Not sure its still here as road is closed off, we still came to look but couldnt find it. CO may need to re evaluate as hasnt been found since 2023?
Was looking too low. Only found it once I eliminated all other options.

Heading home after a long weekend 4x4 trip into Quail flat. Tuesday morning all is quiet here. Saw them having fun last night. Looked in the wrong place to start with then spotted the hint. Happy to sign this today thanks for the cache bumandworker.
Having a milestone birthday this weekend, my aim was 50 caches. That was too much for one day so the 50 finds were spread over the celebratory weekend, 1/2 on my way South and 1/2 on my way North.
This was find number 13 and not too bumpy on Bumblebee.

Had a short bike ride in the area this afternoon. Picked up a handful of caches but not this one. Came across a pile of rocks but none of them seemed to be hiding the cache. Couldn’t find anything else that seemed promising, and the blackberry didn’t make this an attractive area! Muggles weren’t a concern on this occasion but I decided to move on after a short but unsuccessful search.
What a big woops we had here, not thinking a great place for the young drivers. It is Saturday afternoon and lots of fun being had. The tracks were blocked with vehicles so we left this one for another trip and to try a week day.
Nice quick find in a deserted area, and excellent timing - as soon as I returned the cache a started walking back, three different pairs of muggles with dogs appeared! TFTC!!
Very quiet at the speedway today so wandered across with Campmotherandken and found the cache! TFTC
Wow the speedway was really busy with about 8 cars all taking turns to hoon around. What a great idea! Lovely beach at the end of the road. Cache is all good. TFTC
Took a short detour bear the end of a 4 hour ride around the Kaikoura Cycle Trail.
There were around 10 cars taking turns doing tyre burning laps, which was rather entertaining. Nobody took any notice of me as a scrambled about in the bushes on the far side of the track.

We tried for this one the other day but a bunch of Hop goers were doing burnouts on the track so not a good time. Back again today and place was almost empty. We drove to GZ and were hidden from the other vehicle. A quick find then just had to wait for the learner driver to exit the track before we headed off again. tftc
Heading back to Christchurch after a short break in Kaikoura, caching with purdiepurdie. We set ourselves a time limit and found a few caches along the way before then.
I had no idea this speedway was here - did the obligatory circuit before heading back to the road. TFTC, b&w.

TFTC. A fun caching escape to Kaikoura with kotukuSI.
What a lovely area of the country to wander.
A few homeward caches.
KSI did a great lap here.

What a cool wee track. Not much here today though, was deserted. Tempted to have a blast around it in the ute but it looked a bit tight. TFTC Bum, quick find, all good.
I was in Kaikoura today, and the weather is fine so a good chance to stretch the legs and get some fresh air.
I targeted a number of walks, some of which were quite short - the peninsular walk from South Bay, South Bay track, Cook track and Ludley Farm, Kowhai cycle trail, and a few other short ones into and along the beach south of the town.
Mostly all good. Replacement logs added when indicated. Didn’t come across many people at all on my travels today, so it was mostly just me, my headphones and my podcasts. Relaxing! 22 for the day, no DNFs that had not already been DNFed previously. Thanks all COs.

Meanwhile this is my third geocaching-trip to Middle-Earth . And I love it! [:X]
Still there are routes and places in this beautiful country that are on the 'discover-me' list and want to be visited and explored. .
After a 3-days side-trip to New Caledonia I gladly returned to NZ , via AKL to the South-Island - Christchurch [^].
Day #19 was dedicated to picking up some caches / challenges / pre-solved mysteries around CHR-Airport and along the scenic ride up north to Kaikora .
Today, the day was my friend [^]! Not a single DNF !
Picked up quite some treasures - Just like this one:
A nice park & grab at a completely lost place . Must’ve been a nice race course once .
Thanks to the owner [:X] for placing and maintaining this cache and best regards from Germany!

Found with NZDi. This morning I stirred as NZDi got out of bed and must have dozed back off because when I woke again an hour later her car was missing and she was nowhere to be seen. I sorted out something for breakfast and was half way through it when she came in the door after a walk in the Wither Hills Farm Park and said 'Rattle ya dags, we're going to Kaikoura to do some caching'. While she showered, I cleaned up breakfast and ran a couple of Pocket Queries, the route to Kaikoura (slim pickings) and everything within a 15km radius of Kaikoura. That gave us a fine selection. While I had my shower, she prepared a picnic lunch and we headed out the door around 8.30am.
This was our eighth find of the day and if I had known NZDi was going to suggest we go caching in Kaikoura today, I wouldn't have washed her geo-mobile yesterday. The track to GZ put paid to the effort I put in yesterday, that's for sure. Once at GZ it was a QEF PnG. At least it wasn't in a flax bush.

You are so right. Every town needs one of these. Found with Jude_E on a good day's caching on the way to Kaikoura. Cache all safe and dry. TFTH
After Busy paws hooned around the race track, she pulled on the handbrake and screeched to a halt on the hairpin. We bounded out of the car and quickly located the cache. We zoomed off but had to slow for the bumpity bumps along the access road. Thanks for the hide. #3472
Neat little track, I think my Ute is a bit too big to get up any actual speed on it, but I took a spin anyway. Tftc.
We had been putting off stopping here and looking for quite a while, but today was the day. Found with Mporokosa. TFTC
#15845. Not my best bit of navigation here, but by the time I'd signed the log Troodles had turned the car round and we were ready to go. Interesting spot. TFTC.
Day #2 of StreetWalker and my weekend in Kaikoura, and after a little bit of drizzle first thing, it turned into a lovely mild day.
We should have driven on to the old circuit, instead we drove on the rather rutted and bumpy stop bank. I dropped SW off to look for the cache while I went to the end to turn round. It didn't take him long to find the cache. TFTC.

Many thanks to all the COs who helped make our geocaching holiday a great success
We left home early April and returned 21 May 2018. We toured from our home base up to a wedding in North Taranaki then carried on heading south right down through wellington and on down the west coast and back up via the eastern side of the alps some times going around in circles. Our aim was to get as many smiley faces on the puzzle caches that we had solved but of course stopping for many traditionals, multies and others as we went. some time we biked the bike trails or walked but mostly by campervan. we enjoyed the quite back country roads, many of them were metal but we just travelled along slowly going from cache to cache. Most caches were in good condition and I will remark if we thought it needs maintence etc.

Its Sunday of our epic journey of Kaikoura, waking to a frosty but beautiful day and clear blue skies.
Kaikoura Speedway was our park over place with Zara. This cache was first on my list as we were only meters away. Cheers

After an impromptu night stay in Kaikoura, I spent today finding as many caches as I could and doing a bit of exploring, before continuing on to Christchurch. Having found the cache, it would've been rude to leave the area without doing a lap or two . TFTC (3066)
Here in Kaikoura playing in the Squash open... game today isn't till 1pm - so have time for a wee cycle with hubby along one of the great trails in the area.
While hubby was tethering the bikes back on the rack - I darted across the road in between cars and ran down to this one. No hoons here today - just a couple of dog walkers.

Our recent multi day Canterbury cache raid was so successful we decided to have another one before the holidays finished. Again we got stabbed, prodded, pricked and scraped by the variety of hedges the region is so famous for. And of course we can now hold our breath a lot longer. A skill well worth developing to avoid breathing in part of the road surface every time a vehicle passes. Just over 200 finds were logged this time and a great time was had finding the caches with a variety of shapes, sizes and placements. A big thank you to all COs who made this possible.
With a few more days of holidays left we decided to head south again and find some caches we didn't have time to look for last week, plus some more off the beaten track. This was one of 51 found today.
Thank you to all CO's who made this possible.

It's Leap weekend, whatever that is, and a chance for a couple of souvenirs if I manage to achieve certain (easy) caching feats so all is good in the world. A surprise email yesterday from Nelson's K_E asking if I wanted a (mini) road-trip to Kaikoura for a bit of mountain biking and a bit of caching replaced what I had got planned, nothing.
Up and off at 0730 this morning we headed down the road, bikes all aboard for what turned out to be 30 caches each and a thoroughly good days caching, different scenery and a good chat about all sorts of things. Headed steadily towards the Kowhai Cycle/power trail to grab all of those recent placements and enjoy the tracks on the bikes.
After heading along the poorly formed council version of the cycle trail we came and found the proper cycle track, a pleasant cycle back to the car grabbing caches at regular intervals, and even a bonus FTF.
Split up at this point. I headed back towards the beach and grabbed a few whilst K_E headed back by car to Kekeno Park entrance.

I approached from the wrong side and that was a bit tricky... Nice place, thanks for showing us and TFTC!
quickly found. Log all munched up and damp, replaced with a waterproof one. A great facility here, not designed for Hilux's tho!
Driving a car back to Palmerston North for a friend. Quick stop for a easy find. Thanks for the cache.
Found this easily, but I came from wrong side (beach). So the terrain was slightly more difficult.

Bush bashed in the middle of the night. Its a wonder we didn't wake the other campers. Found the cache and decided to return it in the light of day after drying it out tftc
We arrived late evening and noticed a couple of tents here. No signs saying no camping so we figured it was ok to camp, the ground was very rocky almost impossible to get tent pegs in but comfortable. After setting up camp, had dinner and sat down to relax for a while. Realised there was a cache not far away. After everything was quiet we went for the cache. Didnt take the best route and trying to be quite. Log was quite damp and bag munted so took it back to the tent for the night. In the morning I dried the log out on the bonnet of the car while we packed up. Replaced the bag and cache before leaving. TFTC

[green] An awesome weekend caching to and fro Kaikoura, on a strangely empty State Highway 1. But two things marred it - one: I could only do a two day weekend, despite that this is a three day weekend - I suddenly got dumped with a ton of homework and I better do some study. And two: Someone smashed a side window on the car and stole the sleeping bag. So this weekend is going to be a lot more expensive than I had bargained for . Still... 120 caches! That will be a weekend record for me. And just about every cache between Blenheim and Kaikoura converted to yellow smilies. Lots of walking, sunburn, dust. Big smiley on my face even if not in my pocket! Took me all day to get to Kaikoura from Blenheim yesterday, on my way back today.
Hey! I had heard about this place! Awesome! Gets a fav just for making such a facility publicaly available any time, no cover charge, no entry fee, no spectator charges. Nice.
I notice as I am logging this that this track is not marked on the map (I use the Leaflet option, rather than google maps). Will add it later tonight.

First cache of the morning, we made a mistake and drove close to GZ - not a good idea in a 2WD. But managed to escape without any damage. Quick find, TFTC
Came out to Kaikoura for a wee family weekends adventure. Late afternoon and we'd done all the family stuff.....and the wee dudes needed a bit of a rest. Left Nana and Grandad in charge and headed out for a run with Mrs G. After the run we detoured to grab this cache. Great wee spot. Quick find and sign. Cheers.
Our first find on our trip south, nice day quick find ,a slow lap round till Mrs Ra wanted to drive her car!

A hidden treasure. It was getting dark. The last cache for the day. 19 found today.
Raced around to get this one just before dark. Last one for the day and glad to say my 800th.....yay me. Lets go get dinner i'm hungry.
Added to the agenda after the Peninsula track was closed. The GPS map found the correct road in and then the GPS pointed to the cache.
Thanks.
Thanks.
The bike on the back of the car and a standing start meant I couldn't break 30 seconds. I'm sure without the bike and a second attempt it would be a piece of cake though. Good fun.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.

We left the car open on the track thinking noone would be around today. I was just in the middle of signing the log when we heard a 4W Bike coming from the beach. We quickly put the cache away and shot back to the car and made it outta there before anyone even knew we were there. Thanks for the cache

13799... Made a pitstop to collect the cache, then we completed a couple of hot laps... very cool speedway, TFTC.
This is a trip I did from Christchurch to Picton today with the main purpose to find 50 caches that each are 1 km apart so as to complete a part of a challenge I want to complete.
No-one was burning rubber today.
Cheers for the cache.

5407. The first day of our geocaching trip. This was find number seven. A quick and easy find in a very interesting area with traffic zooming by not far away on the highway. The access road in was wet and bumpy but the turning circle was good. Thanks for the cache. Rodney and Iris.
Great to provide a playground like this for the petrol heads. Approached this one on a bike at a much more sedate speed.
Time for lunch and a quick spin round the track!!! All safe and sound and dry. TNLN. TFTC.
Missed this one on my last trip past, someone was camped nearby and it was at night so I left it for another day, which obviously was today!

Quick find while returning from Kaikoura for cache maintenance. Log is quite damp with water in cache. Dried it out and resealed.
Nice bumpy ride in our campervan down the road to this one then a quick drive round the abandoned speedway! Easy find. TFTC
After a rather bumpy ride down the track F6w had great fun driving the campervan round the track!! Nice easy one. TFTC
Every town needs one of these, thumbs up to the local people who enabled this to be provided for the young people. GK did take the campervan for a circuit. ML was particularly fond of the tree.
Took the People Mover for a couple of laps. Hit all the apex's. Must have hit upwards of 50km/h on the main straight. [^] Fun over. Time to find the cache. "Under rock." Funny guy.
