I had solved this on a previous drive by, and today with no cars it was a quick find... nice use of the object. Thanks for the placement! TFTC Kiwi Nomad, the cache was found in good order Very Happy. Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. Find #4988

On a road trip together with -moge-; across New Zealand; from Cape Reinga to Stewart Island; up, down, right, left ... So much to see, so much to experience. So many great, and sometimes old, cans! But I can hardly keep up with the logging. Far too exhausted from all the experiences. I am sorry that it will now be a standardized log for some founds.

Hello Kiwi Nomad,Another day, another Cache.Together with Dr Donna travelling through New Zealand. We arrived at Auckland Airport and made our way up north. After visiting Cape Reinga we went on our way South to reach Stewart Island with stops in many different Citys all over the country. Of course we have an open eye for nice Caches but take what we can get. Today we came across your Cache "Name that Peak (Canterbury)" and signed the logbook with our names or took pictures for Virtuals and Earthcaches. Its great how many nice spots we are able to discover through our journey and how many of them we only See because of Geocaching! Thanks for bringing us to this place and takeing care for the geocache. Liebe Gre und vielen Dank fr die Hege und Pflege deines Multi-cache! -moge-#############Der Cache "Name that Peak (Canterbury)" von "Kiwi Nomad" war fr mich Cache 6671. A plan was hatched quite a while ago when the Dunedin Mega was announced to come over to the South Island again.I have only been to New Zealand twice before and I loved the South Island. So a chance to come back for a Mega was a no brainer for me.Everything was booked and I flew in on Saturday 2 weeks ago after a bit of a delay.Hopefully the weather improves today as Im missing the sunshine that I had earlier on this trip.So Day 15 of my Mega NZ starts and Im heading back to Christchurch where this trip began. An interesting way to highlight the peaks of the area and Im going to miss this scenery when I fly out.Another Multi to ad to the list. Thanks Kiwi Nomad TFTMC.

24-Oct-24
I collected the info some time ago but did not collect due to a person sleeping in a car near GZ. Took the opportunity to collect it on my way past today. TFTC

24-Oct-24
The magnificent mountains ahead of us are snow capped and look absolutely magical. Found during the Dunedin Mega Tour by Tiz13 and Snips and CoThanks kiwi Nomad

24-Oct-24
We are not tiring of the mountain views ...the wind today was another story , this cache found with no issues.

23-Oct-24
Heading south on my Mega road trip.Ive been collecting Multis on this trip so this seemed like a good place to stop.I think Ive been here before when the rest of the info was here. Never realised you could see Mt Cook from here. Amazing. I think I spotted it, as a white peak in the distance just to the right of Mt Peel.TFTC

22-Oct-24
We are wanting to find a multi a day this month for a challenge in Christchurch and so this was a good place to stop to do that as we as give our legs a bit of a walk. The information was gathered, although we didnt have a clear view of the mountains ??. It didnt take us long to find the cache, even with muggles and their dogs nearby.TFTC Kiwi Nomad. And so 7 days after returning home from a five month trip to the UK and Europe, I am off on another trip. This time its within New Zealand as Itchyfeet2020 and I are on our mega road trip to Dunedin. We are focussing on particular caches for various challenges, as well as having a great lot of fun and seeing the scenery in our wonderful land. -LET US HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!!On May 3rd, 2025, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in Rotorua, New Zealand with a special Block Party event. NZ_B and I are on a road trip to the Geo Toroa Mega. I'm also hoping to get a multi everyday, so it is now titled the "Mega Multi Road Trip". Today is Day 4 from Christchurch to Timaru. This cache was one on our journey and our multi for the day. It's a bit too overcast to see the far away peaks today, but we could see the ones we needed. Co-ords quickly calculated and a short walk to the find. Thank you Kiwi Nomad. It's nice to have a trip where alongside targeted caches we also take time to find one's on a whim or ones that take a bit longer. We have all day and the caches are calling...

25-Sep-24
Continuing south today, and pulled in here to stretch the legs. Quickly figured out the final, and wandered over before making a quick find, TFTC

23-Jul-24
On our way home and decided to take a break and stretch the legs. Love looking st the hill and remembering my Te Araroa adventure from cape reinga to bluff. My most memorable part of the trail was in the hills of Canterbury. So we sorted out the info and soon had the cache log in hand. Competed the paperwork and now back on the road south .Thankd for the fun Getting out and about in to the out doors is my happy place so any excuse to go caching. As if I need an excuse aahhh nop I will go rain hail or snow so let's goooo and have as much fun and adventures as possible tomorrow may never come and we never know what tomorrow may hold for us all just do it Life is short. Live life one foot step at a time.Never say" I'm gonna "- Just do it!! Tomorrow may never come just grab Life by the horns Thanks for the hide tftc

23-Jul-24
With dsi, and always time to stop and work out multi. No problems crunching the numbers, and soon got to the gz.Tftm

01-Jun-24
When I first arrived at GZ I was dismayed to see the plaque was missing. However soon realised the necessary information was there just where it should be. A great way to extract the numbers needed so a quick find. A favourite point coming your way TFTC KiwiNomad

17-Apr-24
Found after working out the peaks details - interesting! Then to the final - all good here now - log dry! TFTC

06-Apr-24
Great lunch stop. Easy parking. I'mgetting the hang of these now. Container very wet, log damp so dried as much as I could, new bags on log & container, logged and replaced where found. Great view from here. Thanks for placing

27-Mar-24
As is usual for me I stuffed up the instructions. During a cup of tea I reread the cache page and spotted the error in my ways. The log book was signed a few moments later. The log book is damp but totally useable. Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

18-Jul-23
The information plaque seems to be missing and as people have found the cache recently I assume that this has happened in only the last week or two

18-Jul-23
I managed to find it without the coordinates. I searched many likely spots before finding the correct spot. Logbook dampish but had no problems signing it

02-Jun-23
Nice easy multi. Quick find. Tftmc

28-May-23
Quickly worked out the final location and the a quick locate of the cache tipped the water put and signed the still dry log book

22-Jan-23
Some grounds maintenance has been going on but container is safe and sound

17-Nov-22
I had parked up the snail shell in Ashburton and decided to go for a wee trip down to Rakaia and places nearer the sea from there.

I got all the required info for the final's coords and then went over and signed the log.

Cheers for the cache.

15-Oct-22
We solved this while passing a couple of days ago but unfortunately the mountains were under cloud, and a vehicle was parked close to GZ so we couldn’t make the find then. We were travelling between Christchurch and Ashburton again today, and this time the coast was clear and we were able to make a quick find. We also got a (slightly) better view of the peaks. The cache was wet inside so we dried it out as best we could while stopped here for our lunch break. Thanks for the multi Kiwi Nomad.

09-Sep-22
A quick find. Duck distrubed . Log wet. thanks

02-Aug-22
Always wanted to stop here and now I have interesting to see all the mountains in place thanks

29-May-22
What an interesting place to stop as I headed south today. Enjoyed spotting the mountains in the distance. There were a few muggles around but they didn't seem worried about what I was doing so signed log and rehid.
thanks for the interesting multi Kiwi Nomad. FP from me

02-Jan-22
Found after one false start. Not too much visibility today but could just see a flash of what we think is Mt Cook TFTC

31-Oct-21
A nice straightforward multi and the cache was a quick find. TFTC.

17-Oct-21
Like many others, the postponed Mega and the restrictions in the North Island, I am onto Plan C for my 2 weeks off work. I have decided to travel around Canterbury and Malborough; resting, reading and of course geocaching.

I had stopped for this before but answered a paf call for one of the new geotour multis, so after I drove off I realised I was so distracted I didn't get this one. I corrected that this time.

07-Aug-21
A hassle-free multi that was quickly solved and logged. Unfortunately, the view wasn't that clear today, although Mt Cook could be seen; TFTC

24-Feb-21
A fun little multi, thanks. Obviously a popular overnighting spot!!

08-Jan-21
Solved the puzzle and got the co-ordinates. Took a while to find the container with the logbook, last signed in October 2019 so under a fair bit of leaf litter. TFTC

22-Dec-20
After taking a while to work out how to use the coordinates, we finally found the hiding spot which was very cool but the signing in sheet was missing we will put a new one in the morning.

25-Oct-19
Heading up to CHCH with KJR for a make shift mega as there wasn't one planned in the south island this year. Stayed in Temuka for the night with some friends and pasted this one the next morning on our way up to CHCH. Nice and easy find TFTC

25-Oct-19
Heading to Christchurch with Gadget169 to meet up with some Dunedin/Invercargill cachers for a long weekend geocaching adventure. Stopped here along the way and didn't take long to get the numbers required and then a nice easy find TFTC

10-Jul-19
Passed by here today after a fun visit to the Ashburton Aviation Museum with family members.

30-Apr-19
Needed a re count, and to wait for van driver muggle to finish his lunch.

08-Apr-19
I (roughly) sorted out the co-ords for this a while ago; on a previous attempt I hadn't looked at the L->R of the mountains correctly (duh!) and the soliution had me a disrance away and probably in a paddock.
Anyway, today was the day and I was really pleased to find the cache quickly. Thanks for this Mult, Kiwi Nomad.

27-Mar-19
Today my geocaching mission was to plug the last remaining 'minute' gaps in order to complete the S43 challenge. So I set off early in the morning, heading South from Christchurch to places where I obviously hadn't cached before. Stopped here and got the numbers to find the cache. That took a lot longer than it should have done. GPS seemed to take me further than I really needed to go. Broadened my search to an obvious spot and there was the cache. TFTC, Biggles.

15-Feb-19
Clouds and an irrigation sprinkler blocked the peaks themselves, but the clever profile had the answers. On the way from Mt Cook to Christchurch today. Find #6100 for us. TFTC

15-Jan-19
I was last here almost a year ago, but in the dark. Today I was travelling back to Chch in daylight and made short work of this one. I tipped out the small amount of water in the container and sealed the bag properly. The log is slightly damp, but not too bad.

I was due to start work at 1pm (in Chch) but I figured I had time for a few caches on the way. In the end I found four, did the homework then DNFd a multi, and found the info for a mystery cache (field puzzle) although it was illegible.
I arrived at work with four minutes to spare!

TFTC Kiwi Nomad Cool
Find # 3728

24-Oct-18
Great spot for a lunch break. I have been waiting for a reason to stop all year and today had time to stop. Solved before lunch, but coords didnt look right. Tried again after lunch and sure enough one number was wrong. Easy find once i got it right. Beware the wire sticking out of the ground a few paces before GZ, it could do some damage.

20-Jul-18
Awesome spot to stop and check out the peaks. Would never have know otherwise!

16-Jul-18
Probably the quickest and easiest multi cache I've ever done. Couldn't see many of the peaks today, too much cloud. TFTC

16-Jul-18
TFTC found with Blood Red Owl

12-Jul-18
Lots of snow on the peaks today. Thanks for making me stop here. In 62 years it's the first time I have! #2981

08-Jul-18
First we got one of the numbers wrong, than a muggle with his kid turned up, than the mother turned up to collect the child. Well, that gave us time to correct the number and finally got our hand on the cache after everyone left. Although we could not see any of the peaks we enjoyed the cache, TFTC

14-May-18
Just passing through from the north island
Great spot
Many thanks

02-Apr-18
Great fun, TFTH

26-Feb-18
There was a freedom camper in the car park, and it was dark, and I was in a hurry. Those are my excuses and I'm sticking to them! No joy for me this time, I'll try again in daylight.

03-Jan-18
Found on a nice drive in the area. It helps when you do the maths right

24-Nov-17
Got the coordinates right first time but should have trusted myself... made hard work of finding the final. Fading evening light but that didn't matter... it's been overcast all day not a chance of seeing the mountains... GLB1721 TFTC (4027)

23-Oct-17
Nearly home from the Oamaru goefest by now, saw this and decided to pop in and have a look. Quite a grand set up for the bronze of the peaks and we quickly worked out the answers for where the cache would be. Tried to see the peaks but no luck with the cloudNot too far to go and a little bit of traffic in evidence from other geocachers walking through the long grass. Found as expected and signed the log. Log is wet but was able to scratch our name in there. Thanks for the cache.

Found with Geo Jessie, the log book was very wet, so put in a couple of sheets of waterproof paper as a temporary log. TFTC.

16-Oct-17
Had no idea this existed! Miserable grey day today, so no views, but abandoned the search on the way TO Ashvagus, a muggle was dozing in his car and waking up at random intervals. Got the smilie on the way BACK from Ash B' Everything is soaking wet, found contents in a puddle of water. CO will need to bag a fresh log within. Managed to sign - - just. TFTC and the place. Cool

16-Sep-17
Found with StreetWalker en route to Ashburton on a lovely spring day.
I'm sure I've found a cache in this location before but I didn't realise that this "model" of the peaks was here. What a great idea for a multi. Pity that the peaks were a bit obscured by cloud at the time - as later in the day the cloud had disappeared and we had fabulous views of the mountains against the blue sky.
Unable to sign the log book as it was quite wet.
Thanks for bringing me back here and TFTC.

16-Sep-17
#14466. Nice idea for a multi. We had some views of the mountains, but there was some cloud around them. We were disappointed to see that GZ was very close to a parked car. In the end we decided to go for it, and I took up a blocking position between Troodles and the parked car, and she went in to do the paperwork. TFTC.

22-Apr-17
A quick find on the way to kiwimoose place for tea. Thanks.

15-Apr-17
Came out to ashburton today to ride the river trail and find a few caches. Stopped here on the way in and gathered the required info. Two sets of camper muggles stopped for a snack precluded a look for the final......Heading for home I swung in and had the place to myself for a quick find and sign. Nice wee multi. Cheers!

07-Mar-17
Quick puzzle and easy find on the way to Chch. TFTC

07-Mar-17
Greetings from Seattle! This is a great mountain display; shame the clouds are hiding them right now. Thanks!

30-Jan-17
Lovely little cache with interesting information. Had to beware of nearby muggles in a camper van. Not easy when cache not in 1st or 2nd place I looked.

02-Dec-16
Heading to Chch for the weekend. Needed a break and pulled in here. Saw there was a quick multi. Quick find and a great way to have a stretch. TFTC

14-Aug-16
Great hide love the view from here

17-Jul-16
Had this one on the books for ages and finally picked it up.
TFTC

05-Jul-16
Couldn't see a single one today due to the very low cloud but I've admired them many times in the past in all seasons. I particularly liked the silhouette of the peaks. TFTC #8799

20-May-16
Been passed here heaps, never stopped till today . Bit cold and a bit smelly but thanks for the cache

08-Feb-16
Finally remembered to stop here and complete this multi - pity about the area being a dump from those that stop in the area. A couple of campervans turned up as we were heading out so hope they take their rubbish with them. (Another possible CITO area).

16-Jan-16
What an awesome idea- love the peaks but the clouds were in the way today. Quick calculation then walk to find the cache. Thank u a lovely little stop on our way south

on an end of year to mission to crack #1600 , only had 4 to go so up to ash vegas for a couple of new ones and hopefully the magic number before 2016.

had to go a bit further than I was expecting having had a DNF on a previous cache , was able to work out numbers pretty quickly but the results had me further away than expected so double , triple check went for a wander and still no luck . sat down for another luck and the light came on . one wrong number and it wasn't even one I had to work out . so that made a big difference and didn't take long to find and sign . tftc

03-Dec-15
DNFed this last year, and I think I saw the error of our ways this time. Must have been blinded by the wind last time! Pretty windy again today, but soon had the cache in hand. Thanks for the stop!

16-Nov-15
Was going up to the airport to pick the mother in law up, Mrs abxt350 kindly stopped off for me to get this one. Cheers ☺

Great to see these pieces of information being used. I have lived in the area for nearly 10 years and if it wasn't for this cache I would have never known this was here. Tftc

26-Jul-15
I have to admit that last time through I stopped next to the model, but it was so miserable outside that I decided against getting out of the car to get the clues and walk(!) to the cache... Razz Much nicer day today, even though it started getting chilly, but I had some unfinished business to sort! Ordering the peaks would have been slightly easier with a ruler, but I got there eventually... I will need to schedule another stop here to actually see which peak is which in real life (and light) Thanks for a fun multi!!!

This cache was one of 350 found on a short trip back to New Zealand, which was principally organised so that I could attend my Great Grandmother's 100th birthday.
I have a great time and enjoyed a great variety of caches, most of which were new (ie published in the past couple of years ).
Thanks for all the great caches. Cool

15-May-15
This cache was one of approx. 350 found on a 5 day road trip with Moneydork who was on a brief visit to New Zealand.
We enjoyed a variety of caches in an area that stretched between Christurch Dunedin and Pukaki.
MD did the calculation and I found this cache on a pile of excavated soil. MD rehid in a safe place within 2m and we advised the CO in person when passing through Ashburton.
Thanks to the many people who have hidden and maintained the caches.I found md solved

A stop for us, as it turns out later that this was just a stop before we got a blown tire.
Nice view, and easy location after the coordinates have been counted
A lot of other stuff lying around, as one of our doggies found some bones to chew on.

30-Dec-14
Grrr. Very windy here today. Did the questions, no good. Re did questions, same answer. Had a scout anyway of likely spots, no good. Will come back another day with a fresh set of eyes

Dad decided to stop in here and I jumped at the opportunity to cache. Managed to get the numbers wrong the first time, but a quick double check saw us arrive at the cache no problem Smile Thank you!
Note: Cache is a bit mouldy, no difficulty writing in it, but my hands were looking like they were covered in soot after.

03-Dec-14
Huh..We got the numbers wrong, and didn't have time to go over them again,so we just decided to have a quick fossic about, and surprise surprise Womble Terry called out that he had found it.Phew didn't want to say DNF..TFTH

Quick solve and quick find on way back to Christchurch today.
GZ for info is sadly a bit of a rubbish site today, but peaks are visible and whether white.
Log is wet, but I still managed to sign.
My app says there should be a trackable, but there is none.
Thanks for the leg stretch.

Wet log.
