14 July 2024 10:32amCassow11ry and myself had planned on a day out today to celebrate something important...as a last minute we had the addition of two geokids who were meant to be away, but weren't. (For some finds, it was good they weren't as Miss 13 had really sharp eagle eyes today!!) We targeted in and around Toowomba.End of copy paste:After some confusion as to whether we had completed the one with this name or another with a slightly different name, we got our bearings and realised we hadn't come here, so headed on over and started the search....far and wide, up and down, in and out and around suspicious piles. The log wasn't found though. One member found something that may or may not have been part of a cache. I found a lizard that I almost put my hand on thinking it may have been a cache guardian (I'm still not entirely sure that the lizard was real, so if this was the cache guardian and I've accidentally just given a spoiler, Brother Colin please message me and I will adjust my log).In the end, we couldn't make the find and walked away a little disappointed. This was a nice memorial, and it was good to discuss this a little with the kids as Miss 13 was born during those 2011 floods.
I hate claiming DNF's, just saying.. lolAll 4 of us spent quite a bit of time looking here and there, trying to embody Brother Colin and his tricky brain. We found this and that, Privatears assuming wildlife to be a cache container (leave the poor lizard alone Privatears!!) however still came up with nothing so with a heads hanging low we decided to call it only be be tormented on several occasions as we had to drive past this spot I think about 3 more times today!#email sent to CO_____________________________________________________________Out about today with Privatears + 2 with the goal of heading to Toowoomba to get some highly loved caches. Seems Miss 13 had exceptional caching abilities today as she almost automatically found so many caches today!3 of 20 today; traditionals, mailbox, multi-cache, mystery, earthcache and virtual.#872
Out and about with TBU1BIKESU and GS1947 after an event on 3/2/24 for more smilies. Tftc Brother Colin
We came today to join the TT Group hiking up Tabletop Mountain for an event up the top. It was the first time, and I enjoyed the views and the chats. After recovering and enjoying a lunch break, we tackled a couple of more caches up the range and then on our way home we stopped here. We found this cache, and signed the log. Thanks for the cache,Brother Colin
A great way to honour the flood victims. I still have hard memories of the floods and so this was an emotional cache for me. Great way to bring up my 150. TFTC
Wow, it's been seven years since I logged a DNF on this one and today was my first opportunity to return. Heading back down the hill from a couple of days work up there, I swung past as I travelled and unlike my last visit, focused my energy on a slightly different spot. Interesting, if not a little embarrassing, how I missed this location on the previous attempt. Sometimes you just get fixed on one spot and miss the obvious.
Much happier to now have my name in the log.
Cheers BC.

Found it. It is where you think it is and needed tools, and now it's easier to get of TFTC!
Looking again almost two years after our original search with no luck still. Please check if at original gz!
Another good find today.
Hopefully this one is in the Locker valley.
Thank you for this one

Another interesting memorial and a reminder to be flood aware. Arrived with music blaring 'we are the champions', accompanied by some singing, thought what a welcome by the locals! Alas it wasn't meant for us as they beavered away mending their fence line. So off we went to look for the cache.
After checking a few likely spots, had to go back over old ground and found the container in the first place checked. Another cache towards todays tally, thanks Brother Colin.

Out today gathering caches for a challenge. Lots of older caches, some fabulous views and of course my favourite, a cemetery or two. Brilliant planning by TeamARF had us collect all needed.
Looked all around but no luck and it was getting too hot to stay outside
Will come back another day and have a look

Relogging found caches under the name Bonkersandshush to my other accountGAZKERSH.Thanks.Nice quick find while caching in the area Thanks for the cache
Spent a bit of time searching and nothing to be found. I think this one may have been muggled.
Cache either needs to be replaced or archived - I'm confident it is not at original GZ
No luck. Checked all of the corner posts. Still cant find please check if still there.
Day 8 - Homeward Bound
Aquilus1, Tankengine and I drove from Bundaberg to Toowoomba today.
More counties were on the agenda to pick up with a couple of tourist spots as well. We met some more awesome people, ate some amazing foods and found a few good caches.
One highlight was that we discovered that the tree felling along some of the highway is being done for safety reasons. Statistically drivers die within the first 9m of coming off the road. So they remove the trees and you should slow down when you hit the dirt and hopefully wake up when you get to bumpy ground. You won’t stop in time to hit a tree, but the impact should lessen.
This cache: Quick straightforward find. Nice memorial. Tftc!!!

In the time we have been in qld we have seen lots of rain, flooding and levels of past floods of how high it gets. Crazy that so much water can cover an area... devastating the damage it causes. A reminder of the worse floods of the past.
Trip log: Day 8 of the 10 day Easter Queensland Trip with dty73 and Tankengine. As has been the way, covid threw things into doubt but we packed the car and headed off waiting to find the fate of the Dayboro Mega and if QLD would be the destination. On route to the north of NSW to stand by and wait... we got the news it was all go!
Having spent a few nights in Bundaberg under a welcomed sunny blue sky, a sure contrast to the wet days of the Mega, it was time to make our way southish. A selection of counties along the way with some sideways detours to find the ones we could get. Lots of bottle trees, prickly pear and a range of terrain but a lush green and scenic drive to Toowoomba. Dinner at the fire n ice restaurant at the southern hotel was great!

Thanks for hiding this cache Brother Colin

Very sneaky. Lovely memorial, the stone is so pretty.
So cool to have made it to the Mega now to get the caches we spent months solving and other nearby caches. On our way home now via Toowoomba.
On a trip north to get to Dayboro with Kittykatch, Isopeda and Barb2e. Been lots of fun and laughs.

my husband and I decided to go for a little drive from Brisbane to Gatton and beyond. what a nice little memorial this is. at gz I thought I knew where to look and I was correct . I love these types of hides. Thanks for taking us here and for placing this cache here for us to enjoy
Found whilst dodging the rain on a road trip from the ACT to QLD. Poignant but peaceful location...

Tragic history. I was on the Gold Coast when it happened. I remember it clearly. Friends were up here.

Final find for the day, to make 201 total caches logged!
However, this cache does reflect on a tragedy that effected the region almost 10 years ago. ️

The 2011 flood was such a significant event in the life of so many communities. TFTC
Grey nomads travelling around Australia in our caravan. Held up a bit due to Covid19, so currently in Queensland only, but there are plenty of caches in our home state that we have not yet found. Currently, doing a lap around South East Queensland, and we are house sitting nearby, so able to enjoy the festivities of the carnival of the flowers.
We attended the Chilli, Chocolate and Cheese festival close by, and maybe indulged in a little too much wine at lunch time in the heat, cos it appears to be warming up today (change from the last few windy days)
Found, but not with out the help of the ridgeback from across the road. Quite friendly, almost showed us where the hide was. Thanks Brother Colin for this quick detour

Thanks for bringing me here have been past this spot so many times and didn’t know this was here!
We remember seeing these floods on the news so clearly, and we had some family living further up on Murphys Creek Road. Their property became a river. Fortunately their house survived. At the time it seemed impossible that Toowoomba could have such major flooding.
It was lovely to stop at this memorial and reflect on that time in the history of Toowoomba and the people whose lives were lost.
Thanks Brother Colin.
A favourite added. Log signed.

Well looked after memorial never seen before this is why I like geocaching to find places like this
Found 15th April. Log full, managed to date but that's all. Defo needed the hint, good cache!
Had to abort finding a different cache as I almost ran face first into a spider . I’ll leave that one for another day so driving back we stopped at this cache to see if we could get at least one smilie. Almost got scared off again as I saw a bigger spider on the tree near GZ. Thankfully the cache was not near it and was able to make the find. The log was pretty full so scribbled in between other names. Tftc
TFTC! Took my grandparents out for a drive with my Mum to Helidon. Heading home we decided to stop off at this cache too! Thanks for bringing me here. Nice to pay my respects. So devestating those floods!
Today I had to drive from Toowoomba to a remote spot in the countryside near Somerset Dam. I did have time to stop and find a few caches along the way. Hard to imagine flood conditions given how dry everything is at the moment. A little time to pause and reflect and then the cache was in hand. TFTC, Biggles.
Accompanying Brother Colin today finding a couple of geocaches.
Looking here and there before finding the cache.
It will need a new log sheet very soon.
Thanks for the cache.

While on our way to Crows Nest to attend Rural Safari 2019, we stopped here to find this cache. A quick find and paid our respects to those people who were affected by the floods.
Found on 2 August 2019 at 2.52pm. TFTC, Brother Colin.

After finding a nearby cache, I headed to this one. Nice to see a memorial to those who passed on that horrible day.
A muggle friend of mine has a sister who lives at Grantham. I spent a lot of time there after the floods, helping them clean out and recover a few treasured possessions from the house that was to be demolished. Several memories of those days are burnt into my brain.
After paying my respects at this memorial, I quickly located the cache and signed the log. TFTC

EatAllThePie & I were on a caching trip to Toowoomba this weekend, so on our way back to the Coast we decided to grab a couple more caches.
Thanks for showing us this, Brother Colin! I remember wanting desperately to help with the clean up when these floods happen, but I wasn’t quite old enough to be allowed. It’s good to see there’s a memorial in place to remember those who were lost.
Cache quickly found, signed & returned, then off we went back home. TFTC!
This was find #20 of 28 on our Toowoomba Trip.

Thanks for the cache!! Never would have found it without hints from the log, glad I took a second search. Beautiful spot for a cache.
Time to log some caches, unfortunately, there is a few so this is a generic log... we came, we saw, we found, we logged, thanks for the cache!
What happens to illegally parked frogs?

Last cache on my way home after attending QOGM18 in Barcaldine and showery weather made stopping difficult so turned this one into a Smilie and headed home. TFTC
It's always nice when caching takes you to a spot of significance or remembrance. I remember the flood event but was never really quite sure exactly where it occurred.
After turning off the highway for another cache we continued on down the road to collect this one before making the drive back to Redcliffe. Before I started upending the memorial I checked out the hint so as not to trounce on anything unnecessarily.
My first corner was busted but the second OK. tftc
