Cool old house.
Cool old house.
Came down to Oamaru to finish off a few on the A2O. A bit of spare time afterwards so ducked around on the back road to find a few more. TFTC.
A planned geocaching trip with specific targets in mind.
1: The final 2 caches to fill my D/T grid
2: The last 5 caches available (all in the South Island) to meet the NZ Jasmer challenge GC4R9Z6
3: Get as many caches as possible in a day (Solo)
I had no timetable and only a vague route (Christchurch - Dunedin- Invercargill). So after 20 days of sleeping in my tent/car I arrived home having traveled 4500km and visited some interesting places. Met some great people. I had found over 650 caches. That was a lot of park. Jump out out. Find cache sign and return. Then on to the next. All this done by myself. Also attended an event and had 2 FTF
Mission 1 and 2 were achieved and I had a best day of 153 caches. All this done by myself.
Day 14 Herbert Forrest to Waitaki 51 caches found today. Missions completed by now so caching my way back up the island. Nobody home today. Thank you for the placement

I had parked my snail shell up iin Oamaru at the A&P Showgrounds so that I can find a few caches to fulfil my personal challenge of having my GC.COM calender a set shade of green. I need to sign off 7 caches today.
The colour is a bit more like off-white.
Cheers for the cache.

I cycled by here during my early days of geocaching but having non geocachers in our group I couldn't stop for many of the caches along the way. This time though I did it by car. I wonder how long ago it was when people last lived here.
Cute house lol. Ghastly smell outside so i got hubby to get the cache lol. Easy find tftc
Cool old house. Quick find followed by a couple of photos. Thanks Bitsprayer

I brought my bike down with me on the trip to Omamaru to do some of the bike trails and today I did lots of them parking the car and then biking back and forward so made a big day but very enjoyable saw lots of neat stuff too.
Hey that could be a good renovation job for me,don't know if I'd get a tenant though.TFTC
thanks for the placement, we have been loved travelling and visiting the roads of oamaru and the many caches each CO has taken the time to place, thank you for taking the time to place and maintain them.
Found whilst here for the geofest race with flipnz and RowenaD, thanks for all the geocaches everyone.
Great day geocaching with TTT - the Trans Tasman Team! Really having fun at the Geofest !Thanks.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… Our journey to the bottom of the South Island has been almost two years in the planning. We were determined to make it to Oamaru Geofest. We decided to also factor in completing a couple of missions (JASMER and Virtual challenges), and the wheels started turning...
Day Five: Oamaru Geofest
The afternoon was dedicated to walking sections of the A2O trail. We found it more effective to park strategically and walk between finds. We got to see a lot more of the countryside in this way, and we met some colourful characters too... The majority of caches were quick finds and in good condition... TFTC.

The first find of many, I hope. This weekend JDScout, Bbear44, and I were off to a CITO. We took a wrong turn and were trying to find our way back. I marked this geocache as a good place to turn.
I can't help but wonder if Trump or Clinton would fancy living in this one - I doubt it! Picked up a TB. TFTC #8851
working near maheno for the week and staying in alma so great chance to grab a few after work . time to take the car on the back roads for a few more quick find tftc dropped off tb
Riding more of the A 2 O Cycle Trail seeking out caches. Today, being the second of three planned days on the trail. Today's ride is from Peaks Road to Weston. The day started by driving up to Peaks Rd via Tunnel Road and signing off the Off The Track Tunnel series. This was the 41st of 52 caches found. My thanks to the CO's for placing all the caches.
The plan was hatched a few years ago now and it has been a standing weekend away with a few of us mad keen cachers. This trip was made up of Karma Reprint, Team_Gaters and me (TheWanglers). We couldn't use a previous anagram to sign the logs as one member was in Aussie. So we had to come up with another... Hmm, KiTT? We decided on KiTT but after signing the first few logs something KR mentioned took a while for me to sink in and I didn't really take on board until the next time I signed the log. "Hey, the double 'TT' looks like Pi!". Oh, that's what KR said! So we signed the log this trip as KaTT pronounced 'Kapai'! And the trip was kapai!!! We had an epic weekend starting with a detour to Peel Forrest for a few FTFs, stopped in Omaru, thrashed Dunedin and detoured to Port Charmers for a FTF and then back to Pleasant Point and Peel Forrest to finish off the weekend with more FTFs. We got home to our families at a respectable hour after clocking up just over 1100km!
We had a few milestones we really wanted to crack. My 4000th, TG's 5000th and KR's 10,000th. We cracked my and KR's goal and got really close for TG. It really is about the numbers. This trip was awesome as it has given me some ideas
After lunch the plan was to head inland from here and grab a few A20 and other caches then head to Dunners to find our home and get dinner sorted. Quick find on the trail.
Thanks for the cache.

Cache number 100 for todays total of 123

Show weekend and a Road Trip to Dunedin with 'The Boys'....Karma Reprint & TheWanglers. Initially came up with the acronym KiTT but on seeing the TT looked like a Pi symbol we quickly changed to Ka(Pi) (ie. Kapai)....and a fantastic weekend it was. 3 days, 1100km, a heap of caches and great fun.
Wow. Cool. That's unexpected. Cheers!

Heading back to SH1 now. Some great views from the roads around here.
Canterbury show weekend and time for our annual road trip to some place with plenty of boxes to find. One player short this year as PurdiePurdie got a better offer over the Tasman, (no not another MEGA).
TheWanglers, Team Gaters and I took off at 4:45am for Dunedin for a weekend of fun frivolity and finds. The plan was to get as many as we could, while still having a good old time, which we managed in abundance. Logs were generally signed kaTT, which actually should read ka pai, but I can not seem to get pi as a symbol.
A great time was had by all.
Thanks to all the CO's for their hides.

Headed down south with C&D and 11HPG11 for the CHCH Mega as part of the HOAC team, and decided that a Mega road trip/Mega Mission was the right thing to do. After a great day caching from Dunedin to Omarama we manged to get a few hours sleep before the big day 2 started.
Day 2 was the start of a ambitious plan to try and find as many caches as possible in one day! To maximise our chances of a big number we decided a 24 hour caching day was the only way to go. What an epic day, and some great moments too. The rough idea was to cache from Omarama to Oamaru, and then head north towards Christchurch. A huge thanks to everyone for the cache placments, and I apologise for the copy and past logs.
Find #167 for the day.
Not quite fit for the president anymore, but cool old building.

This was the start of a MEGA caching weekend in the company of good caching friends. In the company of both HKCB & 11HPG11 this was going to be another memorable caching road trip for many reasons.
This is the mission that we had set ourselves up for several months back. It was HKCB's idea, I was just dumb enough to think it was a challenge and I'd be up for it, 11HPG11 was silly enough to come along for the ride once we confirmed a spare seat (Nova Lightening pulled out for family reasons).
We were going to try to beat the NZ one day record in New Zealand (it would have been easier with 4 people), so after 2.5hrs sleep after a good feed at Omarama we were ready to go. This was the one hundred and sixty eighth on what was to be an epic day with what amounted to 401 caches collected for the day and about 38 DNF's. We managed this with 10minutes to spare but by this time we were done for and still had to drive back to Kaiapoi. All in all an epic days caching with good friends and something I don't think any of us will repeat in a hurry.
All in all it was going to be a big day with a number of challenges, great sceanery, and of course great company. Fantastic driving along and up here as the landscape was so different from what we are used to back in the Waikato. One good thing about backroads being that we could continue our neferious activites without being disturbed by muggles.
Nice quick find here without any issues .
thanks for the placement , thanks for the cache

What a Mega Mission for a group of Hamilton Over Achievers! A great trip, a long time in the planning. I teamed up with Cats&Dragons and HKCB to grab a couple of caches while in Christchurch and surrounding areas for the 2015 Mega Event. We flew out from Auckland on Friday night and traveled to Dunedin in the dark of the night. Stopped for a few hours sleep before setting off to grab caches in the Otago area on Saturday before attempting a few more on Sunday and then arriving at the Mega on the Monday. An amazing, yet crazy road trip
When C&D mentioned a day with over 400 caches I should have turned and ran... instead I said yes, and here we are. 401 caches in 23 hours and 50 minutes. All done on about 2.5hr of sleep. It was hard work with only 3 of us and there were times that were hard and tiring but I still had a blast! An amazing experience that one has to be slightly crazy to even consider
Enjoyed exploring this area. Thanks for showing us the sights. Love these old places.

Another great find while slowly heading to the Christchurch Mega, although I seem to be heading further away on this league of my journey!
Thanks for adding to the fun of my trip, although pouring with rain today.

Spent the morning running around the trails and countryside as a brief aside on our trip to Dunedin. Parking a problem in places and grabbed two caches at a time in many places from one parking spot. Most caches easy finds. Thanks for the trails and side caches and please excuse the cut paste log.
Quick find - and the house does not look too good. But at least it is still white. TFTC
What a real estate agent would probably describe as "heaps of potential". TFTC.
Cool house, such a shame to see houses like this dotted around the country (and in town) in such repair, TFTC found with Granville86a
Found with Chosen1978, Not quite 1600 Pennsylvania Ave but it was home to someone. Great spot.
Doing a round up on the back roads. My Caching Fu was a bit hit and miss today. This was a hit.

Found a rock sitting on the fence post and an indentation where a cache may once have been but didn't find what we were looking for.
Well that took way longer than it should have. Went the wrong way along the fence line. Hopefully I got some arty photos of this particular rural relic. TFTC
Had to empty the grass seeds from the shoes after finding this one. Found with debsnz
So this is the summer retreat of Mr Obama. ! Sure needs a fresh coat of paint.
