We are camped at the golf course for a motorhome GC holiday. Today we packed a picnic and went for a trip to find the local GC's. Glad to have a nice day, but cold wind after all the rain.
We planned to do a loop but as the road is closed we went the other way and made our way back. Will save the puzzle final for a blank dot day. Thanks for this cache drawp.

Away in the Geocamper on a TMGT mission around the lower South Island. Another one for Mr S, not easy parking the camper on this road. Not a lot of room and loads of traffic.

Thanks drawp. One day we might be back to do all the other oak trees.

Day 12 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm in catch-up mode)

Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.

Today's plan was to drive from Timaru down to Dunedin, following the coast but with plenty of side trips to get caches targeted as per above. I have been so lucky to have dry conditions my whole trip so far, with the sun really putting in an effort to convince me it wasn't winter! I didn't mind the chilly starts knowing that the rest of the day was going to be great caching conditions.

Having driven a ways to get to a TMGT cache, this cache was one I stopped at to break up my drive back towards SH1. Parking up on the side of the road, I was able to walk over to GZ to conduct my search. I had no problems finding the cache, and there were no issues with either it or the log so once signed everything was replaced back exactly as found and I was on my way again.

Thanks for placing this Cache.

Thanks a photo taken. Thanks for the information about the oak trees. I wonder how many people know the significance of them when they drive past. Anzac Day next week so a timely reminder of the sacrifice.

22033 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.

Today we went from Mount Cook to Dunedin. First, because it was sunny now, we visted the surrounding of mount Cook and the Tasman glacier. Then we drove alone and there were many caches along the road like the mighty oaks taril and many others, but a lot of them were on spots where I did not like to park a car. It were also to many to do them all, so we randomly stopped where it was safe and went for a search.

In Dunedin there are several Y2000 caches, and these we like specialy to visit. The Jasmer challenge is still not full..

#15720. The last Otago cache of the day. Good to make a dent in this series on our trip south. TFTC.

03-Jun-18
Found with StreetWalker on day 2 of our Queens Birthday weekend, on a most enjoyable Waimate - Kurow - Waimate round trip. It turned out to be a good choice to head inland as the weather was fine (though cold!) until we reached the coast on the last stage of our journey.
Last find on this section of road, it's getting darker and soon afterwards, the drizzle started so that made up our minds to head back to our accommodation in Waimate. Thanks for the scenic tour, drawp. TFTC.

I almost missed this one while looking for it but second time round I felt it under my hand. Thanks Smile

Another in the series that I am enjoying. Found on the way home on Labour Day but the road is quite busy so must be careful. Information in hand now to go get the bonus for this part of the series.

The (major road trip was about to begin) that was for the Oamaru Geofest trip in the company of HKCB and iammrwalker for a bit of a road trip across to the west coast, through Haast and in a roundabout way to Oamaru.

My trip stats were as follows: 617 caches (214 Puzzles), 3300kms, 500 litres of Petrol, 21 hours sleep, 100+hours caching time. THe weather was wonderful and apart from about a 6hour period on the sunday we had fine weather all the way and feel that we made a bit of a hole in the region.

Firstly thanks to all the CO's that put in the effort to to set up these caches and to all the CO's whose caches we did not find this trip, well we are already planning our next trip.
We worked hard at getting specific caches (especially the Geo Art around christchurch and hence our concentration on this area for the preliminary 24 hours. So after a couple of running repairs to the rental vehicle (fuses not working) we were off knowing that all ports could be charged and that sleep was for the weak.

Sorry about the copy and paste logs but that is what tends to happen with a number run of this size. Finally we have made it to Oamaru and after a shower (1st in several days), a decent feed, and it was off to find a few more caches locally before calling it quites for the evening as we have a big day tomorrow to try and get to a point whereby we all get to acheive our individual set goals.

We found caches in some amazing places & wonderful scenery today.

Having done the top hat challenges we backtracked to do a few more caches and were appreciative of the respectful effort gone into these ones so visited here. The weather turned as were at the site so in the end we made the find without collecting the information as it was really pelting down. All good here and thanks for the cache, great idea for a series.

Up in Oamaru for day #1 of the Oamaru geofest. Out with Sirbennis and KJR grabbing lots of caches. TFTC ?

21-Oct-17
Came down this way from the North for the Oamaru Geofest, and decided to add a few more days to the weekend trip and turn it into a bit of a Mega mission, starting 5pm on Wednesday 18th and finishing 3pm Monday 23rd! Teaming up with Cats&Dragons for the first 24 hours then with Iammrwalker joining the team for the remainder.
Just a few of the stats for the trip were:
- 700 caches found, including 270+ puzzles (thanks to the Christchurch Geoart)
- 3300 km's driven, using over 500L of fuel $$$
- Just over 20 hours of sleep (about 4 per day on average), and about 100 hours of caching time.
Certainly a Mega Trip!

Day 4: With the lack of sleep starting to take a toll we finished Day 3 off early and got a few hours sleep before getting back to finding about 2am this morning. Todays mission was to find caches around Tekapo before heading South through the Mackenzine Country via Hakataramea Pass, and onto Dansey's pass before coming out on the coast and heading to Oamaru for the Geofest and caching around the area.

With our names on the log book at Geofest, our bags checked into our accomodation and our bellies full. What else could we do but more caching!!

Sorry about the cut and past logs, but that seems to happen with cache runs of this size!

21-Oct-17
I found this Geocache on a Geocaching mega mission along with Cats&Dragons and HKCB. With only just over three and half thousand Geocache finds I was very much the over achiever in training. We were in the South Island to support the Oamaru Geofest event, hunt down some Jasmar and D/T harder to find Geocaches, lonely caches (those not found in more than 6 months), virtuals and try and meet some milestone numbers. We signed the logs HIC, an abbreviation of our respective Geocaching names, (H)KCB, (I)ammrwalker and (C)ats&dragons. A huge thanks to all the CO’s who placed and maintain the Geocaches we found.

I arrived in Christchurch late Thursday evening having left straight from work and was picked up by my intrepid companions in our four wheel drive rental to find they had already grabbed about 270 finds in the previous twenty four hours. I wonder if the rental company would have still let us have it had they known we would travel 3300km in it before returning it four days later? Our trip took us to Greymouth via Arthurs pass, Ngahere, down the west coast to Haast across to Hawea, Cromwell, Twizel, Aoraki Mt Cook, Tekapo, onto the east coast up to Oamaru and back up to Christchurch via Akaroa and countless diversions and small towns along the way. We slept in the car for the first two nights, grabbing some shut eye between cache finds, taking turns to drive. We rented a small place in Oamaru for the other two nights and appreciated a bed to sleep in and a hot shower. It was an amazing trip, in which I discovered the South Island has some of the most incredible scenery in the world.

In Oamaru for the Geofest.
Day #1 out and about with Gadget169 and sirbennis.
After finding a majority of the caches along and by Seven Mile Road it was down to this one to make our way back down Georgetown-Pukeuri Road.
Nice quick find. TFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… Our journey to the bottom of the South Island has been almost two years in the planning. We were determined to make it to Oamaru Geofest. We decided to also factor in completing a couple of missions (JASMER and Virtual challenges), and the wheels started turning...

Day Five: Oamaru Geofest

We decided to spend our morning in the north, around the Top Hat series. There were so many hides in this area. Today was going to be about piling on numbers... Gap and I worked out a system that helped to move things along, and it great that most hides were in good order and in play. Most caches were quick finds... It took several minutes to work out what 'X' was, Duh! TFTC.

21-Oct-17
On my way into town with Taybeedragon to attend the Oamaru Geofest, after spending the night out at Awamoko Domain (not actually its name as it turns out). Just sticking to the main road for now - we're supposed to be there about 8 or 9 oclock. It is a week later as I write this, and I'm buggered if i can remember the event's start time.
Loving this Mighty Oak series. Will have to do it again one day so as to collect all the finals.

21-Oct-17
DAY 5
Another day with a variety of caches to be found, attended and answered.
Thanks to all the CO'S for their caches and the arrangement of the Oamaru Geofest. SLTFTC

Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn’t be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn’t take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code. .

TFTC.
Down with kotukuSI to attend the Oamaru GeoFest. We had a plan to hunt down a few Mighty Oaks today. Such a fantastic reason to place a trail of caches. We managed to get quite a few Oaks today and will complete the balance over the weekend.
Thank goodness we still managed to CCC - Coffee (at Kurow), chat most of the way and cache a goodly number.
For ease signed log KP2.
It was fortuitous to meet drawp at our second Mighty Oak and could thank him in person for placing this cool trail.

We arrived in Oamaru last night with the intention of finding as many of our solved puzzles as we could in the couple of days we had here. Today's target was the Mighty Oaks series, and I do not think we truly understood the distances we would be needing to cover to pick these all up. We had found just a handful of these (3?) a few years ago on a fleeting one day trip from Rakaia to Moeraki and back, and were keen to complete this series.
Most of the caches were easy finds with the hints, and at each one we carefully worked out and recorded the numbers for the Bonus caches, which were our main targets. Thanks for setting up this series. These Mighty Oaks make great memorials for so many local fallen soldiers. We appreciate the way we needed to take note of (and therefore pay our respects to) each soldier's individual name and details as a means to getting the numbers for the puzzle caches.
Our fouth find, and now we have the coords for the first Bonus cache.

The second weekend of planned caching trips for Chelzea and I. This one started caching near Temuka and then on down to Timaru, Oamaru over Danseys Pass and then back to ChCh from Palmerston the next day. Long and winding trip in places but managed a good number of caches with only a few DNF's. Too many to remember in detail so sorry for the cut and paste logs but thanks to all the owners it was a great two days of searching new places for a good variety of caches.

This is our 1000 cache. I was very impressed by this series of caches, remembering whose who died during the First World War each tree had a small cross with a name of someone who died during the war.
As this is our 1000 cache I would like to dedicate it to all those who died during that war.

Went a roadtrip today to reach my goal of 1,000 before the new year. With a muggle we put a pin in the map (Duntroon) so off we went, as we needed to meet out goal didn't start caching till we reached Oamaru. Although it wasn't the ideal weather we have great fun and at several of the stops along the way decided to get thermos and choc bickies out.

Took the long grass route to this one as thought it wasa first not second from where we parked. Managed to get this out and back without drawing attention.

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] Razz
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands Red Face[8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list Cool
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches Surprised
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches Wink
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution Cool
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]

During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC Sad
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:

Chapter 5: [green]Twizel[/green] to [red]Oamaru[/red]
After a stormy and rainy previous day, the rain had stopped this morning Smile
Therefore we could search for some caches during our drive...and this time without our ponchos Smile

This cache of a wonderful cache series, with a terrific story, was one of them Razz
For us it was often not so easy to find a place for the car, but with the given hint it was almost easy to find the cache Big GrinCoolSmile

I would like to thank [Navy]'drawp'[/Navy] for showing us these historical oaks and maintaining this brilliant cache series,
