Heading Taihape way to target some geocaches needed for Challenges and other lonely caches. This is one of those.Yep still here and all good. Nice to sign an original log. 877 days between finds
Much easier stopping here on the way out, and th cache was a quick fin although my approach was a bit suboptimal. TFTC!!
#7631. We are heading north on holiday. I had approval from the family to do a few caches on the way provided they were park and grabs. This one was off on a side road but the family seemed OK with the diversion. Parking wasn't easy here but the traffic volume was very low. Soon spied a likely hiding spot and the cache was quickly in hand. Signed the log and returned the cache where found. Thanks skindo for the cache.
Yay school holidays! Time for a road trip with my friend Ethness. I flew from Christchurch to Wellington. The idea is to drive up to the top of the North Island and back. We planned the trip ages ago.
Thanks skindo for placing this geocache 7677 find for me. Another major detour.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

The school holidays are here and NosyNel and I are on a road trip north - to the far north. A side trip here off State Highway 1 to collect some caches, including this one. TFTC skindo.

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](http://nzmega.com) - you won't want to miss it!

Another quick find in an amazing area - pleased we came out here for a look. tftc
On my way to Rotorua for ten pin bowling tournament, detour into this area to find some caches. Cache in good condition. Thanks skindo for the cache.
Sorry we had forgotten to log this cache way back in september it was due to a friendly geocacher talking about caches that brought it to our attention we hadn't logged any aches from our lovely weekend away so todays the day. Thank you for the lovely adventure and the sights i the area its lovely so worth whilegoing out of our way to get this cache. lovely area to explore. no traffic today around these quiet roads. thanks again TFTC
We decided to go for a drive today and Dad ended up here as he wanted to have a look at the Canyon not realising it was no longer going. Such an interesting area, it was such a nice day. 11.25amRoad trip to Manawatu this weekend.
Started out with four of us going then someone bailed a few hours before we were due to leave.
Collected NZ Flossy, arrived in Rotorua to collect the Squirrel who had misread info, thinking we were going for the day only so quick change, more clothes gathered and off south we went.
Plan was to start about Waiouru and see how far we could get before stopping for the night.
We travelled roads that none of us had being on before. Lots of different caches, some that hadn't been found for over a year and a couple that had DNF's but we found and even one that we had to turn into Spiderman to collect.
Great first day and stopped in Marton for the night which is an interesting town. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap), and NZFlossy... Heading South and hoping to get a big jump on the Mythical Creatures souvenirs.
There had been some talk of a mission into the Manawatu-Wanganui Region during the week. I hadn't paid much attention to any of the planning conversations, and only discovered this morning that this was going to be an overnight trip. I had to hurriedly pack a few things... The beauty of travelling a long distance is that you can spend a lot of time chatting... that definitely helps to pass the time away. The problem for us is that we have cleared most of the driving route of caches, so our first stop was in Waiouru - 2.5 hours away from home...
We pulled alongside and spotted a likely hint object from the car. Another cache that has not received any visits for a while. TFTC.

On a road trip with Gap (Of Fap and Gap) and squirrel nutcase heading south for them to get some new caches. I haven't done anywhere as many as them so I got a few extra picking up ones they already had. I have never been out this way before and loved the beautiful scenery - We saw the likely spot for this one as we were driving up. Good to be visiting some lonely caches TFTC
This was always going to be a bit of a caching trip in the company once again of HKCB. Having though about it and done a fair bit of planning over the past couple of weeks this was a chance for a reasonable clean out of an area that we don't normally get to. So with families in mind, rather than setting out on the Friday evening we left home at 2am on the Saturday morning to make our way south before either the heat of the day or there was too much traffic on the road.
Some stats for the weekend
- Distance Traveled = 1457 kms
- Petrol = 3 x Fills
- Time Away from Home = 42 hours
- Straight Driving Time = 6 hours
- Sleep = 4 hours
- Caches Found = 250
- DNF's = 3
So after a straight forward drive down here this was the first that we located of what was going to be a very long day, and followed by another very long day.
While I apologize that these are 'copy & paste" logs, I would just like to say thank you to all the CO's that have have put out and maintained these caches for us out of 'non-locals' to find. It was a great weekend and we traveled though some amazing countryside.
A key learning from the weekend was that a Mazda CX5 is not designed to ford rivers.
So thank you for the placement, thank you for the cache.

On a weekend mission with Cats&Dragons, for a bit of a numbers run along the new trails around the Northern Manawatu area, and anything else along the way. As usual these types of trips mean maximizing caching time and minimizing sleep time. So with a 2am start time Saturday morning we left home and headed South, and not getting back home til 8.30pm Sunday night. Some numbers for the trip as I know we all like caching stats are:
* 1450km traveled.
* 286 caches found (192 on Saturday, 94 on Sunday) with only 3 DNF's
* 4 hours sleep
* With a 3 hour each way drive to the Caching area, so about 32 hours of caching in the 42 hours we were away at an average of nearly 9 caches per hour, this isn't including stopping for fuel and coffee!!!
So a huge thanks to all the CO's for the placements, and for the reason to see some more of our wonderful country, we saw some pretty amazing places. Sorry for the copy and paste logs. We signed the log books HKCD, or HKCBC&D.

Found this cache together with SpookyEyes during our camper van tour through NZ. Thank you for hiding the container and showing this place to us. Greetings from Austria.

Found this one together with looki on our way around NZ in the Campervan. On the way from Tongariro to Wellington we had to make a stop at Gravity Canyon to get some pictures and some caches, too. Cool hideout. Tftc & Greets from Austria
#7313. It turned out to be a sunny day for exploring Mokai Road. A small glimpse of the Rangitikei River below. It was all quiet at GZ when we visited. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

A mid-winter trip to Taihape to say farewell to family before we move South to Blenheim for the next step of our New Zealand adventure/life. There were 6 caches in and around these back roads that I'd missed on previous visit and with a spare hour or so on my hands decided to increase my skindo finds by a cheeky little half dozen after quite a few bumandworker South Island caches had overtaken my previously large amount by a single cache owner. Weather played ball and I avoided the occasional showers and kept toasty warm in the car too. Some wonderful scenery around these parts which aren't travelled that often unfortunately.
Lucky last for the day and time to get some teabags ad some milk for a brew. There isquite the view down into the river from here, had a peep and didn't approach!

We kept this cache for the return journey as the parking looked better on this side. A quick find in the obvious spot.
