We are camped at the golf course for a motorhome GC holiday. Today we packed a picnic and went for a trip to find the local GC's. Glad to have a nice day, but cold wind after all the rain.
Thanks for this cache drawp.

Thanks for hiding this cache drawp I appreciate it. Jude_E found it. This might be the last mighty oak today.
First find of the day as we head off to explore the areas that were under water when we road A2O last Saturday. TFTC
The first of these for me travelling with Spoonz2. Such a lovely concept for a memorial. Tftc
On a return trip from Timaru, we decided to collect the next cluster of oaks. Road is very busy today (Labour Weekend) so had to be very careful while pulling the car over to find these. Found with Flumsy2
Away in the Geocamper on a TMGT mission around the lower South Island. And one more for Mrs S because it was on her side of the road. That's all for today, need to get to Oamaru.
Thanks drawp.
Thanks drawp.
On a detour to get the TMGT caches near Duntroon. Getting a number of these series on the way there and back. Quick find here. Tftc
#17960. First find of leap day 2020. We'd come down to North Otago to make sure e could get a healthy leap day total. I was keen to get at lest 26 finds (to get my leap day total up to 50). We had no trouble achieving that (got 56 finds in the end). TFTC.
Day 2 of StreetWalkerNZ and my long weekend in and around Oamaru. Today we wanted to polish off the remaining unfound Mighty Oak caches as well as bike some more of the A2O series.
Left our accommodation at 7:30am, picked up lunch supplies at New World then drove to this cache. As we had hoped, SH83 was pretty quiet at this time of the morning. First find for leap day 2020, and am pretty sure, I dated the log with yesterdays date . TFTC.

Thanks out and about in and around Oamaru geocaching with Kiscardi. A lovely autumn day today.
This is day four of a ten day trip down to Dunedin and back to move my daughter to Dunedin so she can get her master’s degree at Otago University.
I am now on the road heading north. I don’t need to make too many miles, so I can concentrate on a few caches.
I am on my way to get a divine point nearby, so I stopped to get this cache. TFTC.

Found on our return road trip from Papamoa to Dunedin. No problem with the find. Merry Christmas and TFTC.
Had missed this one the other day so decided to get it on my way home via Kurow and round the lake. Think I have all the info for the bonus now - will check further up the road where I can pull off. Busy along here today.
Spent the afternoon dodging showers and caching before heading to the prize giving. TFTC

My preparations for this trip clearly being grossly inadequate I didn't know about these caches and hence was no help to my colleagues in the quiz team answering the question about it. They told me about and we resolved to visit a few of them today. This was the first one we visited and it was by turns moving, and sad. Paid our respects and signed the log. I think it's a good thing you bring people to visit these fallen heroes, thanks for the cache.
Jess.daphne and I teamed up for the race and this is one of the caches we found on the day. Such fun! We signed the log as Jeje in order to save time. Thanks for the cache!
A quick driveby find on our way past heading towards Oamaru and further south today. TFTC

Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn’t be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn’t take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code. .

I enjoyed learning about the Mighty Oaks whilst trying to solve the puzzles pre Geofest. I found a book in the National Library about them. A quick find while out and about on the Geofest race. Signed FITE. TFTC
Found while racing around Oamaru with Injeanious. We signed the log as JeJe. TFTC!
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… Our journey to the bottom of the South Island has been almost two years in the planning. We were determined to make it to Oamaru Geofest. We decided to also factor in completing a couple of missions (JASMER and Virtual challenges), and the wheels started turning...
Day Five: Oamaru Geofest
We decided to spend our morning in the north, around the Top Hat series. There were so many hides in this area. Today was going to be about piling on numbers... Gap and I worked out a system that helped to move things along, and it great that most hides were in good order and in play. Most caches were quick finds... Great to have one more find... Apologies for the generic logs. TFTC.

This area is amazing so much to see and do and the Steampunk around is incredible a wonderful place to visit. Thank you for placing a cache here and bringing us to this area, signed the log and placed the cache back where we found it. TFTC
It took me only 10 months to get back to GZ to have another look. I have a new smiley now. Cheers
We arrived in Oamaru last night with the intention of finding as many of our solved puzzles as we could in the couple of days we had here. Today's target was the Mighty Oaks series, and I do not think we truly understood the distances we would be needing to cover to pick these all up. We had found just a handful of these (3?) a few years ago on a fleeting one day trip from Rakaia to Moeraki and back, and were keen to complete this series.
Most of the caches were easy finds with the hints, and at each one we carefully worked out and recorded the numbers for the Bonus caches, which were our main targets. Thanks for setting up this series. These Mighty Oaks make great memorials for so many local fallen soldiers. We appreciate the way we needed to take note of (and therefore pay our respects to) each soldier's individual name and details as a means to getting the numbers for the puzzle caches.
Thanks for replacing the cache at #22, our first find of the day.

Unfortunately it seems there has been some heavy strimming going on. I could not find the actual cache container here today. Will look again soon. Cheers
You may want to check this one as there has been a recent weed thrashing episode happening and it appears to have taken out the cache
Out geocaching with Waitaki Girls on Activities Day, good day with great finds TFTC

In the area for the day so I thought that I would grab a few caches. Was looking in the note book for codes until I read the description and realised that I had to get info from the plaque.
Went a roadtrip today to reach my goal of 1,000 before the new year. With a muggle we put a pin in the map (Duntroon) so off we went, as we needed to meet out goal didn't start caching till we reached Oamaru. Although it wasn't the ideal weather we have great fun and at several of the stops along the way decided to get thermos and choc bickies out.
Opps almost missed logging this one. Thanks for this series

The plan was hatched a few years ago now and it has been a standing weekend away with a few of us mad keen cachers. This trip was made up of Karma Reprint, Team_Gaters and me (TheWanglers). We couldn't use a previous anagram to sign the logs as one member was in Aussie. So we had to come up with another... Hmm, KiTT? We decided on KiTT but after signing the first few logs something KR mentioned took a while for me to sink in and I didn't really take on board until the next time I signed the log. "Hey, the double 'TT' looks like Pi!". Oh, that's what KR said! So we signed the log this trip as KaTT pronounced 'Kapai'! And the trip was kapai!!! We had an epic weekend starting with a detour to Peel Forrest for a few FTFs, stopped in Omaru, thrashed Dunedin and detoured to Port Charmers for a FTF and then back to Pleasant Point and Peel Forrest to finish off the weekend with more FTFs. We got home to our families at a respectable hour after clocking up just over 1100km!
We had a few milestones we really wanted to crack. My 4000th, TG's 5000th and KR's 10,000th. We cracked my and KR's goal and got really close for TG. It really is about the numbers. This trip was awesome as it has given me some ideas
Took a bit to locate as I didn't look carefully enough in the first place I looked.
Thanks for the cache.

Show weekend and a Road Trip to Dunedin with 'The Boys'....Karma Reprint & TheWanglers. Initially came up with the acronym KiTT but on seeing the TT looked like a Pi symbol we quickly changed to Ka(Pi) (ie. Kapai)....and a fantastic weekend it was. 3 days, 1100km, a heap of caches and great fun.
TW made the find as we headed to Oamaru for some Lunch...cheers.

Headed down south with C&D and 11HPG11 for the CHCH Mega as part of the HOAC team, and decided that a Mega road trip/Mega Mission was the right thing to do. After a great day caching from Dunedin to Omarama we manged to get a few hours sleep before the big day 2 started.
Day 2 was the start of a ambitious plan to try and find as many caches as possible in one day! To maximise our chances of a big number we decided a 24 hour caching day was the only way to go. What an epic day, and some great moments too. The rough idea was to cache from Omarama to Oamaru, and then head north towards Christchurch. A huge thanks to everyone for the cache placments, and I apologise for the copy and past logs.
Find #228 for the day.

This was the start of a MEGA caching weekend in the company of good caching friends. In the company of both HKCB & 11HPG11 this was going to be another memorable caching road trip for many reasons.
This is the mission that we had set ourselves up for several months back. It was HKCB's idea, I was just dumb enough to think it was a challenge and I'd be up for it, 11HPG11 was silly enough to come along for the ride once we confirmed a spare seat (Nova Lightening pulled out for family reasons).
We were going to try to beat the NZ one day record in New Zealand (it would have been easier with 4 people), so after 2.5hrs sleep after a good feed at Omarama we were ready to go. This was the number two hundred and thirtyith on what was to be an epic day with what amounted to 401 caches collected for the day and about 38 DNF's. We managed this with 10minutes to spare but by this time we were done for and still had to drive back to Kaiapoi. All in all an epic days caching with good friends and something I don't think any of us will repeat in a hurry.
All in all it was going to be a big day with a number of challenges, great scenery, and of course great company. Fantastic driving along and up here as the landscape was so different from what we are used to back in the Waikato. One good thing about backroads being that we could continue our neferious activites without being disturbed by muggles.
Nice quick find here without any issues .
thanks for the placement , thanks for the cache

What a Mega Mission for a group of Hamilton Over Achievers! A great trip, a long time in the planning. I teamed up with Cats&Dragons and HKCB to grab a couple of caches while in Christchurch and surrounding areas for the 2015 Mega Event. We flew out from Auckland on Friday night and traveled to Dunedin in the dark of the night. Stopped for a few hours sleep before setting off to grab caches in the Otago area on Saturday before attempting a few more on Sunday and then arriving at the Mega on the Monday. An amazing, yet crazy road trip
When C&D mentioned a day with over 400 caches I should have turned and ran... instead I said yes, and here we are. 401 caches in 23 hours and 50 minutes. All done on about 2.5hr of sleep. It was hard work with only 3 of us and there were times that were hard and tiring but I still had a blast! An amazing experience that one has to be slightly crazy to even consider
Loved looking around here. Thanks for placing the caches to show us around.

I would have loved to go nuts and find all of this series, but it looks like a gradual completion over time will be required... I just hope I manage to file the information for the mysteries in a place where I will be able to find it also... TFTC!!

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url]
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands [8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]
During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:
Chapter 5: [green]Twizel[/green] to [red]Oamaru[/red]
After a stormy and rainy previous day, the rain had stopped this morning
Therefore we could search for some caches during our drive...and this time without our ponchos
This cache of a wonderful cache series, with a terrific story, was one of them
For us it was often not so easy to find a place for the car, but with the given hint it was almost easy to find the cache
I would like to thank [Navy]'drawp'[/Navy] for showing us these historical oaks and maintaining this brilliant cache series,

5950. Another quick find. Thanks for all the great information. We are on a mission to get to 6000 cache finds by Thursday - had plans for thirty caches today using the local bush walks around Waimate, but heavy rain overnight wiped those plans so we are heading for Oamaru instead, hoping to pick up several ad lib caches on the way. We now have 50 more to find in the next two days! Thanks for the cache. Rodney and Iris.
Our fifth mighty oaks find for today and we are still not there. Will have to try and keep the notes somewhere and come back and do a run of them.
I really like the concept of the local community planting these trees as a memorial to local heros who fell during WWI.
Thanks for sharing.

Found on our Invercargill to Christchurch road trip. We had a day around Oamaru so decided to go for a drive in the countryside. Thanks to all the cache owners who have put out some great caches in some great locations, we enjoyed our trip and enjoyed many of the places we found ourselves. SL TFTC.
Picking up a few more of the series along this road.
A quick PnG for this one.

Headed out for a weekend of crazy caching with sharkiefan - it was all about numbers this weekend!
For me personally, I needed the numbers so that I could get enough caches to bring my average a day back up to 4 caches at least for this year, as on a streak it's not really possible to find heaps of caches in your home hood!
This was cache number 31 out of the 116 we found over the two days. And a huge thank you to all the cachers who put out all these caches! Loved the fun time we had - though weekend could have ended better!
Sorry for not writing cooler logs, but heading overseas in a couple days, and I don't exactly want to be behind in my logging then!! Haha.
Consec caching day # 405
