In in Palmy staying with friends and today is an event RIGHT HERE with me being the guest so had to attend. A new cache has been released so caught a ride with Twignz, Etherlord and Yetinz to get it tagged. After we headed out this way for a hunt for this elusive one. Finally TaybeeNZ put us out of our missery by locating it. Left our calling card here and took away the rubbish. It turned out a mini CITO. Cheers.

21-Sep-24
Having only recently returned from a non-geocaching trip to the west island, today I was up early to get to Wanganui to visit family in the morning. With a little planning I was then able to time my departure from there to get me to a nearby event only half an hour later than the start time. Good enough. As the event was starting to wind down, a new geocache was published. We solved that, and after finding it carried on as a group to have a look for some more, including this one.Being a subject matter I am very familiar with, I had no trouble solving this puzzle some time ago. However, I had been unable to locate the cache on my previous two visits, so was very keen to be here with more eyes (and a previous finder). It still took a bit of searching to locate it, but eventually, there it was.---Thanks to the Seagnoid for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

21-Sep-24
Found after attending the Dragon's birthday event with Flowerydaze, Taybee and Taybee NZ and stopped for a bit of caching. The search party was well into the task without much success until TaybeeNZ turned up and found it in seconds......Thanks for the cache the Seagnoid.

21-Sep-24
After attending the Dragon's birthday event a few of us came to look for this one. We searched unsuccessfully for a while but when Taybee NZ arrived from parking the car he found it in seconds!!Thank you for the puzzle and for the cache the Seagnoid.

21-Sep-24
I had driven up to Palmy yesterday in order to spend time with friends, and also in order to attend a birthday celebration event. After the end of the event, a few of us went out to grab a few caches, including this one.Anecdotally, those of us here today were advised that the hide location has moved around (within cooee) a few times over the years. With that in mind, I asked where the Hint object was and was told it was no longer there so we all started searching systematically. [@Etherlord Clan](https://coord.info/PR5Y6HZ) found a film canister, and we sincerely hoped that it wasn't the cache as it was damaged and empty. In the end the cache was found by Taybee NZ, which was a great result. The double containering meant that all is fine here, and the log now has some new names on it SmileThanks for setting this one up.

10-Mar-24
Have had the coordinates for a while and made the funds this morning. Thanks.

26-Nov-23
I cant say I solved this but I think Ive made up for that by the amount of times Ive been here searching for it! A quick find today after armed with some extra hints. Very busy in the park today with sport going on in every direction. TFTC

20-Oct-23
**19,035**A bit of searching of previous logs assisted in the recovery of this cache. The co-ords were well out but thanks to Rubbishparty for the information in their log we soon narrowed the search area down and the cache was quickly in hand. Found under the cover of darkness. TFTC

10-Sep-23
Solving this brought back an old hobby, I had a lot of fun. 3rd visit to find it though! I finally nabbed it in an unexpected spot as the 5 of us searched (‘BCBIG’ party). In the words of CO: FP awarded despite the lousy hint. (Awaits incoming message from an aging friend who’s also had a few goes )

10-Sep-23
Logging all these finds as BCBIG (Barefoot Guru, Crystal Fairy, Bruzie, Info Ferret and GSEL).
Thanks for the cache. Had been here before and not found this one. The location of where we thought the cache would be had been cleared out, but we found it in another area at the hint object, but the hint object has changed over the last few years...

#13,510. Right place, right time. I unashamedly admit computers are a tool that answer questions, provide a mixture of good and bad info, and allow me to store data as well as enhance my hobbies. What goes on inside the box is of no interest to me. Provided the sods work, and having been through more than 8 of them since 1980s, they don 't always work much to your frustration when the lights go out.

Fortune is being in the company of geeks who thrive on the inside workings of these machines and actually know how to solve another dastardly Seagnoid puzzle. So we arrived at GZ and the site had been worked over since BFGs last visit. We fanned out searching objects that resembled the hint. The place that BFG found the cache is the poorest example of the hint object I have encountered in all my years of geocaching. I have botanical skills and that aint what the word means. Anyhow graciously accepted the group sign of BCBIG. Thanks for the puzzle (I think).

10-Sep-23
Heading up to New Plymouth with BFG for a weekend out of Wellington.

10 September 2023 13:38 Number 12978 for me. TFTC the Seagnoid for placing this cache for us to find. BFG spotted it!

14-Apr-23
No, no, yes. Couldn't find it 7 years ago, couldnt look today as too many workers there and then later, when they'd gone, sucess. Obviously there all along! Thanks the Seagnoid

14-Apr-23
A nice quick find by Ms_KR. It is great to get this one all sorted. Thanks for placing your cache.

Ms_KR and I cruised around today, picking up the odd cache on our journey around Palmerston North. The weather was good most of the day, and the traffic was OK too.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

10-Apr-23
Yay, broken the jinx at last!! Many thanks to the CO for sending me a few hints after my last DNF, that did the trick beautifully Smile. I solved this puzzle many years ago, I'm very familiar with the subject but have visited several times and had no luck. Today it was a quick find in a spot I'm sure I have tried before (although the cache could have been missing on one occasion) but obviously didn't check thoroughly enough when I was here a couple of weeks ago. There was a bit of water in the outer container but the inner one is dry and the log is in perfect condition. Good to get the smiley - signed log, TFTC!

26-Mar-23
About the fourth or fifth visit here over quite a number of years and still the jinx on this one persists. As it was Sunday there was nobody around and I was able to hop over the construction fence and have a good look amongst all the destruction there - no luck. However the most likely spot, across the path outside the fence, also gave no joy despite there being a fairly good hiding spot there and despite my attempts to almost dissect it. I'll be back again in a couple of weeks, I wonder if the CO or his local deputy could confirm whether it's still there? I'm starting to run out of ideas Sad ...

05-Mar-23
Both sides of the path and the xxx have a fence around.

05-Mar-23
Sorry BFG, your compass was pointing to the wrong side of the path Wink

29-Jan-23
Confirm cache still in place according to coordinates and hint.

07-Nov-22
Nice, thanks to RubbishParty. I thought it would still be here! Hide might be a bit further awy - try within 3m.

06-Nov-22
Confirmed still in place. Within 3m of the xxx

06-Nov-22
Sometime you just strike lucky. This weekend I bumped into the CO and after mentioning that this sad face was annoying me he gave very specific instructions on where the cache was hidden. Sounds like Etherlord wasn’t doing his maintenance job so hoped I might instead! Well I had visited GZ several times last year but with no success and probably could have visited a dozen more times without joy had I not meet the CO. The cache was well covered in natural camouflage and it was more by feel and chance that I got my hands on it. Lots of building work going on by the hint item but thankfully not on the side of the cache. Thanks Seagnoid for a puzzle that I actually solved by myself and didn’t have to get Mrs Rubbishparty to solve for me. Maybe you could be kind to your fellow cachers and at least tell them what side of the …… to search.

12-Sep-22
Maintenance required...
I'll give el EtherLord a prod!

08-Aug-22
Might need someone to have a look over?

25-Jul-22
Unfortunately a dnf for me too. I ended up finding a fishing wire that wasn't attached to anything, dunno if this was part of the cache or just a piece of rubbish.

14-Nov-21
Decided to travel down to Palmerston North for the Geocaching International Film Festival. Had the morning spare to collect some caches. Sadly no joy here despite getting further guidance from the last finder. All we found was an empty film canister with no lid.

30-Oct-20
As we stayed the night very close to here we went and searched but no luck

30-Oct-20
Found today after talking to Bruzie
Many thanks

22-Dec-19
A big mission to the Manawatu day today, picking up a variety of cache types for an internet-based challenge.

I DNFed this one back in February and thank you to the EtherLord clan for replacing promptly, even though this cache hasn't seen any action since then Smile. An interesting puzzle which took me back to my university days up the road - I don't think I've had to use that particular knowledge since then, up until solving this puzzle Big Grin. Looked in a few places at GZ (after waiting for a dog-walking muggle to finally move on) before eventually getting my hands on the cache. All good here. TFTC

12-Mar-19
Container replaced by EtherLord.
All good to go again

12-Feb-19
EtherLord visited yesterday and couldn't find it either.
Given that it's been 10months since it was last found, I'd say it's gone.
A replacement shall be forthcoming imminently!

09-Feb-19
After spending quite a bit of time looking at the limited number of hint objects that close to the [thing] and going beyond that, I couldn't find the cache. Sad

21-Apr-18
The plan that me and Scoria had for the day was to attend the CITO at James Palmer Park and also Another CITO & Souvenir, @ Milverton & Monarchs but before those CITO'S meet up with a group of other cachers to try and get the Secret Seven Society (Manawatu) mystery cache first.

I have been here twice before with scoria looking for this one each time it was at dusk when the light was fading and we were unable to find were the cache was hidden
This time with plenty of light and with the use of the hint we were able find that pesky cache that had eluded us in the past

21-Apr-18
Out with D6NZ today with 3 goals. A Mob cache and two CITOs. The last CITO was in Palmy so I fired up my app to see which Mysteries I had sitting solved and awaiting locating.

I did enjoy doing this logical puzzle but it has been well over two years since I solved this one plus one and a half since we put a DNF on the map.

This time it was not long before we had located the cache and managed to replace the frown with a smile.

Cheers.

Found while out and about with tmann421, just getting around to logging this now

Nice find while driving through the area today.
Pleased to find the container after searching a while back when it was missing.

Excellent puzzle and a great find! TFTC Smile

17-Jun-17
I am fully admitting and putting my hand up to say that I definitely needed help in solving this one. My brain isn't wired in the circuits required to solve this puzzle and it took some patient explaining by a fellow cacher to allow me to finally retrieve some coordinates.

After completing my Saturday morning activities, I needed to head into Palmerston North for a couple of tasks and decided to reward myself with a cache, being this one. Cache was quickly spotted at the gz. I signed the log and replaced it in the spot with better natural cover. Nice to finally turn this one into a smiley. TFTC

14-Apr-17
Yus!!! Looked at this and decided that the electrician should do this, but of course I couldn't resist attempting this. Painstakingly I traced out and got some coordinates. Down in Palmerston North for a few days so went to my gz but it didn't look right. Walked over to a spot that looked more in keeping but was disheartened as it was raining and could still be a needle in a haystack. Went to the Donnerstag meeting and was encouraged and given a small nudge with where I had gone wrong. By process of elimination I had likely coordinates where I had ended up yesterday. After that all was easy. A clear favorite here thanks The Seagnoid.

14-Apr-17
Crossed eyed..smoke and mirrors and finally solved...well I thought I had....a bit of fine tune adjustment and yes finally located the treasure...thanks Seagnoid for an interesting cache

12-Feb-17
once asking a friend on how to best work this out it was straight forward, it has taken longer to find the cache itself.
after my 4th visit I nailed it, found a couple of painted rocks, and a cache host that had made me bypass looking there, after getting a stick and being the big bad wolf removed his house and wouldnt ya know there was a cache Smile
soon had it signed and back where it belongs and then pretended to look at the trees canopy while some muggles came past, covered the cache again and back to the car. thanks for the cache

26-Jan-17
Decided a couple of months ago to have a crack at this puzzle, and was not have much luck moving in a forward direction at all.
So the JU half of sunju and I were talking about a a few puzzles and he gave me a big shove and a different idea (and easier) way to approach this one, and armed with this information i struggled through to gain a positive result.
This afternoon was the day to go and find this and sign the log.
Log signed and replaced as found thanks for the mystery cache

01-Jan-17
We are in Palmerston North for a few days as support crew for our daughter and son-in-law who are walking the Te Araroa Trail. After walking the Tongariro Crossing with them a few days ago we are now taking some caching time to find as many of our solved Manawatu puzzles as possible, along with just a few other cache types.
We thoroughly enjoyed solving this one manually, and felt very pleased with ourselves when we had the final coords. An apt Final location too. Today we were looking forward to making the find, so were disappointed when our initial search did not turn up the cache. Checked the cache page and noticed the up-dated hint. Just a slight change, but it made all the difference, and we were soon signing the log. Thanks, giving this puzzle a Favourite point.

01-Jan-17
The start of a new year and I have resolved to make more of an effort to actually find the caches for puzzles I have solved and to find those that I have searched for previously but have since been found by other cachers. This one fell into both categories although I think the container may have been missing when I looked for it previously. Today I put things right with a quick find.

31-Dec-16
Solved this puzzle some time ago and in the area over Christmas so decided to make the find.. No problems locating the cache today. Thanks for the cache

01-Nov-16
OMG FINALLY! I was thrilled to bits to see this had been replaced and so yesterday off I waltzed to grab it for my smiley for the day (hubby had this solved many weeks ago and we had looked many times before realising it was missing). One hour later I was still walking in circles scratching my head and contemplating if losing this much of my life was really worth it and did I look as lost and as lunatic as I felt. I had to give up to go help our son-in-law move furniture back into the house after some re-carpeting was done. Then I went home and had to focus on a Feilding puzzle to get my daily smiley. The CO kindly confirmed my request for the container type I was looking for and, either took pity on me or wanted me to hurry up and find it and go away, gave me a bit more of a nod in the right direction. I must say the find has proved harder than the puzzle. Didn't help with my co-ordinates jumping around under the trees. My persistence paid off with discovering a Seagnoid pathtag in the cache. Yay! Signed and rehid as found and left for the final, never again, glorious time! Fabulous puzzle Mr Seagnoid (according to hubby who solved it) and heinously tortuous hide (according to me who has been looking and looking - looking for something that is firstly not there and THEN looking for something that isn't what you think it is lol.) Jokes on me by the look of it. Smile

28-Oct-16
The tree that had the cache has been removed, but luckily there is another tree close by that works. Hint updated, puzzle does not need to be updated. All shine and ready to go again!

01-Oct-16
We had quite a good look here but didn't locate it.
Good puzzle though.

25-Sep-16
A hint from a fellow cacher as to the hide still did not help and we feel we have searched very thoroughly. Several trips now. Are we losing it? Frustrating as hell lol. May have to get a hint from the CO or a clarification in case it is actually missing.

13-Sep-16
Hubby sat and patiently worked through this puzzle a while back. Seeing he solved it I thought I better wait and let him do the find but it got the better of me as I passed by. (And I am terribly impatient which does not help!) So I stopped and, as it was not a nice day, there were not really any muggles around. Looked and looked and looked with no joy. I will have to get him to come and look as I obviously need a second set of eyes on this one.

10-Sep-16
Out with DDT-T42-24T solving a few multistage caches and gave this one a crack. I've had the final coordinates for a while but just could not see it. DDT reckons it was because we were losing the light, I'm not so sure.

15-Aug-16
Another puzzle solved and found. Thanks for the cache.

14-Aug-16
My first puzzle! Took me a while to figure out the coordinates but once I plugged them in and saw the location on the map I knew immediately where to go. It's all in the name. Great puzzle. T4TC.

23-Jul-16
No problems in solving this one having being well versed in Boolean, and even built such circuits myself in the past, kudo's to the CO for the elegance of the design. A fairly busy spot here today but a quick and stealthy find.

Yay, finally found it after failed previous visits. Quick find this time. TFTC Smile

TFTC, very clever!

10-Oct-15
Solved the puzzle ages ago but can't for the life of me find the cache anywhere, coordinates take me to a logical spot though!

19-Sep-15
This puzzle looked like it belonged in my "too hard" pile but I plucked up the courage to read the description. Despite it being a subject that I have no previous knowledge about, the well worded text seemed to make sense to me so I decided to give it a go. I didn't manage to solve the puzzle perfectly (probably a case of me repeatedly making the same mistake) but I figured out what the "difficult" digit was most likely to be.

I called by this afternoon and found myself within a certain distance of a certain object. That pleased me as it was highly unlikely I had come up with the wrong coordinates. Also in my favour was one of my own caches being of the Casper variety so I knew what I was looking for. The previous finder referred to the obvious location which suggested to me that it was going to be even easier to find than had it been an obvious location. I reckon I have been around long enough to spot an obvious location.

However, I spent about ten minutes searching in the rain but came up empty handed. Now that I have read earlier logs, I can see others have had to make more than one visit to achieve success. I will give this one some more thought before returning.

15-Jun-15
#702 Yay, a puzzle i can actually solve. Did this one manually with pen and paper (well Microsoft paint and a spray can) and got progressively easier the further into the puzzle i got, once i figured out what was going on. Cache in the obviously location at GZ, dont know why I didnt look there first. Thanks for a completely random puzzle cache.

Well finally found this one!! Lets say, I had got myself a terrible dose of tunnel vision. And I should have stood back the rethink things again. Quite straight forward when I finally did!!!!! thank you for the cache

this hurts just reading it.... Smile I didnt see this puzzle hidden other some others

This is the first time I have found a puzzle cache without a gps, without a pen and without solving the puzzle. In fact it wasn't even me who found it.........it was the CO!

After hosting our Events today it was fantastic to spend some time with the CO and the Etherlord Clan and as Mrs AC and EC looked after the little ones us lads took off to do a maintenance run for this cache.

I signed the log (with Etherlord's pen) but not wanting to log a find until I solved the puzzle I sat down today to tackle it. The puzzle looked daunting but with experience in logic gates I was soon making short (and dare I say fun) work of it and soon I had some plausible co ords. A check with the CO confirmed I had it solved.

Thanks for a surprisingly fun puzzle Seagnoid.

TFTP +FP Smile

We've pushed this one to one side for too long now, so decided it was time to knock it off.
A surprisingly easy find at GZ. No muggles within sight on a cold & wet afternoon.
Left a pet rock - a caterpillar. TFTC

Getting desperate for another local cache to find for this day in August - so passed this puzzle over to Mr E. He beavered away at it and found it to be interesting, and learned more about computer logic in the process. Off on my bike with his coordinates for a straight forward find in an appropriate place. Thanks Seagnoid, a favourite for this ingenious and testing puzzle. Phew, another August smiley!

Fired up the circuit simulator under the watchful eye of junior cacher 2 and after fixing a couple of crossed wires I soon had the coordinates. Google Earth gave a target location and a quick find when up that end of town. Enjoyed the puzzle - TFTC.

Yay Smile there is certainly a great sense of satisfaction when finding a puzzle cache. Knowing you solve the puzzle correctly is a gr8 feeling Smile enjoyed the logic gates, took me back to my uni days. TFTC was fun.

08-Dec-12
This took a bit of concentration and persistence to nail the answer. I'm glad we can usually leave it to the computer to sort the logic out behind the scenes. The cache itself was a nice easy find.

Am I the only cacher to solve this puzzle manually?
Having said that, The Puzzlenoid had given me a Release Candidate version of the circuit diagram to test it...

I had the coordinates about three weeks ago (before the Incremental Event) but it took me three visits to find the blighter! All the more embarrassing considering I gave the container to him and therefore knew what to look for Surprised
The first two visits had me at 0m at the wrong cvyyre with my search times limited by Muggle activity.
After bouncing some comments off the CO, it was a quick find today after work (and now I see that the hint has been updated...)
T4TC. A FP coming your way for the most enjoyable puzzle

I'm another who got a computer to do my dirty work although I used my Excel skills to do the work. Initially it didn't work at all until I realised I was treating C completely backwards and bingo good to go. Cache was a quick find in an ideal spot - TFTC and a favourite point for the clever and educational puzzle design and for inadvertently showing me another cool way to use Excel...

17-Nov-12
Like markhnz I initially set out to solve the puzzle with pen and paper, but soon decided I'd rather have a computer do the algebra. It didn't take long to write an octave script to do the calculations, and after I'd fixed a few of my plot commands (whoops, those diagonal lines can't be right!) gnuplot gave me a nice six digit display. The cache was easily found on the way back from an errand, and after going three What a Borge of a cache. Thanks for the cache and fun lesson.

15-Nov-12
Puzzle was straightforward to solve, the problem lay in putting the info together with the correct given co-ords! Red Face When we got that sorted we headed off to the cache site where the gps was a bit all over the place. Nevertheless, we kept focused and soon had success. The hiding spot was most appropriate, all comes together very well. TFTC

Was in Palmerston North for work for the day and decided that since I was in the area I might as well go and check out a cache or two between appointments.

After finding GC3XV57 - Mangone Stream -1 (Manawatu), I decided it was time to go to my next appointment for the day, well next couple, and once done it was time to start making my way home, well not quite.

I decided that since I was in the area, I might as well go and get this final puzzle cache for the day, having solved it a while back, I had it placed in my solved database to be picked up when I got the chance.

Managed to find a safe parking spot close to GZ, from there it was a very easy walk to the GZ and once I finally got to GZ, I read the hint, and I decided that I should trust the GPSr and I soon managed to spot something and upon a closer look I soon realised that it was the cache

I think it is time to get home and make sure that I have packed my bags as I am off to the South Island again tomorrow afternoon to catch up with Mrs Yeetrees for a family reunion........

I started out solving this one with a pen and paper, but then I decided it would be much faster to write some code to solve it. Since I was on my Mac I had to try and remember how to use XCode and objective C, which I haven't used for a quite a long time. But I soon had the debugger printing out the solution.
Fun puzzle and a nice hiding spot.
Thanks.

Good challenge of a puzzle, took a fair bit of thinking and concentration to work out but nice and logical once you understand what the mess of lines means.
