I have contemplated the future of this cache several times; after it being fully submerged in two separate flood events, after the neighbors attempting to scare away cachers with firecrackers, after reports of snakes at GZ. But, finding out that people have p#ssed in the container pushes me over the edge. Cache has been removed.
I hope to place another Fireflies cache soon in a different area. An area that I have also seen their amazing beauty. I hope people have better luck in that location!

I parked where the GPS was indicating and then looked for a route to the cache. Some considerate muggle has mown a track for some of the way. I just had to negotiate the steep part first.
From there it was a walk in the park and an easy find at the end.
I opened the cache to find, surprisingly, that things appear to be a bit damp inside.
Great little spot to hide a cache.

Had a look at Google earth for best spot to park and like most others parked in Drovers Pl near the storm water outlet. Walked down the rock towards the creek and headed towards GZ following compass on GPSr. Disturbed some Kangaroo's and looking across creek to the cemetery could see heaps more on the green manicured grass. Arrived at area near GZ and I was stumped, why because I could not see one. The green ground cover vine was all over it. Found this good sized container where it was supposed to be. Container dry and log is fine. Nice walk out and up the rocks to geo mobile. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Attempting to cross off a number of caches on this of the highway, I headed down through the suburbs to find a nice little pocked of bushland I never knew existed. Upon arrival, I was met with a small descent through some slippery plants. A neighbour advised me that all the "others" found it easier to climb down the waterway where there were rocks. Anywho, I made my way down, albeit clumsily, and started the search. It was almost the middle of the day, so no chance of seeing any fireflies. I did admire a group of kangaroo's over the other side of the creek though.
The cache didn't take too long to track down, nice to find something sizable too if I ever need somewhere for larger TB's

After trying to track down "sky" which was fruitless misssusan said I may as well get this one since it was close, she'd already found it, so we trundled through some very heavy bush but it was a beautiful walk, very mystical. A nice big cache hidden in a great spot. Tftc.

This cache has been on my radar for a while to provide an F for my animal challenge. I was near by today during the days so decided to take a crack.
It was raining so I slip slided down the bank and then immediately stepped in the drain run off. So I was already a little wet when I got to the creek. An then my phone was pointing to a stump in the middle of the creek...
So after deciding my phone was a little bit off I looked about and saw a more likely stump. The cache was quickly found and I signed up.

Stopped by after work, tromping through the mud and muck - great fun - good hide.
A huge thank you to Hiltonclan for verifying that the cache is there; safe and sound. I was unable to get down there this weekend, spending the time rectifying another cache of ours in a creek line.
I will pop down when I can to put in a tether.

Second one for the afternoon. After driving around trying to find a way in I found what looked like a good spot. I got down to the right area but it looked like this area has been under a lot of water in the last few months. But when I got to GZ the cache was there and dry as a bone. (Don't you love those ammo tins). Nice hide, didn't see any fire flys but I was a bit early. TFTC.

Will need to check on this one after all the recent rain. I think she would have been submerged again!
We are glad that the container was not flooded away with our TB "Deutschland" in it. Glad you could recover it! Thank you, heyfive
Wow. This cache faired better in the flood than I could have predicted. Despite being fully submersed, the cache did not come free. I think this is thanks to the camo applied to the top by recent finders.
Not only that, the container was bone dry inside. Everything is back and ready for visitors!!

Drove down to see the flood level yesterday, but could not get close to GZ. I think this one is almost certainly inundated and possibly floated away.
Will leave this disabled till I can get down and check it properly.

Found at around 4 in the afternoon, so missed out on seeing any fireflies, but got to walk along the creek for a while, so I was content. Found without too much trouble thanks to the helpful hint. TFTC 5Meerkats!
A beautiful spot fighting off suburban encroachment.
Thanks

Being the 12/12/12 I knew I had to make at least 1 find today.... I settled on 3 and this was first on my list For some strange reason the compass on my phone decided not to play nice so I had to use my geo-radar to work out where to look and as luck would have it, first place I saw happened to be its hiding hole Found with Gambler2000, D-Man2006 & my geobaby and muggle mother Swaps were made for the kiddies, travel bug was left for some more adventures and cache replaced
found during the day, so no fireflies, only mozzies out for the slaughter

Found by Sunshine Toledo and Jinga2 at 2:10pm. Down the hill and through the bush to GZ. The cache was found quickly and the log signed. TFTC
Popped past on a maintenance run this afternoon. All good with this cache. Plenty of swaps still in the cache.
Daylight visit so no fireflies for me. I really like the hiding spot, it's a rather decent size that's for sure! TNLNSL, Cheers 5Meerkats
Sadly we visited during the day but it is still a lovely location. It would be just magical with the fireflies out at night. Nice to see a bit of water flowing in the creek and no bitey insects for us today . Thanks 5Meerkats
A day time visit for us. Having just had a cortisone shot in my wrist I let the others scramble down the hill and toward the cache. Very shortly they came back very pumped up and laughing, this is the nieces first ammo can cache, very excited. TFTC

Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
Goldielover and I had been looking at this one and waiting for an evening to present itself . Off we went with great anticipation we would see some fire flies. Arrived at GZ quite late. Turned out the lights and waited, waited, waited and waited. Oh well, looks like they were all asleep. After speaking with the CO it appears we may have been too late at night and dusk is probable the best time. Well try our luck again soon.

Found with stairman1, geodaughter and geodog. I told geodaughter we would show her some fireflies and she was quite excited about it. We headed out late tonight with geodog and parked up the road. We made our way down to the cache, turned our torches off and waited for the flies to do their show. But all we saw were 2 hare, a kangaroo jumping through the grass and a very angry snake who didn't appreciate being woken up Grabbed the cache and signed the log. While signing the log there was s huge bang which sounded like a giant fire cracker which scared the hang out of geodaughter. Was glad to get back to the car. Thanks 5meerkats. It was an adventure.

We parked nearby, and after a short walk down to the creek, we soon had the cache in hand. The creek was running nicely today, and was quite relaxing to sit by and enjoy the shade.

The rain stopped long enough for me to walk into this one.
No fireflies as it was still daylight but it is still a great little spot.
Thanks for the cache

I parked the car and made my way down towards the creek. I encountered 3 large kangaroo's on my way to GZ. It is a beautiful little spot here and a perfect place for a cache. I was a little early for the firefly but it it a very pleasant spot be none the less. TFTC
We happened to be 600m from this cache at dusk tonight. So we headed down to a reasonably close parking spot to head to GZ. Now as we tend to do, team
PJATPAC were terribly underprepared. Mrs only had fancy things on, nothing to keep the mozzies away from mr. At least the geologist had warm clothes on . The first descent was a little tough with mr 2 in arms, but we got there. It was easier from there. We have never seen fireflies before so we were hoping for a show. We thought it should be dark enough, but perhaps not. I think not knowing what to look for doesn't help. We tried a few different positions around GZ but no luck. Anyway, kids needed baths and Mr wanted to return with some blood still in his body . Found the cache pretty easily, grabbed the TB. Mrs carried miss 4 up the hill on her back, mr with mr 2 in arms. Back in the car to head home. TFTC 5 Meerkats

I needed to tick today off in my find calendar so took the opportunity to swing via this one enroute to Mt Ommaney. I pulled up in a street and the GPS suggested less than 100m to the booty, perfect... [^]
I hopped out and followed the drain down to a clearing, then followed the arrow and quite obvious geotrails. On arrival, I spotted the container in a likely place and extracted it for the typical business. All done, I dropped a couple of TBs into the tin and tucked it away. I tried in vain to find some camo to cover up the cache, but there is nothing around that fits the size requirements...
As I arrived back at the Gunniemobile, the resident of the nearby house (closest to GZ) came out and asked me what all the interest in the area by the creek was about. I showed him the GPS and explained that I was partaking in a game called Geocaching and I had gone down to the creek to find a cache... He was more than happy with my disclosure, having heard of the game. He did suggest that he would be worried about snakes as the weather warms up, to which I replied, we're a tough mob...
A neat little spot and it looks unlikely that they will block access by plonking a house on the vacant land...
Cheers 5Meerkats.

Came last night but could not find with power of iPhone light. A lot easier today. Great cache container!
I'm not sure of the annual event, but this was hidden on a blue moon, which is pretty cool. After class today made the 13km detour to this one on my way home. As I turned off the main road I remembered this place from a previous hunt. A few more streets and I was at the place my GPS told me to park. Initially I thought it's be bush bash o'clock, but I spotted a worthy path and I was off. A nice walk which ended near the creek and wow, what a serene spot hidden away. I watched the creek for a little bit before hunting for the cache. The hint got me to the right spot and I peered in and ah, I love them! Out came the logbook and in went my name. I've never seen fireflies before, so I think I'll definitely have to come here to this lovely spot again at night sometime soon. TFTC, enjoyed this one thanks 5Meerkats
Well, where to start with this one Meerkats??!!
Geodad was off on the FTF hunt today and had secured 10 FTF's in one day - reaching a mini milestone of 50 FTF's . Whilst he was out geomum was at home with the geokids. I received a message earlier in the day by Mr Meerkats asking if meerkat Geoson could come over for a play - on the pretense of the need for some tome alone to CLEAN THE GARAGE!! - i humbly agreed to help our friends up the road (oh yeah, and I need them to babysit while we pop down to Adelaide to score a million caches in a weekend soon ).
So Geoson was dropped off for a couple of hours having fun in the sun. We had arranged for the pickup time of around 1.30pm (the expected return of geodad). Mr Meerkats arrived to pick up son, we partook in a friendly chat over his previous night's caching adventure, had a few laughs and then we said our goodbyes - seeya! That's it.... Hmmm...
Anyhooo, 15 minutes later, beep beep beepity beep my phone is notifiying me of a release 1km from home and oh, who is the CO... Oh you meerkats!!! Quick text sent of WTF? No tip off, hint... Nothing??!!
Nope, nothing... It gets worse, the meerkats call me and let me know they had only planted it that morning whilst I was watching their child!!! - oh, tThe hid!! So much for cleaning garages with geodad still driving home from his hunt we were sadly out of the FTF hunt.
Geodad arrived at GZ yonks after Teamtinda (congrats!) and happily met up with irony9 and trickyt (lovely to see you both).
Cache was found with an abundance of booty (luckily for the trashies Benny was not in attendance). Can't wait to bring the geokids here - and check out the fireflies!
TFTC 5Meerkats - favourite point for just being you!!!

Well this is not my normal hunting ground for caches or for chasing an FTF, but a muggle family luncheon had me over this way. Sitting talking with the family it had come up at how obsessed I was with geocaching some muggles will just never understand. So when the notification came through for this cache I was a little put off at leaving straight away. Can't be all obsessed now can I. So sitting listening to the family ramble on the urge to leave became stronger..... ARGH! Can't take it any longer..... Must go chase FTFs!!!! Saying a quick goodbye to my not so understanding family with an excuse of something or rather I revved the monster truck and was away. I arrived in the caching area and grabbed mini munchkin out. She was happy to be out and about going for a walk. We found GZ and with a short search soon had the cache in hand. I soon saw that I had been beaten to FTF by another local cacher but not by very long. Oh well, still had a lovely walk to the cache and another smilie for my obsession map. Left butterfly.

This location is special to me also, having kept my horses here at the local Pony club pre-development days. I can attest to the fireflies, having camped just upstream many times when younger and I am thrilled someone has hidden a cache here . It was a fun cache given that I had my nieces and daughter with me having just had a serious outing-at-the-movies FAIL and we ran into geosapiens when we were parking which made for awesome company given he had just been FTF on about ten of my newly released caches so was able to give me feedback. We were also lucky enough to run into TrickyT who was also having adventures of his own! (We ran into cachers at the next cache too and while all this was happening people were running about Parkinson finding a newly released series - so seems like everyone must have been on the hunt today which is great to see). Loved the container and the hide and the kids were incredibly impressed with the swaps. I had left ours in the car which they werent so impressed by but I told them we would pop back for a visit another time which placated them. So on to the next cache, thanks so much for this one!
Only learned how to set up notifications last night so was quite pleased to see it working with this one coming up today. Off I dashed with geo-junior as navigator. GPS had us hopping back and forth but soon honed in on GZ. We were the third to sign when geo-junior could hear another party approaching. A quick rehide and depart so as not to spoil the hunt for the new seekers. What a pleasure to meet fellow geocachers, Irony9 and Geosapiens. Some shared sweets and then back to the car only to discover new and expensive perscription sunnies missing! Bugger, a slow walk back to GZ, hoping no one steps on them. Thank God, found in the grass and alls well. A second good-bye to the other parties and off for another cache down the road. A great spot, a great cache. Thanks 5Meerkats
*FTF* at 2.57pm. Aha: other local cachers occupied elsewhere meant a strong opportunity here. I hurtled over and headed for a spot I've been to on more than one occasion now. Wandering to the edge of the scrub, I wondered if I was going to have to do some serious bushbashing, but thankfully a clear trail appeared and I walked fast, dodging vines and branches, jumping over the creek then realising that was wrong, so jumping straight back and continuing along the bank. There's still plenty of junk here from past floods but not so much as to make it look like a tip. The final GZ came up quickly and I did a couple of 360s to confirm the most likely spot before making the grab. Yay, the old blank logbook and lots of loot ready to swap, kids!
Really sorry not to be here at dusk today: shall have to return. It's still an awesome spot right now with the creek flowing rapidly and noisily.
I came in from Brumby Circuit along the creek, but decided later Drovers Place looks like it has a much closer access point. Still plenty of houses around so need to be careful not to attract attention.
TFTC 5Meerkats!
PS long arms may be handy for cache retrieval or a small person could even be lifted down perhaps.
