MacPacMum and I are on a mission from Christchurch to Kaikoura to search for a FTF that has not been claimed after an entire week!Mission accomplished, which means time for lunch, and grabbing the odd cache or two (or ten) on the way back to Christchuch. Thanks for another smiley.
Handy spot to make a cuppa. We are travelling to Kaikoura for the night. We're meant to be 4x4 into Clarence but canceled. Accommodation paid for and no refund so decided to cache on way here. Normally in motorhome so nice to stop and get some smiles. Thanks for the cache bumandworker
It was great to have plenty of room to park up here. The gps had us looking in the wrong place initially, but it eventually settled down, and common sense prevailed. Thanks for putting this here
Heading south with rattll, en route to GeoToroa at Dunedin. Today, started at Paparoa Point, north of Kaikoura, aiming for... somewhere in North Canterbury, tbc. Our sole confirmed target for the day is GCEB9, at Glentui. The oldest letterbox hybrid in NZ, and coincidentally a Jasmer spot that we both need. Everything else collected today is a bonus, so we're stopping as the whim takes us.This one had us searching in the wrong place originally, as the GPS wandered. Then instinct kicked in, and the find quickly followed. All good. Signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
We were supposed to do a whale watching trip today, but it got cancelled as the whales were outside the area. Instead we set off to find a few caches. Nice big parking area at gz and we could park very close to gz where we soon found the cache. Tftc
Another good place to pull over for a break on our way south. Yes there is a picnic table (now). The cache was quickly found between passing traffic. All ok here. TFTC bumandworker.

Picked up three caches after heading south from Kaikura this morning. Took far too long to find this one. Our coords seemed to direct us to the trees and we spent a while searching there before finally giving up. The hint was of no help! Had a quick look elsewhere before heading away and came up with the goods (fortunately). At that point the coords on both our iPhones were suggesting that GZ was 12-13m away. #7113. TFTC.
The last leg of our journey on our 2nd tiki tour in NZ heading from Kaikora down to ChCh grabbing a few caches as we went. Here we searched all around and eventually found the cache, coordinates a bit off ( we made them S 42 32.541' E 173 27.093')Picnic table - yes Rest - yesNoisy traffic - what do you expect at a roadside stop ! Seems the area has changed since the last time this CO visited their cache which appears to have been over 7 years ago !!!!TFTC Tim and Viv - ddm

After clearing out all but three caches on the Molesworth Road between the locked gates before it closes very very soon for the season I headed home. This was the eighth stop along the way.
Time to turn this blue face to yellow. Having read enough previous logs, I now knew where it would be, and was.
Good to be back on the highway, flicking off some of that thick mud from Ngaroma road earlier.

#12,470. After a fun week in Christchurch doing a lot of caching it was time today to drive north to Picton to catch the 6pm ferry. I decided to stop first at Cheviot for some lunch then do a few along the road from there to Kaikoura. Another location with plenty of parking and no cars today. Found after a short search in the most likely spot Thanks b&w for the cache. Need to get to Kaikoura now to do the ad labs. Favourite awarded for your efforts in hiding caches in these out of the way places.
Wanted to stop here but area taken up with road workers. Will try in next time through
Having a milestone birthday this weekend, my aim was 50 caches. That was too much for one day so the 50 finds were spread over the celebratory weekend, 1/2 on my way South and 1/2 on my way North.
This was not one of them. Didn’t spend too long here but couldn’t find it in that time.

Planned West Coast trip put on hold due to atrocious weather. So an alternative route was needed to avoid the rain. Not so! The rest of the south island copped it too..though on a lesser degree. So mainly driving north with the odd random cache finds. Seeing plenty of country less travelled a bonus. Spending a few days in Kaikoura then heading back down south.
Southward bound now!

A quick find on my way home to Christchurch and I remember a cache being here years ago. I am going back pre 2009
Don't know if he was an Englishman, but there was certainly a mad dog here the first time we stopped. Needless to say we carried on without looking for the cache. This time the layby is empty and cache quickly found. tftc
Time to start heading home after a great weekend exploring the kaikoura area grabbing caches along the way..

Found with NZDi. It is Waitangi Weekend and NZDi decides she wants to spend a few days in Christchurch to do some retail therapy. A couple of our grandchildren have birthdays coming up and she can't find anything suitable in the local stores in Blenheim and is hoping the big city has a better selection. The plan is to travel south on Friday caching along SH 1, do the shopping on Saturday morning and cache out at the McLeans Island MTB park in the afternoon, then head home on Sunday with a detour to cache the K2R- Passchendaele Memorial Path between Kaiapoi and Rangiora (I guess that is what K2R stands for). Throughout the weekend we dated and signed our logs in full, as KM + ND or a combination of both depending on the room available on the sheet/book.
Today is day one of the trip and having pretty much cached out SH 1 between Blenheim and Kaikoura, our aim is to attempt to do the same between Kaikoura and Christchurch. This is our eleventh cache of the day in our attempt to change the road between Blenheim and Christchurch from green to yellow. After the previous cache we got behind a line up of about twenty trucks and cars, so it was a slow trip here, so this cache made a great opportunity to let them get ahead. The layby was empty which made for a QEF PnG and we took the opportunity to empty the coffee cups and scone wrappers that we obtained in Kaikoura into the empty trash receptacle.

On a road trip with NZ Bozzy , heading back south after a delay of 90mins for the ferry we don't have much time to stop for caches but grabbed this quickly.

Thanks last one for today we need to get places. Ferry was delayed for over an hour so we are running a bit late. Travelling with Kiscardi.
Last cache of the day as dusk approaches - driving to Chch from Nelson via Blenheim and a lunchtime event.
Thanks for this cache, b&w. a good place to pull off the road - and I was pleased to start driving again well before a truck which I could see coming down the hill!

Today I am travelling from Kaikoura to Christchurch. Finding a few caches along the way. The weather has packed it in and was cold, wet and drizzling most of the way so I tried to go for caches that looked like they would be fairly easy to find. There is now a picnic table! Cache took me way longer to find than it should have done. GPS had me further from the road than I needed to be. Finally checked the obvious spot and there was the cache. TFTC, Biggles.

Heading home from picking up a car in Wellington. Off the ferry and heading home but had to get a few caches on the way. This was nice and easy to find TFTC
A quick find while I watched the slow traffic I would later catch up with trundle past. GPS a bit out, but few options here. TFTC Bum.
On the way to Chch for a bit of heavy retail therapy and a catch up with family over the long weekend. So a few caches on my side of the road on the trip down. Thanks to all COs.

I'm from Switzerland and spend 4 months in New Zealand on vacation. Found this cache after a few minutes search, thanks.
Yes my geo map showed a other spot and a nice picknick table ...but we found the cache ..thanks from Swiss guy !
Short stop, same experience as other cachers - despite the description, the table is there now, and the coordinates still point at the middle of nowhere. However, the obvious hiding spot did not disappoint.

Coordinates put us in the middle of the parking area. We hunted around nearby trees with no luck. Area looks like it might have been widened by road workers recently. Wondering if it is still there.
Had to wait for a car load of muggles left before I could go for it. It might be a noisy spot but at least you have plenty of warning of approaching vehicles. TFTC

Kia Ora from Minnesota, USA. I am traveling with VikingNav from Blenheim to Christchurch today and we broke up the trip with caching stops along the way. It was also a great place to stretch our legs. Log was signed. Thanks for hiding this fun cache for us to seek. >^..^
On the way to Christchurch on a nice day. Stopping along the way to stretch and break up the drive, or to get out of the way of faster traffic. If there was a cache at the stops, we tried to find it. A very nice drive, even with all the road reconstruction due to the earthquake. TFTC
One of my fav ways of spending a weekend day - jump into the car with a direction in mind, stopping for caches along the way, enjoying the journey. This time I piled a couple of 'kids' into the car also, and we headed to Kaikoura making the most of the road being open for the weekend and not that much traffic thanks to the Picton detour still in place. Needless to say that we never made it as far as Kaikoura, although we leaft early enough and got quite close. Try explaining that on a monday at work - where did you go over the weekend? Well, Kaikoura, but we did not quite make it there. Oh, is the road still so bad? LOL!
So this is as far as we got on our way to Kaikoura! At this point we realised that we need to turn around to make dinner already cooking in the slow cooker in time as pre-arranged with the rest of the whanau , and the timing was impeccable TFTC!!

My first stop on my afternoon caching road trip. I found myself drifting around and looking at some animal carcasses and prickly plats before I grabbed my GPS and saw where i was meant to be looking. Good to see there's a picnic table here now. Tftc.
missed out on this one. but probably did not look hard enough. but seeing we had to drive back to christchurch we decided to go on.
Was on the way home from MTBing, Geocaching and Money Spending in Kaikoura. Stopped at this random rest stop, well actually just pulled off the road and parked as I was towing a caravan. Nice quick find. TFTC B&W.
With a few more days of holidays left we decided to head south again and find some caches we didn't have time to look for last week, plus some more off the beaten track. This was one of 51 found today.
Thank you to all CO's who made this possible.
Thank you to all CO's who made this possible.
Our recent multi day Canterbury cache raid was so successful we decided to have another one before the holidays finished. Again we got stabbed, prodded, pricked and scraped by the variety of hedges the region is so famous for. And of course we can now hold our breath a lot longer. A skill well worth developing to avoid breathing in part of the road surface every time a vehicle passes. Just over 200 finds were logged this time and a great time was had finding the caches with a variety of shapes, sizes and placements. A big thank you to all COs who made this possible.
Driving south from Picton to Parnassus today picking up a few caches along the way. On a caching road trip so didn't have time for a rest or to use a picnic table anyway. But this pull over area did have one thing that we could use - a cache. Thanks.
I came over to New Zealand to meet my son, who is staying now for more than five months on the other side of the world. Our intension is, to travel now for 4 weeks through this fantastic land and visiting a lot of fine spots on both islands.
Met in Auckland, our first trip led us to the Far North with some spectacular locations. It was a lot of driving, but we think, it was worth the result.
The second part of our travelling route led us to the south. Going via Hamilton with some fine locations, Hobbiton was an absolutely must of our "unexpected journey" . Went then to Tauranga with a hard upclimb to Mt. Maunganui, visited Rotorua to see lot of vulcanic activities, have had a lot of fun with Zorbing and Claybird shooting and drove then to Taupa, to doing Skydiving.
Here we go: Napier with it's beautiful Art Deco district and the great Aquarium was the next stop.
Final destination on the North Island was Wellington, were we visited some great places and met some friends from Germany.
After crossing Cook Strait now we will follow the east side of the southern island down to the most southern point of New Zealand.
Blenheim with its wine yards, fantastic dolphin watching in Kaikoura, the story of earthquake in Christchurch, following the famous coastline down to Dunedin with its beautiful and interesting places as well as the nice city of Invercargill were our main spots on this part of our journey.
Of course, even if it is not our main activity during this holidays, we will looking for some caches, which are laying beside our route.
So this cache was one of those, we've picked up.
Many thanks to bumandworker for this fine cache and best greetings from Germany.

Second day of Chelzea and I doing a weekend cache run through Hanmer to Blenheim through Molesworth Station, an overnight camp and then return along the main highway back to ChCh. A pretty intense weekend with over 120 caches found that most seem to blend together so reluctantly cut and paste logging. Had a great time finding many wonderful caches in a fair few cool spots worthy of the visit. Very few DNF's but will note anything interesting or wrong with individual caches. Thanks to all the cache owners.
Found while on a cycle trip from Picton to Christchurch, great to combine cycling with my interest in Geocaching, and also have an excuse for a micro break. *TFTC bumandworker #8556* Took advantage of the picnic table to have a good break ahead of a ride up the next big hill!

Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and really scenary country!
