Heading to Philip Island for a conference from Canberra. I left last night and slept in the back of the car for a few hours before continuing bright and early to maximise the time I had available to find a few high D/T caches along this stretch of beach. A quick find here. TFTC.

We headed here in the dark after finding the nearby Cem cache. The torches were a big asset as they actually picked up something glinting in the light before we even really started to look! Brilliant, because it was so, so cold..! SL TFTC

In Melbourne with Cravo10 to attend the Mega in Alexandra.

We took the red eye from Perth, leaving at 1am Thursday morning, and departed Melbourne early Tuesday morning, so it was a short five day trip.

We managed to snag a couple of nice stats for the trip. First mega event, 12 cache types in a day, 10 lab caches, 50th large cache find, and most importantly my 10,000th find at Mount Disappointment.

We spent the first day on a caching run from
Melbourne to Phillip Island where we had booked into the local caravan park for the evening. We cached all day chasing down a number of the whereigo and puzzle caches from the CF series, before ending the day caching the extremities of Phillip Island, where we had both never been, an amazing part of this country.

Next morning we cached our way to Alexandra which was the main reason for our trip to Melbourne as we had both never managed to attend a mega, which were hoping to rectify in WA next year! Attended the pre event and managed to get a couple of group FTFs by torchlight which was a real highlight.

Saturday we cached in and around Alexandra all day, chasing numbers, the highlight of the day would have to be the birdbox hides around Alexandra and the multi in Bonnie Doon from that famous TV show, a real nice touch!

Sunday was an epic caching day, chasing down 12 types in a day, which required a couple of huge drives to claim some of the rarer icons around. A huge caching stat which is a very rare feat in the Southern Hemisphere. We finished the day travelling to Mount disappointment where we found Melbourne's 1st cache and then started making a dent in the powertrail, finishing by torchlight.

Our last full days caching was spent at Mount Disappointment to chase some big numbers and with a few caches around the burbs for good measure.

Special thanks to all the wonderful COs around Melbourne for their brilliant caches, and to the mega committee for organising a ripper event, hope to be back next year!

17-Nov-17
On a 6 day tour of Victoria with Barnzy12. Taking the red eye over from Perth we managed to visit some great places. The main reason for the travel was the Mega event in Alexandra and the opportunity to find 12 cache types in a day.

We originally travelled to Phillip bay, then up through the country side to Alexandra. Spent a few nights staying high in the snowfields and then moved over to Mt Disappointment. We then ended up back where we started returning the hire car at the airport to fly home.

Some quality caches were found all over the state, great to get a real range of cache sizes with some very large caches compared to what’s available in WA and the range of D/T options so close to each other was a bonus.

Thanks to all the Cache owners for you placements and creativity put into hiding and have awarded a few fav points based on this or the location it bought us too.

Replaced cache and added a rock stone log so should be able to handle a little moisture.

Took a little while to find this one and had to resort to reading previous logs which I did while waiting for a muggle to walk past.

Log to soaked to extract let alone sign.

Thanks Gonefishen07

Since moving from New Zealand I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
The caches I’ve found in Australia so far have for the most part all been in great condition. Keep up the good work.

A very long day was had with SimsFamily and Neville Devil with a very cold start that turned into a fantastic day enjoying the Bass Coast with stunning views and wildlife.

We searched high and low here scratching our heads, I walked past GZ a few times until Neville spotted the hide. Log is full and very wet, needs some TLC.
Log Signed and replaced as found.

Thanks for the Cache Gonefishen07

Day three of my Victorian Caching Adventure. Time to get put the bicycle I’d hired to work and explore the Bass Rail Trail. I left the bike at my motel and drove out to Anderson parked there and caught a bus back to Wonthaggi so I only had to cycle the one way. A great ride I’d recommend to anyone. The caching along the way was a bonus really. I had a reasonable good hit rate and found most of the ones I looked for. Cheers and TFTC

KAKAGA Mark 2: Kate And Kelly's Amazing Geocaching Adventure is happening again because we're free of children, chores and work! Hurrah! A trip down to the coast was organised with the New Years events and rail trail in mind and ended with a count of: one emergency department visit, one headbutted tree, one muggle asking if we were looking for drugs, endless swarms of flies, many scratches, one sunburned shoulder, one milestone 1000th cache, great meals, good company and 66 caches.

A quick find was had of a familiar container and we were off again on our bike ride back to the car in Wonthaggi. TFTC Gonefishen07

08-Jan-17
This weekend marked the second of the much anticipated KAKAGA trips (Kate and Kelly's Amazing Geocaching Adventures). Mummy Short Legs and I were both very excited to be given the opportunity to spend almost two full days together with nothing but a vehicle, our bikes and our GPSs for company. We were not going to let soaring temperatures or bucketloads of flies stop us, we were going to cache our way around the Inverloch/Wonthaggi area till we dropped (or until the geohusbands begged for our return at least!).

Coming prepared with bikes we hit up the rail trail on our second day of KAKAGA#2. Approached this one on our homeward journey and due to time restraints and decreasing energy levels we were sticking with smaller search time limits so this one fit the category nicely. A quick find it was. Poor log is a little wet but we signed it and tucked it away again as best as possible. TFTC GF07

Found today whilst out on the geobike. Started this series two years ago and have finally got back. Thanks for the fun and exercise. TFTC

We eventually found this camoed cache tucked in. The log is very wet.

In the area on bikes with The Tritonz with the aim of completing the Rail Trail. The grass was very, very long in many places. Fortunately we did not see a snake...I am not sure how as it was a very snakey kind of day. Thanks GF07, it is a brilliant picturesque trail that gave us the opportunity to see another very pretty part of Victoria.

Initially the GPS had us going in circles, but it soon settled down to a good GZ and we saw something out of place. Still enjoying our ride down this trail with Rhodie67 and Rexey 41 - rain is in light drizzle stage. TFTC.

17-Jan-16
The days has heated up a bit now, the flies are extreme friendly too. Cache hunt is going very well but some DNF have been collected also. There has been a lot of work gone into this trail by the COs , so a huge thank you.

10-Jan-16
A clever little camo that was well hidden. Log signed and safely back in place.

Find #1789 logged at GZ at 9:58 am. Tricky little thing, then I lost the cap. Took longer to find that than the cache.. T4TC !

27-Nov-15
Down Wonthaggi today with the boys, 88Andy88, Pacman and the Geomutt Bentley Parker. With a few days between jobs, today was my first day on mini caching holiday. Up from Geelong bright and early to once again tackle the dunes and get some DT for my 4th loop.

Conditions were windy however we all agreed much better than a hot day. Saw some awesome sights, including a seal on the beach (which Bentley luckily didn't see). Not to mention a spectacular array of caches, that had us repeatedly praising the CO!

A quick grab in the rain here before getting back to the car. Took a lot longer than we thought but glad we got there!

26-Nov-15
Jacko83 and I decided we would cache up together and hit Wonthaggi and grab some decent D/T rated caches and get me out of the house for a day after having some minor surgery and being housebound and unable to drive for a few more weeks , so started the day early from my place and upon his arrival he had Pacman with him to join in the fun. Car packed the amazing Bentley the geo crazy mad extremely energetic geo dog loaded and we were ready to find some great caches :
Hitting the dunes times......We all cursed the winds but loved the views and the geo Bentley dog went nuts around the whole area.....We could not praise the CO enough on the effort put into the cache containers the challenges and the hides....The history and the novelty was nothing less than TOP QUALITY CACHES .....Some cruel , some easy but most amazed us.....
AWESOME ....
This was the first point today we got a little wet from rain but only on our trip back to the car to continue on caching....
This find was amazing and well done....Great effort....

Thanks for the caches !!!

26-Nov-15
This was a great day of caching around the Wonthaggi beaches and sand dunes with Jacko83, geomutt Bentley and 88Andy88. A scenic area, a cool day, creative caches, great hikes - altogether a top caching experience here.

This was the first and only Rail Trail cache we managed to do today.
It took us quite a while to find it, and we signed the log just as a downpour started. Fortunately we were close to the car.
I'm looking forward to returning here to cycle this whole trail.

Thanks for all the top quality caches we were able to experience today, Gonefishen07 Smile .

17-Nov-15
Still thinking about the lure of the beautiful beach behind us, we arrived at gz for another game of hide and seek. After a couple of minutes I spotted something that wasn't quite right, and sure enough, we had the tricky little bugger. Log signed and cache returned, we are on our way again. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.

Day two of my trip down to the Inverloch for some caching.

The first part of my day today consisted of riding the rail trail from Wonthaggi to Kilcunda picking up as many Rail Trail caches as I could. My weapon of choice was my brothers cycle-cross bike so I could give it a go, with the decision to leave my road and mountain bike at home.

After having a bit of a sleep in to 7am this morning to catch up on some sleep, I quickly had breakfast and headed off to park at Wonthaggi to start the ride.

Between the hours of 08:00-15:00, I was able to get to Kilcunda and back as well as complete 44 of the 50 rail trail caches that I set out to do, (6 DNF's due to not being able to find them and not spend to much time there or due to muggle activity).

I was very impressed with the variety of caches and different cache hides along this part of the Rail Trail. I ended up spending a lot more time looking for caches then riding as quite a few of them were a challenge to find!

The forth DNF along the rail trail so far. I spent a few minutes at GZ but after getting some sore hands sorting through prickles, it was time to keep moving.

Thank you Gonefishen07 for the effort put into these caches, had a really fun ride.

21-Sep-15
by the time we got to this one, the rain was getting heavier, the wind was still howling and our hearts DEFINITELY were not in searching so we spent a little bit of time hoping we would get lucky, but that was not to be the case. As the rain got even heavier and it was quite a walk back to the car we decided it was time to give up and head back to the car as quickly as possible. By the time we did reach the car we were very wet. We headed home for a change of clothes and a cuppa. Will have to attempt this one in the better weather.

Another cool cache container. Needed a little extraction tool (tweezers) to retrieve the log. Tftc

26-Jun-15
On a weekend visit from Geelong, I thought I would grab a few rail trail caches while out and about enjoying the sights. Some were easy, others took longer to find. The variety of cache containers and the different types of hides was mind boggling. It is always a pleasure to cache with accurate co-ords and all of the hides were spot on. I couldn't believe just how hides many there are on the trail. It will take a few more visits to knock these off !! I can't wait to return. TFTC Gonefishen07. Big Grin

25-Jun-15
It took 3 grown men to find this one, but eventually they had it in hand and we had it signed.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the hide.

On a very windy day it was nice to find one not too far from where we parked. I can't believe I missed this the last time I came past.

21-Mar-15
Up early and drove to Wonthaggi and caught the V/line Bus to Kilcunda, so we could walk the 13km+ back again, picking up a few caches as we went. We gave ourselves limited time at each cache, or so we thought until we realised the pocket query for these caches had missed quite a few and we passed many that we had in our book, but not on our Garmin - not happy about it but we cannot do anything when you're on the rail trail and away from services.

The rail trail was as busy as any you'd ever see in the big smoke, bikes, walkers, even a cycle club passed us twice during the day, making caching a difficult task at times.

The caches we found were easy, some we didn't try for due to long grass etc, plus others that we knew were there.

This log was quite wet, tried signing, but took a photo.

Found on a bike ride up the rail trail, good hide, nice camo ; ) TFTC log wet

15-Jan-15
We were staying in Korumburra for a couple of days with The Drovers with the main gaol of completing this rail trail and also hopefully picking up a few challenge caches.
Today started off windy and rainy but at least the rain held off long enough for us to do the first leg. On the plus side there were no muggles to worry about as we only passed one other person on the entire track.
We had a fantastic time finding some unusual containers and with only one DNF we can say what a ball we had today.
Many thanks Gonefishen07 for not only the trail but for all the work and effort that you have put into the hides.
We apologise for the generic log but are leaving a favourite point on each one to show our appreciation.

15-Jan-15
Met up with Team Crackers for 2 days, to tackle the Rail Trail and a few local caches.
With the threat of rain, we headed out on the bikes.
We found a good variety of hides, with the odd one being a little tricky.
This is a fantastic trail, and we award each one a favourite point.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Gonefishen07, for us and others to find.
