This is getting silly now. Slogged up the steepest hill of the day to GZ (know I am in right vicinity with past photos). Spent a long time looking at a lot of potential rock hides with no luck. 5 metres here would make a world of difference. So many prickly pear and despite not going near them I ended up with spikes in my hands and pants. No luck on the cache (time wax getting short) and then I realised I lost my pen on the way down (tried a Quick Look but no luck). Route down was worse than the one up. Might have a think before I head up here again.TFTC anyway Bushtrakkers
Out and about with Byker152 today, We in Eldorado with a few multis followed by Beechworth abd finally ended up in Mt Pilot NP. Great day with some fantastic caches ticked off the list. Got drenched a few times, but that's all part of the fun! This was a hidden gem, got to Wp1 and started doing the math, half way realised we were looking at the wrong plaque (always pays to read the description properly) after we fixed our error it was a another short walk to GZ. Took a few minutes to track down the well hidden cache, we quickly got a move on as dark rain clouds approached fast. TFTC! FP awarded.
Out with LLRPP enjoying the day. This local history is amazing. The monument is fantastic. Even in these small communities, great men were born. All good here. Now, onto the next one for the day. TNLN TFTC
Staying in Eldorado for a couple of days with Weirdobiker and jr379, we kept ourselves busy hunting caches. After quite a long day in the field, Pam was keen to do just one more, this one. If I had known what she was getting me into, I would have objected, but what could possibly go wrong? As we climbed the hill, climbing over slippery, mossy rocks, I was just about at my use by date when we arrived at the posted coords. After gathering the required information, and doing our calculations, I was once again lured forth to expend more energy. When we arrived at GZ, we searched for a while but, knowing that it hadn't been found for 17 months, and with rain threatening, we started to doubt the wisdom of our decision to conquer this one.A few minutes later Pam made the find, and joy returned to our hearts. The walk back down to the car was taken slowly and carefully, and we lived to celebrate our success. Thanks for the fun Bushtrakkers. A favourite point coming your way.
Spending time in Eldorado this weekend to find the remaining CSI with Crustyvarmint and jr379 who was testing out her new van. I saw this multi and had to sweet talk Crustyvarmint to accompany me to the first WP. I assured him it wouldnt be much of a hike. It was a bit steeper than I thought. Anyway we made it to gz and then collected the numbers, did the maths and then off to find the cache. Up hill and down dale dodging prickly pear and low branches until we were at GZ. A search ensued and then I spotted something suspicious and was pleased to make the find. Now to get back down to the car. Definitely a favourite for the effort to collect this one after it has not been found for almost 18 months.
Found previously with BlackOpal2005. We thought it was time to create our own accounts.
We were picking up stray caches today and don’t usually go for Multies unless a last resort. Though Mrs Riddell does enjoy them and makes them the bane of Mr Riddells caching day!
This one was almost next to where we were and we both like a challenge so it was game on.
We took the GPSr all armed for the chirp, but sad to say as in previous logs the chirp has probably died a long time ago, so it was a case of working the numbers and getting on with it.
At GZ, it could have been anywhere but Mrs Riddell paid close attention to the hint and her phone Reference was spot on.
She took a quick look at what was on offer and zoned straight into the right one.
At first it appeared bleak but she insisted it must be there.
A bit more of an alternate look and feel and poke, after a minor rearrangement if the deck chair and she had it in hand very quickly.
Felt sorry for all those who searched so long.
Thanks for bringing us here.
WP 1 is an amazing tribute, with very well meaning placement , but unwittingly placed out of reach and communication with the average “passer by”.

After some excitement of FTF’s nearby we left the car at the parking waypoint to try our luck with the Chirp. Hmmm 2 devices failed to pick up the signal so we are guessing it’s not longer chirping chirping. So we did it the old fashioned way and calculated the coordinates from the plaque projection. Then we made our way up and over to GZ enjoying the magnificent scenery as we went. Took ages to locate the elusive cache but finally the male Triton yelled he had it. Whoopee.
Thanks Bushtrakkers for the multi placement.
Thanks Bushtrakkers for the multi placement.
I suspect The_Tritonz visited here after me - pretty certain I saw them leave the Old Coach Road as I headed in. Doing a note here rather than a DNF - certain it is here just didn’t have the time to search properly (so much grass and I needed to get home). Took a photo of the plaque and will check my numbers again as well - serious chance I got something wrong here.
I will be back for this one (and the many others around Eldorado)

Well what do you know - I transcribed a 9 instead of a 0 (I blame small screens) and so was looking in the wrong spot - the final coordinates look a lot better (and much closer to where I thought they would be).
Will be back for another look!

Meeting up for the first time with Catnap777 and her muggle hubby in Eldorado, we decided to introduce ourselves by meeting at the general store and covering some familiar ground for them while getting my name on this remarkable cache that has been on several of my "must do" lists for way too long.
Honestly, I thought Catnap777 just wanted to laugh at me as I stumbled around GZ to find the prize she had already earned.
Turns out we enjoyed each other's company very much and I do believe this hide marks the beginning of yet another fine friendship brought about by geocaching. [^]
It really was a well put together cache combining some significant local history with some remarkable scenery leading to a clean, dry cache found signed and returned in excellent condition.
Thanks Bushtrakkers for the view, the history lesson, the friendships forged here and the Tupperware.
A fav coming your way.

Just had to bring my team mate here today to show him this area, which would be such an asset to the town, if the area was maintained. A monument to such a courageous man should be made accessible to most. I came here today as catnap777 as well, since l was here only on Sunday. I was so happy to know that l indeed was in the right spot on Sunday, but for some reason it had to be today for me to put my hand on the cache. Better late than never, and it is a better feeling when you have someone special there with you. Thanks for the cache which was found in good condition
Told you l was going to be out today to give this another go. Obviously I was taught navigation by the best. That's my partner Reggie if you couldn't guess that already, because l was indeed in the right spot. But l said all that in my teams log. So now, all there is left to do is bask in the ambience, and take a look at our photo we added to the post.
Good one. As a member of TeamOZCAT logged in this cache, I am now logging as an individual predominatley to avoid any mistaken revisitation. I thank CO/s for cache placement.
Out at this fantastic spot today to undertake my favourite type of multi, in an absolutely amazing spot. Did not find the cache today, but l will be back, as l think it is well worth the effort to find it. Roll on Tuesday!
The monument had great views in the late afternoon over the golden valleys.
The calculations were done easy enough and took me to the expected place, after reading the previous logs i expected a long search......so naturally i found it straight away with accurate coordinates, maybe just lucky, but satisfying.
This one really deserves more love, thanks

Got to the monument -Chirp did not CHIRP.. Did the sums, with so many possible locations at what I hope was GZ the cache could be anywhere.
Looked for I don't know maybe.....20 minutes, couldn't find it, thanks for the history lesson anyway.

Woohoo!! Finally found it after spending almost an hour looking.
Had trouble to start with as the compass on the phone was playing crazy and was telling us to look at the wrong side of the monument. Thankfully we were on top of a hill and the Geowife said 'that's the Warbys over there so that has to be West.'
Pity that this is not set up with better access as I am sure if more people knew that it was up there and how awesome the view is it would be a popular spot.
Absolutely stunning place and it was a really nice cool day too. Deserves a favourite.

An unfortunate DNF for me. Made the easy enough climb to the memorial, did the sums, twice, and made my way to GZ where I started searching. Initially found nothing so consulted the hint, no kidding! After a further broad search, and then checking everything twice, I came up empty handed. It will be there but it is a bit of a haystack and the long grass was not helping.
I had three or four caches near Eldorado in mind for today, but had a quick look for a few others along the way from Bright. Although there may not be a path, there was a few star pickets with white caps to follow up to the saddle. From there it was easy going to the memorial. My GPS couldn't detect the Chirp, so it was back to the old fashioned method.
I projected my waypoint and made my way to GZ where the cache was found a couple of minutes later.
My thanks to Bushtrakkers for the cache.

I FOUND IT!
So after a massive ordeal I finally put my hands on this cache today!
Trip one took me to the monument and I worked out the waypoint projection. But I had no idea what waypoint projection was and entered it all wrong on my GPS (see the below post).
Trip two saw me armed with the correct way points.... or so I thought. these waypoints came out of a phone app and put me way, way WAY of course. But I had no idea and searched in vain for the elusive bushman cache!
Trip three I still had the same waypoints and spent a good 40 minutes moving every rock from the center of the GPS signal to no avil. But this time I had a plan, I had a feeling that the co-ords were wrong and I had found the function in the GPS to project the waypoint. So I did it. It took me 54 meters away almost right to this cache, I was so happy I just sat there admiring the view and enjoying the find.
As a side note this cache has not been found since 2014 by the official log book, giving me some 2 years of unloved goodness!

Went to find GC3WWVV today and many confusing things happened.
First I live in Eldorado and had no idea we had a memorial to a solider from the bore war. I'm pretty sure no one in town does either. It's ontop of a big ass overgrown Hill and no one has been there for ages.
Second after working out the clue I had no idea what to do so I put them into the GPS as I thought was correct.... Not knowing what the hell waypoint projection was or that it was even a thing. This took me on a 1.2km hike.
Right across reedy Creek and this old dilapidated bridge. My dog showed me that even without having balls he has more than me and crossed it several times before I got the courage.
All this was for nothing. Because of the protection thing. So basically I took myself for a long as walk to nowhere.

Out and about enjoying the Chiltern bush and nearby surrounds with DazRascal today.
We thought Eldorado might be a nice spot to stop for lunch and decided it was time to tackle this cache and glad we did.
After finding an awesome spot to park (so it turns out) we made the trek to the start co-ords with the Ez boys very interested in the recent fires and why some things burnt and some didn't. A lesson for all of us in something today.
A very interesting spot for a monument and one we probably would have never visited if it wasn't for a cache. Many thanks for your informative cache notes too.
Many thanks for the multi Bushtrakkers. TNLN SL. Cheers.

Have been to Eldorado many times since this cache has been published but always bypassed it for some reason, mainly thinking the amount of DNFs it has had but looking closer at the DNF logs there isn't that many at all, could have sworn there were more but maybe I was thinking of another cache ??
Anyway I realise I have been putting off a great cache. Was glad I made the time to go find it today while out and about with the Ez clan.
Found a track and parked only 150mt away from posted coords, not realising there was a wpt for parking. Turns out it was a good place to park in the end
Was a bit sceptical about finding anything here today after a recent fire has burnt the hilltop surrounding the monument, as it turns out the chirp, monument and cache are all good. The fire had actually made it easier in burning out everything so was much easier to traverse from the monument to Gz.
Such an interesting place for a monument , would have never expected something like that to be in a place it is.
Great views at Gz too [^]
This is what I like about caching, earns a fave point from me, Cheers.

What a fantastic cache! Went with the family to find this one. After revisiting the monument after 20 years, we headed off to find this cache. Had a close call with some slippery boulders, but finally found this cache. Was super excited to find it. What a view!
Yes! Used the 'other' method, ended up in the same area looking under the same rocks, and quickly turned it up! Must have had my eyes painted on last week.... TFTC, nice little multi....
Got answers quickly and set off to GZ, arrived where I thought the cache might be but after 45 minutes of peering under every rock for quite a distance around gave up. Will try another method next time. I wonder if bearing is true or magnetic? One of those caches where a team would be much more efficient than an individual....
After driving up the little grassy lane and making the short climb up the hill it really is a surprise the see this little monument in the middle of nowhere, even though you know it is there. We are not chirp enabled at the moment so had to take on the second option, we entered the numbers into our GPSr........and it shut down. oh no, i checked the batteries earlier and they seemed good. Turn her back on.....and ....off it goes again. Oh well we decided thems the breaks lets head back to the car. but first i'll have one last go at the GPSr. this time it stayed on.
Finally arriving at GZ with the batteries still going strong and after a bit of a seaarch we finally had the cache in hand. We decided to take the T5 hike back to the car and went straight down the side of the hill.

#730 A day of exploring and caching as we enjoy a week off work. Thoroughly enjoyed this one and a good workout too! A very interesting story and site and also a well constructed multi. After calculating the direction and distance for GZ we set off and surprisingly came up with the cache relatively quickly. We could see rain on the Warby Ranges in the distance so we made a quick descent back to the car and not long after it started spitting. Discovered some pathtags that had been sitting in the cache for a while so have added them to our growing collection. This is one of the best caches we have done and deserving of a favorite point.

I tried to find this cache yesterday while driving past in the geomobile.
I found the parking spot and the dogs that were barking at me.
But there was no sign of a memorial to anybody [:o]
My coords were showing the start up a prickly hill [?]
So I gave up and headed off to the next cache
Today I was back after reading the cache notes p-r-o-p-e-r-l-y
And after abandoning the geomobile in the shade of an olive tree, I wandered off up the prickly hill [:o]
A scramble through the prickles, long grass and rocks later I arrived at the top of a hill and noted that what looked from a distance like a 'lopped' tree was actually a stone memorial to symbolise a "Life cut short" [:o]
And after reading the plaques attached to the memorial, I found out why our heroes life was cut short.
But why is the memorial up here ?
So unvisited and so unseen from the towne that erected it ?
At least I got to visit this amazing spot with the really nice view today
I sat down in a shady spot to listen for a 'chirp'.
I heard one !!
But it was a cricket [:o)]
So I used method 'B' to determine where to head to next
Off I trotted.
And found a likely spot to hide a cache
But it still took me a good 15 minutes to track the cache down
So finally I can say TFTC, the forgotten Eldorado history and the fun and games

#5166 We had attended the Heroes and Villains during the course of the weekend but had returned to Eldorado to collect a few caches that we had not been able to get last night or this morning (after a few too many lemonades ). Given that there were so few finds on this cache it was a must do for us today as we both try to gain some fitness after our health issues during the year. Luckily it was late afternoon, even then it was quite hot heading to the 1st stage.....why oh why did we leave the water in the car [?]. We didn't have the opportunity to read the cache page in depth before attempting to find this cache so we were quite surprised with the monument up top. We both have chirp enabled GPS's one picked it up really quickly whilst the other didn't for some reason. Still we knew where we needed to go so headed off in that direction. We started looking in earnest and the sun still had quite a bit of bite to it. After a bit of a search Dad took a seat - the Queen checked this spot and voila..... the cache - funny! We thought this was a ripper cache and are adding it as a favourite. Our thanks to Bushtrakkers for the cache and fun. Cheers [^]
Got this one on my third try! The first time thwarted by lack of daylight, second time wrong info, which no doubt would have also applied to first try had I continued. Third go successful thank goodness. I really didn't mind coming a few times because I enjoyed the excercise and the views, not to mention the overall challenge. Jen is less than happy with the grass seeds in my socks and clothing though.
Thanks indeed Bushtrackers

What lunacy to tackle a hill like this on such a hot day. Got to WP1 and worked out where to go next so off I continued. More lunacy I suspect. Got to GZ surrounded by rocks so think I shifted several tons of them in a vain search for the cache. Maybe another time...or maybe sanity will prevail and it will be left to others to do some fitness training followed by a session on weights.???? Loved the probably mostly forgotten memorial and the views
Called out here on two successive evenings, on the first I managed to get to the starting co-ords but was running out of daylight and didn't have a torch so I aborted the effort the first night. Came back the second time but couldn't locate the cache. I suspect I may have a number wrong so back to square one it seems.
A very interesting place all the same. I'll be back!

We (Bettyboo, Harrowang and I) drove down out of the hills and reappeared just near this cache. Harrowang had done this cache, so half stayed in the car, and half came for the walk.
I think the cache should be called Fabulous Views, because they were very impressive at both way points.
My GPSr is equipped with chirp, but I don't often get a reasonable signal. Today it decided to function, and we were off to the next way point.
Sneaky hide, but good co-ords. No snakes spotted today.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 1988. We were out caching this afternoon with Harrowang and after a very disappointing finish to our previous cache we decided to call by this one on emerging from the hills beyond. I wasn't keen on another long walk but this was a nice clear area and it was such a surprise to see a monument on top of an almost inaccessible hill. Who would have thought it and who would know of it.... without fellow geocachers pointing it out to us!! I was amazed at the views here but after another long walk I was even more amazed at the views at GZ. Excellent coordinates here. This cache made the whole afternoon's adventures worthwhile and it was a wonderful way to finish the day. Took: Nil, Left: A pathtag. Thanks Bushtrakkers.
Whoop, whoop!! FTF!! After getting halfway through this one yesterday afternoon, we contacted the CO's to make sure we were on the right track. Sorted ourselves out and came back this morning and made the find at 10.35am. The information for GZ was spot on! Fabulous views 360 degrees. A part of Eldorado we had not known about before - can't wait to bring family and friends to see the impressive monument hidden away. Took: Coke TB Left: Australia Flag badge & gumnut PT. TFTC and a visit to some pretty hill country not far from home, oh and a favourite point from us also. #1290
I went to this one at 9.30pm Friday night and trudged up the hill in the wet grass to the monument.
I checked the numbers two or three times then off I set, to a major dissapointment as there is no way I could find the cache after a 40 min search in fading head torch light. The hint didn't help me as there must have been 400 of them there. I got back to the car at around 11.00 with soaked feet and trousers and headed off to lay out the swag beside Reedy creek for the remainder of the night.
Driving past on Sat morning it looked so much easier in daylight so after getting another nearby cache in 2.5 seconds I thought I'd go back for another go. On the way up I almost tripped over an echidna and scared off half a dozen 'roos. I rechecked the numbers and ended up at the same spot as last night but this time started a bigger search only to find a brown snake under the second rock I checked so that pretty much ended any further searching.
I now see that I've made it home it's been found so maybe I had the numbers wrong or maybe I just don't know what I'm doing.
Thanks for bringing me here anyway Bushtrakkers.

This is a work in progress...we came out at 10pm, Started the journey up the dreaded hill that we didn't think was going to be that steep and slippery with a 3 terrain. We pretty much slid on our bums the whole way down. We decided not to go to the other WP after finding the first one as we decided it was far to dangerous for tonight. I wouldn't recommend this be attempted at night. We will be back
