Easy find, despite our wayward GPS...log soggy, added a fresh piece of paper for now. Thanks
Doing the Travers-Sabine Track and to Blue Lake. On the way back up to Angelus Hut.Never done something like this before in my life, so I took food for 10 days, just to be sure I'll come back home. But with so much food, my backpack was quite heavy as well. But I made it and saw some amazong places and found a few caches as well.TFTC#582
Nice hide, didn't take long to spot the cache. Logbook wet so unable to sign. It was also raining so I didn't let more water in. TFTC
Marchwood and I walked along this side of the lake to find a string of caches. We took one of the hints a little too literally, but found the cache as we returned to a more logical spot right near the trail. TFTC.
And, school holidays have rolled round again. We are up at the lake for a couple of days and Miss B has a walk planned. This is it, up to Whisky Falls. While Miss B and Mrs B did the walk, I played leap frog getting the caches along here, 9 on the way in and 4 on the way out.
Find 5. An easy enough find but not really much of a view from the cache.

We decided to walk to Whiskey falls today. A lovely walk with lots of bird life. We were expecting the track to be longer based on the information from the visitor centre so we were surprised when we read the sign. We waited here to let a group of kids past. It's amazing how noisy they are. Once they were all passed us we made a quick search and had the cache in hand.

A day trip up to Whiskey Falls collecting caches as we went. I think this was another area where we had to wait for muggles to leave before we could grab the cache. Log signed and cache replaced as found. tftc

Passed it but we stopped at the lake for a lunch break, so I headed back and saw the hiding spot. A bit wet, but was able to sign.
Enjoying the walk! Looping the lake - but in two days.

A wee gap in the trees to confirm that I was nearing my destination.

This one took a lot of vigilante searching by RNZ, but finally success! He says 5-10 mins, more like 20 mins, with a lot of colorful bush language chucked in for free
A lovely leisurely hike to Whisky Falls today after our excursion up Mt Robert yesterday,. The weather was stunning again & we wanted to take advantage of that We got away a little later than we hoped, but we had plenty of water to combat the heat.

Same hint as the bum cache just before it, but a slightly different hide. I searched all around for a good 5-10 minutes on the wrong side of the track before spotting this one. Of course, once you are there the coords are spot on, but before that it could be anywhere.
All good, and thanks for the fun. Thought we had our first DNF there for a while. TFTC Holymu.
Second full day at the lake, and it’s another stunner.
After a successful excursion up Mt Robert yesterday, today we decide to tackle the somewhat less vertically challenging lakeside walk to Whisky Falls.
A full day with 13 caches targeted, and all were found. All were in pretty good nick, although we may have added a sliver or two of RITR paper if the logs were a bit damp.
Again, great fun, weather and company and good to see so many people out doing the walk.

we were staying with nana and grandad for the weekend and we wanted to go for a walk to find some geocaches. I had a great day. Thank you for putting the caches here for us to find

Due to NZ being at Alert level 4 and some people insisting on continuing to geocache and put others at risk I am disabling my caches until such time as it's safe to resume this activity.
Any logs I receive for finds during this time will be deleted. I don't care anymore about YOUR safety than you obviously do but I do care very much about others and want them to be safe so please do NOT look for any of my caches while they are disabled.
In the meantime, there's always plenty of puzzles to be solved or created but above all PLEASE STAY SAFE EVERYONE!

Loving this walk. This one is now snagged and tagged. Cheers
Stayed at Cold Water Hutt Friday night. Ended up with 2 other roomys and 2 others camped out. Im up and on the trail by 7am. An amazing view with fog coming down the river and disbursing over the lake.
Zara and I are off for some much needed tree time, with Lake Rotoiti on my agenda for today. Arranged a hut pass, left Zara resting at TeeTotal and hit the trail by 10. Finally arrived at Coldwater Creek Hut just before 5pm.

Lovely day for a kayak on the lake. #2 for the day. We had a lovely trek through native trees to find the track. A fantail joined us on our adventure. After locating the cache without too much trouble, we went forward along the track more and back along the lake edge to the kayaks. Tftc.
Found it durring a family hike around the lake. We went to lake head hut for one night and then walked out the next day great cache. Cheers for your cache placement TFTC
Quick found on our way to Coldwater Hut. Kt wasn't really nice weather, but walk alongside the lake was great. TFTC
An interesting twist of events had me driving a van, fully set up for sleeping and camping, so I immediately applied for leave on Friday and looked for a suitable destination. St. Arnaud has been on the cards again for some time, so it was a no brainer to head in this direction! On Saturday, I decided to take a walk around Lake Rotoiti all the way through the swing bridge. Not because I was trying to keep my feet dry, but there were a couple more caches that way! It was definitely not a cold day, and I kept reapplying sunscreen and insect repellent the whole way. Excellent tramp, highly recommended!! Thanks for all the caches that made the day so enjoyable!!!
Awesome hike to the Whisky Falls, nice track. Paper is a bit soggy but did not have any new with me.
Our last find for the day - we didn't stop after this as we headed back to Kerr Bay. A fairly obvious hiding place (at least when coming from this direction) so it didn't give us much trouble. Surprised that this is a lonely cache, when the others we've passed have not been. Dropped a trackable. TFTC.

Having had a day at the Braeburn last week today we came to the west track of Lake Rotoiti. The walk down toward the falls was uneventful but the views were much better walking back north. We walked for about four hours in all collecting caches along the way.
We found this cache where we expected it to be.

A nice quick find on our return from an overnight stay at Coldwater Hut. Good to have a few finds along the track to break up the journey for our younger family members. TFTC.
what a stunning view on a stunning day. first find enroute to whisky falls. TFTC.
This was the 27th find on out South Island trip of 2016 . We were doing the Lake Side Track and managed to find every cache that we went for, having not gone for some that were more out of our way. After tramping on the path in the bush for awhile it was nice to finally see the lake we were meant to be walking next to. The cache wasn't a problem to find. The container was a bit wet, but we sealed it back up as best we could. Thanks for the cache!
Another quick find on our way to the falls - now we continue to the cacheless part of the track. TFTC
We possibly looked a bit funny to the trampers as we wandered along with our life jackets on. Probably made more sense to them once they saw our boat further along the track. Tftc
Headed up to the lake for a sunday afternoon walk... weather has been cooking me in town lately - so nice to be up here in the shade.
All in order here - thanks for the QEF today. Now to turn around and try and find the couple I past on the way here.

Once again the paper was very wet and unable to clearly write on the log paper.
NZDi and I have been planning a few days away up at St Arnaud in the Nelson Lakes. Yesterday we took over six hours to travel up the Wairau Valley from Blenheim caching along the way. The trip normally takes just over an hour but we were in no hurry as we could not check in to our accommodation until after 3pm anyway. On the way up I managed to get a nice round fifty caches and NZDi got six more that I already had converted into smiley faces.
Todays aim is to get the cache at Parachute Rock then carry on to the ridge to place one of our own, however I don't think the weather Gods are going to play the game. After that we will play it by ear. After getting back from bagging Parachute Rock minus the side trip up to the ridge, we had a shower and lunch and put on some more clothes suitable for caching in the rain. We the came out to cache the area between Mt Robert Road and the lake.
NZDi found this one on the opposite side of the track from where I was looking.

Our mission today was to circumnavigate the lake by kayak to map it's size. We spent a lot of time getting as close to the edge as possible, getting stuck in overhanging trees and on rocks. Lots of laughter was had. I couldnt go past the 2 caches near the edge that I hadnt got. I don't think I looked at all silly to the foreigners I passed walking up the track from the boats, still wearing my lifejacket and spray skirt . I now need to come back and get the other caches on the track. TFTC

A weekend trip up to the Nelson Lakes with G H 6 7 1 0 and the Seagnoid was planned with a couple of days of the weekend in one of the work baches not far off the lake side in Rotoiti/ St Arnaud. Targets were set; get the Seagnoid past 4000 caches, get more than 50 a day for G H 7 6 1 0, and get me past 3200 cache finds. Also in target was some tramping, some boat caching (grabbing whilst moored as close as safely possible to G Z) some 4 W Driving and some basic park and grabs. We also wanted to get all of the puzzle/unknown caches in St Arnaud as well as 100% of the multi caches in St Arnaud (cache Tectonics!). There was driving, boating, walking, rain, mist, sun, ducklings, eels and trout, sandflies (of course), beech trees and great views. Fun and sweat (no tears), a wasp sting and over 100 caches found for me. We all surpassed our targets and at the end of 2 full on days we returned to a cooler Blenheim than when we left tired out.
The last day of January and this January has probably been my most prolific with lots of great South Island caches, with a handful of N I ones thrown in for good measure. Todays plan is to start with some P &Gs, then off up the Pinch Gut for a nice tramp, then back to the car.
Waiting to meet up with G H 6 7 1 0 and the car a quick trip up here was in order
Cacche found by t S using hint . Was a nice walk along this lower track to get this cache. Will be back later by boat, didn't know that at the time.....................................

[green] Capperz decided that this was the weekend for a marathon run on St Arnaud. Not sure why, except that base lodge there had a cancelled weekend and was free to grab. So he, I and GH6710 had an interesting time caching the surrounds. Rained on and off. The wet long grass meant that I had wet feet for the entire trip. Saw the insides and tops of clouds, some great views, lotsw of rabbits (or maybe just the one, many times over - it always did the same thing: safe on the side of the road, it decides to runs across just in front of the car). Also got to see robins, sandflies, no keas, sandflies and more sandflies. We managed to get GH to break his 50/day record, and over 120 for the whole trip. Saturday we climbed half way up Mt Robert in the morning then boated around Lake Rotoiti in a little yellow plastic dingy for the afternoon. Sunday was lonely cache day - some over 10 months since their last find. Many of these found with GH's 4x4, bumping over some very rough roads, my first real experience of four wheel driving. What an awesome weekend!
GH had split from Capperz and me to go and bring the car round to the lower track entrance, so Capperz and I headed this way. Later we came past by boat, so GH got to do the find anyway. Yeah, there is a view, squeezed through the trees.

Our day on Mt Robert. Much anticipated. Car out to Mt Robert Car Park, up Pinchgut to Relax Shelter, across to Bushline and then down Paddys. A warm down along the Lakeside track. Managed 25 cache finds. A great day out.
This was #25 for the day. Now on warm down from the Mt Robert circuit. We drove down from the upper carpark to the Lakeside track carpark and set out from there. This being the sixth found on that track.
Another surprise that this is such a lonely cache.
Cache find was straightforward. Cache in order; log signed, then safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!
A note of appreciation to the cache owners in and around St Arnaud. We have encountered only one DNF in our first 2 days of caching in the region. Caches discoverable, in good condition with logs intact and signable. Altogether good caching. Thanks.

What a good reason to stop for lunch before the climb up the hill. Found with jonvan1 on our family reunion tramp.
A fairly quick find as we continued along the Lakeside Track. There isn’t a great view of the lake from here due to the trees. TFTC

Easter weekend, and went off hiking, did the loop of Lake Rotoiti from St Arnaud, staying the night in Lakehead Hut halfway through. Was a great trip! 32km, and AMAZING beautiful views of the lake and water the whole way through. And we had such lovely amazing weather too!!
So the whole trip pretty much consisted of everyone walking along, and Sonia jumping into the bushes every now and then to grab a cache with her huge like 10kg or so pack on...
Read the hint, and we were like oh no... where will it be then?? Pretty much all of them have been in spots like that thus far!! But it was not an issue, as we found it pretty quick
TFTC!!

Rather dappled views from right at the cache site, but improving views moving towards the Head of the Lake. A really lovely walk around here today. Thanks for bringing us here.

We were definitely following the same track as Biggles with again his log before us in the book, although 10 days earlier. The track was wet, but blue sky and birdsong more than made up for that. Looked in a couple of the wrong places, then realised this time we had not gone quite far enough for the find. Which was silly because the co-ordinates were spot on for us. Thanks.
Second to last cache found on my outbound trek. Looked around for interesting hiding places and managed to find this one fairly quickly. TFTC, Biggles.
