Logs
Although archived, of which i am strongly contesting, the cache is still in its location (post-movement and coords change) so anyone looking here wishing to find this cache, it is still in situ, on public land, so feel free to go searching, note: stay away from the 4WD track opposite the gatesas this is where some cranky old man has been harrassing cachers.

Hi
Having read all the logs including the archived ones and on doing some online research I respectfully disagree with the CO about the situation in regards to the location of this cache.
Someone has to own the gates and whether this is the man with the iron bar or not I will take it as gospel until it can be proved otherwise. The maps I looked at clearly show the boundary of the original block before the proposed subdivision is further to the east of the current GZ (Perhaps this 4wd track mentioned in one of the logs.) so I have to assume that the gates are on private property.
As a result this cache is archived as the 'owner' clearly objects to it being there.
To get it unarchived if you want to leave it on the gates you will have to provide some actual proof that it is not on private property or alternately obtain permission to place the cache on the gates.
Regards
John

Darkath11, your cache needs to be moved away from the gates or removed. I was approached by the property owner with a metal pole! That doesn't count as sooking that counts as fearing for my wellbeing and thankfully I had a man with me who could calm the owner down. He told us to get it moved because he was not happy with it being there. Captain Terror posted a needs maintenance log outlining the guidelines and the problems surrounding this cache and instead of taking it on board you deleted it and called us sooks.
The cache was muggled a few weeks after we found it. It could have been the property owner taking matters into his own hands. Please act appropriately before something happens to another cacher. A man carrying a metal pole probably isn't to be messed with.

Net88 I a done with being civil, I will be blunt, the cache was moved well away from the first location, away from the land this man supposedly owns. Anyone still having troubles from this maniac has every right to notify the police, i have lived in this plce all my life and its rediculous that anyone is out there living, the nearest house is at least 200 meters away on the opposite side of the IG estate.
And to get facts straight the 'sooking' wast the man threatening us, it was about people refusing to enjoy this location such as yourself and captan terror, and continuing to ruin my ex[erience as a cacher and hider in this location.
Do NOT complain to me if you are unhappy with this man and his metal pole, call the local authorities?
Even as a child we would all go to iron gates when we were bored and spend hours there, this person apparently in residence is VERY new, with all the problems with iron gates when it was in development it was put into the banks hands due to money owned, no one can afford to purchase and regenerate the site, in other words no one legally has the land or can legally live there, so lets all show initiative and do something about it maybe...
Thanks

As per some less than fun sooking recently regarding this Cache, I have also increased the difficulty to reinforce that the gate itself is the host for the cache and coords, to state this simply, the gate is set as the Coords and the gate is so large it spans a few degrees of coords, If you want an easy cache just to increase your found count then dont come for this one, any caches placed by Darkath11 are more challenging in one way or another to add further excitement to the GC experience.
I might remind fellow cachers that the cache would not have been published and listed if it didnt follow the guidelines set down for us.
Thanks

Hey guys, just checked up on the cache, everything is fine, i did however, MOVE the CACHE to the opposite breadth of the gate still the same distance from the Coords so they wont need changing, also to note, the coords are set at the centre of the gate simply to make it more challenging, you do not need to cross the gates.
Hopefully this should save cachers from that cranky old man and his metal pole. Thanks everyone.

When driving to this one noticed the bike track even though it is a bit over grown. The fairly new road I did not know where it would take me. The roundabout , drainage and kerbing has been put in. Who paid for all of this. Must have got stopped in a big hurry the development. Would have cost someone a lot of money. Why did this get stopped it would have been good for the town?
I made this cache very hard work. The gps was putting me in the middle of the road. Searched for a long time and was about to give up when I found it. There was no log book due to previous cacher finding the contents on the ground. I had a not pad but it was to big for the container. I put a piece of paper in it to sign and should be good for a while. Not sure if this is the correct location of the hide. The gps was out .a bit

Found this cache in vicinity of the correct coordinates but had been tampered with and contents & bottle where scattered everywhere .. Picked up what we could find, spark plug& little figurine, and hid again close to the right coordinates..
Hey thanks for the heads up Shazbone, ill check it out by monday, any animal tracks or anything around it, seems odd to have just been thrown about like that... thanks again

Attempting this cache turned out to be quite the experience. Net88 and I were enjoying the new sights of Evans Heads and working our way around all the caches in town. This one looked interesting and, hopefully, along a bitumen road. Driving down and having seen the satellite view, it is a curious area, a new estate that was never to be? We got to the promised massive gates and the hunt was on.
The co-ords had us on the other side of the gates and the GPSr was insisting that's where we should look. The gates were a metallic monstrosity and certainly not council built. Looking on the other side of them was not exactly inviting. We looked all around though. After consulting the cache page we agreed the hint was of no help and were beginning to think the difficulty rating should be upped a bit when I finally spotted the container, very close to what felt like the private property.
And then, as if on cue, a fellow appeared holding a long metal pole demanding what we were doing in the area. Net was looking rather intimidated and I was at this point, very glad to be male and 6'6" tall as I calmly explained to him that what we were doing is harmless. He cooled off and explained the gates were paid for by him and his boundary is the 4WD track to the left, the land to the west of it belonged to him and he didn't look too keen to negotiate. I would very strongly suggest moving this cache a little bit to the east, a bit further away from the private property and Mr. Looks Like He Might Get Violent. the cache, for us today was a few metres SSE of the co-ords (forgive my lack of alternate co-ords, I was a little pre-occupied) and just outside the fence, under an obvious log. Old, armed mate moved off and we hastily hopped into the car and planted it back towards civilisation. A memorable one, maybe for the wrong reasons, TFTC darkath11.

Found this cache whilst out enjoying a pleasant day over the border with Captain Terror on our way to a dinner near Lismore. The Captain pulled the car over and we jumped out and started searching for the cache. We couldn't seem to find it anywhere near coords (which were on the other side of the fence) After about 10 minutes I finally spotted the cache and as Captain Terror was crouched over signing the logbook I spotted a man walking towards us. Hmmm another cacher? No he has a metal pole. Umm Captain... Please do something. I backed off towards the Captain and he started explaining what we were doing when the man demanded to know. As soon as we were done we jumped in the car and waited for the man to move away before driving away. Thanks for the cache and the... experience darkath11
Very cunning hide. Had us going for quite a while ... until we looked around and spotted something not quite right ... Best clue is in the description. TFTC.
Found the cache stuffed full of interesting things! A bizarre place, eerily so. TFTC

Found it easy peasy. What a strange location? We look forward to researching the history/information.
The first thing we discovered here was the smell but that cast aside we looked for the cache. Nothing, nothing, yes that's surely something . . . it's a cache. TFTC darkath11 and thanks to GreenTearDropBottles for the interesting info about the Iron Gates. Took Lets go fishin TB, left some swaps.
This one took a bit of searching. Co-ords are not very accurate but eventually cacher's eye caught something that looked odd. Sure enough there was the cache. Shame about all the broken bottles and other rubbish around. TNLN SL

Just found my first cache. What fun!
On holiday from Scotland and thought I might as well start now.

Thank you!

beyond the iron gates is private property & the owners will get the shits if you go inside. it is not inside the gates but to the left a bit. coordinates aren't great.
WOW stunning impressive gates to no where .
easy find. left a few swaps for the kiddies , no water to speak of today so we the boat stays with us.

Yeay Our first Cache on our 4th attempt! had to stay of two lots of mugglers and just after we hid the cache the owner of the land behind the gates turned up. Nice Bloke! The land beyond the gates isnt a subdivision as maps makes it appear.....
The name 'Iron Gates' comes from the river not the big set of iron gates. There was a formation of Iron Rock in the river that stopped boats from going up the river so it was called Iron Gates. They blasted a channel through the gates so now you can get all the way to the levy just south of Wardell.

Drove in along this road for this cache. Even with the name of the cache we were surprized to see such large important gates out here. Perhaps they were put there in preparation for a new estate which hasn't come to fruition yet. It was very hot here today so fortunately we found the cache without too much time spent and added our signature to the log. No snakes spotted today - maybe it's too hot for them. Thanks for bringing us here darkath11, and for the smilie! [^][^]
Our last full day in Evans - time to cache with local geo-gangsta J-Vegas! What a strange place. After nabbing the cache we took the bikes into the estate for a squiz. Zita spotted a small snake and so Enzo just had to have a look too. The little fella got a bit excited and had a go at Enzo's pushy making the rider jump out of the way rather sharply! We also found a great pathtag in the cache - score! TFTC
Quick bike ride with Zita and Enzo for an easy find! Don't mess with the locals (snakes)!!
Yes I used a glass moconna coffee jar only because it has a tighter seal and in an area like this in Evans is safe to do so, and is much momre durable, in more-so urban / utilised areas plastic is a must, but this spot it seemed appropriate.
# 2508. This was the last one here at Evans Head before we headed back out to the Highway and south to Maclean. It certainly was strange to drive along a good road to nowhere. We spent a little time searching here before I spotted the container as we were about to leave. Not too keen on glass containers but it should be OK here. We hid it better before we left. Took: Iguana TB and Left: Flower Mask Pathtag. TFTC
Staying near Maclean, Bettyboo3747 and I travelled up to Evan's Head to grab one for the challenge. Did a few others on the way.
Now this is just a weird spot! Bike paths have been overgrown by trees, and the well made road just stops.
We looked at the gates for a while, the located the hide.
Thanks, Robmc.

Nice easy find on my way home from a weekend camping at Evans Head.

This took us longer than it should have. I think we were over thinking it. TFTC
A quick one on the way into Evans head to pick up some take away Thai.
Be sure to check yourself after visiting here. SJ walked away with a tick attached.

2nd find in Evans Head for the day. Fairly quick find. Saw a large goanna on the way in.

It took abit of searching, with the old co-ords being in the middle of the road, but we got there, just as the sandflies attacked!! Took goody, left goody.

Such a big wide road going to nowhere!! I wonder what used to be out here?
Well we arrived at GZ but my GPSr was pointing to the middle of the road. We started our search and decided to think, where would we hide it, and sure enough after a few minutes geowife found the cache.
The co-ords that worked for us today were S29 07.443 E 153 25.013
We though we spied the Fergs tailing us to the cache, so I took another side road to throw them off. looks like it worked for now.
Its always good to beat the Fergs to a FTF.
thanks darkath11 for the cache.

Always wondered where the iron gates were, this was where there was supposed to be a development and the developer had big court cases with the council,I think.Obviously the coucil won.Now we know where it is.TFTC.darkath11.
Correct FergClan, as well as having the greenies and the land's native owners on their backs which didnt help, imagine how different this area would be with 2x the population in Evans...
Just saw all the bad spelling and stuff in the details, ill fix them up as soon as school holidays start when ill have a bit of extra time on my hands.
