Another find for the Bass coast rail trail series.. definitely had to get geoGF to grab this
I suggested to AnnoyingTarbit that we did a spot of caching over Christmas and we ended up heading to Wonthaggi to work along a section of the rail trail (and look for a few caches in between). We had more finds than not, though there were more DNFs than we expected. I'm attributing it to the hot weather and a reluctance to spend lots of time looking...
After arriving at GZ AT looked one way and I looked the other. I kicked a container that had seen better days thinking it was a bit of rubbish, and to my surprise I saw some things that looked like cache contents inside. I tentatively opened the container and had a laugh when I saw what was inside. Second one today! AT did the signing honours. Replaced in a slightly better place than where it was found, but might need some TLC. TFTC

After months of planning a caching day Lost_and_Found_79 and I locked in on the day after Boxing Day to head out. The main target was a section of the Bass Rail Trail between Kilcunda and Wonthaggi and though it was as a scorcher it actually turned out to be a little cooler nearer to the coast. As others have noted this oen has seen better days. I had a simialr hide where a rat had gnawed right thorugh the container. We almost passed it over as rubbish at first but on closer examination we realised it was the cache. My 25th of 35 finds on a great day of caching in the area. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache Gonefishen07.

Found this one sitting out in open. No log to sign. Have put it where we assume it should be.
Eventually found tucked in a nice hidey spot and it turns out the spook has a home.tyftc
Day three of my Victorian Caching Adventure. Time to get put the bicycle I’d hired to work and explore the Bass Rail Trail. I left the bike at my motel and drove out to Anderson parked there and caught a bus back to Wonthaggi so I only had to cycle the one way. A great ride I’d recommend to anyone. The caching along the way was a bonus really. I had a reasonable good hit rate and found most of the ones I looked for. Cheers and TFTC
This took a long while to find. Partly due to GPS under trees problem but mainly because cache was nowhere near the 'base' of anything but out in the open. Signed log, swapped trackables and put in a place with a bit of cover and near the base of something. Good cache but not keen on guardian.
Another fun find and as this is as far as I have time to walk tonight i am giving a FP for this bit of the trail and all the good caches I have found so far. A bike for next time in this area thanks yet again Gonefishin
TFTC! Reached inside to admire the TB but did not really want to sign the log! However got over the fear, signed the log. TNLN
KAKAGA Mark 2: Kate And Kelly's Amazing Geocaching Adventure is happening again because we're free of children, chores and work! Hurrah! A trip down to the coast was organised with the New Years events and rail trail in mind and ended with a count of: one emergency department visit, one headbutted tree, one muggle asking if we were looking for drugs, endless swarms of flies, many scratches, one sunburned shoulder, one milestone 1000th cache, great meals, good company and 66 caches.
I had an idea what this may be and I was correct. I've seen hides like this before and wasn't freaked out, though the real thing has frightened me previously especially when a cache full of them exploded at me beyond Stratford. I shudder just thinking about it. Anyway, the log book was signed and a travel bug deposited, TFTC Gonefishen07

This weekend marked the second of the much anticipated KAKAGA trips (Kate and Kelly's Amazing Geocaching Adventures). Mummy Short Legs and I were both very excited to be given the opportunity to spend almost two full days together with nothing but a vehicle, our bikes and our GPSs for company. We were not going to let soaring temperatures or bucketloads of flies stop us, we were going to cache our way around the Inverloch/Wonthaggi area till we dropped (or until the geohusbands begged for our return at least!).
Coming prepared with bikes we hit up the rail trail on our second day of KAKAGA#2. After sustaining a bite yesterday I can completely understand Hearse's phobia for this one. I'm very glad the MSL laid hands on this first today! "ooh it's a big one" was the comment (or was that the voice in my head screaming?!). Thanks for the exciting cache GF07

While down at on Wonthaggi for the annual event we took the trail after lunch. Mr X dropped me off at one road and drove round to the next. Rather hot and lots of flys but managed to make the easy find.
Thanks for the cache Gonefishen07

While out in the company of the McLookers we set out to get a start on the trail with bikes ready & roaring, plenty of water and snacks packed we were off. The sun belting down made for a hot ride but with sunscreen applied and our helmets for protection we enjoyed the trail and all caches on offer. Most caches were found with only a few DNF'S as we kept the pace up ...pedal, search, sign, pedal!
Thanks Gonefishen07 for your efforts put into this rail trail series, we had a ball.

The Tritonz was the brave one here today!
In the area on bikes with The Tritonz with the aim of completing the Rail Trail. The grass was very, very long in many places. Fortunately we did not see a snake...I am not sure how as it was a very snakey kind of day. Thanks GF07, it is a brilliant picturesque trail that gave us the opportunity to see another very pretty part of Victoria.

This was more my style for a warm night....no long grass! The cache was found very easily and then.........
I let out that guttural "buhhhh" noise. Rusty kid asked what was wrong so I pointed the cache in his direction and he recoiled in horror. Hahahahaha if only I could have got a photo of his face.
The bloomin' critter had even swallowed up the cache, so I spent some time pumping the bison tube from its stomach. I succeeded with this procedure and we were on our way, but not before Rusty kid showed off his bike that he had "pimped with nature" while I was performing surgical procedures on the wildlife. He had also found a club that will no doubt be used on his little brother as soon as my back is turned. (Pics attached)

Started off from next to the Pony club today to enjoy the trail for the 3rd time. I am really enjoying this trail and cache series and thought it would be good to try and finish it off before the warmer weather brings out both more muggles and snakes! This was 5 of 19 found along here today. TFTS Gonefishen07 and other that help in maintaining the caches.

A nice little hide that we were quick onto. Opened with care because we knew something was up. Both had a smile as the log was signed. Back safe again. Thanks
Love the rail trail, love being on the bike, love the bug. Thanks for bringing me here. TFTC
Frightening. Thanks for the effort gone into this cache. We found log pretty quickly, signed and replaced. We didn't want to hang around too long. Hehe.
Tftc. Quick easy find on our bikes with Jagn. confused by the 2 containers
Suscoe was heading home today but luckily we had a reasonably short distance to go and so we still had a good few hours to spend in and around Wonthaggi.
The day started out cloudy with some drizzle but it was mild and as time went by some sun broke through on occasions.
We took in a number of cache sites around the town and along the Rail Trail too.
Thanks to Gonefishen07 for placing this cache here.
Well the log is quite obviously here, it was found by Suscoe and we were not sure how this could be overlooked.
A phobia shared by a few folks known by Mr. S. too.

The days has heated up a bit now, the flies are extreme friendly too. Cache hunt is going very well but some DNF have been collected also. There has been a lot of work gone into this trail by the COs , so a huge thank you.
Just wondering if you are looking hard enough for the log. It is there look harder. It is not a business card
I have a freak out when I see one of these too. This cache didn't really have a log. The log seemed to resemble some damp business cards stuck together. Needs an new log for sure. We were able to sign it though. TFTC
First rail trail with the crew. Perfect cloudless day for it. Love the thought put into each cache! Sorry about the generic log!
#744 - Day two of my trip down to the Inverloch for some caching.
The first part of my day today consisted of riding the rail trail from Wonthaggi to Kilcunda picking up as many Rail Trail caches as I could. My weapon of choice was my brothers cycle-cross bike so I could give it a go, with the decision to leave my road and mountain bike at home.
After having a bit of a sleep in to 7am this morning to catch up on some sleep, I quickly had breakfast and headed off to park at Wonthaggi to start the ride.
Between the hours of 08:00-15:00, I was able to get to Kilcunda and back as well as complete 44 of the 50 rail trail caches that I set out to do, (6 DNF's due to not being able to find them and not spend to much time there or due to muggle activity).
I was very impressed with the variety of caches and different cache hides along this part of the Rail Trail. I ended up spending a lot more time looking for caches then riding as quite a few of them were a challenge to find!
Thank you Gonefishen07 for the effort put into these caches, had a really fun ride.

In Wonthaggi this weekend for a whole heap of geocaching!
Saturday, and what was planned to be a massive day. The schedule was to travel to Kilcunda via the rail trail, then head back down the coast. Unfortunately I ran out of time and had to head back to Wonthaggi before completing all the caches. Nevertheless a heap of smileys are now on the map, and I had a blast. A huge thank you to Gonefishen07 for placing these, they are great! Ill be back another day to finish the area off! I apologize for the generic logs, but there are a lot of them!!
Having a great time on this trail!

This placevsufdenly became mugglesville, but the old fake phone call did the trick.. Tftv
We had a great day on the rail trail between Dalyston and Wonthaggi today. Thanks to Gonefishen07 for your effort in hiding all these caches.
An easy find and a few screams from the geokids!

After speaking with the previous finder they did not look hard enough at this one so removing owner maintenance attribute
Visited and found this cache today but no log found and wet inside. Have photo as proof of visit.
I was a little way away but heard the screams alright! Nice twist. Onward!
