Logs
Camped up at the NZMCA park just along the road from here. All evening to wander around caching. Snagged and tagged this on my way past. Cheers.Day 4 - Waimate - Dunedin with a few Geo stops along the way. And an event to end the evening.Zara, Toby and I are on an adventure, heading to the Dunedin Mega with some extra days along the way. Caught up with TaybeeNZ on 22 Oct for a day caching around Christchurch. Then made my way down to Waimati for the night. Arrived in Dunedin Thursday afternoon. Beautiful day Friday to cache around Port Chalmers. Mega Day was cold, wet and miserable and Sunday not much better. Sophia arrived on Sunday for a few days. Teamed up with TaybeeNZ for next three days touring the Catlains Monday, Stewart Island Tuesday and Milford Wednesday, then started making my way home, arriving Friday Morning.
The original logbook is full and many many small pieces of paper have been added to the baggie. Like confetti. Needs a new logbook.
I had just set up camp in Dunedin ready to attend the Mega Event this coming weekend so I looked around to set what caches I could find nearby. If I had bought a powerful torch I am sure that I would have found it quicker. The cache could do with a bit of attention. As the original log is full, many many small bits of paper have been added. Replacement with a fresh good sized logbook would be an improvement.
Finally got this one. Very cozy geocache, logbook a bit scattered but my names on there somewhere. I like this elephant
Quick easy find after heading to GZ. TFTC! Log super damp so have photo proof for CO in case.
Nice quick find at GZ. Added some extra log paper to the cache for future finders. TFTC
Wandered up the path and then the GPS lead me part way back to the exact right tree. Quick find and made note of the mega hint.
A quick find on the way to the supermarket this morning. A lovely day and of yo bike some of the harbour ride. The cache was found in good condition. TFTH

The big mission of today day was to break my record of most finds in 1 day. I started in the morning from Larnach Castle, after spending the night there. Unfortunately, the weather was really bad for part of the day but I persisted nonetheless, going on a geocaching hunt through the wind and rain, on my bike! After going down Highcliff Road into the city, I spent a lot of time in the city centre, ticking off all adventure labs there. Then through the botanical gardens and onto the steepest street in the world, which I managed to ride all the way up in 3 'stints' . To finish off I grabbed some more tradies at the waterfront and just before midnight I called it a night. I'm not sure if I broke the record yet, since I'm only logging all finds at the moment .Btw, sorry to all CO's, I did not manage to actually sign all logs, since my fingers were sometimes so cold, I had no strength to open some tight containers. Rest assured, I actually found all containers and enjoyed the full day hunt a lot! Also sorry for this generic log for all caches, making it a little bit easier for myself, since I found so many. All finds were relatively easy, mostly because of the hints, thanks for that. All DNF's were either taking too much time so I had to move on, or were very probably missing. Many thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining! FP's rewarded for the ones I especially enjoyed!
Had given up but gave one more look and hey!!! Running out of space in log...
Closer to the road that thought. Fun to hunt. Never knew this track existed. The Sabres
Without knowing what we were looking for or having any hint we weren't sure where to start looking but there was only a few places we thought it could be so we had a look around and it didn't take us long to spot. TFTC
[Found the manky logbook in pieces swimming in cache bags. Chucked the rubbish and popped in temp ritr logslip. No one is coming back to fix this one. Some dirt got knocked out of the lid and popped out seal for a wipe down. Funny eh, there's more water in the logbook bag than there is in cache. Returned cache to the stick pile]. Dumbo clue still in lid.
As mentioned in previous logs log book waaay to wet to sign CO attention needed nice wee spot though TFTC
Found a few metres away from the point on the map on an absolute Dunner stunner. Logbook too wet to write in - needs attention. Tftc

Excursion with downsouthinv to the big smoke and beyond. Thanks for bringing us here.
This was a remarkably quick find here, BUT I put it down to having read all of the logs before I started, and when I got to where GZ might be I used instinct and checked where I would hide something. Found the cache in the first place I looked.
Took us a bit, but then we looked at the activity to figure out it was on the other side. Tftc fridges and goodgeo334
Visiting from Wellington for a son's graduation. Out for an evening caching walk. Challenging looking for this in the evening and not sure we were in the right spot. Previous logs were a bit of a help but still needed a second hunt with the phone torch to spot the cache. TFTC

Wrong side of the track to start with but found eventually tftc

Decided to do a hike today. Started off in Leith valley, headed up to Flagstaff then Swampi Transmitter and finally Jubilee hut in the Silver peaks. All up took us 8 hours. Had time to collect 7 caches but sadly had to walk pass many because of time. This was the first cache found while we waited for the bus to take us to the start of Pineapple track. Initially followed the geotrail but then crossed the path to find the cache. Thanks for the smiley.
Yes co-ordinates were about 10m off, so while I was searching around what I thought was a geotrail, geohubby was looking on the other side of the track and came up trumps. "Is this what you're looking for?" he asked with a big smile . Nice spot for the cache, all nice and dry. Found a random space to sign in the logbook and returned cache just as we found it. Another path I had no idea existed. Many thanks for bringing us here.
Felt the need to avenge myself after being defeated by the cache up the road. Found this one without too much trouble. Tftc
Log book is pretty full and could do with replacing. Best done by CO rather than a benevolent stranger to maintain the menagerie challenge
Stopped here and poked around for awhile in all the wrong places. About to move on and thought why not try the other side of the track and yah there was a nice dry cache.
Thanks for placing and maintaining.
Thanks for placing and maintaining.
Quicker find than expected as was in front of where it looks like it should be. Thanks.
Had my eye on the Mega menagerie caches for an opportune visit to Dunnas but not really followed the trials and tribulations of all the archived caches that required changing the caches for the final. A walk down from Maori hill seen a noice path traversed whilst picking up an abandoned 2Lt for an archived cache smilie, there have been quite a few. Impressed more by the large rock cliffs of Dunnas showing it's bones under the canopy of the town belt, how the Edinburgh planners hadn't envisioned soo many steep hills when they plotted the Dunnas streets meant quite a few pedestrian accesses were laid in lieu of roads ending in dead ends and sheer drops ha ha. The cache was an easy find not hidden behind the fortress. The micro mega logbook was dry and bagged but while getting quite full with peeps using both book ends making pages loose and tatty, some room was found at the back for signing. Some swag got chucked in and code animal recorded although noobs had added spoilers previously. Cache returned more hidden once a larger piece was found further away. After a visit to Dunedin Hospital thought I would get my first cache in Dunedin tftc
