NOPE!

I was lucky enough to be able to convince the MP to allow us to hit up a few caches on the way home, with this cache being one of the three that I was allowed to grab.

Covered from head to toe in sweat, paint, dirt and bruised and battered we pulled up to this cache.

OMG, we were soooooo lucky today... Just as we had found the cache, signed the log and were heading back to the car. In the distance we could see a puff of steam. We thought that it looked interesting and that we would stick around to see what it was. Arn't we glad we did, it was a magnificent old private steam train and we got a private viewing of it. (Picture uploaded)

The train pulled right into the old station and we were the only people there. After a quick hello, explore and toot of the horn, the train was off again in a puff of steam! What a great unexpected experience and for the I have to add a Fav' Point here.

Thanks for the cache Irony9. All is in good order.

Today we explored Marburg and Rosewood and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. This was one we found on a loop in the area, enjoyed the country roads and picturesque views. Adding to our favourites, great spot that we would not have visited if it was not for Geocaching, well worth the visit!!!

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

When I parked the car, a volunteer was doing the mowing. Asked if I needed help and I then talked him though GCing. I was looking up top and then realised it would be further down. He took me down to the station and said there was a lot of work clearing lately so I was a little worried I would not find it. I carefully checked every upright and came up with the container. I showed him it and showed him the app. He in turn gave me some interesting info on the railway and the views beyond - the old coal mine. All in all - a win win - I learned about some history and he learned about GC'ing! TFTC Irony 9

I was here on one of the other days of the year. True it is a micro but it is certainly not just another micro. I enjoyed finding out about the history of this area and the railway across to Marburg.

28-Dec-14
Well, what do you know? It would appear to be the last Sunday of the month. Lots of cars near GZ. Twisted

I suspect that on a nice day this could be much more difficult, but the rain today had all the muggles huddled in the station and out of sight from GZ. [^]

A nice quick find with the hint. Big Grin

We left Leslie Dam this morning, stopping for caches along the way.
We are camping for a couple of nights at Harrisville. Camping behind the hotel beside a peaceful creek, that has wondeful water lillies on it.
We took a drive around the nearby farming area. Searching for caches in the many small communities.
This was an unexpected location, not having lived in the area. It would be good to see the train run.
Thanks for placing this cache Irony9

I had the place to myself this afternoon, so took the liberty of parking a little closer than I otherwise might have... Out of the car and off to GZ, I scanned around for a couple of minutes before spying the prize... Aha, that's neatly placed... Wink

I added my mark in the log and tucked the container back in place. All done, I headed back up the road.

A neat place to drop by, thanks for showing me somewhere I might have otherwise not found... [^]

Cheers Irony9.

Been here before in a previous life (pre geocaching) First thing I found was a brown snake, which scared me, but he slithered away in the opposite direction, which gave me time for the grab. No muggles around on Melbourne Cup day!

thanks for the hide Irony9

Wombat the Anthus laptop Geocoin visited, as did Runciple's Grasshopper, a tassie trekkers pathtag, a mammoth who wants to see sheep, a slovak geocoin, a bumble bee and a travelling turtle.

Finding caches in Toowoomba and in the Lockyer valley keeping to the south of the Warrego Highway. Now down in this area. Found 41 today with no DNF's and 4 yesterday in Toowoomba. This is number 38 for today. I liked this drive. Quick find and the container is well hidden. Good container for the spot. I liked the pink nylon cord. I used spaced 18 as it looks like everyone else has started at the other end. TFTC irony9

Not long on site and we hear the distinct sound of a train...no...couldn't be! Sure enough, through the trees we spot a small engine thing (obviously a real train enthusiast here Wink ) coming in our direction. We stepped up into the station to read the literature there while we waited to see what would happen. The engine and its 3 male occupants trundled past the station and came to a stop. Toot! Toot! They sounded the whistle and started back in the direction from whence they came.

Back to the business of the cache. Had us scratching our heads for a bit but eventually we spied the hidey hole. As we walked back up to the car we heard the train coming back again!! Repeat performance...stopped just past the station...toot of horn...and away again. Snapped the photo as it took off the second time. Thanks Irony9.

Came for the train-ride with Chooks2 (on the last Sunday on the month) and we got a bonus cache! For those wondering the train is still running $12 for adults, $6 for kiddies over 4. TVMFTC!

Nice find with 3veevees. Watched the train leave with geokids while geodads went looking so the muggles wouldn't catch us! Tftc

Does a train still run here? Everything looked abandoned and the old engine was definitely not about to go anywhere. Sad to see this in such a state. Good co-ords made for an easy find. Thanks Irony9.

This one was a bit harder to find as all the gps's and phones were stuffing up or batteries going flat. We eventually found it and logged our names Smile

07-Sep-13
5th find for the day, This one was a bit of a pain to find given all gps devices had gone flat and the phones navigation was all over the shop Sad even remembering the hint didn't bring us any closer to finding it until alas I remembered having the hand held garmin in the glove box, quick input of co ords and cache was quickly in hand. Had to have a giggle and think that I'd been so close to it for so long that had it been a snake it would have bitten me. Signed and returned. Such a beautiful little piece of history, its such a shame the mines have ruined the view.
