We thought this church would collapse if we gave it a little push.
Thanks for placing this cache xusia

Out for a cache drive around the Bunyas and heading back home to Kingaroy. This poor old church is definitely on a bit of a lean. TFTC
What a difference between the catholic & Presbyterian churches – catholic not mowed & Presbyterian nicely kept - TFTC / TFTH / SL
Found with taurus1955 after a drive around the Bunya mountains. A shame to see a church in this state. I wonder where the Catholics congregate now? TFTC
Talk about the leaning church of Cooranga - how much longer will those trees hold it up? Where do the people congregate now? It is sad to see such places abandoned after they have served the people so well. A very pretty place and an easy find of the cache with misschief18 during our trip around the Bunya Mountains.

Opps... Could we say this one is on a down hill slide. Thank goodness there are trees impeding the journey. Memories flooding around as I drive through this area. Years 1-7 at the local School. I Out caching again today with Muff1 team and having a ball. thank you xusia for your thoughtful placement of caches in Cooranga North. SL TNLN TFTC
Not at all sure how long this church s going to stay on it's stumps. The trees on one side are helping to hold the church in place. SL TFTC
Such a beautiful building deserves a better fate. It was a real treat to see thru the keyhole in the front door - so much beautiful timberwork. Here's hoping a saviour is nigh. Thanks xusia for bringing us here, Cheers, Bindair and The Princess.
Alas no more congregating here [:o]
Probably just in time too !!
If they filled this church one more time,
everybody had better lean to the left

It's a pity that Jimmyproject didn't wait two more days to collect this one.
The final ever service was held today, complete with the Bishop presiding over four baptisms.
The cache may need rescuing soon, so keep an eye on it xusia. I have been told that the church is about to be removed from the property!

Happy to spend another day out in the country exploring the surrounding areas and enjoying a day with family.
Amazed at the state of this church, would loved to have seen inside this one, also wonder if they hold any services in here (would they be allowed?).
Took a lot of photos and roamed around enjoying the day. TFTC.

Needs restumping is an understatement. Otherwise looks in good nick. Looks to have been sanded and painted not all that long ago.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Spent a bit of time looking for this one but the long grass and holes in the ground kept us on our toes! Didn't see any nasties but spiders. Couldn't resist not to take a photo of this precariously leaning piece of history!

Yay!! It only took me a month to get here. Unfortunately I was beaten to the FTF by someone who lives a lot closer, but I am happy with 2TF.
Warning for those who use a smartphone to cache (like me), there is pretty much no reception here, so you need your coordinates on a backup GPSr. I had loaded them onto my Etrex while in Dalby for the day, so the find didn't take long. The Geohubby then decided to take a photo of me "pushing the church over".
Thank you so much for this cache Xusia! I'm sorry we didn't manage to meet in person while I was in the area, maybe next time.

Quick FTF at 1440.
Saw this one on the published caches list the other night but did not start my 4 days off till today. I have to drive some distanc now to cache so a 140Klm round trip for two is not a big trip for me. Pleasant drive from Nanango to Kumbia then down towards Dalby then turn off onto the Niagra Road then make my way to the two caches at Cooranga North. I had to avoid the cows on the road and the Brown snake that wanted to cross right in front of me. The dirt section is a little hairy in one spot where a washout has not been repaired properly.
The building on top of the stumps looks like it wants to fall off when you notice the angle of the stumps.

When I read my daily update of new caches for Queensland this morning, I was so excited to see this one that I had to check it out immediately and call my anti-caching mother to give her something about caching to be excited about. I was actually baptised in this church as a baby (as was my brother) and my Grandmother's farm is across the road (although she now lives in Dalby and my uncle has taken over the farm). My mother grew up on the farm and attended school and church there. When I stayed with Grandma as a child I would walk over to the church with her on a Sunday morning and help her set it up, ready for Mass. I can remember that it had beautiful artwork on the ceiling above the altar that I would study during Mass (as young children do tend to have minds that wander ). Many of my favourite childhood memories are from Cooranga North, playing on the farm and going to New Year's Eve dances at the hall (how I miss those dances).
I can tell you for certain that the church is no longer used and it is highly unlikely that it will be restumped. The school, too, is now closed (and the old cheese factory, but that was gone before I was born, I think). I have been sad over the last ten years or so about how the community of Cooranga North seemed to be turning into a ghost town. Hopefully this cache will bring some new people to the area to enjoy the lovely scenery and think about the farming families who used to live in such places.
