will get this sorted as going to move hide. will be in forest next week watch this space.
Despite the fact it's obvious Alison Mau has completely fabricated that geocaching story, this cache should be archived or moved immediately given the kauri threat as a matter of urgency.
This story in stuff mentions geocaching and doesn't give it a favourable rap.

It may be worth considering archiving the caches going into the larger kauri forests as there is no cure in sight for this disease and geocachers need to be responsible here to avoid damaging the reputation of the sport.

still on my to do list. looking for new hiding spot. will be up and going again soon thx.
after reading last log lat week . I went to explore and YES a new sign is in place. No walking on track du to kauri dieback. so will sort another hide shortly.
I was going to attempt this one this morning but the track is closed. This area is infected with Kauri dieback so it might be an idea to disable this one for a bit until they have it under control. We don't want any irresponsible cachers going after this one.
9.20am - DAY 1 of 3. This is our first full day of caching in the Northland Region on this trip. Plan was to travel up from Dargaville through the forest to Kaikohe and stop when we needed sleep.
Sorry to say a lot of caches on our first leg were missing and a lot needed repairs done to them.
Would advise future cachers to check the DNF's before wasting lots of time trying to find these ones.
Trip took us to lakes, boulders, churches, cemetries and a great array of other locations.
The kilometres just seemed to flash by with food and drink stops sometimes missed.
Don't know how we ended up in Kaitaia for our night stop but woke up the motelier at some unusual hour for a bed. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap) and Mr Davidson (of Davidson clan). Signed most finds as BGH.
Visiting Northland for Easter... The plan for today was to head up the Kauri Coast to Hokianga Harbour , then skip across to the Pacific Coast until we were somewhere near Kaitaia. We really hope to make a big dent into several challenges we are working on...
We didn't see the track coordinate reference and tried to find our own way in from the roadway... Just as well we have a bit of sense, as that was quite a drop down from the road. We backtracked to the bridge and the walk into the cache was straightforward. from there.. TFTC.

#2646 Taking my nephew on a road trip and picking up a few caches on our travels. It was a good opportunity to stretch the legs and let the lad burn some energy here. Quick find at GZ and then back tracked to the car. TFTC!
One more Kiwi-cache on a 10 week trip to N.Z. before school starts for the young cacher in team. We also followed the way to the cafe and enjoied a good meal while tuis were singing next to us. Thank you for showing.
Nearly unbeaten path... I love it! Prepare to get damp even if it is not raining...the trees like to sprinkle visitors with dew.
I had gone to Auckland yesterday and was a little late getting back up the coast but did this one late in the avo.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Wasn't sure where to approach this cache but we found a way! A quick grab after visiting the Kauri Forest. TFTC
We found this one on our way to the north after a coffee break at the visitor center. Thank you for hiding.
I stated looking for the parking spot down towards the visitor's station, but my GPSr told me it was across the river. This told me something, so I came back out and parked in the right spot. I had a nice little walk down to GZ, stopping once or twice to clear fallen debris from the track. Don't worry there is still plenty of debris yet to be cleared for the next person. TFTC.
Wow, these trees are just stunning!!!
Made a nice little walk into the wilderness. Liked this area very much! Didn't need gum boots or to cross the river. Easy find! Thank you for hiding!!

I was cycling through on a rainy day. The rain eased and the sun appeared so I decided to take this nice walk. Tftc (teeshirt)
Drove from Auckland up to Opononi and found a few caches on the way. Lovely drive, especially the bit through the Waipoua Forest.
On our holidays QuestHobbit and i were the first time in New Zealand That was great! This one was our first Tradi in this beautiful country and i'am surprised that here were not so many people before.. great hiding place TftC..
New Zealand has a very tourist-/cacher-friendly environment. No ticks, no snakes... you can just walk through the beautiful nature to the caches... (walk through it, but don't destroy it ) Nice outlying cache. TFTC
An enjoyable wander around the Waipoua Wonder, many thanks for the placement, found with Yeetrees while on a road trip around Northland.
(890) Decided to take a trip up the West coast with Matttuc76 and pick up some caches on the way. We had a successful find. TFTC
Travelled throughout the North with crispyhaugio and we managed to geocache around. TFTC.
Trip through the beautiful Northland and geocaching wherever possible. Thanks to all the cacheowners for shwoing us (Pandabär13 and me) these great places.
Nice walk. Had heaps of rain, so river running high and pretty squishy underfoot. Cache was exposed, so hid a little better. TFTC

Finding this cache was an absolute joy. Indeed we are blessed with a beautiful country to live in.
The sounds are beautiful, I agree. I have a lovely painting on my wall at home of this very river that my grandmother painted back in the 60's and it still looks the same now. It's nice to know this is protected reserve and may well be the same for my grandchildren too, we are but the caretakers after all.
I photographed Kauai Roo TB here too,
I have left my Housie number 'Heinz varieties all the beans 57 '

Was a bit tired after this morning's Kumara Tri, but finding the last cache really got me feeling chirpy! so how could I be so close & not do this one? Well, was also feeling a bit cheeky! and didn't want to get my skinnyjeans wet (which would not roll up)... so armed ( or legged?! ) with a bit of local knowledge, having done the Tane Mahuta Funrun last year, did not have to get my feet wet. It was nice to walk along and enjoy the scenery at a slower pace this time around. GPS was a bit loopy and to my dismay was pointing me 12 meters down below [:o] so thought my cheeky plan had gone awry, but then I saw the clue & was relieved I was right on track after all. whew! TFTC
Nice walk, had some problems to find the right way...

Had a quick look for the track end on the main road but didn't seem to be signposted - is it 'open' from this end? Up for an adventure anyway, parked close by where an old piece of road leaves the road to the DoC HQ, and forded the river. It was waist deeep close to the cache so had to be careful to keep phone and gear dry, probably would have been easier to start upstream closer to the car and make use of the track on the other side for 100m. Love this area. T4TC
What an experience this cache was! Wading the stream on the way to the cache and swimming afterwards. Gorgeous, TFTC!
#901, Cool Walkway, Kids disappointed by size of cache/no swag; given such an isolated spot. TFTC
Mission accomplished. First seekers were successful. Nice spot, beautiful forest!
