Day three of my Victorian Caching Adventure. Time to get put the bicycle I’d hired to work and explore the Bass Rail Trail. I left the bike at my motel and drove out to Anderson parked there and caught a bus back to Wonthaggi so I only had to cycle the one way. A great ride I’d recommend to anyone. The caching along the way was a bonus really. I had a reasonable good hit rate and found most of the ones I looked for. Cheers and TFTC
Logos sodden . Tried to dry it out so I could write on it but pencil wouldn't write on soggy paper unfortunately. Great hide.
KAKAGA Mark 2: Kate And Kelly's Amazing Geocaching Adventure is happening again because we're free of children, chores and work! Hurrah! A trip down to the coast was organised with the New Years events and rail trail in mind and ended with a count of: one emergency department visit, one headbutted tree, one muggle asking if we were looking for drugs, endless swarms of flies, many scratches, one sunburned shoulder, one milestone 1000th cache, great meals, good company and 66 caches.
I managed to find this one as I turned around to give up - alas, the bison has lost its seal so the weather has gotten in and turned the log unwriteable. Thanks anyway Gonefishen07

This weekend marked the second of the much anticipated KAKAGA trips (Kate and Kelly's Amazing Geocaching Adventures). Mummy Short Legs and I were both very excited to be given the opportunity to spend almost two full days together with nothing but a vehicle, our bikes and our GPSs for company. We were not going to let soaring temperatures or bucketloads of flies stop us, we were going to cache our way around the Inverloch/Wonthaggi area till we dropped (or until the geohusbands begged for our return at least!).
Coming prepared with bikes we hit up the rail trail on our second day of KAKAGA#2. MSL discovered this one after exploring the area. A neat container but the log was too wet to sign. Looks like the seal has broken off so the weather is getting in. TFTC GF07.

Found today whilst out on the geobike. Started this series two years ago and have finally got back. Thanks for the fun and exercise. TFTC

Started off from next to the Pony club today to enjoy the trail for the 3rd time. I am really enjoying this trail and cache series and thought it would be good to try and finish it off before the warmer weather brings out both more muggles and snakes! This was 13 of 19 found along here today. TFTS Gonefishen07 and other that help in maintaining the caches. Again not what I was expecting given it was a micro and the cache name, but i always enjoy the surprises.

Bouncing coords had us looking from one spot to another. A lucky spot from a distance and we had it. Log was very wet, but pen worked ok. All back again.
The days has heated up a bit now, the flies are extreme friendly too. Cache hunt is going very well but some DNF have been collected also. There has been a lot of work gone into this trail by the COs , so a huge thank you.
First rail trail with the crew. Perfect cloudless day for it. Love the thought put into each cache! Sorry about the generic log!
#753 - Day two of my trip down to the Inverloch for some caching.
The first part of my day today consisted of riding the rail trail from Wonthaggi to Kilcunda picking up as many Rail Trail caches as I could. My weapon of choice was my brothers cycle-cross bike so I could give it a go, with the decision to leave my road and mountain bike at home.
After having a bit of a sleep in to 7am this morning to catch up on some sleep, I quickly had breakfast and headed off to park at Wonthaggi to start the ride.
Between the hours of 08:00-15:00, I was able to get to Kilcunda and back as well as complete 44 of the 50 rail trail caches that I set out to do, (6 DNF's due to not being able to find them and not spend to much time there or due to muggle activity).
I was very impressed with the variety of caches and different cache hides along this part of the Rail Trail. I ended up spending a lot more time looking for caches then riding as quite a few of them were a challenge to find!
Thank you Gonefishen07 for the effort put into these caches, had a really fun ride.

In Wonthaggi this weekend for a whole heap of geocaching!
Saturday, and what was planned to be a massive day. The schedule was to travel to Kilcunda via the rail trail, then head back down the coast. Unfortunately I ran out of time and had to head back to Wonthaggi before completing all the caches. Nevertheless a heap of smileys are now on the map, and I had a blast. A huge thank you to Gonefishen07 for placing these, they are great! Ill be back another day to finish the area off! I apologize for the generic logs, but there are a lot of them!!
A great hide

It was nice to get out and enjoy some sunshine after weeks of rain. We had previously looked for this one and were relieved when it was archived as at least it meant we weren't completely blind. Headed back out now that it is up and running again. It was trickier than I expected and I was glad that Jess was there to find it.
We had a great day on the rail trail between Dalyston and Wonthaggi today. Thanks to Gonefishen07 for your effort in hiding all these caches.
sbspink geokid found this hide. It was his first find and very exciting.

Looked and looked but couldn't find it. I hate micros in the bush, until I find them that is. Will be back.
Out for a days caching while staying in the area. I decided to enjoy the solitude of a long walk with lots of caches. My aim is to get to Wonthaggi. Spotted something that wasn't the cache turned around and there it was. Tftc
Found! This one took me way too long to find Around and around and some more. Then I went back to the path & omg there it is
The day started for me at 7:25am & I finished at 5:29pm in Wonthaggi. I had the most enjoyable time seeing plenty along the way & enjoyed the variety of cache hides & containers. A brilliant effort and I thank the CO for the most enjoyable day out!

Had to come back for this one as friends on bikes stopped for a chat, so we walked on with them for a while. Managed to lose them before the next cache. Had us looking for a bit, but found under 5min mark. TFTC
Geo Hubby did a section of the Rail-trail today while , I walked in another area.
We found a variety of caches some hard, micro's in the bushes are always a worry. Some very cleverly hidden.
Thanks for placing this cache Gonefishen07

We headed out from Wongathi to do more of the rail trail making sure we were heading in the right direction so that the strong wind was pushing us along rather than us having to ride into it. Lots of creative and interesting hides and a really pleasant trail. This was one of the caches we targetted and were able to find. Thanks to Gonefishen07 for the enormous effort that has been put in to enhance of enjoyment of this caching experience.
Out on the bike again with Bruce finding a few more caches along the rail trail. Started at the coal mine hoping to catch a tail wind back to Powlett River. Today we found another 34 caches mostly fairly easy finds with a few tricky micros in the bush. Tip, not all micros are small. Unfortunately we had a few dnf's today, it seemed these were mostly in areas where some cleaning up has taken place and maybe the caches have been taken as well. All up a good day of caching and some exercise to boot. Thanks to Gonefishen07 for hiding this cache.
Melbourne parties Friday noon and returned Tuesday morning in Melbourne. I came here to make different trail of caches in the area. It was intense few days with my bike but very nice! I could find caches with superb camouflage, very good ideas from the cachers. This log will be the same for all caches that I made (sorry) But I want to congratulate in particular:
Nut bear & BorisB & Natasha for "Bay Trail" and "Red Hill Express" (Beautiful cover!)
The Three Amigos Geo for "The Pathway"
Gonefishen07 for the great "Rail Trail"
As well as other geocacher who I discovered several caches during these few days.
Thank you very much
Greetings from France
I will be at Mega event with my friend who just especially France also "Ckronos"

Found on our "Making Memories" Tour of Mainland Australia.
Today we explored Wonthaggi and surrounds using geocaching as our guide.
We found a total of 51 caches and this was one of them. Our 21st cache of the day - This one took ages to find, but find it we did.
As we progressed along the trail we were impressed by the variety of hides and the creative use of containers. Some we found quickly and others needed a little more investigation before they revealed themselves.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for taking the time to place and maintain these caches for our enjoyment. We really appreciate the effort gone into these creative and inventive hides. A great days caching and one we will remember.

Twelfth "pushbike" find. Couldn't find it on the way out so tried successfully on the way back.
Found this cache while on a solo six-day bicycle geo-tour around West and South Gippsland. I started by taking the train out to Crib Point, and then catching the ferry across to Cowes on Phillip Island. From there I stealth camped near BBQ shelters and dropped in on friends as I rode to San Remo, Wonthaggi, Inverloch, Fish Creek, Leongatha, Mirboo North, Mt Worth and Yarragon. This route took me along most of the Bass Coast Rail Trail and the Great Southern Rail Trail. I caught the train back to the city.
I'd done the northeast leg of the Bass Coast Rail Trail the day before, and camped near Bass Bridge overnight. Today I headed towards Wonthaggi.
This is the densest and longest power trail that I have done to date. Barely was I settled on my bike, which was loaded with gear, before I'd be bearing down on the next GZ. I had my Garmin attached to my handlebar and it led me along easily and faultlessly. This was the first power trail where I wrote a note about each cache because it would be several days before logging online and it is difficult to recall them.
Really enjoyed the different camos and containers. First I found a camo on the ground, then I found the one I needed to find, but it was much flimsier. Combined them.

Helped Gonefishen07 with the maintenance run along here. They are all good to go now with nice new logs.
Found 2:05:00 PM, during our epic Anderson (and beyond) to Wanthaggi, rail trail adventure, which involved a distance of 51.36 km, ten hours twenty five and a half minutes in and out of the saddle [xx(] and 103 cache finds It also gave BB#2 an ideal arena in which to test her new 29'er
TNLN, thanks Gonefishen07.

Day 4 of wilco and red tag's Moto GP tour of Melbourne.
Today we finished off all but a few of the rail trail series. There were a couple of DNFs, and a couple that we couldn't really search for as a result of too many muggles. The trail obviously gets more use on a weekend (today is a Saturday), and the Wonthaggi areas were busier too. Again we had another beautifully sunny day.
The GPS was directing me to the opposite side of the track, but I was having no luck so I crossed the path the "check the plumbing", so to speak. Almost immediately I spotted something not quite natural and quickly found the cache. I held on to relieve the pressure further down the track.

An awesome series for us Tassie caches to enjoy on our Caching/MotoGP trip to Vic. Thank you GoneFishen07, this must have taken a lot of work. We walked the length and breadth of this series over 2 days. The weather was perfect and the sights and experiences were unforgettable.

SciFiRulz went one way, I went the other way but too far and then PapaGrouch just calmly walks up behind me and picks it up. Nicely done! TFTC
Found while walking along the rail trail first from Anderson to Woolamai. I started at 6.30pm at Anderson just to grab a few Caches, but before I knew it it was 10.30pm and I had reached the end of the line at Woolamai and then had to walk up hill back to the roundabout. The walk back only took an hour.
I Returned from Melbourne the next day to Wonthaggi to continue the series. Starting at the information centre around 11.00am and reaching the State Coal Mine about 1.30pm returning to Wonthaggi just after 2.00pm and then home to Melbourne.
A week after first starting the series I started my attack from Kilcunda at 7.00pm walking towards Anderson and returning to Kilcunda around 11.30pm. I then continued walking from Kilcunda towards Wonthaggi. After crossing the trestle bridge at Kilcunda I made it as far as Mouth of Powlett Rd before returning to Kilcunda before 1.00am.
I then drove back to the information centre at Wonthaggi at continued walking back towards Kilcunda. I only made it as far as South Dudley Rd before 2.00am. then I thought it best to return to the car and to a caravan park that was booked earlier.
The next morning I continued the hunt from South Dudley rd at 8.00am walking to Mouth of Powlett Rd by 11.45am returning to the car at South Dudley Rd at 1.30pm having completed the rail trail in both direction and walking approximately 55km.
I would now like to take the time to thank “Gonefishen07” very much for the effort put into this fantastic series of Caches also the wide and varying types of Cache containers and great camouflage.
There was Lots of great hides which were good and easy finds as well as a few that had me searching for a while due to some very sneaky and clever ideas.
Most co-ords were very good which was very much appreciated because I often said to myself trust the GPS and then would find the cache bang on the co-ords.
I have also decided the hides are much easier to find during the day rather than at some ungodly hour of the night via torch light, though the trade off is I did not see a single Muggle at night yet the sections completed during the day I had to be careful due to lots of Muggles and their 4 legged friends.
I hope to return to pickup the few DNF’s soon although agreeing with some previouse logs some of the DNF’s I suspect have been Muggled or removed by recent works at the Cache locations.
Again thanks to “Gonefishen07” for a great series

Today was our second on the Bass Coast. After overnight rain, the clouds started to lift this morning and bright blue skies were enjoyed from mid morning. This was ideal for caching. Our main focus today was to hunt for as many Rail Trail caches as we could in the day. This cache took a minute or so to locate. There are tree houses and other tree houses - this was a very good version. The cache and its contents were in good condition. Thanks for a great cache Gonefishen07.
Our twenty-third find for the day! And a wild muggle appeared! Sorry for the joke was the first time in a long time we had spotted a muggle on the rail trail! TFTC Gonefishen07!
Not the tree house the kids envisaged. Kids wouldn't reach for it....just in case.
Back for another fun filled day on The Rail Trail with Pea bear. This time we biked it from the Wonthaggi end. We had a great day and a big thank you to Gonefishen07 for a wonderful series.
When we got to GZ we thought we had found it - not quite, but we were very close. Like the name of this one.

The plan was made to do more of the Rail Trail a week ago with BorisB&Natasha... Yay! today was the day.
Pumped up tyres, oiled chains and packed bags we were ready for a day of adventure.... or so I thought, about 15 min into riding my bike started having gear trouble! I haven't come all this way to turn around now so I was determined to continue on with my grinding chain.
32 fantastic caches were found for the day and only 1 DNF. Thanks Gonefishen07 for such an awesome series! the work and effort you have put into all your hides is nothing short of amazing.

Thought I Knew for sure where it was going to be....wrong. Another sneaky hide. Awesome.

Liked this one, found quickly TFTC. Lots of different types of caches on this trail good to see
Sully1 and I had a late start today and found a heap of caches on the island before getting to stage two of our bike run. All were great to find, and although there wasn't the variety of yesterday's bonanza, there was a huge increase in the difficulty ratings and the sneakiness factor.
Thanks again GoneFishen07, a wonderful series that we need to finish

Found with bogonghazy on Day 2 of our Long weekend assault of the area. The series was excellent, different from yesterdays stretch, which only added to the variety. My sincere thanks to Gonefishen07 for the work in getting this Series up and running and maintaining it so well. Definitely worth the trip down here, and we'll be back again to collect what we've missed this trip. Cheers, Leese
yahhhoooo another one found. GeoDad is having a better day than yesterday with his finds, clocking those finds. TFTC.
Day two on the trail and with a hire bike it was on the trail back towards Anderson. Had a great day collecting most of caches
Some great hides with lots of though and effort going into them. Had a great day and had me looking forward to the completing the rest of the trail over the next couple of days.
Thanks Gonefishen07.......great trail and good fun. (Most logs will be cut n paste, while some will have more detail.)

We found this cache on our May caching holiday to Phillip Island.
The area is really beautiful and we got on the bikes for over 50kms for the 4 days we were in the area which we would never have usually have done on a holiday before geocaching!
Thanks to the cache owners for the fantastic caches you have placed in this area of Victoria.

Found @ 4:20pm, find # 2117.
Out for a great day of caching along and around the Bass Coast Rail Trail, I was able to get most of them but missed a section in the middle as I ran out of time. Ended up with 102 finds for the day.
A short search at GZ and the cache was found.
Thanks to Gonefishen07 for this cache and all the caching fun.
