How evil! What an enigma! How excruciating!

Did find a dog-toy, though. Little bell in it and all. Yay!

02-Dec-19
Back to have another go at this one with a better GPS. Good signal but I was still about 10m off as my GPS was telling me it was on the new adjacent driveway.
Found with the help of the clue. Log quite wet but writable.

Couldn’t get a decent signal under the trees. Had a good look around with no luck. Wife calling me home to make her dinner!

#6018. I am down in Dunedin for the weekend. Had a work meeting on Thursday and Friday and decided to stay on to do some geocaching. So have hired a rental car. Today I am mostly going to walk the tracks up around Flagstaff Peak. But picking up several caches on the way. This was the first of them. There is a house being built in the adjacent property. But found the track into the park. Nice forest remnant. Soon got to the GZ and the hint helped me to narrow down the options. Fairly quick find. It was a bit damp inside the container but the logbook is still OK to write on. Signed and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here Woody104.

03-Jun-18
Well, wasn't that fun by torch light. KR and I went around in a few circles before I stumbled upon it, I'll go for the luck option here. Cheers

03-Jun-18
A quick and easy find, in the dark. Maybe that helped. Thanks

Kiwi Moose is in town too, so we headed off for a spot of night caching!
Queens Birthday weekend. Lets celebrate with some time in Dunedin. Today we travelled south.

Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.

28-Apr-18
A bit of traipsing around in the rain. Not as tough as we expected!

03-Apr-18
Having read the description I was thinking I was in for a bit of a hunt but like the previous finder I discovered it out in the open. Covered a little before departing. Love this little reserve. TFTC

07-Feb-18
Quick drive by after work to fill in a dot day. Took a few minutes but once in the right place spotted it out in the open. Signed log and replaced with a bit more cover. TFTC

29-Nov-16
Wohoo, finally turned this from a blue to yellow face and filled in the last of the dot days that I can this year.

This time the GPS with only a small amount of encouragement took me straight to the right hint spot.

Cache container and log in good condition.

10-Jul-16
Was not what I was expecting but ok. Had been here once before and had no luck. But today I was lucky and found it. So TFTC

17-Jun-16
I have been attemtping this for 18 months. I must have been in there at least 10 times. Many times I drove past I would pop in and give it a go. Finally, today, the penny dropped. And an ?unrelated hint object made me have a good look in a particular spot. Sure enough, there it was! Oh that poor eclipse container! Big Grin

26-May-16
Enjoying holidaying in the area with tmann421.

A nice quick find for us here today. TFTC

26-May-16
On holiday geocaching through the area with Just-Lookin.
Another one pretty quickly found on the drive around.

Think this one must have been harder in the past.
*Thanks for the fun find!*

A quick grab en root to the daily drudge, made livelier by virtue of our 2000th find! (had to snigger at the contents of the container, too). Thanks Woody, and all the other COs who have enabled our addiction Smile

Thanks Woody104

After a great lunch event it seemed like a good idea for Papa to go and find some caches with Guwapo's Uncle Granville and the Chosen one.

Not at all what Papa was expecting. He was truly distressed at the fate of the esteemed Eclipse tin.

Salamat

31-Dec-15
Nice walking through the bush on a hot day with Granville86a and Guwapo's Papa, lovely bush walk thanks for bring us here

31-Dec-15
Found with Chosen1978 and Guwapo. A bit of a search in the bush and cache soon located. Had expected some completely different so slightly dissappointed on the final container. The CO might have to consider changing his description to suit the cache condition.

28-Dec-15
Ha - I wondered what this was about as I ventured into the bush. The native fushia trees are pretty weird. Found the cache after a short search and thought someone had really seen all they wanted of Eclipes containers! TFTC

04-Nov-15
Dnf here. Widened search. Still found nothing

30-Sep-15
Found with a hint from Eve07.

22-Aug-15
Found it after a bit. Shame there is so much garden rubbish thrown on this site. TFTC Smile

17-Jul-15
Coords were spot on for me and it was found very quickly. The usage of the eclipse container was . . . interesting. Thanks Smile

15-Jul-15
I had never explored this bsh before. luckily with me was someone who had found this cache on an earlier occasion so I got the odd nudge along which sped up the time to make the find. Nice outer container.

27-Jun-15
Being close to the ground, the SSC found the cache quite quickly. All nice and dry. Thanks.

19-Jun-15
Time was not on my side this morning, but I gave the area a once-over anyway. After searching for fifteen, maybe twenty minutes, I resorted to the hint and past logs and found it in about two minutes flat. What a cute container - certainly didn't see that one coming Razz Cheers Woody!

26-Apr-15
Tftc yipee thanks got it this time

26-Apr-15

08-Nov-14
Fun cache. Took us a while as gps was jumping around. Tftc

31-Oct-14
GPS really didn't want to co-operate but it was still a quick find with Caiktin & Geomum.
TFTC! Wink

31-Oct-14
Found out caching with Geo Jessie, GPS was all over the place but we eventually come up with the cache.
TFTC!

11-Oct-14
Looked for a while, and could tell we were close (found what we knew was a part of the cache - hope it hasn't been muggled), but weren't keen to go digging too much with all of the dodgy-looking rubbish around. Shame, because we had good memories of finding the previous cache in here, and thought this would be fun for the kids.

08-Sep-14
Arrived despondent having been plucked, gutted and barbecued by the 'Smoking Eagle' nearby. But GZ was spot on! and Woody's version of a mint tin is to be applauded. Lovely to revisit this reserve and the spring birdsong was superb.

21-Jun-14
The new coordinates were spot on. Led me straight to GZ and a couple of likely hides. Found a container but it wasn't quite what I had been expecting. But what devilish tomfoolery is this . . . ? Log eventuality located and signed. Took Jeep TB. TFTC you evil man Smile

14-Jun-14
Very cool cache! Smile

31-May-14
After a previous failure, this time the new coordinates took us straight to the cache, and after playing around for a while, we had a logbook in hand. TFTC

21-May-14
Nicely done! Thanks.

20-May-14
TFTC FINALLY WELL WORTH ALL YOUR EFFORTS THANKS

16-May-14
Had scored a DNF on this one before and was pleasantly surprised to lay a hand on the enigma quite quickly this time. Signing the log took a little longer though. Took geocoin and left TB. Found with debsnz

15-May-14
Thanks for the updated co-ords because they were spot on for us. The cache is aptly named and nearly had us using some bad words to describe the CO but a bit of perseverance paid off to ensure we came away smiling. Found with Aoraki Sheep.

04-May-14
Dropped off Geocoin.

03-May-14
Had a good hunt around but the GPS kept jumping and too many places to search in the time I had allocated.

03-May-14
Coordinates changed from:
S 45° 51.705 E 170° 28.752

Coordinates changed to:
S 45° 51.714 E 170° 28.751

Distance from original: 54.9 feet or 16.7 meters.
Went back for a look. Took several fixes. Hope this one works out better. I've also added a photo hint.

25-Apr-14
I'll be back
on a 2DNF and 2 find day while the girls were at Rio2. TFTC

29-Mar-14
This has been on the 'to-do' radar for a while and we arrived full of hope for a successful find. GPS indicated one area but hint suggested about 12-15m away. Investigated a large area but came up empty handed. Might need to resort to hassling the CO for a further hint Wink

20-Jan-14
No go on this one either. Two in one day not good Sad, but enjoyable afternoon with Doully anyway.

20-Jan-14
Spent a bit of time looking for this one. GPS all over the place with the trees. Previous clues indicate a good hide over a large area. Will have to go back for a better look another day

18-Jan-14
Found at 10:30:00 a.m. on 18/01/2014.

Back today and found after a few minutes of wandering - like the previous logs this was 10m or so from indicated GZ.
Nice concept.

After a short search, we read the previous logs, and realized this wasn’t going to be a standard eclipse search. We changed our search tactics accordingly, and also widened the search area, but unfortunately still left empty-handed. We’ll keep an eye on this cache.

14-Jan-14
I didn't have too much time available this morning - lots of places to search so I had no success this time

I'll be back...

11-Jan-14
Well this certainly lived up to its' name. Ventured forth and met someone else lurking amoungst the ents, great to meet and share the hunt with Rabbie.
After having been lectured by a local of the dumping and anti firewood measure in place we cast the net a bit wider and voila! what a great use of these tins in the wild. After laboriously trying to find the log Bitsprayer masde a suggestion and low and behold he was right again!
Thanks for a lot of fun.
erninz

11-Jan-14
Found this morning - or at least I was there when it was found. I was on my second visit, and had been poking around for half an hour when three others turned up, so I watched the experts at work for once. It was finally found, on the edge of a fairly large circle I might add. Thanks Guys, and to Woody.

11-Jan-14
Arrived at GZ for my second visit with Bitsprayer and Erninz. Meet Rabbi at GZ and the hunt was on. Erninz eventually located the container right on the fringe of our search area. Thanks Woody for the hunt and surprise. TFTC

11-Jan-14
Many Thanks for the cache, Most I have done in a day for at least 8 months. - Bitsprayer

06-Jan-14
[Pretty much what I had expected to find. In fact, probably easier than I thought it would be! At least this cache is set up to avoid my biggest objection to Eclipse containers-] they're not watertight! [TFTC]

30-Dec-13
Took a leisurely approach to this one, and cased outthe area first for ttreasures of a different kind.
I was very glad I did, as I had an unusual find.- photo to follow later.
The cache- yeah, right! Thanks Woody!

I should have been a starter for the FTF but missed the notification whilst battling to start our boiler, in the middle of 'summer' (sigh). Either way, had a Hal hour window to get a cache and keep my streak alive so had a go at this one. Mercifully it was much more straightforward than expected despite the sopping wet greasy bush. TFTC - keeps the streak alive at 26 days, equal now to my previous best.

26-Dec-13
We were going to keep this to be our "100th day in a row cache", but we had to change plans when we saw the amount of water pouring out of places water shouldn't pour, when we went to our planned cache. Found with Lollipopcat and Spydude13.Kia ora for the cache Woody

Fun FTF with Hinemoana, Honey.Badger, dakotacats and fluffyduck38 probably wouldn't have found this one by myself since the GPS was pointing about 10 metres away

The notification of this cache came out as we were visiting the olds (fluffyduck38) so we were all off out the door at record speed. We pulled up at near gz and could hear others in the bush. Sure enough Hinemoana and Tunfisk had bet us to it... but wait, they were still searching. So the searching continued with all six of us and it was the junior dakotacat who eventually yelled out "Found it" and then the games began. Evil eclipse containers for sure. But they didn't fool us for a second...well maybe a few seconds. A joint FTF at 9.12pm. Cheers for the cache Woody and a Merry Xmas for tomorrow!

24-Dec-13
I was enjoying a Christmas Eve at home when the call to duty went out. The Dakota Cats arrived and bustled us out the door and off to a secret locaton and to a just published cache. There was a car parked nearby that surely belonged to another cache seeker, so the race was on! A bit of a scramble amongst dripping trees and out came the call "found it" It was Junior DakotaCat who had unearthed the cache. Two other cachers converged and we soon had the prize to hand... a joint FTF shared between four cache seekers. How interesting our Christmas Eve had become.
