Back in Down Under for the next edition of SuCos Great Australian Roadtrip!
Heading from Sydney to Brisbane in a HippieCamper, what a great fun...
We spent today around Port Stephens, hiking some walks and finding some caches, great day out in the nature.
This trails here are pretty tough, but with some good shoes easy to get through.
We found the container on the ground and wet, but anyhow: TFTC

24-Oct-18
As other cachers have mentioned - contents are saturated, wasn't able to sign log but took a photo as evidence of our find.

10-Oct-18

This one took some finding. Finally we discovered that the host tree had fallen over. The container was on the ground and its content sodden.

This geocacher reported that the container is damaged.

This ended up being our only DNF today. Our etrex took us into a very scrubby area. We probably should have ignored it and searched a bit further away. TFTH

Reperio at 1040.

We happened to find ourselves in Nelson’s Bay for a few caches, and so with wanting to take the kids for a bush walk, we decided to visit these few caches along here. There obviously isn’t a lot of foot traffic here as the tracks a quite narrow, and having picked up a tick everytime I’ve been here, I expected the same today. Once at GZ, the cache was spotted immediately, however the cache contents are absolutely soaked and log book not able to be signed without ruining it.

Gratias raddog2.

02-May-18
Found today, this whole series needs maintenance, lots logs are wet and containers broken. Signed log and replaced. Thanks to raddog2.

02-May-18
TFTC,
1 of 6 for today. The container was ok, log was wet.
We are spending a few night's in the area and wanted to complete this series.
While it was a good walk, it seriously requires some maintenance. However speaking to our friends we have learnt that the reserve has been sold to a developer by the State Government and has been surveyed for subdervision.
The interpretative signage was very interesting but the tracks are almost impossibly to find at times and we probably completed it the wrong way around.
Visited trackables.

Following the hint, I was getting nowhere and was about to give up when I glanced at the ground at my feet and spotted the cache lying there. I hooked it up as high as I could given the restraints. Hopefully it will stay dry.

Thanks raddog2.

The bird song was particularly loud here. Nice walk for this morning . Thanks for the series. Ill leave the last one for next time as im nearly late for a lunch date before i head back to blue mtns .

Good find. Love the way it was placed.

09-Sep-17
After spending the last few days walking, hiking and riding thru the bush in search of the elusive geocache, we decided today to stick to caches we could either drive to, or which only involved a short walk. We'll just have to see how long that lasts for!
The plan fell apart when we got to this reserve. The paths are poorly maintained which resulted in lots of scratches on our way to find the caches.
A nice hide that should resist any rain or moisture.

Find #1380
Continuing our Port Stephens efforts today, we managed 12 caches around Salamander Bay and Corlette, without a DNF (just!). Beautiful sunny autumn weather, but still the mosquitoes were fierce in spots!
We started with the sandy track caches, grabbing the full collection. Quite a nice area to walk through, although the tracks are getting rather overgrown in spots. This series of caches could all do with some (extensive) maintenance.
I think we took the bad track here, it was OK, but not as good as the way out (more northerly track)... Cache was found quickly, I suspect the current placement is not how it was initially hidden? TFTC raddog2

Found with BillHill531 while out here buying a used car. We found a nice variety of caches today, mostly nice bush walks or wonderful views. I was mostly trying to clear my fifty kilometer radius from home. I ended up finding nineteen of the twenty one I wanted to find. And only one DNF.
Last find with BillHill as he had an appointment. We made this way harder then it needed to be, but at least it had a different perspective, which made spotting the cache easy when we got back to it. Left a TB. Fav of/for the series.
Thanks for the great walks in this area and caches!

12-Oct-16
TOMBI! got me to come up to Soldiers Point, to buy a car but while we were there we had to get some in his 50 km radius to clear up. Found about 17 caches for the day. Found after a while, as the GPS made us go bush bashing, almost gave and on the way back spotted it. TFTC

Headed back to the Nelson Bay area, to pick up a few more caches.
We visited lots of lovely beaches & bushland, where we found a good variety of hides.
Many thanks for placing this cache, raddog2, for us and others to find.

A quick stroll though the bush had me at GZ and the find was made in no time. The only issue I had was having to get over or around the many fallen trees from the storm recently, but this just added to the experience.

24/01/14. 5:51 PM. Cache #1270. Last of 9 caches today. After clearing out all the caches from Soldiers Point & Taylors Beach, it was time to head back to where we're staying (Shoal Bay). Time for a couple more on the way though, so I targeted a pair of caches in the Mambo Wetlands Reserve near Salamander Bay. I'd already found the older caches in the reserve on a previous visit in 2012; these two were published not long after that holiday.

I was already on foot, having found Behind the scenes; now I needed to work out how to get to this one. I ended up jogging NW, then NE, then east to get here, with the track a bit overgrown in places. Once I'd spied the cache I had to work out how to get to it, but that wasn't very hard. All the same, a very cool set up you have here, quite unique and so worthy of a fave point. TFTC }:)

# 4414. Robmc and I headed out today with Pprass who had arrived from the north last night.

The mosquitoes are not repelled by anything in this place. They were keen to try all blood. Don't get the connection between the cache name and the cache. A quick find by Peter here and all names added. TFTC

Found at 11:57 AM GAFF1 in the company of Robmc and BB#. We finally got to this one Big Grin It was a nice hide too! now for the walk out of here and try and leave the mozzies behind - it didn't work btw Sad
Thanks raddog2.

Accompanied Pprass on their "Clean out Port Stephens....Again!" campaign. Bettyboo and I were along for the ride. A nice tour of the southern section of the Port, on a lovely sunny day.
This method of hiding will certainly keep it out of the swamp! Very cute. Spotted by Peter just as BB was walking past looking at her GPSr.
Thanks, Robmc.

14-Jul-13
Our 6862nd overall find.

This one took a long time to locate but once we spotted it, we were surprised it took so long to spot. The disappointing thing was the nails in the tree. Not so cool....

Thanks raddog2 for the find.

14-Jul-13
As per my log the cache has two nails in the tree that are not allowed under the geocaching guidelines. http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx?expand=1#propertydamage
Geocache placements do not damage, deface or destroy public or private property.

Caches are placed so that the surrounding environment, whether natural or human-made, is safe from intentional or unintentional harm. Property must not be damaged or altered to provide a hiding place, clue, or means of logging a find.
There are branches that can be used for this cache hide and there is no need for the nails. I tried to remove the nails but could not. Can you please remove them?
